I'm having problems with google pay
I tested on Moto G6 with nfc to try pay an purchase with google pay
everything stock : android 8.0.0 / patch 03/01/2018
Google pay: installed, no problems, credit card added.
installed nfc checker: no problems, nfc installed
when you try to buy something nothing happens, before that i had nexus 5x and everything worked like a charm
anyone els who had similar experience or has it working?
My understanding is that the regular Moto G6 doesn't have NFC, but the G6+ does.
If you've got the G6, you're out of luck. Sorry.
Hi , the moto G6 has nfc on board.
with the nfc tools app i can read out my personals badge and train badge.
nfc checker also says nfc on board and working.
anyone who's willing to test nfc payment with google pay?

Are you sure you don't have the G6 Plus? My G6 does not have NFC, but it may differ per region.

I don't think you need both. On my Galaxy S5 I just have a pin lock and it works fine. (Waiting for my G6 to come in this week)

According to this site, the Moto G6 has NFC.
Some features like NFC or the front camera differ per region for the G6.
I have NFC and it works with my local banking app.
Having same issue, did you get this resolved in the end?
Out of interest the nano sim, is that a NFC sim? I have a vodafone NFC enabled SIM (the NFC symbol is on the SIM itself) from a few moons ago and wondered if that was causing conflict.
---------- Post added at 02:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:22 PM ----------
I just swapped the NFC SIM and it now works.
Can someone confirm that G6 Play (XT1922-3, EU, DualSim) lacks NFC? According to GSMArena and a lot of hands-on, tests, it should have, but I'm not able to find it in the settings. (I also checked the device, and it lacks compass sensor as well, which is installed instead NFC in some markets, like US). Maybe it's just a software bug?

So, does the Xiaomi Mi8 from GearBest have NFC? Because I was this close to buying a Mi8 but then I've noticed that in the product page the specs didn't show NFC but there are other listings who show NFC in the specs!I need NFC in my daily life. Bus and train pass, college dorm acess and etc.
Mi8 GearBest this the one that I was going to get.
Mi8 GearBest this one in the Q&A page says it has NFC but it doesn't on the spec sheet
Mi8 GearBest this one has NFC in the specs sheet
The other listings don't even mention NFC
I don't get it.. Should I just get the version I want and it will come with NFC regardless or some versions have it and others don't? I'm really confused by this
Also, I'm in Portugal. Is there any difference in getting the Global, International or even the Chinese/English version of the phone (power brick, ROM, phone model)?
Thanks

no, you'll get google pay only when using a costum rom like xiaomi.eu that explicitly supports google pay.
I can confirm xiaomi.eu's google pay work perfect.

Sorry mate, but google pay does indeed work on the stable global rom. My bootloader is locked tho.
I am confused, as gsmarena.com says it does, and if you go on to honor.co.uk and look at specs it says it has NFC.
On the other hand if you Google Honor Play NFC nfc.com says it doesn't have it, and sellers on aliexpress, gearbest, etc. say no NFC.
Which is it?!
Doesn't have... Confirmed with honor

Let me make it clear guys, there are 3 versions of Honor play.
1. COR-L29 which is the GLOBAL variant and has NFC + wideVine L1 level DRM
2. COR-AL10 which is the Indian variant and does NOT have NFC, also only has WideVine L3 level DRM
3. COR-AL00 which is the Chinese variant and just like the Indian one does not have NFC and only has WideVine L3 level DRM.
I hope this solves your queries.

Thanks, but when I get my phone I'll be able to see in the settings I guess. Unless this app shows a "hidden" NFC? Is that even a thing?

I don't think hidden NFC is a thing. Also yes you would be able to see the NFC within the settings, it if your phone has it. I have a COR-AL00 variant and I do not have NFC, but it's strange that Honor was supposed to ship Indian variant but they are shipping AL00 which is Chinese? I got this information from gsmArena probably they messed something up.
Everything is very unclear, honor needs to be a little more transparent.

It's a bit embarrassing for Honor that having spent time working out how their site works it's impossible to download the manual - you get the poor english "sorry no search result" when you try.
Maybe the manual is available for other regions. I can't post URLs but you could try at hihonor.com, then the path global/support/phones/honorplay

I want to purchase a LG V40 Thinq to work with Cricket Wireless, but I do not want to be restricted to GSM carriers only as I'm considering moving to an alternate provider later on. I also like the ability to unlock the bootloader or use an alternate firmware but I'd also like to have OEM options for updates which is why I'm posting here. I figured this community knows the most and most of what I've learned about this handset came from these forums.
From what I read the T-Mobile version is very hard to unlock, the Sprint network isn't something I'm considering due to QOS in my area, and the AT&T version is viable for Cricket but OTA updates are locked unless you have an AT&T Post Paid Active Service, Verizon is Unlocked for GSM and is compatible with a few other MVNOs I would consider changing to. From My understanding the model number for the Verizon variant is LM-V405UAB and should come carrier unlocked for GSM networks. Only downside is Visual Voicemail isn't an option but I do not care about that as I don't use my carrier's voicemail system on my phone.
Anything else I'm missing or is there a resource that can better advise me someone can point me towards?
Thanks in Advance,
Why not just buy the unlocked variant, LM-V405QA, from Best Buy? It's on sale for $399.99 right now.
I suggest you to buy the LG V50 ThinQ any of the 4 Koreans models. Or the european variant. Stay away from the US versions.
LM-V500N Koreans and LM-V500EM European.
Prices starting from as little as 350 USD on eBay.

I wasn't aware Best Buy offering an Unlocked Version of the Phone. Every time I was searching for devices only the carrier versions were coming up. It's actually selling for ~350USD atm but not showing any stock either online or in store locally. Shame because that is right around the budget I am willing to spend for this device. Thanks DiZzyBonne
Inerent, I was looking at the V50 as well. Roll out for 5G is pretty slow in my area and I didn't really see that much of a Spec difference to warrant the upgrade over the v40. I definitely do see the difference in the V30/v35 which is how I settled on the V40. I usually turn over cell phones every 1-1.5 years buying previous gen over current to allow for vetting of any manufacturing or support issue. Moving back to LG products after bad experience with previous G5 I owned. It's a bit further compounded by the fact I don't see a lot of them available through normal channels. I like the phone but it will probably be my next verse current choice.
It's still available on their website. It's $399.99, the only way you'll get it for $349.99 is if you activate it with Best Buy. I just bought the unlocked for $399.99 two weeks ago.

He mentioned the ability to unlock the bootloader -> Only the V500EM can do that atm, thats what i meant that. You cant unlock the bootloader of the V500N (yet, till someone find an exploit).
Wound up purchasing a LM-V405QA7. I'm less concerned about bootloader unlocking and firmware updates provided LM-V405QA7 is running Pie which it should according to the LG support channel.
Thank you all for your help. It's a pretty solid phone from my use of AT&T version. I've just had a string of bad luck with refurbished handsets not being properly repaired or locked IMEI numbers.
