Phone won't charge - Xiaomi Mi MIX Questions & Answers

My phone won't charge, Help !
My phone is Xiaomi Mi Mix
I bought the phone like 1 year ago
So I tried to clean the port
Change cables
Change power brick
Change power source
Still ..... The phone won't charge
However, if I plug the charger when the phone is turned off it will charge.
Then of course I turn back the phone to use it.
But when I unplug then replug the charger when the device is on, it won't charge again.
So Everytime I want to charge, i need to turn off the phone first
What happen to my phone ??

Maybe replace the battery?

That is the final resort if all step doesn't work, need something that doesn't need any money first :/

Try maybe flashing a custom rom, or even flash a custom recovery and check if the phone charges while in recovery mode so you know if the problem is with hardware or software.

Just unplug battery overnight, usually sorts this sort of thing out, while the back is off disconnect the port cable from motherboard insure it's clean and reconnect

I replaced my battery and it really was not that hard at all. Mom had a

i have the same problem. I believe it is a software problem. hope for a update to fix it.

Naa, just leave the battery unplugged overnight, will take awhile to start charging again but should be fine

Yes, same here. The phone just stops charging and as well starts discharging rapidly with the charger connected.
I am on the PIXEL rom currently.
As I had tried the RR ROM and the look and feel for the phone wasn't quite to my liking.
The phone charges fine when it shut down. But refuses to charge with any PC/brick/cable.
Also, the phone heats up hard at the general fingerprint scanner & Camera area. When this happens.
I have no other choice to shut down the phone and charge it and then use it. Whats can i provide for any DEV to check the problem?
Is it a kernel fault? Software? Hardware?
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

Exact same thing is happening to my Mi Mix

Hi, I get it back to charging after doing a hard reset by plugging the charger to the phone and at the same time press and remain power button, the phone shut down and when i re-start again it keep charging. Try that

I have Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 and my phone was shut down when i completely discharged the battery. I tried the charging with original cable and adaptor but didn't charged, only seen battery icon. For just trying, I charged with a powerbank and ITS WORK. Firstly the powerbank light is going off within 5-10 second, I tried a few times reconnect the charge cable and booting my phone then the powerbank light wasn't off and my phone started normally charging.

HELP!! PHONE WON'T TURN ON

So I upgraded to the latest mr clean rom and did some tweaks with the registry Wizard. I was playing around with it for a while and turned it off to charge overnight. I wake up and try and turn it on and nothing. I've tried soft reset, and hard reset and it doesn't turn on or do anything. When I plug in my charger the light on my phone doesn't even come on. PLEASE HELP. WHAT CAN I DO!!!.

It seems that you bricked you phone mate. I think that you installed MrClean rom in a G4 phone so you irrimediably f*cked up the bootloader (IPL and SPL). Many users have reported that their phones were able to boot (and behaved normally) immediatly after the flashing but were dead after they turned them off for the first time, this is what happened to you.
Only thing you can try is going to bootloader mode (but i think it won't work since you messed the bootloader) and then flash a new rom. To do this, press and keep pressed both the keys on the right side and then insert a pin in the reset hole briefly. If the phone goes to the tri-colors screen then you're safe, if not continue reading.
If your warranty perior is not yet over then you can have a new phone for free (DON'T tell them that you flashed an experimental rom!!! Tell only that it went off suddenly or that you were installing an official rom!).
Service centre can repair your device (i suppose they've some method to reflash the bootloader) but i don't know how much they'll ask you.
Try asking other users on this forum. Sorry!

...did you ry to recharge it with the ----ORIGINAL 1A CHARGER----? looks stupid, but i resuscitated mine just before throwing it in the bin. if it works, i will explain you the rest....
yup, I tried charging it with the home charger and still nothing. My battery reads at 3v and it's supposed to be 3.8 so it's not out of juice, but maybe it's just dead?
...you can try with just a normal 9 VDC battery, in order to boost up the voltage, to connect it for a few seconds to the ppc battery till you reach the 3.8 VDC and see if it's working...
Ok, i did that...and amazingly it turned on so I pluged it into the charger right away. Windows booted and about 20sec later the device turned off and won't charge again. So i tried again and the same thing happened. Do I need a new battery? TIA

