I'm planning to purchase Nokia 8 copper colour now. I googled about it, quality and features seems good. But when I saw the development in xda, I was little shocked. So, just wanted to know if it's worthy to be purchased. I'm open to suggestion and kindly share your experience with the phone... Thanks in advance...

I have purchased my Nokia 8 this March. Other than the camera, the phone has a superb quality and performance. I have found that the noise on the photo taken from Nokia 8 is rather high, and focusing on images take a little bit longer, so it is quite hard to take a quick snap if you wish to. However, such weakness can be recovered if you have installed the Google camera from Pixel. Other than that, it is a superb phone with good quality and fast update.

IT depends on the country where you live, but in most places you can get a Sony Xperia xz1 or honor v10 for the same price. Both with better standby battery life and unlockable bootloaders. The cameras of those phones are also a bit better.
Everything is great here , even the camera if you use google camera you will get very nice pictures , but the only thing i dont like on this device is the design, I like the new screen aspect ratio

To be honest, the camera is not as good as the flagship phone available in nowadays (or even at the time it released). The noise on the photo is visible at night time (sometimes even in day time). I can only say that the camera is just about average compare with the mid-tier phone.
The battery life is okay to me, but I always turn on the battery saved mode and turn off the Glance.
I hope this answers might help you to make up your decision.
I bought mine a few weeks ago and have been loving it since. I came froma Moto Z Play so I had a lot to consider before buying. First, battery life, no Snapdragon 8xx can come close to the Snapdragon 6xx series. And also stock Android experience is the best experience for me. So I'm left with Honor View 10, Nokia 8, or wait for Nokia 7 Plus.
Nokia 7 Plus will have a great battery life nut has gorilla glass 3 and no OIS.
Honor View 10 has better camera and battery life but has EMUI and a Kirin processor (even though it's a at Snapdragon 8xx level). However it does support project Treble, so if you wanna root around it should be easier.
The Nokia 8, which is good but has subpar camera and subpar battery life. But considering how small the battery is and how powerful the processor is, it does have a better battery life but would've been better if Nokia added more. And camera is fine at least better than my previous phone as I just needed some decent photo. Google Pixel camera app made it waaaaaayyyyy better.

I find the battery life superb, most days i have over 70% left with moderate use or 40%'ish with heavy use without WiFi using data only.
Here in Chile it's price is way affordable than other flagships from Samsung, Sony, Motorola, LG, etc. So, having that in consideration, plus it's hardware and software is the best deal for what you get.
Battery life is great
Screen quality and brightness in sunlight also great
Sound i find it really good
Camera is good too, maybe it isn't way good at night as other flagships with lower apertures, but it gives really decent pictures. Video is good also, very good quality and stabilization is decent enough. And it's surround recording sistem is really nice.
So hardware wise is one of the best options you can get here for it's price. It's a Nokia so you would expect a sturdy phone, almost unbreakable lol.
In software you get the latest updates really quickly.
Maybe it doesn't have unlockable bootloader easily as other phones with Snapdragon SoCs, but having cutting edge updates almost same as Google pixel devices I would say maybe it's not necessary to have much development. Things I've noticed over the years is that most developments that triumphs are those that make ROMs as stock as possible.
So if you like stock Android go for it I don't thing you'll get disappointed. But if you are a camera maniatic , maybe you should consider some other device

Considering batter life and camera performance its most probably the P20 pro. But if you want to install custom roms and have a great developer scene you should stick with the OP6.
BTW I've never heard the op6 had a terrible battery life really.

Battery is the best ive ever had... IVE been up for over an hour checking email and something on ebay and im still at 100%... as far as the camera. its also great and will get better with upcoming updates..

I suppose you're referring to the p20pro
any problem issue anything? I for instance remember people having issue with the cursor latency and after a bit of digging it seems it was solved with v110 or 120 of the firmware.
Would you overall recommend it?

With 4h of very light tasks, on P20 Pro you'll end up with 50% battery remaining or even more. With heavy usage (a full day in 4g,high accuracy location always ON, 2 hours of music streaming, 30 mins of heavy gaming, taking pics etc...) I got 4-5h of sot with 15-20% left.
The screen latency was fixed with updates. I overall recommend it! If you're looking for great battery and a great camera in a smartphone, this one is the best right now. Some review adresses poor camera performance, but in real life it's outstanding: zoom, low light and the large amount of setting makes it the most versatile camera out there.

