I found it on Google it should of been there.
#UPDATE#
I have found a temporary solution.
Install Vanced Manager and install Micro G, it will give you notification on the status bar, click it and you will be able to access that menu.
Running One UI 4

Go to Settings then Battery and Device Care.

What's next?
I don't find any option to disable the app optimization? There are some apps I need to manage since Samsung always kills it and I don't get any notifications

Go to Settings, then Apps, tap 3 dots (upper right) then Special Access, then Notification Access.

Since Gmail is part of the system app you can't change the battery optimization. The way around this is to delete the app via adb and then reinstall via play store. This way you get the battery optimization option in the app.

This setting can be made in app settings of Gmail app itself. Though app info (long press app in app drawer, press (i) in top right corner), Battery, choose Unrestricted.

Thanks guys. Will try and report back. Just wondering if they removed that option from special access menu.
Been there since one UI 2 and was still present before I upgraded to UI 4

i was wondering where this setting was as well, ever since ive updated to android 12 the majority of my widgets for various apps have stopped updating, Samsung seems to have got a lot more aggressive in killing apps with this version

Hi, it didn't work. The app still got killed even though on the unrestricted. I need Spotify & YouTube to be not killed since I use them when I am driving.
Weird I can't find that special menu anymore after the update!

Thanks.

You'll need to open the MicroG & log in to your Google account. Then it should have the notification just like the screenshot I shared. From there you can access that option

In Samsung S21 UItra, it’s very easy to find a battery optimization option.
Step 1:
Go to "Settings" and click on "Device Care".
Tap ‘Optimize now’ to optimize your ‘Battery’, "Storage", "Memory" and "Security".
Step 2:
In 'Battery', tap ‘See more’ to go to Settings and click on ‘Sleeping apps’.
Tap ‘Add’ to select apps you want in sleep status, then tap ‘Add’ once again.
Clean up unused apps and features.
Go to ‘Device care’ in ‘Settings’ and click on ‘Battery’. and then ‘Battery usage’.
Click on ‘See more’ and tap ‘Hide OS and system apps’ Check battery usage and details of apps actually in use.

Unknown notification bar icon

The gear shaped icon in the picture appeared yesterday and I have no clue what it means. There's no information in the drop down and I've not installed or updated anything that I'm aware of. Anyone seen this icon, or know what it means and how to get rid of it? Not rooted. Thanks.

Go into settings apps..
start with apps you do not know. Look at there icon. see if you see one similar. If not then stop one app running at a time check to see if its gone . Continue until you find the program..

Looks like the icon that pops up for watching porn. It's permanent. :silly:
Kidding aside, I don't know what that gear is, but on the SGS3 there was a similar issue brought up and it wound up being a notification bar notification toggle icon.

Its not the Porn Icon because my son used my tablet and I do not have it... ROFLOL... teenager go figure
Thanks for all the suggestions, I've gone through settings/apps/running & closed everything except for google services, android keyboard and settings, yet the icon persists. I'm at a complete loss.

Do you have the Power Controls Widget installed? There was an update to this particular widget yesterday and now it's showing the same on mine (gear)... Not sure why they added it to the notifications ...
Have you updated your tablet yet might be the update icon if not its a persistent app that's running in the background and use a app called startup manager it will help you figure out the app.

That's definitely the power control widget causing that. You were able to hide it easily until the most recent update, and I haven't figured out how to hide it since

you can hide notifications for any app in jellybean - settinsg > applications > find the application > untick 'display notifications' (or whatever it says)
Don't forget about the new JB feature.
If you hold down a notification, it will give you an "App Info" selection.

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. When Power Controls was background updated yesterday, the setting 'Notification Icon' in the app settings was reverted to 'default' (which displays the gear icon). I had previously set this to 'transparent' but now notice that that setting still takes up a slot on the notification bar & looks weird when it's sandwiched between 2 notification icons. I've since set the 'Notification Icon' setting to 'Battery 3' and have removed my Battery Widget? Reborn! widget & notification icon. Thanks to everyone for their help & suggestions. This is by far the best community I'm a member of!

[Q] Marshmallow questions

I did search but did not find what i was looking for. Is there a list of apps that can be deleted for MM? Without Xposed how do I change the battery icon to a text percentage?
I can answer the battery icon question. Pull down from the top of the screen with two fingers, press for several seconds on the settings cog, and you'll see a message saying that you now have the customisation options. At the bottom of the settings you now see System UI Tuner. Inside is "Show embedded battery percentage".

I never was able to get into system UI tuner, so I will have to try that.
I did as you wrote, but did not see the message much less system UI tuner. I am running a custom ROM, so what did I do incorrectly?

Custom ROMs can remove system UI tuner or automatically enabled it and moved it to a different location in the settings menu. I have seen a couple that have it in their custom ROM's settings.

GSam battery monitor will show battery percentage in the notification bar, just not *inside* the battery icon. System App Remover will show you which system apps you can remove safely. Note however that even though it says it will put them in a "recycle bin" it fails to do so sometimes. So make sure you don't want it Or you could make copies of the apks yourself I guess, never tried that .
It will show inside battery

I was looking to replace the icon by text, but will check it out.
Did not look for System app remover in the play store but try it.
New request: how do i get a more extensive reboot menu including recovery? I do not mean using an app like reboot manager.
Battery - maybe Battery Bot will do what you want. As well as having the percentage showing inside the battery icon, I have a text percentage on the left of my status bar. I have Battery Bot Pro (I believe in supporting developers) but I guess the option will be in the free version as well.
And for a different reboot menu which allows full restart to bootloader or recovery you need root. There are several apps on the Play Store which apparently do a "fake" reboot by closing and reopening services without root, but I've never really looked in to them. If you don't have root, then I doubt you'll get what you're after.