This is waht you need:
http://www.thetravelinsider.info/phones/cellphonerecharger.htm
This charger is somehow wired weird... it charges the battery AND feeds juice to the phone at the same time (believe it or not, regular chargers and USB cables do not engage until the OS is loaded), allowing you to turn the phone on and in a few minutes plug it into the regular charger to continue charging. Just make sure you get the RAZR tip.
It has saved my ass more than once.
I fixed it , What I did was zap the battery with a 9v battery in 3 sec intervals, I did this about 5 times, then I pluged my phone into the charger and turned it on, the 9v gave it enough juice to boot up and the usb took over from there. So to everyone out there who is having this same problem, try this but don't over zap, check your battery with a multimeter.
im having the same problem----my MDA went dead last night because i forgot to charge the battery and then i went to plug it in the charger but the phone doesnt turn on no more...the light doesnt turn on like if it would be charging and i left it overnight and it still doesnt work..... do yall think that its the battery or is the phone just messed up and cant use it nomore????
Last time I had my battery completely drained, it wouldn't charge from laptop via USB. I read something about how the device's "smart-charging" function itself needs a bit of power to start-up...
but anyways, I couldn't charge the battery through the phone (software charging) - what I had to do was to take a USB cable, cut out one end, identify the +/- (red/black) wires, and charge them directly to the battery's two poles (metal plates). It took about 10-20 seconds of charging until I had enough power in the battery to place it back in the phone, start WM5 and charge it thru the phone.
It would have been much easier if you have a battery charger.
I had my phone connected to the computer through the usb cable, and I just left it connected for a week and it was completely dead and could not be turned on. I don't know how it drained the battery (probally by leaving the wifi on, but the computer was in use all the time). Anyway, thanks to this thread, I used the ac charger and it turned on.

I'm going to give this a go; a Crossbow ROM flash went horribly wrong last night and in my attempts to repair it (I also must have flashed at least 9 times) the phone went dead. It won't charge either, but battery voltage is 3.7 volts, and I'm sat here wishing it was 3
Will get back to you all!
To update: no... it didn't work! I hooked the battery up to a computer power supply (nearest thing to hand) on 5v and 12v and the voltage increased to about 3.81V... I guess the battery is not the problem with my phone, though the symptoms were the same :-(
Any buttons I can press (i.e. like the voice command button for bootloader) to wake the damned thing up? It's probably fried.

My phone has a hardware problem with the on / off button (doesn´t work at all), at the beggining I thought it was a software problem and I tried all sort of tricks, then I gave up and recognized that was a hardware issue and I found 2 ways to turn the phone on 1) When is totally off (This happens when I have to remove the battery to change SIM card) I connect to the USB cable to my PC or to the car or wall charger and I make a soft reset. 2) When I see the phone signal led blinking I remove the memory card and wakes the phone up (not a good idea since I know that the card is going to get damaged sooner or later).
I just got a G3 wizard from a friend a couple days ago. On Thursday I upgraded it to XDA Mobile 6 and left it on the 2.25.11 (I think) T-Mobile Radio that the T-Mobile 2.26 firmware flash put on it. I used it all day on Friday and then I held the power button and shut the phone completely off for 25 hours, but left it plugged in to a usb to 110V AC adapter that came with my Dell Axim X50V. On Saturday night I went to turn it on and it would not come on no matter what I tried. I found this thread and checked the voltage on the battery directly with a multimeter, 3.13V. I cut the head off a usb cable and then held the black and red wires to the positive and negative terminals on the battery for 2 minutes with the head plugged into a front USB port on my PC. The multimeter then read 3.7V. I put it back into the MDA and it turned on, booted and informed me that the battery was completely drained. I plugged it into the USB to AC charger and it read 10% battery on BatteryStatus. I have left it to charge and it is currently at 60%.
I guess the lesson here is to not totally shut the phone off and let it sit, or the battery won't charge, even plugged into my charger. I guess the OS needs to be running in suspend mode for the charging circuit to run. I know I won't turn it all the way off ever again unless I have my little plug thing and my laptop with me.
(old) Nokia phones have a state called "Acting dead" (from service manuals) which takes place when phone is turned off and battery inserted. It means that the energy is flowing around the board so that the responsible hardware keeps waiting for a 'HIGH' signal ordering to turn ON the phone.
When batteries go bellow the 2.x volts they stop being charged by the phones. This is why i protect the battery terminals with tape when the phone is stored for some time and the reason why a lot of people thinks the phones are broken when not used for months. I usually use the 'freezer trick' where i leave the batteries inside the freezer all night and charge them next day.
just 2 cents...
My Wizard XDA got discharged over the weekend and wouldn't start up - after 12 hours on USB it still wouldn't start.
The charge tips saved my bacon - I modified a USB cable as per the instructions above, and used it to charge up the XDA battery - it only needed five seconds and the phone now boots!
Thanks All, great information!
My 2 cents...
If you're going to try the same, connect red usb to the +ve terminal of your battery and black USB to the -ve terminal of the battery. I'd suggest having a voltmeter to hand to check battery and supply voltage.
Disclaimer - the ablve worked for me, but I'm not responsible for anyone damaging themselves, their PC,their phone or anything else by using the above info!
BUMP! thought my phone was dead, hacked a USB cable and i'm back in business!!!!
TYTN II won't turn on
i left it plugged in all day and when i tried to turn it on it didn't respond. i have a second battery that was fully charged and that didn't work either. i tried a hard reset with it unplugged and with it plugged into the charger. nothing works. i'm on the standard at&t rom with lots of programs. i got it unlocked so i can't go to at&t.

