Hi. I am using note 8. I recently moved a few applications to the sd card. Initially it was ok. After i restarted the phone, i noticed that the icons (of the moved app) while appeared as normal in the Home Screen, the icons were replaced with the icon of a sd card(with the android guy) on the Application Screen. Any solutions please?

Do the icons always stay like that? Even after 5 minutes after booting?
Yes. Like forever.
I discovered something. Under Home Screen Settings - Home Screen Layouts, i am currently on Home and Apps screens. If i choose Home Screen only then all the app icons reappear, even if i were to change back to Home and Apps screens. But if i were to restart my note again, the icons disappears again
The app probably got corrupted during the transfer process. I would recommend that you uninstall and reinstall it.
I did that. Didn't help.
Apps mounted on SD card
I have the same issue. A number of apps that i recently moved to my SD card now appear as greyed out. The app works ... the icon is just grey. Is there a problem? Is there a fix?
thanks,
Brian
Do yall have a 10x sd card. Might take a while to load from sd as the system needs to read entire sd before loading. The fuller the sd the slower they will load. Try unmounting the sd. Some apps dont like being xfer to sd because of their constant running services in background. I had a similar problem where the shortcut was grayed out just had to delete and add new shortcut but your is backwards.

One of my friend having the same issue is using samsung evo+ (ultra high speed class 10 sd card). I have unmounted my sd card, formatted the card with the same result.

I personally dont move apps to sd card. Just pics, music, files. With our phones having so much storage I haven't used it since gingerbread days. Here's an development article that the app devs must integrate into their apps.

Samsung recently updated Samsung Home Experience (formerly touchwiz) to version 9.0.10.76 and screwed it up. Uninstall the update and your icons will return. You'll need to wait for them to fix the bug unfortunately.

What didn't work? Uninstalling or the SD Cards issue?
You can try the workarounds that are out there as well but the issue will keep coming back every time you reboot.
1) Force stop Samsung Experience Home
2) Switch to easy mode and then back again

Yeah, come on Samsung...fix this...not a big issue but sure is an eyesore
Just go to settings->apps. Then scroll til you get to Samsung Experience Home and just force stop it. Not a permanent fix but it gets the job done.

[Update: Screenshots below]
I just installed the latest update for Android Market (was v3.0.27 now v3.1.3).
First things I checked out were the Announced +1 buttons and PIN lock for Purchases features but I've noticed something else interesting.
First thing I noticed was that everything is slightly bigger (My PixelDensity is the same as before the update). Next thing I noticed is when I went to the Apps section, is that the Categories now Pull out into a Side-Pane instead of their own screen. But the most interesting thing I noticed is that instead of getting the "Staff Picks" screen, I get "Staff Picks for Tablets". To me it seems the App Market now detects your screen size and adjusts some things accordingly.
This can be a Good thing and a Bad thing. Good because tablet designed Apps(including the Market UI tweaks) do look better on the Nook's screen but also Bad because it could alow Google to adjust things depending on Device even more, ie: certain phone apps might only show up on "Phone sized" screens.
What do you guys think of the new Market Update(v3.1.3)?

Here's the Fix.
If you don't see "Movies" category or the "Videos" app in the New Market here's a Fix.
NOTE: DO NOT USE IF USING OLD MARKET!!
If you have issues return it back to 161!
Root Explorer Method
1. Clear Market data in Application Info
2. Navigate to System folder in Root Explorer and "Mount R/W"
3. Long-press build.prop and "Open in Text Editor"
4. Find "qemu.sf.lcd_density=161" or "ro.sf.lcd_density=161" and change it to 160
5. Reboot
6. Run Market
File Expert Method
1. Clear Market data in Application Info
2. Navigate to /System folder in File Expert
3. Menu-->More-->Mount-->Mount as ReadWrite
4. Copy build.prop to sdcard
5. Press build.prop, Open as Text, Select a Text Editor
6. Find "qemu.sf.lcd_density=161" or "ro.sf.lcd_density=161" and change it to 160, now Save
7. Copy build.prop back to /System, Overwrite when asked
8. Reboot
9. Run Market
If it doesn't work try Clearing the Market data again.
This should allow you to see most missing Apps and Access the Movies category.
If you lose Movies in the Future just Clear the Market data and it'll work again.

Does this "fix" also deal with the issue that some of your installed apps don't show up in the Market's Update queue when they have updates available?