Very tough one that.
Camera is better on the p20 pro besides video which is superior on the oneplus 6
Battery is a tough one, the p20 pro has a huge battery but at the same time it's not the most efficient device in the world, i average about 8 hours SOT per full charge, where as with my oneplus 5 i used to average 10 hours maxing out one time with a mental 14 hours SOT, the pro simply can't beat that, with that being said though the oneplus 6 hasnt upgraded it's battery afaik so it would probably even out with the p20 pro or perhaps be worse.
in regards to software, with a few tweaks the p20 pro is a very well customized device with all the options you'll ever need.
The oneplus is really minimal which is superb for pace, but you'll have more ROM's to flash than you'll know what to do with.
Aftermarket development is totally one sided with the Oneplus 6 getting a lot of attention and some great developers whereas the p20 has erm ? 2 i think
CPU / GPU: Oneplus 6 hands down, the 845 is a crazy processor which will never slow down plus it's very efficient and seldom overheats, you'd have to throw a lot at it.
The P20 on the other hand gets warm at times when very little is going on.
If i had the choice now? I think i'd probably get the oneplus 6 although i'd probably be looking over the fence at the p20 pro, it's camera is just amazing.
Depends what you want pal, i don't think theres a wrong decision here, they're both great devices.
Just to confuse you even more, why don't you wait for the pixel 3 xl, it's looking decent.
P20 Pro is definitely the one to get if you're looking for great battery life+cameras, I've heard about the battery issues on the OP6 too, OP pushed an update that disabled the always on display because of poor battery life the P20 Pro should fare much much better. Definitely get the P20 Pro if you can, it's just a better phone overall, speakers are top notch, performance is great and the chin is smaller in person, haven't had any issues so far.

ive got zero regrets choosing this phone. the battery and camera are amazing. the Op6 was in the running until i looked at phots posted from real users and NOT professional review sights. I use Nova pro and glance plus to handle my notifications and AOD. in short. amazing. love the blacks(screen) this phone produces.

Mainly due to the quicker update cycle. I'd be missing shooting raw and I don't know how battery life measures up.

The ROM is unexceptional. Quite a few Pie features missing and little customisability.
The camera is mediocre.
The battery life is excellent.
The screen is amazing.
The housing is extremely slippery. Wet block of soap slippery.
I'm starting to really like it now that I've rooted it with Magisk and installed a few tweaks (battery life seems even better with the LKT module).

I am really thinking about it.
A contract with vodafone UK for 41/month which includes 32 GB of data, Spotify and a 9 pound up front cost sounds very good on this device.
The sim only alternative (with 25 gbs) is 25/month. Which means the device cost over two years would be around 380ish.
I may try getting it today - anything you guys disliked other than the fingerprint placement?

Depends on your definition of excellent. It's the exact same sensor module as found on the XZ1 which is over a year old. Not quite flagship for a company that is the worldwide market leader in camera sensor design and production. I'm also pretty sure the triple camera setup on the P20 pro outperforms the XZ3's outdated single 18MP camera. So given the context, mediocre is the right word.

Let's say at daylight Sony camera is better and on lowlight Huawei camera is better (my opinion because of colours on photos). RAM is higher on P20 Pro. And no gestures on Android 9 if it is important. Everything else is better. Sound, screen, speed, build quality (back glass on Huawei P20 Pro is a jake; it is stratched after 10 days of use without any case).

Compared with my wife P20 Pro - same results indoor with natural lightning. Did not tested yet on low light.

Xz2 beats p20 pro so how is that lol and its also prooven
You will miss 4000 mAh battery from P20 Pro. You will also miss the camera, P20 Pro has better post processing (not as noisy photos), much better in low light and RAW-support.
XZ3 has only 4 GB RAM, not sufficient in a 2018 flagship phone. Huawei used 6 GB in their 2016 flagship phones.
You can not use XZ3 without case. It’s like a soap in your hand and glass back scratches easily.
Otherwise it’s Sony’s best phone yet, not bad at all, but not on the same level as other flagship phones.
Personally the only two things that made me decide against the P20/Mate 20 were my dislike for EMUI and the fact that Huawei discontinued their boot loader unlocking service last summer. Sony's ROM is much closer to AOSP and if you want root you can easily unlock it.

