Any idea how I can get back the Microsoft Translator app? - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Apparently the microsoft translated app is specially made for the p20 pro's AI thing.
I removed it before finding this out. Any idea?

It's so simple just search Google... The official app is in Microsoft page and you can download the version for Android free... I had install this app to all my devices, phones, tablet... Just search and it will take you to official Microsoft site

Yeah but apparently its preloaded with a version specially made for the p20 pro? Or is it just preloaded with the same one that is on the play store?

I don't think it's a special version for P20 pro because Im using it often with Samsung tab s2 and Samsung A5 and I can't find any deference

It was a special version for the phone ai

Use Google translate

Does it have offline voice translate?

As far as I'm aware this is the same version you find in the store. The optimization will be automatically enabled on our device.
I just searched for the app in the store it says already installed and I did not install it manually.

The Playstore version is pretty much the same, I have used both.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.translator

This version is simply no longer available
This is because a dedecated AI chip is no longer necessary for on-device AI translation.
"Because of the computing power needed to run these high-quality translation models, this capability was only available online. In the latter part of 2017, this capability was made available on specific Android phones equipped with a dedicated AI chip. It allowed their users to get offline translation quality that was on par with the quality of online neural translation.
Building on this initial work, the Translator team was able to further optimize these algorithms, allowing them to run directly on any modern device’s CPU without the need for a dedicated AI chip. The new Translator apps now bring NMT to the edge of the cloud for all Android, iOS, and Amazon Fire devices. Support for Windows devices is coming soon." -Microsoft
TL;DR: The technology can now run on any device, not only those with a dedicated AI-chip. Because of this, I assume that because of this the special version for Huawei devices has been discontinued. It is simply no longer necessary

is anyone able to port Iphone games to android?
I´m referring to the game called godville it´s a free game.
i'm looking forward to VillageSim that i was playing with when using Palm and WM
Most of the time, not easily.. Almost all iPhone games/apps are written in Objective C, but Android is mostly Dalvik (which is Java-Like). Apple used to ban the creation of apps which didn't use their development suite too.
You could speak to the developer, but it probably needs nothing less than a rewrite..

damn, well ive written the developer
Godville isn't an iPhone game, it is a web game with a fully functioning iPhone client.
There is a monitoring app for Android, but it isn't all that great. I find the information to be out-of-date, and you have to launch a browser to take any actions in the game.
So instead of trying to port the iphone client to android, we should be asking if there is a developer that would write an android app, using the Godville API
just started playing godville, and came across this thread. Just so you know there is actually a full app on android that is very similar to the one for iphone, but in Russian... and just wondering if anyone thats fluent in russian can translate or somehow make an english version of it??
here's the link: http://www.appbrain.com/app/годвилль/ru.godville.android

Porting Android Auto to existing Windows CE car headunits

Hey folks. Apologies if this is in the wrong area. Now that Android Auto is announced (http://www.android.com/auto/), I know there are lots of folks with Windows CE-based car headunits. I'm wondering if we could start a conversation about getting Android Auto set up on those head units. I have no idea what would be involved, but I want to see if it's a possibility for discussion.
I would also be interested in this if it is possible to port it to other windows or Microsoft based systems.
Yeah I'm bumping this for sure - I've got Microsoft Sync in mine, but it's the non-touch version, so I'm not sure if Android Auto could be configured for that hardware...
You can pretty much forget about this idea right now guys. Even the most advanced and most recent CE head units use hardware that is so outdated that even 1st gen android phones look cutting edge in comparsion (typically 400-800mhz single core processors and 128-256mb of ram). Even if it was somehow done it would be a serious pain in the behind to use.
Simply put no it will not happen
99.9 percent of windows ce devices are armv6
Only first gen android runs on that and android 5.0 requires atleast armv7
Ot would require a complete rewrite of android from the ground up and thats 2-3 yrs work if you can find a team of about 30 devs all willing to give up their day jobs to do it for free
90 percent of all android head units available already will not see auto at all just like all the android watches that will mever receive wear

That's assuming that Android Auto is running full-blown Android. My understanding is that the phone is doing all of the heavy lifting and the head unit is effectively a "dumb display" similar to MirrorLink. If that's the case, then the head unit doesn't need to do much and they are probably using some pretty low-spec hardware already. Now, if you're trying to get Android 5.0 on these systems so you can run Android Auto without a separate phone, then I agree - most headunits will not be able to handle that with their low specs
Anybody have any info on what the head unit is actually running on an Android Auto system? Does Google provide anything as an example, or is it strictly APIs and left unto the car/HU manufacturers to figure it out?