...to a different problem. The issue with My Apps is the reason CM7 defaults to 161 in the first place, and only applies to those who have already applied the 160 dpi fix. In a CM7 NC set to 160 dpi, My Apps will eventually display only a white space, requiring us go to the Market's App Info and hit Clear Data again.
AFAIK, we're more likely to see a fix for the limited market than for the My Apps issue.
One thing many people seem to miss: any app's individual App Manager page is accessible by longpressing the app shortcut and choosing App Info.
Japzone, you're doing people a disservice by failing to mention that the fix does not persist once the market app does its data update, which occurs at least once a day.
Edit: damn, once again, ninja'ed by the lizard...

I know about the Icon long-press shortcut but the app screen sits on scanning for awhile, instead I pull-up Titanium Backup as it's usually quicker.
Now concerning the Market My App issues with 160dpi, personally I'd rather deal with the occasional data wipe then the Oversized UI of 240dpi but that's me. Sorry if I seemed misleading.

Hi everyone, I have the AT&T Nexus 6 and I have tried downloading widgets from the Play Store but none of them shows in the widget drawer when I try to add one to my home screen. I have read reviews and forums saying that the apps/widgets need to be moved from the SD card to the device itself. The problem is that the nexus device does not even have an SD card slot so that option is not available. Can someone please help me ,is there an option to enable the widgets function without rooting? Thanks so much in advance.

I was informed by another member here that restarting system UI an accomplish the same thing without reboot. Just FYI.
How do I restart the system UI on Nexus 6? Sorry if I'm asking simple questions...I had a note 2 for almost 3 years so since switching to Nexus is a whole new experience...seems like I have to reboot every time after I install or uninstall an app for it to show/not show in my apps drawer.

Yes, I just searched everything under Developer Options and did not see anything about restarting the UI. There has to be another way other than rebooting which is very inconvenient. I wonder if anyone else is having this issue.

I have settings off but over the last few months I have noticed the wallpaper change of it own accord ..
On 7.0
Also what is giving me the ****s it is like a Win10 situation where it is Huawei pushing a pic from the net to me.. (or only other option would be quickpic app as I use this to set the wallpaper).
I just checked on the change this morning and the pic is not actually sitting in my gallery. And I hadn't seen this picture before.. it's not in the standard Huawei pic set..thus the theory of it being pushed from the net..
I am on stock rom..
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

I wrote above: Magazine Unlock. No root needed, you will find the folder and pics on Internal mem.
Btw, redefine the theme and put your own photo as wallpaper.
Thanks for reply..
And maybe it has something to do with theme.. but there are no "theme settings' in EMU 5.0.1..
Well as per my screen shot there is Huawei's setup..
But I actually use Apex..
So, as this same setup has been on my phone's for the last 4+ years.. (I know..why change a good thing)..
To have wall papers turn up (as said very much like Win10 does on lock screen).. but this is not my lock screen. This is main wall paper..
Thing is.. only ever so often.. only say once a month..
My feeling is they are slipping through either Apex.. or EMU..as showed.. I have settings shut down for changes..
Don't even worry about the lockscreen ones..they are not the owns turning up..

What about Themes built-in application?! - this is exactly for setting the themes, haven't you seen that and did you try to use it?
I hope, you didn't think it was a bloatware and (because you have a root), you just deleted that app before finding first what it is and why you need it.
Besides you can directly set up any picture or photo as your wallpaper.
Àlso, and again, did you look into the MagazineUnlock folder on the Internal mem (no root needed), what pictures do you see there, do they correspond to your random wallpapers?
I know there are no proper help/instructions for EMUI but you can try to get familiar with its setings and built in apps and features.
If you are not using stock ROM then you will get better help if you ask in the corresponding custom ROM thread. Also if you are using special launchers or so, then it might be a how-to question for that launcher or your own themes/wallpapers app, this is not EJUI 5.01 fault
One more tip: if by flashing back and forth various ROMs, you came to the point that you are mising some apps, particularly Themes app (maybe also Calendar, etc), then you need to go back and properly install stock ROM. This was a known case that people, after manually flashing ROMs (immproperlly or incompletely) lost some built in apps and/or got mess. In some casese it was enough to do Factory reset with wiping Internao memory (you can't with root or TWRP).
Yes,
Understand the theme app..have used it and may freeze it as I have a feeling it's over riding the "off' on change as per screen shot before..
So.. again..
NO.. the pictures that appear are not part of that directory..
Yes.. I can..and I do use quickpic to set my own home screen wallpaper..
Stock rom..nothing deleted..( I think you can see via my post account I kinda know what I am doing a tad..as been flashing tons of different devices over the years)..
So maybe theme app is pushing pictures to the phone with out my permission and wants..
Actually happened this afternoon..
Thus a freeze might be good..
Thanks for the input.. got to be happening to someone else..I can't be the only one.
Edit:. Actually just a thought, I just remembered I was forced to download the Microsoft launcher for some reason.. even through it is not what I use..I wonder if this has a hook in.. anyway, just deleted it .. will see if this is the culprit..

