Everything seemed to update smoothly except one of my most used features, the mobile hotspot on Nex6. When I enable it it reports as an "error". Any help?
Flash the ex kernel, as recommended in the thread, for hotspot to function..

Flash the BlackBird kernel. His latest is as good as it gets.
Thank you to all who put a little time and thought into helping someone out. I guess the new normal is the others who have more time to critique the subject of a question instead of simply providing a little knowledge.
Owning a Nexus device period is enough to belong to a community of people who enjoy learning about development and Android OS and the capabilities of smartphone technology. Most of us learn from trial and error or researching the internet.
Basically I'm sick of trolls who think they are the public internet forum police, lashing out at anyone who might have a question that boosts egos which hide behind the screen of anonymity. Normally I can look past these acts but sometimes you just want to use the app or site for information, questions and answers.

I have been using Pure Nexus 6.0.1 for near 2 years now so I didn't even think to read in detail. The title made it seem stable enough. I knew there was an simple fix. I sincerely appreciate the time and answers.:good:

Thanks, I wasn't aware a different kernel had to be flashed, everything seems to be working now.

Please don't take this the wrong way... Is not that people don't want to help, it's that some people don't search before posting a question. I've seen people ask a question where the answer was posted 1 minute before they asked the question. I've seen the same question get asked and answered multiple times on the same page. When you've been in a thread long enough you will see the same thing and you will say "I see what they're talking about". Me, I see the same questions, but I don't answer them with smart remarks. I just stay quiet. I've learned to search first, or wait and my problem will surely get asked about from someone else. Enjoy your phone.. And keep asking questions when you don't know the answer.

Well when I'm searching for one simple answer and I see that there's thousands for posts, then the simpler solution for myself is to post a question. My issue may be different than someone else's. Regardless of any excuse I may have I still do not understand what you want me to do. Why do you feel you have to correct the way I use a site in a way that does not affect you whatsoever. It takes the topic away from a tech question and makes it about your opinion , that's not why I posted the op. Thankfully there's those who are on here that will post a solution.
So now that I've taken a few minutes to address your concern the same way you have, when it's all over and done we have both just wasted our time. I am gonna take a guess and assume that you probably share your opinion on what you disagree on with other users. Its pointless unless the point is to get a reaction from people

Just so you know I will be logging out of XDA forums because the amount of troll activity is not even worth the simple questions answer. Btw I research way before I even consider asking someone. I posted in the ****ing Nexus 6 general troubleshooting, and I'm pretty sure my question met the requirement. You should be grateful that people like myself even use XDA at all for any information, there is only millions of other sites who offer the same info.

Again.. No disrespect intended... And I do love to debate( my wife says that I get on her nerves). I don't consider our conversation a waste of my time. I appreciate the fact that you addressed it. Yes, you can post your way, speak freely, burn the flag, carry a weapon, rush an old lady across the street, or use politically incorrect terms if you want. I agree with your right to do it your way.
People would rather spend hours debating and telling you to search for a similar post instead of giving you 5 minutes of there time helping you. Welcome to XDA!
I had the same question as you regarding mobile hotspot. I went into the development thread, I clicked "search this thread" at the top, typed "mobile hotspot", and had my answer quicker then typing a new question.
I need opinions on smartwatches that have the features listed below from as many people as possible, preferbly people who currently own or have owned the watches that they are recomending.
Must have these features:
3g cell connectivity (preferably with SIM but not a must)
GPS
Physical buttons
Long battery life both between charges and overall
At least water resistant but preferably waterproof
Sturdy build i. e. won't fall off when being worn with highly rigorous activity
These features are optional but prefered:
Camera
Speaker
Microphone
Any other features dont make any difference to me if the watch has them or not.
Thanks in advance for your answers

Well I just needed to vent about my love for everything android, and every time I try and talk to my friends\family about what new phone I am wanting to get, or what's coming up next in my Android-venture, I get the typical, " why do you even want a new phone? You have a perfectly good one right there" response. Thing is, they don't know I own a good 10 more phones I have locked away in a little burglar proof vault, like the precious "Gems" that they are :good:. But on a serious note, I am in need of a higher end phone but don't feel like spending a whole paycheck to get one, as I have bills, on top of bills, and you guessed it, on top of bills. So I figure, maybe I am in the realm of a good 300 to 400 dollar range, I figure about as much as a new Xbox or PS would cost, I could easily get away with that without too much headache. So getting to the point of this post haha, what phones have any of you XDA "Devs" or any other person of interest, have had or used at one point, or even have just been looking at like that " dog in the window" type ish, that you would recommend I take a look at? I am not set on any brand or manufacture seeing as I own phones from all across the board zte, Samsung, lg, ect. As long as a root and twrp have been achieved on it, I say she's fair game. . I would greatly appreciate some feedback\and or advice on this subject as seeing it is Christmas tomorrow ?, and I will be Raking in the Benjamins and I would like an informed decision before I go "candy shopping" for new phonez (ya I went there with the z) in good ole' Twenty 18!

