Yes, it depends on your network to enable conferencing calling.
I know for a fact that o2 do not allow whereas 3 do. That is in the UK.
o2 does have a conferencing calling feature but all parties have to dial a separate number then join the calls, although this is not a conventional conferencing calling facility direct from the phone but a 3rd party feature.
Hi guys i got idea here, hope its possible, as android is open source, anything can be routed to anywhere, only if i had that talent to do programming on ANDROID i would have tried it. Look at picture and you would understand
why not just use the access number for your SIP provider? that way you can make a VoIP call for the cost of a normal phone call to the access number.
Callwithus is a good SIP provider for this purpose as it has reliable access numbers to use. I think Callcentric and voip.ms do as well.
what if i dont have local call number for my sip providers? only thing i can hope for best is this. Think of calling to USA while living in INDIA, when u dont have local access numbers nor do have internet.??

I'm probably missing something obvious, but why can't you just use the N1 to make the VOIP call directly?
all someone has to do is incorporate sip and stuff into a single program.
well nexus one is my primary phone and its always connected to internet, but my gf dont have nexus, nor do she got smartphone with voip, so if she wants to call there, and i m in office, i wanted something that can make that possible.
Almost free kind of calling, she call my NEXUS, and make my nexus dial her wanted number using SIP over WIFI, so virtually she talking through my NEXUS but speaking in her phone.

In that case, Callwithus has a feature.. they have a special access number that doesn't actually pick up (so that you will not be charged). the system will then call you back and prompt you to enter the number you want to dial, routes it over VoIP, and you're connected. check it out.
it wont work. it would cost like double for me. and one more thing, its not that what i want or what i can?
its just IDEA so that XDA community can make it possible. Its like exploring possibility of Android OS, to make it as a SERVER to forward calls received in GSM, through VoIP.
Its something thats never been done, or never even tried by anyone.
The basic is
1st person calls nexus one phone [local number so it be cheap]
NEXUS pick up call automatically {developed server software running}
NEXUS beeps[this mean sipdorid active][so can now enter number (international, which could have been deep hole in pocked if called direct)]
1st person, enter desired number as DTMF, and press # to confirm.
NEXUS dials that number though VoIP SIPDROID. Phone connected. And join that VoIP call with GSM call.

That's the problem with the idea--there is currently no way to bridge the SIP call with the GSM call. Even call recorder apps (post-Donut) are not possible because Android does not allow access to the incoming audio. Even if somehow you compiled your own custom kernel and ROM to accomplish that, your problem would be that neither Sipdroid nor 3CXPhone allow bridging calls other than SIP (as they are native SIP clients that do not interface with GSM). Perhaps if Gingerbread gives access to incoming audio, something could be done.
as for the callback approach "costing double," that's just not true. Termination to India (landline and mobiles) is only 1 US cent. Plus, you will not be using any of your airtime credit because it will be an incoming call for you, so in the end you save quite a bit of money since you will only be paying the usual rate + 1 cent per minute. (So, a call to the U.S. would cost you a total of 1.9 cents/min, for example.)
That's the practical solution to your issue.
its not issue, and there are no number in that website for india. and one more thing, google allow us to control audio, thats how AUDIO mod came out, and also thats how A2DP bluetooth started to work on desire roms with FM. Plus if we see, sipdroid as opensource, and someone developes way to do that, i m sure sipdroid team will do it possible to use sip with that.