Since Gmail is part of the system app you can't change the battery optimization. The way around this is to delete the app via adb and then reinstall via play store. This way you get the battery optimization option in the app.
This setting can be made in app settings of Gmail app itself. Though app info (long press app in app drawer, press (i) in top right corner), Battery, choose Unrestricted.

Been there since one UI 2 and was still present before I upgraded to UI 4
i was wondering where this setting was as well, ever since ive updated to android 12 the majority of my widgets for various apps have stopped updating, Samsung seems to have got a lot more aggressive in killing apps with this version

In Samsung S21 UItra, it’s very easy to find a battery optimization option.
Step 1:
Go to "Settings" and click on "Device Care".
Tap ‘Optimize now’ to optimize your ‘Battery’, "Storage", "Memory" and "Security".
Step 2:
In 'Battery', tap ‘See more’ to go to Settings and click on ‘Sleeping apps’.
Tap ‘Add’ to select apps you want in sleep status, then tap ‘Add’ once again.
Clean up unused apps and features.
Go to ‘Device care’ in ‘Settings’ and click on ‘Battery’. and then ‘Battery usage’.
Click on ‘See more’ and tap ‘Hide OS and system apps’ Check battery usage and details of apps actually in use.
Hi, i recently purchased the regular Samsung Galaxy S23 and i have some weird issues with the touch.
The most annoying one is when i get out of an app say for instance 9gag/instagram and then i attempt to lock the screen by double tapping, sometimes one of the taps isn't registered and as you might expect, nothing happens. This also happens when trying to like a post on instagram, or anything related to the double tap.
Another issue occurs sometimes, when i try to just tap something, sometimes i have to tap like 2 or 4 times for the tap to register, as if i didn't tap correctly.
I tried enabling Touch Sensitivity but it didn't help at all.
I wonder if anyone else occured this problem and fixed it, or if it's just my phone. I recently applied a screen protector, hoping the issue was more about the screen being too slippery, but it didn't seem to help at all.
P.S it's a model manufactured in april, not the one with the banana camera issue.
Put into safe mode and see if a 3rd party app causing the issue. If so... take out the trash.
Try clearing the system cache.
Try a hard reboot.
Did you use SmartSwitch?

Haven't really used SmartSwitch, because i had a lot of bloat on my s10+. Started from scratch. Used SmartSwitch just for pictures and contacts.

Haven't really used SmartSwitch, because i had a lot of bloat on my s10+. Started from scratch. Used SmartSwitch just for pictures and contacts.

Never use it for critical data; it can fail you miserably. Use Samsung Contacts to import/export contacts and create backup files. Copy/paste critical data then verify file size and if readable. Make at least 2 redundant copies on drives that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC.
It's possible using SmartSwitch goofed up the load. I've used it and it's predecessor Kies, both are buggy particularly if going between different models or OS versions. I may need to reload one of my N10+'s because of that Best thing to do is not to use it and put together a complete, organized critical data backup plan then refresh it regularly.

Simulates pulling the battery. Probably not needed.

Okay so i used safe mode for like an hour and then reverted to regular. I can't seem to tell if it's fixed or any different, because this doesn't happen "all the time". I will give it some time and then i'll come with a better response.
Another thought came to me..
What if the double tapping issue comes from when i do the first tap of the double tap, i somehow do a little swipe down and the phone registers it as such? Is there a way to reduce the slipperiness/smoothness of the screen to counteract this? i wouldn't mind if my screen would be less smooth, but i feel like this would really help.

I think it's probably a 3rd party app.
I don't like gesture navigation as they implemented it at all. On my N10+'s I use Galaxy Store Good Lock Navstar and One Handed Operation plus which is the gesture navigation I use. On a large the side gesture navigation works better for me but I use the virtual buttons a lot too.

I am also using goodlock with onehanded operations and other stuff. I'll keep switching between safemode and normal mode to notice any differences

You can use the app I showed to replace the lame Google gestures with virtual keys. One handed Operation plus is much better for gesture navigation and more customizable.
What it looks like... can be adjusted so it's not light up like a Christmas tree.
