Battery problems - shut down with 40% battery - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hello Guys,
Well... I didn't have problems with my P9 around 1 and half year, but since last week I have problems with the battery, when it's around 40% it shuts down inmediatlly, a message " your phone will automaticaly shut down because of the battery low", the battery goes from 40 %to 1% automatically. When I turn it on again the battery is around 15%, but again it goes down 1% and it shuts down. When I connect my device to the energy the screen it shows is 40% and then I can turn on the phone again.
I don't know if the problem is the battery or the software.
Thanks for reading.
Sorry for my bad english.

Replace your battery and problem will be fixed. In other words your battery is not good anymore

Had the same thing. I took the phone to Huawei service and they replaced it for free and you get new LCD panel as a bonus

Hey, they replaced your screen, too? I sent my phone under warranty and they replaced the battery and the screen. I thought they broke it during the installation.

Yes, they told me that the battery is sealed to the front part with the screen and they replace it all together. Nice bonus, as almost after 2 years I have new phone for free .
Apparently there was a problem with their battery at some point so they replace it without any problems.

Hi, since I have the same battery prob and thinking about a replacement, too:
Is it necessary to reset the phone to original rom and locked bootloader to get a free replacement by Huawei service point? I'm currently on Moonlight with unlocked bootloader and twrp installed. So I wonder, if this matters (from Huawei side).

I would do that as custom ROM may be the reason for warranty void.

Along the same lines, I have a weird case: A rooted P9 lite (vns-L22c636b120) has the 50% to 1% battery problem. The odd thing is, it continued after I replaced its battery.
For example, yesterday I charged it to 100%. Unplugged from the charger, left it on for hours and it slowly went down to 96% -- good!
Then I turned it off - it rebooted.. Maybe I clicked the power button once too many times. When it came back up it said, warning, battery is at 1% shutting down. Tried rebooting, but it just turns itself off.
I charged it overnight.
This morning I turned it on and it was at 1% and shut down. I plugged it in, and in 10 minutes it said 20% full, and in 20 minutes it was at 100% (!) that's too fast.
What I have tried so far:
* Replaced the battery
* Replaced the OS - it won't accept anything over L22c636b130 it seems however - it even won't boot OpenKirin stuff - goes into boot loop.
* Re-flashed most partitions with stock ROM: boot, system, recovery, recovery2..
* Wiped cache/factory reset from recovery countless times.
* Followed Huawei's battery re-training method (turn it on, charge, turn it off, etc)
* Installed a few apps for battery calibration which claim to have finished successfully.
It's very baffling! I have no idea even if this is hardware or software.
Any ideas?

[Q] My Note cannot work without charger! Im Panicking!!

I bought a galaxy note GT-N7000 on March 10th, 2012. Today while using the phone, it automatically switched off. I thought "ok fine...just an android glitch" and switched it back on. But as soon as it turned back on and the home screen appeared, not even 3 seconds later, the phone screen flickers for half a second and the phone instantly turns off. This keeps on happening if i turn the phone on again and again as it switches off, but when I connect it to the charger and turn on the power, the phone doesn't turn off. So now, I cannot remove the phone from the power supply and Im freaking out! :crying: Oh and I tried factory resetting the phone twice but it doesnt solve the problem! ANY help would be a life saver! I have not rooted my phone and it runs samsung's stock ICS and I dont even have any launchers. I use my phone as clean and careful as possible; its been 9 months and I still havent removed the laminations on the back panel or the charger, so you can imagine what kind of guy I am! Please HELP ME, im panicking!! Thanx in advance!
First of all stop doing a factory reset on stock ICS kernel as dont know when your phone will get bricked.
It could be a pins contact probelm in the battery compartment. Remove the battery and check if the pins are fine and touching the right places. Clean it ... or the battery just died on you and need a new battery.