I came from Mate 20 Pro and now I own S10+ but I'm thinking to make a change and buy an P30 Pro. I want to know how is the camera and the display (can you see the pixels)? I don't use RAW format only normal shoots (day and night). The S10+ camera is a joke on the night shoots but on daylight is excelent.

Camera is honestly a hit or miss. Some shots come out amazing... others look like they were taken on an android phone like 5 years ago. I am a professional photographer so I can pick up on many details quite well.
Have I ever used the 5x camera - nope, kinda gimmicky and only fun to show friends
Portrait mode has way too aggressive of a blurring with o k a y edge detection
Front facing camera is hit or miss with exposure and also more importantly focus and sharpness
Rear camera photos are a lot of time wayyy too sharp where it looks like you purposefully pumped the sharpness up in an editor.
Night time photography is amazing though, like actually really really amazing.
Camera is overall pretty meh though tbh

Nice colors, pretty accurate.
Pixel density is low, coming from a 2k device I will never choose a 1080p panel ever again.
Only thing keeping me on this phone is the battery life
Just do it. I missed the screen first couple of days then got used to it ... Camera, battery life, super fast charging even using car charger made my life easier. Even video recording, there is no 60 4k but zooming and night mode on this thing makes it unbeatable

I don't think that worth change a S10+ for a P30 PRO, for me they are equivalents.

I feel the same way ... After mate 10 pro i swear to myself would be iPhone or pixel only , than my provider came with and offer the P30 Pro cheap...i got and lemme Tell you .. is a great peace of hardware but seems that chinese companies cant code ... And software is almost everything nowadays!
i agree with danny....EMUI and screen resolution are the main downsides. My previous phone was the Samsung Note 9. Low resolution makes the finer details look pixelated.
Zoom and bokeh are pretty nice and useful (for me since i can take pic of notes from the blackboard from far away). Battery life is amazing. If only the P30 Pro has OneUI and a QHD screen, this phone would be perfect.
Thanks guys! For me the resolution is not a peoblem even my s10+ stays on full hd resolution. Also I like the EMUI it's not a big deal for me . My concerns are the low pixel density of the screen and the camera on daylight.
I just moved to the P30 Pro from an iPhone 6
I looked at both in teh store, read reviews, watch reviews and they both seem to be as good as each other depending on what the situation is

Cameras on both S10+ and P30 Pro are excellent, but I think Night Mode on Huawei is superior to Samsungs, although Sammy has improved it in last update. As for EMUI, well, it depends. It's kinda messy but once you tune some things here and there I think it's nice. At least I have no problem with it. It feels more responsive than Samsung's One UI (and previously TouchWiz). Super Charging is extremely helpful, I remember when I had Note9 it's fast charging was a joke, it was comparable to 2015 charging rate.

I compared S10+ Night mode with Mate 20 Pro Night mode and I tell you that S10+ Night mode it's a joke even with last update.
s10+ day shot is very good but its look like editing the color are not normal , night shot is not usable its not good charge is slow and battery life is bad the screen is perfect but because of battery life i was use it on FHD+ and if you buy it you will too , in QHD the battery life almost 4 H OST , the stereo sound is perfect .
the P30 pro i love this camera in day and night , very speed charge and a good battery life . the screen is good for me and the sound is high but not stereo , i change from s10+ to p30 pro because of battery life and heating over gaming , if you have any Question just ask man

