Anyone finding the phone studdering while playing some games and apps?
Happens on Candy Crush
Scrolling is far from smooth on Nationwide Banking app also.
Cheers
Robert
Yep. Exynos version I have drops frames all over the place. Going to return and buy SD version from Hong Kong.
Ummmm must be that... Gonna contact Samsung
Before you do that try another launcher like Nova. Read somewhere else where a couple of people whi said the frame drops on their phones stopped when they used a different launcher. They were thinking it was something with the Samsung skin..

not sure about the "frame drops", but i have a VZW Note 9, using Nova Prime, and my screen is often non-responsive, either sliding the screen up or down, and typing. Also cannot turn off the haptic, as it periodically makes a noise when pushing the screen. IF anyone has any assistance...
I'm using Nova Launcher prime already. However the issue is with third party apps. Most noticeable is the Nationwide Banking app where scrolling is far from smooth.

In the recent 4.3 update, the Nexus 4's touch screen was revamped, and obtained much increased responsiveness. The same responsiveness you get on a Galaxy or iPhone device. But something still didn't feel right to me, it wasn't AS responsive (on the home screens) to me as a Galaxy Note 2, or an iPhone.
It's because when you swipe, there's this initial, miniscule, 2-3mm delay before it chooses to swipe. Similar to that 1cm pinch-to-zoom delay, which I believe is a feature to prevent accidental scrolling. Try it yourself: Swipe your finger for around 2-3mm, and you will note nothing happening. I think that swipe delay is also a "feature" to let your finger move a little when holding the home screen for the menu to pop up, so I believe it can be fixed, because the touch software otherwise should be on par with other devices. LG/Google should get rid of these delays altogether to be honest, the majority doesn't prefer them anyway.
I feel it's more like the dead zone has been increased, I don't like it what ever it is.
Gone back to the 015 driver from initial 4.2 pre release.
I don't mind nor really notice it.

I really couldn't see the difference from the previous version. The "dead zones" feel exactly the same as they were before. Good thing it's barely noticeable and not too annoying unless you're paying attention to it.
Yea but is there anyway to reach out to them so they can just take out this delay? It'll become Galaxy-like smooth..everybody wants that. No one cares really about their featured 'delay'
I'd rather my phone not pick up a touch that I didn't want it to than have to deliberately touch something twice. Just my 2¢

hope some dev work on it a fix it..
My sister has an iPhone 5 and I had an S2 and personally I haven't noticed any difference between them now that I'm on 4.3.

I hadn't noticed this, and tested your 2-3mm claim on a stock, rooted 4.3 using the stock launcher with a widget on the homescreen... I still don't notice it! While there is a certain 'delay', 2-3mm seems vastly overstated. Having used galaxy s4, HTC one and iPhone 5 I see little discernible difference, and I'd be very surprised if they all do not feature some kind of touch recognition delay.

+1. I haven't updated yet, but if this resolves the issue of accidentally selecting an item rather than swiping, then I am 100% all for it.
I never understood those problems people had with touch on the Nexus 4 apart from the pinch delay. Thats the only difference I notice from my brothers S3

Nexus 4 feels just fine in my opinion. Don't notice any delays.

i'm wondering there are so many top dev working on this device but no one can't (or don't want) solve toch and pinch zoom problem..