Unfortunately, as I said, Android does not expose the incoming audio stream from a GSM call.
That has nothing to do with FM radio or A2DP, since those are not related to GSM calls.
And you can indeed use Callwithus from India by using either the caller-ID based callback feature as I explained before, or by using their web callback feature. Either way, their system will call you and then connect the call and you will not have to use up any of your airtime credit since it would be an incoming call for you. You would pay the usual termination rate (plus the 1 cent/min charge for terminating your end of the call to your India number)
Hey everyone,
I have a bit of a weird issue here. I have a note 8 from Verizon which everyone knows comes unlocked. I am using it on AT&T and everything works well except for one thing. For some reason when I receive phone calls from people, it shows on the screen with a + sign in front of the phone number. So if someone calls me that is in my contact book, it will not show their name since there is no + sign in my contact book. So also now in my call history if I try to call that number back it sounds like it is trying to make an international call. I have no idea what is happening. Data, texts and calls work but instead of getting a call from 9999999999 I get +9999999999.
Please help me out here, I love the phone!!
Zachary
I've read about this issue before. Googling 'incoming calls show +' gives you some leads.
In short it seems to be related to Dialling Assistance settings (note spell error, is as in settings...). I couldn't find those via the regular settings (used to be accessible via settings in Phone app), but I could via the app 'Shortcut Master (Light)' ...
Search for 'dialing' and then launch:
'com.android.phone.operator.usa.AssistedDialingActivity'. My settings (N950U1) are as per SS...
Try playing with these settings.
Hi all,
I apologise in advance for the length, but was wondering if anyone had encountered this issue, and what they did to resolve it, if so.
The above errors come from the Xiaomi SIM Activation Service.
I'm running MIUI 12.5 Enhanced (CN ROM), 12.5.12.
A few days ago (from September 10th on), I started noticing errors with message and call history sync. Message sync would say "failed to get SIM info", while call history sync would simply say it was interrupted, and to try again. Of course, trying again for both never did anything.
Prior to this, I never had any issues with syncing call history or messages to the cloud.
Troubleshooting
• I've tried wiping the phone, rebooting, and trying with different SIMs, including logging out and back into my Mi Account.
• My providers have confirmed no issues sending the SMS's from their end, I have enough credit, and no "send/receive international SMS block" in place.
• Some solutions on the Internet say to enable data roaming and reboot, which didn't work. They also speak of allowing all permissions for the SIM Activation Service - (unless I am missing something), there are no permissions to allow, they simply don't appear when I look at the Service in "Apps", under Settings.
Outcome
Effectively, this means I can't sync my messages and call history to the cloud - this is also replicated across multiple MIUI smartphones that I use as testbeds, and a bug report has been submitted to Xiaomi.
All other sync services work fine.
The only thing I can do now, is periodically backup messages and call history to external storage.
Anyone have any ideas I can try, please?
Yesterday, after a read xiaomie installation, I had the same problem, I could not activate the SIM card and synchronize sms.
Today I set the language of the English UK and US region. I turned on mobile data and turned off wifi.
Such a liking was able to activate the SIM.
Unfortunately I get sms sync error, maybe it's a bug on the xiaomi server side. But the activation was successful.
Very simple answer. Sorry to say- I have taken service providers to the ombudsman. It's the service provider. They prevent the Sim identification and also international SMS from going through. Xiaomi, in their complicity, have taken away the feature showing the international SMS (it is now just one bar, not two). Phone says under device "Sim card not installed or activated"...yet it is. So, they prevent that at Optus, AMAYSIM, Vodafone.. whomever. They ALL do it. Why? They don't have anything better to do and enjoy the power, control and frustrating the ship out of customers. If you search the internet, if you have service, yet can't sync call history and SMS, it is the SERVICE PROVIDER GAMING YOU! WELCOME TO PLANET EARTH.
Also, it prevents call recording. Great game master controllers.
I'm new here joined hoping to get clued in,
I have a new to me tab active 2 and it suits my needs and I like it but I am a bit confused over a lot of different information I run into,
In my case I'm using a tello sim for service which is good for my area and the sim came with a phone number I assumed from online reading i could make calls and use the tab for text but it would seem I can not tello said my device doesn't support voLTE so I hope some of you gurus can tell me what I can and can't do with this tab call and text wise perhaps suggests apps,
I do not make many actual calls so in most cases I can use Facebook messenger call feature if it's a friend but what about that once in a while I need to call a restaurant or car parts store etc I'm I simply out of luck making such calls on this device?
And so does that also rule out text messages, for example if i wanted to use that tello number so a craigslist buyer seller could hit me is that out of the question too on this device?
Many thanks,
Bats