Red Light blink after charge? And battery connecting and disconnecting

I have a problem (yeah, i get out of the camera problem and enter another) I always leave my phone charging in the nigh, yesterday, I unplug the phone as usual, and I saw that the red led indicator was blinking, and i see the battery Icon it was changing, like it was connecting and disconnecting the charger. The problem stops, but when I charge the phone, it comes back for a while, sometimes a Second, sometimes a minute. I try 2 charger and still the problem, with usb too, I factory reset and still. Any advice?
A fear another hardware problem because I am outside of USA. I was using a charger with less Am from the original because my usb cable was damage. BUt today I found a samsung cable and use the original Charger and still the problem. I see that the original charger has 1A, and the other I was using is 700mA.
EDIT: After watching the problem, I can say this.
First, the phone has a problem that the charge cant get 100%, when reach 92%, , Its Jump to 100%.
Second and worst problem, is that the phone present the red blinking light and show like disconnecting and connecting the charge when I put the phone to charge long period of time, or reach por tan 90%. And is not the usb port, because i disconnect the ac adapter first, and still the problem. And even if the phone is off, it show the problem.
So, i read about calibrate the battery, so, i did, the first time, i drain completly the battery, and charge until get the green light. I power up the phone, and still the same, 92% and the phone showing that is connecting and disconnecting.
Today i try again, but more time, i connect the phone at 8:30 AM, and disconnectit at 2 pm (I take a nap at 11 am so xD thats why I disconnect it at 2 pm) I Turn on the phone, and the first problem was solved, the battery was 99%. BUT the problem of disconnecting and connecting is still there, its stops when the phone goes to 96%, always stop after the battery drain about 3%-5% dont know why. I dont have more Ideas, and right now, I cant send it to HTC. Any idea? :/
That means your phone is getting hot
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
So, thats normal? Even if the battery Icon says connecting and disconnecting, even when i turn it off? I really fear something bad, today the problem is not present. But i fear charge my phone overnight now
Oh didn't see the part about battery icon showing connecting disconnecting have you tried with a different cable sounds like the cable or your phones usb port is going bad
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Yes, I try another cable, the weird thing is that I disconnect the charge from the wall (no the part from myphone) and show the problem, so not sure if is the port or something, I'm using again the original charger base, and a usb cable that a friend gave to me. Today the problem isnt back, but I fear chargirng overnight or something, because not sure if the problem will be back or not. Or using my stock base for charge the phone fix it :/

stock charger base is probably the best one to use
the base is more important Than the cable right? I mean,a bad base can damage my phone and a bad quality cable not? I will watch this week if the problem is gone, I hope that was the problem and nothing worse. If happen again i will ask here again if someone have an idea or the same problem.
THanks for your time
Edit: problem back, this time i watch how the problem present. It seem that the problem comes when I want to charge the phone full.
It was 92%, and the next second, was 100% and green light. I disconnect, and show again 92% and start blinking. I connect again and start chargin, but again, 100%, green light and when i disconnect it was 94%. Is weird. Dont know how to fix, I hope is software, any idea?
I will try to calibrate battery, so, i must discharge to 0% right? I must turn off the fastboot option? (I have in spanish, is "Inicio Rapido", I think that is for never shut down completly the phone), then charge to 100% off right?
Somebody any Idea? I discharge my phone, then charge until it get the green light, and the problem persist
Guys, still the problem, if someone know any tool to check hardware can tell me the name? I dont have any Idea of what can I do with my problem. :/ sorry for double post but I cant found any solution yet
Hi again, if someone can help, I still have the problem, but after the third charge cicle (I discharge completly and charge again 4th times now) The problem is less worse, I mean, before, the problem only stop when a 3% of battery was drain, even if I restart the phone. Now, if I restart the phone, the problem stops inmediatly. So, I dont know if dischargin and chargin again will be good, because I read that can damage the phone.
Any Idea? :/ I cant send it to warranty so i dont know what to do
Again the problem persist after a restart. DOnt know why but only happen in a charge more than 90%
I'm problem charging.
My HTC ONE only charges powered off.
Look the video of the problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6NSCccjWkE
I tried the trick of the light (Hold VOL UP + Vol Down + Power button + sensor for front light) fixed, but the problem came up again, and now anything I do it back.
It seems a problem with OTG.
My car charger has an LED indication when the load is connected in the car.
When I connect the HTC, and disconnect the car, the charger light is lit.
The HTC instead of receiving cargo load is sending.