1st. Do not factory reset or format anything if you still on stock ICS kernel.. You phone will brick.
2nd. Try new battery or borrow from you friends.
omg! I didnt know that factory resetting on stock ICS can brick your phone!! Thanks for the precious info! I checked the terminals...they look brand new...so does the terminals on the battery (I rarely had the need to open the back panel). I will try another battery and get back to you guys. Thank you so much for your help!
Id bring it back for warrantee if I were you
I am also having same problem, my problem arrived once I flashed my note with 4.1.1 JB ROM.
My note powers off even it is above 90% of battery, if I try to connect 3G data.
If I start it same it powers off after 3-5 seconds on home screen.
If I connect it to charger and start it; it works fine even if I disconnect charger once note starts.
It works normal until I connect again to 3G data ot battery drains below 40 -30 %
After 40% it randomly power off or some time works till full battery drain.
If any one have solution please share.
Thanks in advance
Back from service center. Dead Battery and replaced mother board.
Hey guys, I gave my phone to the service center on 26th and got it back yesterday. They said that they replaced the main board and said that the battery is dead and they had lost 2 screws of the mother board which I found only when I came home and opened the back body by myself (opened cause there was a minute misalignment on the back body). I replaced them with 2 screws from the back body for now and have to take the phone to them again or buy those screws from some electronic shop. They also said that they don't have a Galaxy Note N7000 battery in stock and so did the other service centers here in Chennai, India. I tried searching for it in almost 7 to 8 cellphone shops but surprisingly nobody has stock of it! Can a year old phone's accessories just disappear so fast? I also tried ebay.in but all of them sell it in loose packing with seller warranty which makes me think twice about the genuineness of the product. Any advice as in what direction I must proceed now?

It might be a problem with your battery. My phone gives the problem described above because its battery is completely dead but works fine with a different battery. But my friend who has our same phone has a puffed battery and has the problem that you described. Also his battery drains faster than a normal GT-N7000 battery and sometimes switches off while playing games or doing other tasks that consume more power. Just try to use it with another battery and see if the problem still persists.
guys check the accessory section, there are some batteries suggested as well as vendors if you want new batery.
If warrantee covers it try that first. If like in above example they dont have in stock demand an alternative, especially if its covered by warrantee. You have rights you know.
A couple of days ago I ran into the same issue with my 10 month old note...
Not able to fully boot up phone... After 3 seconds since the power up
It was shutting off.
Battery was showing charge.
Got a new battery... Everything perfect now
Youve got a problem on your battery..you can try that using a new battery that should fix your problem if the problem still there, take your phone to the ssc

0% battery after crashes

So I've had this phone for about a year now, the moment I got it I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it and flashed cyanfox (cm11 fork) onto it.
It's been serving me great ever since, no problems whatsoever with it.
But as of a few days back I found it with a black screen, unresponsive. I connected the charger and it light up the green led solid, tries to boot but can't get past the boot loader message
This continues in an almost endless loop until getting to a 'battery 1%' screen with it showing the battery. After that I'm able to boot it up without problem
I first thought that was the end of it.. I finally got it too boot all seemed fine, battery showed 3% at start up bit voltage was suggesting it was 100%. It flashed to 100% later.
Good, no problem until then. But when leaving it over night to charge and disconnecting it from the charger this morning it turned off again. And now it's back in the bootloop when on charger :crying:
also important to mention is that when it crashes and gets into the bootloop on charger(0% battery and all) it was at 50-100% before the crash.
If anyone has any ideas what might be the cause I'd be very thankful
Main problem(s):
-random crashes instantly rendering battery % as 0 while there is still charge
-getting atrix hd to turn on at <1% battery
Some maybe useful information:
-it does say 'battery OK' in fastboot while connected to the wallcharger
-after I get it to boot it will run just fine on battery and charge as normal, but will crash/brick again after some time
-I can get into boot selection screen and fastboot, but only on wallcharger
-I cannot get to fastboot when connected to use, pc doesn't see the phone
-It won't boot past the bootloader('Motorola logo' for you on not unlocked bootloaders) no matter the boot selection(recovery, bp tools etc)
-This is a second hand model already in use by me (the second owner) for over a year now
-no custom kernel, only rom, cyanfox 4.4.2 (cm11 based)
-the few times it got past the bootloop and I was able to boot was on my aftermarket charger (stock charger will make the green led light up but no proof of being able to get past bootloop over time on it)
I've had dead batteries before.. and since It looked good last time I got it on (it won't go on at all now) I was skeptic about the battery being dead. But a quick test of the multimeter gives me <1v :crying:
I know batteries can be drained pretty bad.. but this just seems a bit extreme.. I'll try to get it to boot for a while.
Thanks in advance for any helpful solutions or ideas on the matter
EDIT: Got it on again last night, turned off this morning when pulling out the charger, was at 100%. Checked battery and again read around 1V.
blaming the battery, ordered a new one just in case, should be here in a month or so. Still open for suggestions on the matter

Did you fix it somehow in the end?
My Atrix HD freezes after several minutes(sometimes even on wall charger). Bought new battery, tried to reset everything: usb storage, cash, system, factory reset. Went back to ROM I was using before(stable) but didn't help.

It ended up being the battery, all problems were gone after I changed the battery.
Which in the end wasn't so bad because I'd been wanting to upgrade my eb20 to an eb40
No Idea to what it could be in your case.
Everything working appart from that? no battery hickups or things not working properly?

