I have a Note 8 running on VZW and my device won't connect to my XFINITY wifi network at home. I tried changing the password encryption to one of the solutions below and I even changed it to open, and it did not work. I also tried changing the IP settings from DHCP to static and that didn't work either. I connect to other wifi hotspots and wifi but not my home. Also, however, I have other devices connected to the wifi just fine. I cannot seem to find a solution to this issue.

Maybe try setting your wifi to a different channel on your router?

is it your home network or xfinity hotspot network
I am a actual xfinity mobile and home internet user
For the life of me I can connect to my home networks but not my home xfinity hotspot also broadcasted from my router. It shows up,I can click it,But never connects....
I also have issues with other xfin hotspots.
Not all but some
It is my home network that my note 8 won't connect to, but it connects to other networks, I believe something is blocking it.

Now I know they got that xfi crap have you gone on your router and xfi app and allowed
Yup I went through all that and the admin tool and nothing. I turned the firewall temporarily too to see if the problem persists and it does.

I would bet it's something stupid on xfinitys side. Last I can think of is a full reset of the router....back to stock. Is it the xb3

Hi.
I recently bought my s730. Quite pleased with it, but one thing bothers me.
When i connect to my wlan at home (zyxel_2602hw_d1a WPA-PSK TKIP) i'm able to connect to the router, but I don't seem to be able to get an connection to anywhere outside my own network. I tried using Live Messenger, IE, Opera and Skype, but nothing happens.
When I'm using GPRS or EDGE it all works smoothly.
Any suggestions?
Do you have your connection set to automatic or only through your phone network? I have seen a few problems with that.
Also, double check that you are entering wep or any other security protocol correctly, took my 6 tries before it would work, it looked like it was connected to the network but it really wasnt (just personal experience with this phone.)

I do have the connection settings in both IE and Opera set to automatic. I's there somewhere else I have to change settings?
I'm quite sure i typed the password correctly. I also checked the client list on the router and the phone showed up correctly.
Gah, cant remember where I saw it but there was a setting in the phone itself for what to connect to.
Another thing to try under the wifi connection open your saved connection and go into it and see if you have it set to connect to the internet or just to the private network under "network type" in the Wi-Fi sub menu of Wlan settings. Its late and I cant think right, i'll see about checking more into it later...
I solved this problem - change your WLAN security on your WLAN router only on exactly MAC adressee (no any WEP) and your Wings is allowed to connect and all will be OK, work OK - Skype, IE, Opera. Problem was only to find MAC adressee my Wings
Wing + WRT54GL
Hi!
I have an S730 and a Linksys WRT54GL router. I've tried to use wlan with my phone, but it doesn't working. I want to use WPA2 with AES without Radius. Is the WPA shared key (router) same to network key(phone)? without security and encryption, it's working well.. I cannot see any syslog. That could be so easy..

I tried removing security for my phone MAC address, but there dosn't seem to be any options on my router allowing this. So I'm still stuck;-/

Did you check network settings? I mean e.g. if you don't use DHCP server and you didn't fill in right settings phone may connect to network but may not get outside. I know it can look like "lame" question, but sometimes even a master can do a newbie mistake..

usually it is in section WLAN Advanced setup - WEP Encryption - disable and in WLAN MAC Filters - active + allow asotiation with table of adress your Wings - aply . I have Zyxel Prestige 660HW.
I'm sure that DHCP is active, and that I get an IP.
I tried disabling security on my router, but same problem. Connects to my router, gets an IP but still nothing works

Your DNS are also provided automatically? Or could you ping (through some app) to any IP address of any server on the internet? If you succee, then we can look for a mistake with DNS.
Problem solved!!!
Okay. Found the cause for all my sufferings...
Power management. under WLAN-settings i changed power setting from power save mode to best performance...
thanks for all the help. hope next time I have a better question
wifi problem
hello everybody,i have tried several times to connect to my router at home but no chance at the end i got this warning saying:
cannot log on to the wireless network this network requires a personel certificate to positively identify you.
I have an unrooted OG Droid running on stock Froyo (2.2.3). It's off-contract, but I have been using it by connecting to my wifi router (Netgear WNDR3700). Everything has been working fine until Friday when it stopped connecting to my wifi router. I tried reconnecting, but it cannot seem to find the router at all, even if I'm standing right next to it. My router does not appear on the list of available wi-fi networks when I look at Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-fi settings. The strange thing is that it seems to pick up all of the other wi-fi networks from my neighbors without any problems; it just can't seem to find my wifi router.
All of my other Android devices (Nexus S, Evo 3D, Galaxy Tab, Logitech Revue) can find and connect to my router without any problems. It's just as though the router doesn't even exist from the perspective of the OG Droid. I haven't made any recent configuration changes on any of my devices or router. My other wi-fi devices (laptops, printer) don't have any issues finding and connecting to my router either.
I've tried rebooting, pulling the battery, etc. without any luck. Any ideas?
By chance did you unplug the router, my og DROID loses wifi sometimes and even though phone sees it won't connect but usually resetting router gets it to reconnect.