You can apply this to your AOSP build:

I am basically making some mods to a stock ROM. I will have to look at that link in detail.
You are gonna end up with issues if you keep doing it this way. Not to mention you will lose one thing because of another. In the end you will have to decide either, Code the changes into your current rom yourself, flash xposed, or flash a custom rom.
Any recommendations for an Apk compiler running under Win 7?

This is quite an interesting project. I'm guessing you have an AppWidget in the app and you're proxying the user chosen widget through it, right?
If that's the way, it should also be possible to add some other provider info XMLs, to let people choose, say, up to 5 widgets.
Anyway, I'm definitely going to follow this progress. You should definitely host on Labs.

Yes, you're totally right. The user can choose a widget in the app and it gets displayed inside the app. Afterwards I take the widget and show it in the Auto Activity. Therefore, it's no problem to extend this to multiple widgets.
I will look into hosting on XDA Labs.

Since this is an AppWidget proxy, and it allows you to use widgets not optimized for Android Auto, there's not really anything the developer can do.

I used mix Explorer from the XDA labs and it worked fine. Only problem is I can't get any of the widgets to actually show up in Android auto. I have developer mode open so I can use night mode all the time and set it up for unknown sources but no bueno.

Any way to add NFC switch to top roll down menu?

I don't know why, but Google just avoid adding NFC switch to top menu to fast turn on and off. I have NFC widget, but it's third party app that's just a shortcut to settings menu, not the actual switch. Any help?
If you have root you will add nfc toggle to quick setting over macrodroid
There is a toggle for NFC in quick settings. Just pull down quick settings twice, then edit on the left and you'll see it. Press and hold it to move it to the top 6 if you like.
Without root you can run an Automate flow to add a NFC tile: https://llamalab.com/automate/community/flows/35435

How to open/execute the downloaded file?
You would need to install the Automate app through the Play Store. You will find a "Community" button in the side menu. There you can search for "NFC tile" for instance.

I've tried 4 ROMs and all are amazing with different features depending on what you're looking for.
I believe stock though also has this setting.
And Playstore has many Apps to mess with.

Hey are you rooted?
I just tried it myself with the app. The first tap took me to the settings while asking for superuser permissions, and after I granted SU, the second tap onwards toggled the actual NFC.
So I think the direct NFC toggling (via this app) requires root.
Shortcutter is a nice little so supported by a wonderful Dev.

1. Other than that, text messages....As explained earlier, it seems the debloat script removed it for some reason. I want to restore it by adding the script changing the 0 to 1, but I don't know what line referes to the message app. Any ideas? There is nothing in the debloat script saying "message" or "sms/mms"
2. Sometimes I accidently swipe right on the lock screen which produces some Chinese slideshow. Any idea how to disable and maybe add something useful to the swipe action?
3. I'm in light mode but still can't get whatsapp messages and the spotify player on the lock screen.
4. Using company portal, the only keyboard I can pick is Chinese Baidu. Company portal splits your phone in Work and Personal. Work is highly restricted and I can't figure out how to install a new keyboard.

5. Using the standard launcher; app icons for the company portal (Outlook/Teams etc) keep moving to the last page on my phone (I have 4 pages of icons). Any idea how to lock them in to place?
Thank you!
Regarding your points :
1. Usually it should be com.android.mms , which isn't on the list you're right, but just try it anyway. If not, try "ADBAppControl" for Windows and search it there. It's also simpler to re/debloat using this program anyways. Or you can try to download (or view) the app in the vivo appstore.
2. Search for the vivo app "interactions" (or long press on the homescreen and tap interactions) which has a icon of a black cube > Now, tap on the lower right corner and select "nothing".
3. Go to Settings > Security > More Security Settings > Device and App Notifications and be sure that Whatsapp and/or Spotify is allowed. You can also check on the homescreen, if you long press on the app, and tap on "App Info" > Notifications > and check "Allow Notifications" > Then check all (needed) "Alert Modes"
EDIT: > 4. Install a new Keyboard from the Playstore (lke Swiftkey or Gboard,..) Go to Settings > Apps & Permissions > Permission Management > Permission Tab > Scroll all the way down to "Default App Settings" > Input Method > Your downloaded keyboard. From there you could also replace other default apps.
> 5. There SHOULD be an extra setting in stock launcher settings.. if I remember correctly from my old X70 Pro+. But can't exactly remember, sorry.
Hope this helps somehow.
Thanks for the advice. Might be easier to just download via Vivo store. Can anyone tell me the name or show me the icon?

It should look like this I guess. Or you just download Google Messages if you like.
Thanks, I will look for it. GMessages is not receiving any texts

In the worst case - but I know that‘s not cool - you can reset your phone and all apps will come back, then debloat carefully using ADBAppControl.
EDIT : Or you could try to install the apk on Apkmirror, but don‘t know if it works :
vivo Messages 6.2.6.0. APK Download by vivoglobal - APKMirror
vivo Messages 6.2.6.0. APK Download by vivoglobal - APKMirror Free and safe Android APK downloads
www.apkmirror.com
the APK worked - thank you so much! That's the main issue sorted