"0% battery after crashes" that is what was happening in the begging, so I thought it is the battery. I changed it to UB40
but everything's got worse. With the new battery I have crashes even when the battery is almost full.(but not always, for example I can play movie from youtube normally, but when I try to send sms or something else it crashes ).
Hard to believe that there is something with the new battery(I have it just one week+It took a month to ship from ebay).
I tried to flash another ROM, but still have freezes.
Last thing sometimes battery charges normally but then suddenly jumps to ~100%. Now I try to flash Stock ROM, but eventually soft bricked the phone. (+had "battery low" in fastboot, while charging animation was saying 100%)
Where did you buy EB40?

It turned out that EB40 battery was bad, after replacing it with another one everything work

XT1097 turning off when the battery is less than 30%

My Moto X 2014 works perfectly, all of its features.
Only one thing is bothering me when the battery is less than 30% cell turns off and when religo it shows that it has more than 20% battery but when it finishes the boot turns off again.
Someone has gone or is going through this problem?
My phone is with the original ROM, unlocked bootloader and custom kernel to be able to root.
I had a similar problem on my XT1096 but the threshold was more like 20%. It would hit between 20%-15% and just turn off. I actually got Motorola to replace it under warranty cause I thought it was a battery problem. My replacement has done it once already. I never figured out what the problem was. A factory reset made it go away for about a month. Then it started happening again pretty regularly. That's when Motorola replaced it.

Thanks for your reply, awaiting more comments/solutions.
Yeah, mine did this @ 12-9% threshold... which really wasn't too bad, but not reliable for general day to day use. You can try calibrating the battery [Google: Calibrate your battery], and seeing if that helps. It didn't for me. Long story short; i went to ebay and bought a broken Moto X 2014 for $30 and i swapped it's battery in my original. I bought many "authentic" batteries on ebay and guess what, they were fakes and never worked. If you chose to go this route, the MOTO X is pretty difficult to open properly without ruining the back. I bought an additional wooden back from China via Ebay. I no longer have this problem, the phone gets to 1-2% before it dies now; which is much more reliable for my use.

Charge phone to 100% leave plug in turn on phone wait till boot animation shows then hold Power button until it restarts, do this three 2 times.
Repeat later on if you have to.
It should work.

Wow, haven't tried that! I'll check it out tonight. Thanks
My solution is calibrating it with this and I get it to work again. So, is there something physically wrong with my battery and this is just some kind of patch?

If it's calibrated wrong this & my solution should work. Or a faulty battery is in place.

I tried this and it actually made it worse. My phone would consistently shut off at around 30% (oh, and I can get MAYBE 5-6 hours out of it before it shuts off, so I can never go anywhere without charging cords, VERY annoying!!), so I tried this. For one, the phone shuts but doesn't restart when I am holding the power button during the BU animation, it just shuts off and no matter how long I hold the power button, it doesn't restart. One of the times I did it, I DID get a green LED shining inside the slot at the top which serves as the earpiece for the phone. That time I had to hold the button a LONG time for it to restart. The end result of all of this is now my phone shuts off at around 40%!
Try downloading ampere app and seeing the health of your battery
This is definitely battery problem my friend...nothing can be done except replace battery ...my entire state doesn't have a good customer care to replace this sh#t battery and now am going to change this stupid phone ..am done charging all the day and sudden turn off s too..

Boot loop after battery replacement

Hi, I recently bought battery for huawei p9 on internet and replaced it. First 10 days, phone worked corectly except it reboot alone few times a day. After that, when i power on mobile, it just reboot every 2-3 seconds. Only can boot corectly when battery is 100% and when is plugged on charger. If I plugg off charger, mobile turn off.
Is this problem with battery or something else ?
Thanks.
Most probably the battery

Get another battery
Get another battery. Those are the tell-tale signs of an refurbished / aftermarket battery. Try getting an original new one if you can.

Update the phone to the latest version of Android and if you rooted the phone that could be part of your problem.. After updating the phone calibrate the battery by running the phone until it shuts off and if it shuts off at 30% then turn it right back on again and keep trying to run the battery to 0% once it's at 0% then fully charged it to 100% while it's off and then do it again several times making sure you get it to 0% before you even plug it in.. And if you didn't buy a brand new OEM battery then that could be your problem too because I bought a 4,000mAH battery because it should have lasted longer than the 3,000 one right? But it didn't it died out 2 times faster than the OEM Samsung brand! So don't buy cheap generic junk.. Remember the old saying "you get what you pay for"..