I will try, I'm waiting official kitkat to see if that fix, dont know if doing a clean RUU is better than a factory restore. I cant send towarranty right now
I dont understand the video (and sorry, it was along time and i wasnt able to read here.) Can you explain me better? My problem is still there. I want to try the video, but dont know what they do exactly. I have official 4.3 from ATT
PD: I think that my problem is overcharging o something like that. I already calibrate the battery 5 times, but, for example, right now, it waslike 80%, show the problems. The video I made is to present the problem.
My HTC ONE only charges powered off.
The charger only goes up to 93%. No matter what time I leave plugged into the charger.
Have managed to solve the holding (VOL Down + Power) buttons and pointing the light sensor to strong light (light bulb). Hold for 15 seconds.
Solved, but the problem returned after 1 week
My ROM CUSTOM is ViperOne KitKat.

And, what exactly do this process? My problem is that light blinking when i discconnect my phone, it like connecting and disconnecting, but stops after drain baout 5%. So, i think is something about software or th ebattery is receiving a mistake info about the charging level.
My problem persist. Or I did wrong the procedure :/ My last hope is kitkat xd

[FIX] Revive phone from the drain of death

this is a problem on Xperia Devices (at least the ones with a sealed battery my x10 never had this).
This drain brick happens because the hell i know, but is phone bricked, dark, no light , no vibration, nada, its was a real brick.
how i fixed it? sort of i fixed my Xperia T had to provoke charging but the Z1 doesnt have a red blinking light after charging it for a while... but it does have a magnetic charging port!.
now to the instructions. following what i did to try and revive my phone.
1. try to charge the phone for an hour or so.
2. most like it wont charge but if you connect it to the PC, it will sort of react to it, just try unplugging and plugging the phone till it reacts, you may even leave it to charge there just in case (for about 10 mins if you want i leaved it for 3).
3. get a 2 AMP charger, the original one or a known brand charger like anker (i did it with my anker charger and it worked).
4. get or Use a magnetic cable/dock and connect it simultaniously with the usb cable on the PC. (and no the magnetic cable wasnt enough to jump charge the phone).
5. if the stimulation worked, it should be able to show a really dim red led, that means your phone is still alive
6.let it charge it will turn on alone.
7. smile and cry out of joy because your 500-700 dollar phone still works.
if it worked or you have any modifications on this method leave a comment and hit the THANKS button.
btw i turned on my phone and it had 1% that means it never charged until i jump charged it.
Interesting. For normal charging, will plugging the Z1 to the USB and magnetic ports simultaneously speed up charging as well?

no you can't speed up charging. Charging speed is limited to cable quality, AC plug quality and software/hardware restrictions.
the USB on PC and magnetic cable combo for some reason helps to start the phone like you do when you want to recharge an depleted car battery.
It just open the circuit and let the phone charge again.
someone please confirm if this works for more than one person/situation.
Thanks for assistance btw, hopefully it works for all of us.
Nope doesn't work.
I tried it already.
Sorry guys.
Worked for me. Took some time before PCC registered it though.

as i told you on the PM write up how you bricked it exactly and what steps have you done so i can help you correctly.
i will post pictures of the procedure of how i did it when i get a few hours to edit and upload it.
Tried this trick last night. After 2 hours LED stopped blinking and became stable RED (no flashing). This is the first time in 1 month that LED stopped flashing, I was even able to Hold Power+Volume up button and it vibrated 3 times (nothing like that happened in the past). So it was a significant improvement from where I was 2 days ago. However, LED suddenly turned off and when I connected it to charger again it started to blink again. Buttons do not respond again.
Little info from the past:
I bricked my Z1 when I flashed .290 ROM. Left it on charge for 2 days nothing happened, flashtool would not recognize it and kept saying USB debugging off. Then I decided to open back cover and remove the battery so it could reset. That didnt resolve the issue and i just gave up.
Video instruksion would be very helpfull maybe

Yes. But the computer simply recognised it as a normal "unknown" usb device with usb debugging disabled.