I loaded CM 10.2 and don't see any issues so far.
It's difficult to notice any delay when you're used to something that has it. For example, my friend's TV has a lot of TV lag when used for gaming. If I hit A for jump in the game, I will have to wait about 100ms for it to show up on the screen. My TV, however, does not have lag as bad as this. Mines is about 30ms so for FPSs it is much more responsive. He doesn't notice this because his screen is already slow but when I play on his TV I notice a substantial amount of lag. When he plays on my TV he doesn't notice that it is very much faster. This is because it is harder to notice that something is slow when you're used to it.
This is a similar to phone responsiveness. My ipod touch 4th gen (which I had before my Galaxy s2 and NEX4) probably has a very slow processor but the software/hardware is optimized so there is no touch lag. Even with my nexus 4's beast quadcore processor, the touch performance is still better on my two year old ipod. I notice this because I have come from a faster device and I can notice the lag. You guys who haven't gotten used to more responsive devices may not notice the difference, but I and many others do. It's not just us being nitpicky, touch response if a very integral part of a TOUCH screen. I find myself having more difficulty typing on my nexus 4 because the sensitivity is just not high enough. I can type at a much faster pace on my ipod touch because the touch sensitivity is a lot better. In this regard, sensitivity makes a substantial difference in the user experience. I have had many mistaps and retaps on my nexus 4 when my taps did not register properly and I had to hit the same button over and over again. Swipes and other things are also slower than on my itouch.
If you play fruit ninja, for example, when you drag your finger on the screen you can see the cutting line trail behind on the nexus 4. On my itouch, however, the cutting line remains right below my finger and I cannot see the tip. This is the 2-3mm the OP is talking about.
just thought I'd share my opinion.
I sure hope it wont! Because I feel the touch responsiveness and accuracy on any 4/4s/5 iphone device is really through the floor.
Dont really feel any difference on the s3 compared to the new nexus 4 though.
I've noticed this delay too. Is there a kernel that allows you to adjust touch sensitivity for 4.3?
i've no problem with this delay.. my issue is pinch zoom problem.. i have to pinch at least 2 times to zoom enough..
it's software issue.. 'cause Mozzila Firefox doesn't have this problem..
It's not a "problem" or something that can be easily "noticed". The thing is, it's there. I can just feel that the Galaxy Note 2/S3/S4's swiping between home screens is instantaneous with the finger, just as the iPhone's is. The Nexus 4, is right up there, but I can see just that initial delay. It doesn't seem like the touchscreen doesn't recognize your finger, but more of a software "feature" where it won't recognize it on purpose.
Disclaimer: I'm not here to troll. I genuinely love this phone and I just want to see if anyone else is experiencing what I am.
Now that that's out of the way:
I have noticed performance degradation in my Note 3 over the last few days. My GS4 ran like crap pretty much all the time and I finally gave up and sold it. I had no intention of buying the Note 3 because I figured Touchwiz was to blame and it would pretty much run the same. Playing with one in Best Buy, I came to the conclusion that I was wrong and purchased one. It was snappy at first, for the most part. Very few delays or lag.
Lately, I have noticed that things like launching Messaging, the Gallery (which has always been a bad performer on Touchwiz), the camera and the Swiftkey keyboard have been slow, as well as moving between them (i.e. tapping on the last picture in the camera results in a long load time).
When it got really bad today, I checked and noticed that I had very little available RAM (~120 mb). I cleared the RAM and it is running better now. However, comparing it to the performance of my Moto X, which never degrades and never has to have the RAM cleared, I'm perplexed as to why I have to do this on a Snapdragon 800 with 3 GB of RAM.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I still really like the phone and have turned off most of the Touchwiz features I don't use. I'm also using Nova launcher, rather than Touchwiz.
I noticed the same using nova launcher but couldn't see it just being nova. I deleted some recently installed apps and ditched nova for testing purposes and ask was well again just my .02

I too have noticed that things have started to lag a bit, delay in opening certain apps. I turned off all air gesture and also turned off some apps. I got my Note 1week ago today and I was amazed by this phone. Coming from the OG Note it was a big step up. I am taking mine back in to exchange it on Monday due to the phone freezing numerous times and rapid battery drain

I bought the Edge two months ago. Gave it a spin, got back from a canoe trip on the Buffalo River and exchanged it for the Active on the day the Active dropped.
So now I've had a month with each device.
Gotta say, as sexy as the Edge is... it's just too delicate. I felt like I might crack the screen if I stared at it hard enough.
The "Edge" features were cool but not so killer that I had to have them, kinda kitchy at best.
The Edge is gorgeous so putting it into a case was a crime.
Performance, camera, all that... awesome.
Memory leak issue caused the phone to be laggy but everyone's had that issue.
Rooting and Greenifying it took care of that.
Additionally, holding the Edge sans case in my hand, the edges are perceived as "sharp", just couldn't get used to the thin-ness (I know, weird).
The Active is light but solid in the hand.
The case (dark blue camo) has grown on me.
Having had the previous versions of the Galaxy, the buttons are fine and I do appreciate the "Active" button for short and long press access to key apps. Although, sometimes it triggers while in my pocket and starts my music app.
Performance is rock solid, quick and and since the OF3 update last week, not having the memory issues like before. I don't think this is completely resolved but it does seem much more responsive and not lagging after a few days of use.
It's water-resistant and that comes in real handy - I've now used it when I'm running (covered in sweat), trout fishing (slimy hands) or canoeing (splashed with water while taking photos!) without any concerns or issues.
Camera is so awesome, fast and responsive unlike any of the Galaxy S predecessors.
And the selfie cam's higher resolution is appreciated.
I do have the issue with the case "clicking" on the edges.
Now, if we can just get root, this will be as perfect a phone as you can get.
My two cents. Anyone else tried them both?
Package disabler is a pretty good compromise for not having root. Allows you to disable pretty much anything, no root required.AoN
I have tried both. And I agree the s6 edge is so sexy (especially in platinum) I do miss the fingerprint reader and the bottom facing speaker. BUT IMO the active is so much better. I got the all black version (the other colors were a bit too much for me even after owning the platinum s6 edge lol) the active feels so sturdy in the hand and isn't too bad looking. I love love love the water resistance, I've already taken a shower with it lol. I've still got the edge but found out it was financed so I'm working on getting my money back now.
Package Disabler from OSPolice - waaaay cool my friend, thank you for suggesting.
The few items I manually deleted plus the latest update and this big battery is giving me fantastic battery life.
I just ran Package Disabler and selected "all bloatware" and disabled 87 apps. Then I re-enableed the four or five apps I actually use.
Looking forward to even better results.
Thanks!