Need the same type of specs just look at the moto 360 and lg watch
Way to powerful to have on a windows ce device
The watches are also nothing more then a notification mirror on a digital watch with specs of over 1ghz cpu and 512mb ram the most powerdul windows ce device is the htc hd2
Which runs a 1ghz cpu and 512 mb of ram in the eu model

This one's important to remember. Android Auto is on your phone, not embedded into the car. This is the same approach Apple took with CarPlay and is probably the best way to go about it. The auto manufacturers build support for the platform into their own systems – many built on top of the BlackBerry owned QNX OS – and then Android Auto becomes visible to you when you connect your phone.

The head unit is not running Android (although I suppose it could). The head unit is running whatever OS the manufacturer wants and interacts with the phone, acting as somewhat of a dumb terminal to display information from the phone. The phone is running the meat and potatoes of the Android Auto solution.

Does anyone know of a car infotainment system that has been rooted? I am thinking of installing one in my 2005 Subaru Outback and am hoping to have something that I can install my preferred apps on. I know I can use my Nexus 7 to do it but I'd prefer more of a 'drop in' unit.

That's not android auto for Windows CE, but this app Easyconnected allows you to mirror everything from your Android phone through usb cable. Just activate usb debugging on developer options.
I know it's in Chinese, but nothing that Google translator couldn't help.

I've got to run it on my Hyundai OEM navigation, made by Motrex. It works perfectly, but I had to use an old version to change the language to English, hacking the zip file with languages, I've exchanged the file name with English phrases to the Chinese file name.
In the newer versions, this zip file has a password and I didn't find another way to exchange the language from Chinese.
Can you elaborate on how you got it working? I've got a 2013 Santa Fe Sport (Limited; nav) and would kill for this. I've been searching junkyards for 2017 head units lol
I've used total commander disguised as an update (renamed it as update.exe inside the folder update) on a flash drive, and the my head unit recognize it as an update.
When I go to settings - > update, total commander opens and after it I can run whenever program I want.
P.S. only works in Motrex headunits which are used by Hyundai in Russia and Latin America. European, Korean and American cars use another head units.

Hi guys. I install the application from carbit.cn , it is a good software, I was able to mirroring my Android phones (Samsung S4 and S6 edge also S4 mini ) to WinCe 6.0 , but I want to have this app in English , not in Chinese , I tried to rename the file from zip archive languages, res_Lang_CHN.xml to res_Lang_EN.xml , because in app the isn't a option to change language, but the program remain in chinese language, I saw just a few words are translated , the zip file has a password, I can't extract the xml file to be able to change it , have you any idea how I can do this ? Also there is an android app called CarMan.apk , witch is also in chinese , how I can skip not to install ?
Regards,
Emil

[Q] Android Wear Compatibility for Nokia X2

I am planning to buy a Android Wear (Specifically the Moto 360).
I've already checked the android wear test site and it was compatible with my Nokia X2 (because it was based on 4.3}.
I still have doubts if this can run alongside with my phone knowing that this phone initially doesn't support Google Apps.
Can anyone confirm that this (Nokia X2) is working with an android wear product.

Question, do we need the android wear app to be installed to nokia x2. If so, does the app require google play services?
Sent from my Nokia X2 using Tapatalk
You need to know that everything that you will do with your android wear watches is ask google voice search (run apps, reply messages and everything else). So, of course you need installed google play services, play store and google now app (and actually many more google apps because other's developers apps not compatibility with android wear.

The Moto 360 has suddenly stopped as incompatible on http://g.co/WearCheck when checking from the X2. It say's 4.3 is required and your phone is Android but not a 4.3 :S
That's weird. It showed as compatible a few weeks ago.