Is this even a thing? If so, would there be a market for it? for the service of doing it of course, for people who want to have stuff done to there phone but not wanting to break it? I'm trying to do research for my new business idea before I get started taking steps for it. Also if I'm not allowed to post this here please move this thread this is my first post ?

I don't develop as a business or anything like this but, my guess would be to refer you to the following area of the forum that seems to include this topic as well.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/marketing-analytics
I'm sure that there's other thread throughout the forum that involves this topic but, that area could be a good start for obtaining some additional information and, possibly, member guidance within one of the thread there.
Good Luck!

Not really. Most companies have locked Bootloaders and Tight security practices. Makes difficult for individuals to justify upgrading to newer ROMs..
It would really piss some person off if Android Pay doesn't work or KNOX is triggered.
I noticed that the 6.2 inch S21 has it's own dedicated forum with the typical group of threads that XDA always offers - Questions, News, Development/Roms, Accessories. However, I have not been able to find a dedicated forum for the S21 Ultra? There is only this thread - which only allows us to combine our comments/requests/news or whatever into a single thread - which obviously does not offer any kind of organization of similar threads like XDA usually does.
Am I missing something ? Is there a forum like the S21 Forum for the S21 Ultra? If so - Link please? If there isn't one, why not? Why would the basic S21 get it's own group of 4 threads while the S21 Ultra only gets one? in case I am not making myself clear, here is a link to the S21 Thread - S21 Dedicated Threads let me know if you know of something similar for the S21 Ultra.
I couldnt find one too
It is definately needed. This is very messy

Agreed.
Be careful what you wish for. When the S20 first came out, the S20U had its own dedicated forum with sub-groups for reviews, etc. Then they decided to merge EVERYTHING, and a lot of the S21U specific posts from the previous month or two were just wiped away. Personally, I would think there should be one S21 main forum, with sub-groups that are either distinct or separate, as appropriate (e.g. apps could be combined for all S21, but real life reviews should be separate for each). I don't know why they can't get this right.
I, too, would like this.

Greeting guys. While I know that the new forum layout isn't what we're all used to, this is XDA going forward since the migration to the new platform. This new "Prefix" based system should help with speed, indexing and searching once a few of the kinks are worked out. I know we are all creatures of habit, but as the saying goes, "The only constant in life is change."
I hope you will all be patient and understanding going forward, and will grow to like the new platform as time marches on, and we appreciate members such as yourselves being the backbone of what makes XDA a great place to learn, share, and do what we love doing to our devices. Even if that means creating a very expensive paperweight from time to time.

As a small feedback, please consider putting the filters as buttons on top of the list (of the threads), in order to select or de-select one or more categories. Should be much more user-friendly

Thanks for the follow up and detailed explanation. It all makes sense - and I hope XDA will remain open to listening to it's members for the occasional adjustment - if it is deemed appropriate.
One quick thought - assuming a group of phones like S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra, would we have a main thread that combines all the phones together - much like the S20 Note has done - then threads like this thread for the Ultra might be inside that "mother thread" ? Just a thought. In the meantime, I love XDA and will be around for a long time - "if the lord is wiling and the creek don't rise"..... Thanks again....

i like it this way, much easier to view new posts
instead of clicking multi sub group to find new posts.
Ive been trying to get used to the format but i dont like having all the topics in one thread.
I prefer to have the sub forums of old so i can read what i want to read in that specific forum and not have to sift through a bunch of stuff i dont care about .
Ive been spending much less time here because of this, its thats frustrating. Hopefully enough people will raise this same thing and things will change!
So many posts that are intermingled together that initially rely on the correct prefix to be relevant are causing me issues, I'll try to get used to it, but I don't see benefits .
I also thought that buying bitcoin at 3 dollars was stupid, just saying...
I mean how would prefix this, which I think is true BTW.?
Samsung money card won't run initial activation on Samsung pay unless you have chrome installed .
Samsung browser will not work, I've tried it and thought it was a bad firmware install but it isn't.
Does any body else have this issue?

I agree with that. And I want to add to it:
Once you filter a category (say with the proposed button which is a very good solution) and you want to MARK it READ, this action should solely mark read this category only, not the entire forum!
edit: I'll post it here too.