I have the blue came. The dark color is sharp and you cannot really see the camo until you hold it up close.
Listening to podcasts in a steamy shower toasted my first galaxy III. This Active handles it with no problem.
And I've dropped this thing a half do, enjoy times where I'm sure an earlier version or an uncased Edge would have show damage.
I'm officially an Active fan!

Just do not disable the Samsung account manager.
I see a Samsung Account. Is that the one? What does it do? I'm not using the Samsung account, I don't think. I do have s-health on so maybe I need that. Appreciate your input!

Yes that's the one, it allows access to all the Samsung content (theme store, Samsung app store). If you disable it, the only way to reactivate it is to factory reset the phone.
Package disabler is the shiz for unrooted devices!!

Google play store. It's a dollar fifty five for the paid version. AoN
Am I crazy or did it get pulled from the play store? I can't seem to find it, even using the above link.
Not sure, searching doesn't bring it up, but it's still listed (and installable) under my apps. AoN
The free version seems to be gone. But the link above still works. (At least for me.)

Huh. Maybe it did get pulled then.
I emailed the developers OSPolice and got a reply saying that the app will be available for purchase next week in the Play store. :good:

As far as I can see disabling Sync (This has the same icon than the AT&T Address Book) has stopped the annoying AT&T Address Book windows while opening the Contacts App.
Normally use Gboard but two days ago install Swiftkey on my Note 8
Wow .... I mean terrible terrible gesture our floor typing. I sometimes couldn't even get really simple words to be correct even if I was really slow and careful
It was essentially unusable
Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a Swiftkey problem or one specific to Note 8
whats worse, is they reduced the sizes in menu as small as samsung keyboard, the older versions one could make it as large as the screen.
yeah i dunno what happened to them, they used to be great, now just horrible
Swiftkey used to be an AMAZING app years ago. It was one of those REQUIRED apps to download like Nova. But after they were acquired by Microsoft it became fully sh*t.
Guess I'm the opposite. I think Gboard is terrible compared to SwiftKey.

Update: I have officially retired both Swiftkey and Gboard for Samsung's updated keyboard. This blows them both out the water.
The problem with Samsung keyboard is when u change the dpi, keyboard won't occupy the whole screen, kind of like one hand mode
Is that on Oreo? You can now resize the Samsung Keyboard.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
J used to use guard and swiftkey all the time. Like someone else said it was one of the first apps that I downloaded but honestly I'm really liking Samsung's keyboard after the update.
On a slightly different topic, after Oreo I decided to retry the Samsung keyboard, still crap.

I absolutely love my Pixel 4 XL. However, I am experiencing stuttering while scrolling, for instance the Google News app, or even just the native wallpapers selection. I have 90Hz forced, but the same happens if I switch that off. Scrolling up and down my app drawer on the Pixel launcher, by contrast, is really smooth. Has anyone experienced this? If so, have you found a fix?
No issues here.

Hopefully the November patch will sort this out ("Improvements for Smooth Display on Pixel 4"), although they don't mention the 4XL...
Having the same issue with a lot of apps such as Reddit and other apps/sites with long feeds. It's not terrible but still noticeable.
I just got my phone 2 days ago. Hoping it's not an overall hardware/screen issue. I was trying to set up one of my apps and got an error. The screen started flickering bad with the error message.
Same as you loving the phone so far but thinking if I should get a replacement.
Believe it or not, I've been plagued with this problem as well. It only happens in the pixel live wallpaper app for me. I have rma'd twice but still have the scrolling lag. I have done a factory reset as well. It doesn't happen when you first set up the phone. I don't know if there's anything else I can do. Either I'd have to live it and hoping an update would fix it or return the phone for a refund and get a different phone. This is so bizarre.
Hey guys,
Did anyone figure it out? Was an RMA successful for anyone? Or are all Pixel 4's plagued with this issue?
Not all are affected. Mine is fine. If yours is not then yes try RMA.
It's weird I just noticed this issue with my love wall paper when I unlock it