I haven't done that yet, because as far as I can tell, the router is working fine. The issue that I'm seeing differs from yours as the phone doesn't even see the router right now.
It's a bug in Android. Delete all the remembered wifi accounts on the phone and then you should be able to scan again. Once you scan, it should pick up the router again. Had this happen on a couple different android devices.

I gave this a try, but it didn't work. I can still see all of the other available wi-fi networks near me, but not my own router. Any other thoughts?

I've had this with my router whenever i reset it.
its because there are too many routers in your area on the same wifi channels . change the channel your router is on until its one with less or no routers on it and it will appear eventaullly.

I have same problem with you.
My LWW cannot find/detect the home wifi, but another device (laptop and samsung galaxy mini) can work well with the wifi network.
but my LWW can find another wifi network except my home network. but sometimes when I don't use the LWW for long time, and when I started to turn the wifi on, it can work well. but after I stopped the connection and start to use the wifi again, it cannot find the network again
I just had the same problem and fixed it.
Sometimes routers are configured to select and use the less crowded wireless channel. That can cause your wifi to eventually use channel 12 or 14. Like sleepyguy007 said, it is more likely to happen if there are too many wifis in the area and all channels are crowded.
As far as I know, Android devices are by default configured to scan only up to channel 11. So if the wifi is in 12 or 14, it will not be recognized.
Go to the wifi config screen, where all the networks are listed. There, with the menu button, go to "Advanced"->"Regulator domain" and set Android to scan all 14 channels, that should do the trick.
I hope that is the cause of the problem and you can fix it... Otherwise it could be a bug, and the solution may be harder
I'm so happy & surprised!!!
I had same problem and with your helps(phobophille & sleepyguy007) my problem solved:laugh: :fingers-crossed: :good:

my device is not showing any network on my device to connect wifi.
i have tried everything but the problem is same . not a single network is appearing in my device. all others are connected to the same. in my phone in advanced setting it is showing ipv4 address is unavailable. plz suggest something.
I am able to connect to my home WiFi but not able to ping any thing on the network as such I can not get access to the internet.
A few times I have turn off the WiFi connection and then hours later turned it back on and it's worked for a few minutes and then stopped working.
I am on viperone Rom and have been looking at a number of threads but nothing yet has fixed it.
Any ideas ?
All other devices on network can access the internet , I tweaked a few settings in to Rom to try and force WiFi N and then turned on WiFi
Internet lasted for about a minute before it dropped and pages timed out
.
WiFi shows as connected but no internet

Perhaps try a couple of the network apps (like fing) on playstore and see if you can gather more information
Just as quickly as the problem appeared it's now gone . I have not made any real changes so not sure why it's working again.
But thanks for your help
It's there any way I can specify priority of one SSID over another in MM? Is there an app or some other method?
I have Xfinity Internet service, so I am able to access any Xfinity WiFi network when I'm out. My home router therefore has both my home SSID and the Xfinity open one. If I'm out, and therefore sometimes connected to Xfinity, I come home and it automatically connects to Xfinity instead of my network and then I can't access my network.
I know I can just tell it to forget the Xfinity SSID, but if there was some way to tell it to always choose my home network over that one, that would be better.
Thank you!
BTW, currently running TEKXodus Hybrid N5 URv8E if it should matter.
Randomly, but always, my wifi will disconnect. I have reset network settings. Reset all phone settings. Rebooted router. Still happening. My pixel is just fine on same network. ?
Totally stock on ATT. No mods at all

dhcp issue? looks like phone can connect but can't receive an ip. or an ip conflic with a manualy bound ip on a device in the network.
does it do it on all wifi access points? or only a specific one?

replicate else where. then you will know if its device or your network
Mine does this also.
Was starting to question my network as well. We run a Verizon hotspot with unlimited data for our home wifi since there are no other options in our rural area for actual high speed internet.
I am really leaning towards a software issue, hopefully fixed by an update, since no other phones, S7's and an apple, have issues.

Extremely frustrating ? I've tried everything
Does it only happen at home? If it does, what's the security of your router set to? TKIP+AES can cause issues on 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ routers especially if they are older models of 2+ years.
Try powering off your router for 2 minutes and then turn it back off. I had to do that because Comcast Xfinity!!!??