Exact same thing happened to me. "USB debugging off"
All I did was plug in the magnetic connector, then with the PC turned on and Pc companion running I plugged in the USB, it took about 20 minutes to recognise it but once it did, I unplugged it, left it on charge via the magnetic plug for around 5 hours and although the charging symbol never appeared it booted into recovery the normal way (I did that just to see what would happen) then restarted the phone via Cwm and it worked normally from then on.

BY saying "Charging Symbol never appeared", do you mean LED was not red and turned off?

The symbol that appears on the screen.
I also kind of used this method.
I directly plugged in, in these steps.
1) Plug in magnetic charging dock with 1A charger (Plugged USB into charger)
2) Plug in USB with 2.1A charger (Plugged USB into charger)
Dim-ish red light popped up and the phone began booting.
Plugging into the phone for me wasn't as effective as plugging into the charger as I left it for a while and nothing happened but upon plugging USB into my single dual port charger this method worked to get my phone onto the charging screen, Android L
Had to plug the USB in and out a few times, not too many times, but eventually it booted up to the charging screen.
Be patient is the key I suppose?
For me worked with magnetic and usb 1A charger! Thanks!

[Q] Help please - Phone Bricked

I bought a Moto G 2014 Dual Sim XT1068 back in November and hadn't had any issues with it until today. I bought an anger 3000MaH portable battery pack and was amazed at how quickly it charged my phone. I used it yesterday and charged it overnight. I used it throughout today. I turned it off around midday and plugged it into my charger. When I attempted to turn it on later nothing happened. No, please charge, no **** has crashed, just nothing. The screen just stays dark. My computer no longer recognises it as a device and my portable charger will no longer recognise it as a phone to be charged, I know this because it worked with a friends phone, but not mine, and it still has battery (the charger)
What should I do?
Do I use ADB, ask Anker, return it, what is my best course of action?
If anyone knows what to do please reply as until this is fixed I do not have any ideas.
PS; No rooting, bootloader unlocking, or use of custom ROMs has occurred, the phone is completely using stock android.

I soft-bricked mine yesterday because TWRP kept crashing when I flashed my ROM. During my search for a solution I ran into a post from a guy with a similar problem of yours. His phone wouldn't charge at all.
He solved his problem by pressing PWR+VolDwn for 3 minutes. Then plug it in to a charger and leave it be. And make sure to use a proper charger (cable straight from the wall preferably)
Give that a try. Try ruling out a hardware problem. And return it as a last resort. Good luck

TRY this plug in charger and hold power for 2 mins+ to force a reset and forced boot up - holding for 120 seconds + is the key and repeat charger cable must be plugged in.
- power and volume down is normally to get to AP fastboot flash mode, agreed a good wall charger is needed not usb port power.

Okey, you are probably right. I was quoting from my foggy mind

Mi Mix almost totally dead - is there life?

Ok, it's been a couple days since I posted on the Q&A about my Mi Mix suddenly not turning on after powering it down with close to a 100% battery. Now, for the first time since this happened I plugged it into my computer (Mac) and although the computer didn't recognize it as being attached the led light above the charging port is flashing red every half second. Any thoughts or ideas?

Looks like your device switched to QCOM 9008 Download mode.
It should be detectable via MiFlash; you will probably need to flash a fastboot rom with full factory reset.
But try the following first:
- disconnect from charging for 1 day
- charge it for a few hours
- hold on the power button for 2 minutes
I'm happy to report that my phone is now working again! I have no idea what happened but after charging it in the official charger and cable for a while it took a charge and changed green then powered up. Really hope it doesn't happen again though

Cool, probably battery percent froze so looking full when actually it was flat.
my own xiaomi wont start too
My Xiaomi Mi Mix showed low battery sign so I plugged it in to charge. The phone immediately went off. I pressed the power button to restart it, it showed the Xiaomi logo then immediately went off and since then (this was 2 days ago) it has not powered on.
Kindly note the following:
1. It didnt have water spilled on it
2. It didnt fall or have any mechanical damage
The only thing was, the battery was low, I plugged it in to charge and it went off and never came on again. I have used the same charger to charge other phones so I doubt if the charger is the source of the problem.
Kindly help, what is wrong with the phone?
thanks
