Root or not & beast method for Root please guide - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hi everyone,
I've got a Note 8 N950F and I would like to know if the problem with deep sleep still exists in this phone after rooting or not? Also I would like to know what the best method of rooting is? Using Supersu of Chainfire or Magisk?
Thanks all

What deep sleep issue do you have exactly?
For root, check this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=73878540

I don't have issues, I mean the issues we had with samsung phones after rooting, which phone didn't go on the deep sleep entirely and had too much battery consumption

The main issue is that the battery only charges to 80% when rooted.

That's only on Snapdragon...no such issue for Exynos models like OP's N950F.

Tnx

NFC won't activate

When I go to activate it, it just ticks then quickly unticks
I'm rooted so would this make any difference?

Did you apply the NC fix? Needed after you rooted the device.

May similar threads to yours already. Please try reading them first.
And if you actually read Doomlords thread on how to root, you would see the nfc fix.
Try reading and comprehending before posting.

Flickering Issue...

Flickering/lines just started today. Not sure if its a software or hardware issue. Guy who made the video below is using a note 2 but I am having the same issue on my note 3, just using it as reference. Thinking of returning/exchanging my phone...

That would be a hardware issue and will be covered under warranty as long as it wasn't voided.

I thought wanam/xposed caused it
UPDATE: So I re-flashed stock then rooted but this time I didn't install wanam/xposed. So far no problems, will give it a few days. But the odd thing is nobody else is experiencing the same issue

You failed to mention any specifications so I had to assume you were completely stock

Ops sorry... But by any chance do you think it was just the settings? I reflashed and rooted again and didn't install wanam/xposed for now. I can't reproduce the issue anymore but then again it was intermittent.
Ok, phone died, replaced it today
Edit

Note 5 battery problem

Hi, for some reason my note 5 (SM-N9208) only lasts for 11 or 12 hours. It is getting really annoying. Shouldn't it last longer? I don't heavily use it. I would say I medium use and occasionally heavy use it.
Ive got same problem. There is already threads about it. Note 5 has problem to go to deep sleep mode.

I am testing some thing tonight will update tmrw if it solve my stand by drain.
Ok I tried this which helped to reduce the drain.
1. Go to device administrators and unselect google device manager.
2. Go to location and click on Google location history and turn it off.
Just try this and let me know.

Same here. A new wakelock appeared called diagnostics.client.wakelock (found under android system). it appears that at&t has reinstated that carrier iq rootkit/spyware nonsense and it is draining our batteries. There doesn't appear to be anyway to disable it without root so looks like we are stuck with it.

Has anyone had success with addressing this wakelock? I'm still seeing significant stay awake times from this, and I haven't been able to find what to disable.

yes, there is a way. take a look at this thread below for stopping carrier iq. you won't need root.

I believe it can be rooted but if that's true I just cannot figure out why we can root a note 8 but we can't root any galaxies lights at 8 or 9