I went from S9+ to P30 Pro and I am really satisfied so far.
Battery life is way better.
Screen is less sharp, but also less warm-leaning then Samsung with its orange tint (which may actually more accurate but doesn't look as good subjectively). I cannot distinguish single pixels
Camera is indeed a hit-or-miss that also was the case on my Samsung. The photos that do come out better are incredible and low light performance just obliterates. the S9+. In my opinion all modern flagships are good enough when lighting conditions are easy, but low light is where it matters. Macro is amazing but arguably a bit gimmicky, Zoom is a nice addition on vacations.
S10 has better screen, better UI, better support for Samsung peripherals like 360° cam and Smartwatches, can easily be rooted and flashed. Also gaming performance is better if you are into emulating Wii and PSP games.
I had an S10+ and broke it recently. I decided to get a P30 Pro dual sim and have no regrets. Aurora blue is an awesome looking phone!! I don't notice the screen resolution all that much, I don't play games so I don't need high res. The battery is a lot better on this phone. Went golfing this weekend and left phone in car, after 5 hours battery dropped 2%, my S10+ would have dropped at least 10-15%. One thing I really miss is Smart Lock. I can't find an equivalent on the P30. I think the camera is just as good as my S10+. Still not convinced on the USB headphones. I know the first trip on a plane I go on and watch a movie without being able to charge my phone while I have the headset on will probably bug me. Might have to use Bluetooth from now on. Also, what's with the Nano memory. You can't buy them anywhere other than Amazon. I ordered one but it said two weeks delivery. I hate proprietary devices!! Under screen fingerprint is the same on both phones, sometimes it works well, other times it fails. After using the P30 Pro over the weekend I think they are comparable phones and the P30 Pro was a LOT cheaper than the S10+. Bought the S10+ off Samsung site for $1700 CDN and the P30 Pro was $1199 CDN off Amazon.
Did Huawei already kinda give up on the P20 Pro? I know that there's is coming the EMUI 10, but new features? or features that other phones are getting? The Mate 20 has announced some new stuff like moon mode, DC dimming, ultra-low latency Bluetooth (maybe here there is a hardware difference), the Nova 4 is also getting front camera night mode. Also the camera on the P20 Pro still as a lot to improve especially on the video and front camera. I just kinda feel like they already letting go a last year flagship just like that.
Low latency bluetooth might be because of the bluetooth 5 thing. Guess who's switching if they abandon the phone in the same way they did 2 years ago.
Is a shame that an 800+€ flagship is just kinda 'forgot' already just like that because there are others flagship to push out to consumers, this phone is great and still can be better but yeah f**k consumers.
We get every update possible up to emui 10. Who is forgotten??

Some of the features that the mate 20 and p30 have are mostly hardware-related. The 30x zoom could had been bought to our phone, same goes for dimming, ar lens and more stuff.

This.. Also when is Huawei gonna finally solve the video focus jitters or whatever is?
Hate to be devils advocate here but if they put all there shiney new tricks on last year's phone what would be the point in the p30, it's a business decision.
Sicks but it's how phones are sold, I think given the p20 is nearly 2 now it's doing well with updates.

Something that almost never happens in real life.
The successful company must really fail on many fronts to make majority of their customers go. It must be combination of really disappointing product and terrible financial condition of this company. The closest example that comes to my mind is htc drastically losing its market share in 2011. Their models like Sensation or Incredible S had hardware defects and weren't match for Galaxy S II.
However an average user won't abandon Huawei because they don't want to make its really good p20 pro look (softwarewise) like p30 pro. Every vendor does that.

I don't wanna my P20 Pro to look like the p30 pro or all the shiny new stuff that is hardware related (impossible of course) but it would be cool to have a last year flagship to record a video without is "focus jumping around" every few seconds and stuff like that that ruin the video and can be improved.
Does feel like we're being left behind tbh.
Emui 10 has been mentioned but no time line specifically. Video stabilization has actually got worse on 9.1 Vs 8.1 on 1080p 30fps
Battery had got worse too.

This... It's a 800€ plus flagship from last year, the mate 20 will get the emui 10 fast, like every other update til now
Battery performance decreases over time. It's normal for this type batteries. I don't see much difference between 8.1 and 9.1.

There is a difference, it's not normal battery degredation, this is a specific drop between bases.

It's not like i don't believe you. I've just haven't noticed one yet on my device. My battery time us pretty much the same.
My battery lasts just a bit less than on emui 9.0
The phone feels a little snappier, that's come with some drawback, it can't be just the new file system

Were you used to getting 9-10 hours SOT consistently on your P20 Pro on 8.1? And you're still getting that on 9.1 ?

I was getting 7-9 hours SOT on 8.1 and now I am easiliy getting more than 7.
In order to determine whether it's normal battery degradation (just an example: my old iphone's battery lost 8% of its capacity over a year) or result of update to 9.1 I would have to downgrade to 8.1 and test which I am not really willing to do.

Ok so that's a pretty obvious drop?
I know personally that the phone is less efficient with 9.1, it is what it is.
You just said yourself that you've noticed no drop yet you've just gone from 7-9 to 7 ?
