Hey guys,
I have one Samsung Galaxy Note 8 SM-N950F and one Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus SM-G955FD
Both are running on Samsung Experience 9.0 (Android O 8.0.0) with latest updates installed.
I'm not liking the stock Oreo ROM and hence I want to go back to Stock Nougat ROM which had better app shortcuts in the launcher
Requesting developers and other senior members to share a guide on how to downgrade back to Nougat.
Thank You

It's allot easier to just install Nova Prime
- R. Kruse Ludington
Galaxy Note 8<-5<-3<-S3<-Nexus; Droid X; HTC HD2<-Touch Pro 2<-Tilt<-8525; O2 XDA II<-XDA; Motorola StarTac
Download a 4 parts firmware for your device and country and flash it with Odin.
The boatloader isn't downloadable to all nougat versions. Best is, try the latest nougat version.
If you get a flash error, try to flash it without bootloader part.

Hi, thanks for the reply, but the launcher is not only the main concern. There are other factors, such as 6 parallel apps and better battery performance in Nougat than in O

Yo all!! Take a look at this article on sammobile
http://www.sammobile.com/2016/12/19/galaxy-tab-s2-running-nougat-surfaces-on-gfxbench/
The tab S2 had the same CPU/GPU as our note 4, if nougat come to the tab s2 why not to our note 4? I dont lost my hope :good:
What do you think about this?
I dont think nougat will come to N4. N4 was too old already

Hi.
And after the failure of n8 they could do it.
Best regards.

Yeah, but whit the note 7 failure, and the note 5 that dont be sold on europe, it can be possible, almost on a custom ported rom, like as the s3 neo whit the port rom 5.1.1 from the galaxy A5 if i dont be bad
Pd: sry for my bad english
Note4 dont get nougat update. This is already confirmed by Samsung.
Best Regards

My phone is not rooted, though I stopped updating at 7.1.1 because apparently the ability to root was patched out soon after. I still don't really plan on rooting, but it would be nice if I had the option.
Is there any way to root my phone (if it isn't already) after updating to 8.x or the 9.0 beta?
No, currently not and I think it is very unlikely it will be possible in near future.
What about rooting beforehand? I know the bootloader was never unlocked, so I'm guessing there are no custom ROMs that I could update to, right?

I am not sure about this but rooting through magic works for us on exynos variant and I think there was a root kind of option for snapdragon like a bootstrapper, doesn't that work or the combination factory firmware?

1. NO , Doesn't matter you'll lose the chance to root when you update to oreo (that comes with bootloader v4) and pie!
2. This thread (link below) and the WETA rom is the only nougat 7.1.1 custom rom for SM-N950u/u1.

Be careful once you update your bootloader to version 4 you'll lose root period.
edit. For corrections with oreo root. You can update to oreo As Long As the bootloader is v3.

The version you have now is so much slower that you have long ago lost any benefits of waiting to root!

The early versions of Oreo used bootloader 3.

I'll probably just go ahead and update then. I used to root every phone, so that was important when I first bought it, but in over a year I haven't needed it once. Probably not worth staying on a much older version for something I likely won't use.
Thank you for the replies!
I have this same problem i'm on unrooted nougat 7.1.1 and have been patiently waiting for a bootloader unlock. But, one ui is looking so good I might just give up and update. I also use samsung pay and other things that I would lose with root/BL unlock.

Yeah, I was holding out hope for a BL unlock, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Most people seem to be shifting their focus to newer phones, which is understandable.
First rooted device: HTC touch pro
First personally rooted device: Asus Nexus 7 first gen
Current devices: LG Stylo 6 (looking for suitable custom ROM), Unlocked Samsung Note 20, Samsung Galaxy 8 stuck on Google Security screen (tried going the ODIN route, no success, would love some guidance thereon)
Cheers.

If HTC then old timer!
I'm some random person that just... does stuff. I'm really interested in technology. I have a Galaxy J7 (rooted, with Lineage and TWRP) and a Galaxy A42 5G (planning to install TWRP), and I'm planning to buy a Google Pixel 4a (for the express purpose of installing GrapheneOS)

Hello,
do you think it would be possible to extract edge Pro ROM and install it on a Samsung phone. To then be able to use ReadyFor on the Samsung phone?
Sincerely,
Frem

I have not found any Samsung devices with a Snapdragon 870 processor.
I know that the Xiaomi POCO F3 / Redmi K40 ported the firmware from Moto Edge 20 Pro to Android 11.
Sorry to ask, but who is going to occupy themselves with this nonsense?
My goal is to make ReadFor app fully work on a S10E or S22 Samsung device, because the phone is small and Motorola phones are all too big.
What's you wrong with the Samsung DeX?
The devices (S10E & S22) you specified are on the list of supported devices.
