Wondering if anyone has used Xfinity mobile with an unlocked X4 successfully?
Having an unlocked phone shouldn't be a problem. It's detected but nobody really cares it you are unlocked, unless you're a mobile provider. Try it out.
If you mean rooted, magisk should be good enough to pass safety net.
Is there a specific reason you need it?
My X4 is unlocked and I tried it with my Xfinity Mobile SIM. I was able to make and receive calls, but mobile data would not work. I have heard of this from others who try to use their Xfinity mobile phone with non-approved Xfinity mobile Android phones. It's Hit or Miss depending on the type of phone you have from what I can tell. I was also told by an Xfinity mobile rep that it may work for a while, and then unregister itself from the network.
According to Wikipedia, they use Verizon's network. I don't see why it wouldn't work. This user seems to have Xfinity on their X4 but I can't say how well it worked out for them.

Hi,
Hopefully someone can help here - I'm assuming its an isolated situation since no one at Verizon (US) or M1 (Singapore) can help me with. I have a HTC One (Verizon) that works perfectly in the states. I am overseas for a few months and confirmed with VZ Global Services that the phone is pre-unlocked so any local carrier will work.
I chose M1...everything on the phone works great, calling / SMS / Internet / Data...etc. However I am given this error anytime I try and turn on the Mobile Hotspot or USB Tethering:
"None VZW UICC present
A Verizon Wireless LTE SIM card is not detected. Mobile Hotspot/Mobile broadband Connect service needs a Verizon SIM card in order to work."
note:: Hotspot works perfectly in the states....
I've spent a lot of time on with VZ Global Services and at the M1 store here. VZ was not helpful, as soon as I admitted to using a SIM that was not theirs, they stopped all support. At M1 store we tried a variety of SIM cards; prepaid, postpaid...etc. None of them fixed the problem. Only suggestion left is to call HTC. So thats why I posted this in the general HTC rather than Verizon specific.
If anyone has any idea how to go about troubleshooting this it would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I should add - the phone is stock, not Rooted, APN changed to sunsurf (which is what M1 uses).
I am having the exatct same issue right now. I am in India and I have a prepaid SIM card from Idea and when I try and use the mobile hotspot I get the same error.
When activating the Hotspot function the device does an entitlement check against Verizon's server. Without a Verizon Sim it will automatically fail and not allow hotspot usage. Only way around it is rooting and removing the entitlement check or using a custom non-verizon rom.
i belong to India, i have htc one max,and i have also facing same problem, please tell me any solution if possible

Simple Mobile has to enable tethering on your account for it to work. Had the same issue going from T-Mo to Family Mobile. Now I'm on MetroPCS, same network, and I had them enable tethering, and it works just fine. An option for you is the Tether-X app. I used it quite a bit before.
Not sure that is true since I have been using the same Simple Mobile sim for about 3 years now and I can successfully tether using a HTC HD7 and the HTC Radar not to mention that I am able to tether with my friends GS3.....Update today I received the black software release over the air update OS 8.0.10517.150 after install I was and reboot I am able to wifi tether on the nokia Lumia 521 update your software and this is sovled

My wife got me a unlocked galaxy s5 that was a at&t phone. I have metro pc's as a carrier and I want to be able to use Wi-Fi calling with the phone. Does anyone know a way to change it to t mobile since metro pc's uses the mobiles network. I just sent it to Samsung for repair and told them the truth which is that I got the phone unlocked. Please help. I'm only a savvy user at best.
If the phone has the AT&T marshmallow update, you should be able to use WiFi calling. You will not be able to flash the tmo firmware to the phone, if that is what you are asking. The phone is probably SIM unlocked, the bootloader is not unlocked...which would allow easy flashing.
Hi Guys, I'm wondering if someone more knowledgeable can help advise. I've spent 12 hours and cant activate my Unlocked Qualcomm Note8 on any of my service providers (SMN-950U1.)
I want to use it on Boom Mobile Red (Verizon MVNO)
I cant get the Network Operator to configure, when I select Verizon it fails on configuration. I'm not referring to APN because I do not even get calls, the Operator is listed as "Emergency Calls Only". The Sim works perfect on my Pixel XL and iPhone 7 Plus. This phone was purchased unlocked form Samsung direct with clean IMEI. I called Samsung and they have no idea, they said the phone is defective, which I believe it is not.
I had an issue activating with Sprint and still have not had Data working, though I was able to get calls. I've given up w/ Sprint and will upgrade that line with a iPhone X.
I inserted my friends Verizon Post Paid Sim from his Moto Mod phone and everything was perfect (calls, TM, LTE calling) and the phone got LTE+. Is it possible the Note8 unlocked will only work with the big 4 carriers, ST and TW? I read a similar issue people from Boost Mobile have when they insert their sims it says invalid Sim. I really have no idea what is going on - Boom doesn't have many customers and their support team has never delt with this issue, they said the phone is defective. Has anyone been able to use a Unlocked Note8 on Boom? I've tried flashing various variants of firmware, including Verizon with no success. I'm puzzled with what is going on.
I purchased a used galaxy s10 G973U from someone who bought directly from samsung.com unlocked version. he used it with tmobile. Now im trying to activate with sprint and it wont let me. Network sim setting show that sim is unlocked. Im trying to activate my phone on sprint website and it says "This phone can't be activated
Sorry, but this phone can't be activated with Sprint service. Try to re-enter your IMEI/MEID or try another phone."
I thought this phone is supposed to be able to be used with both gsm and cdma network carriers. what are my options besides trying to return it?

Did you contact Sprint and get a sim kit sent to you? You'll have to do that and then it should work. If it doesn't after that, I'd initiate a chat with them through the support page on their website.
Another option is to go to a Sprint store to activate it. They will have the sim card available for it. Im using an unlocked model switching between carrier and carrier-free firmware no problem.
(PS, once you do get it working there's a way to enable hotspot support without it on your plan.)?