Official Google Play Store Dark Theme mod on Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo, Pie

New nonroot method on Post 8#
Google Play Store Dark mode wth root ,Xposed and an additional app/apk. However, the app does not require root and may work as a standard alone.
Tested on Samsung Note 4 n910p api 23.
First, download Xposed module "Google PS Dark
Theme Enabler" by Alex193a. Activate module, reboot, and launch Google Play Store app, tap top left 3 bar icon and go to settings. theme and toggle Dark. If this works then there is no need to proceed any further. If not, try developer options dark mode and enabled it.
As for me, there was no such option provided anywhere in the settings and although, I enabled Dark in the Play Store, the theme remained unchanged.
Second, if you still dont have Dark Play Store themed yet then I suggest trying "Night Mode" by Subham Tyagi. This app provides the ability toggle dark mode when none is present and should not be confused with a screen filter or dimmer.
A BIT OF A WARNING
This app/apk is not available on the Play Store, however, it is available on F-Droid" or "G-Driod".
I am not the developer of either the Xposed module nor the Night Mode app. Furthermore, Google constantly updates the Play Store and this may or may not work in the future.
Screen Shots
Update and possible work around (un-tested)
I still have dark mod theme working on lasted uodate
However toggle is missing that is necessary to enable this mod to begin with s I offer this as a suggestion.

Thank you for posting and welcome
You seem educated with android but perhaps you miss understood. This mod is not on paper. The theme is applied to Note 4 marshmallow 6.0.1. . Testing technical characteristic and sythetic testing , as you suggest, "applies to the Note 4". (the real world).
I should mention, I was aware of this but think it is of provides useful information .
In fact you seem so confident. and your methods so Scientific , then you have must have technical data based evidence and the data from te systematic testing that " applies to the Note 4" as you mention. Just to be clear, this is necessary to add creditability to you statement., otherwise it is simply conjecture, opinion, speculation, theory, fantasy, fiction and just irrational whimsical Jibber jabber. iBack it with Empirical evidence and provie factual data . To mention technical, synthetics tests but offer not fact. Really?
I will also "speculate" , that when you mention "we often pay attention" that perhaps you taking a class or course and wish to in lighten us hear on XDA. ; ) Great! . Formal training will provide a strong foundation and that is a fact but I also submit that if a person thonks they know everthing how can there learn anything new.
I admit I found a bit of humor in you statement "and that also applies to the Note 4" LOL, If you think sbout it hshahehe. WoW, Google is currently development of Android 11 and 64bit is a requirement in submitting apps to Google play store by 2021, recent changes and app bundles ank api's ,security issues, and anti-trust bearig down on Googe Android ? That the Note 4 released way back in 2014 os of that much importance. You real crack me. up!!! aThanks for the laugh bro... LOL. Your Hilarious. Thanks for the laughs.
I also wish to encourage you to continue with you education. PleaseI have mentioned will prove useful in other endeavors. I welcome your data that specificly " applies to the Note 4". Thank you. I cant stop laughing .. For real...
uhI will say , Im glad somebody posted. I just never expected it to be do funny. "and that also applies to the "Note 4" OK.

China to UK swap?

OK, having taken the brave (for me) step of ordering a phone from China, I'm now starting to understand the downsides - a whole range of options that don't work here... Celia, Docs, Video, and more every day.
Now I find me thinking the unthinkable (again for me) of trying to make it a UK phone - but is it easy, simple and foolproof?
One issue straight off though - it's a Mate 40 RS which is of course not available in the UK - is it even possible??
Thanks.
Would you like to swap for an UK version mate40 pro?

No problem. Currently at work. Will let you know when I get home. This is my second Chinese phone. First one was Oppo Find X2 pro earlier this year, that was a disaster, couldnt replace a lot of default apps including the messaging app, some of the text was stuck in chinese. Even after I root it to replace the apps, kept getting error messages. I'm certainly not an expert when it comes to Chinese phones.
Currently on my Pro +, besides no google services which I would not have anyways even if I bought global, I don't notice any difference, coming from a global P30 pro. I'm glad I got the pro+ for the OIS, 10x telephoto, and freeform UW lens. Definitely worth it.
Update:
Huawei docs is not working, says not available in region.
Huawei assistant I have disabled on the homescreen, but it looks like its chinese only
Spooky... I tried the Oppo Find X2 Pro as well but wasn't keen.
