OK, calling T-Mobile and they claim they'll bill me for the Note7. Well, that makes no sense as I paid when I bought it. But just to get more info, I called the Samsung return line. They'll mail you a fireproof box and let you mail it back.
First, you go through someone who tries to convince you it's easier to take it back to T-Mobile. That may be true. Then you get the return group. They handle the phone, screen protectors and cases. Another group handles other return items.
With no receipts, you get $874 (IIRC) for the phone, $25 for a case and $10 for a screen protector. With receipts you get what you paid.
Two of three told me no returns on the wireless charger. One said yes on the charger purchased 3rd party.
One said $100 for the Gear VR. One said no return on Gear VR purchased 3rd party, and was cagey on any refund for a promo Gear VR. All said you'd get a check.
Procedure was to send an email listing all items you wanted refunds on with any receipt copies. (I think you can then check if everything is approved for refund before sending it back.) They'd send fireproof box in 5-7 days. You return box with refund items. Check arrives about 2 weeks later. All said additional $25 loyalty payment or $100 if you exchanged for another Galaxy.
I've got two phones, two VRs (one purchased and one promo) and a wireless charger that are useless. If I can return the charger and VRs, I'll go that route instead of direct to T-Mobile.
Has anyone else gone direct to Samsung?
T-Mobile removed my Note 7 from my account and Samsung sent me a fireproof box on 10/17 and they received it 10/24 with my case and screen protector. I already returned most my accessories to Amazon for full refunds. 2 weeks will be this Monday. I haven't received my check yet
I still have my Note 7. I've haven't had any heating issues, and even charged it overnight. Am keeping it until am forced to return it. Power House!

Talking to samsung now.
I call tmobile store every day looking for a black s7 edge (my old phone). No one has any.
Finally called the 1800 number and got someone who knows something. The lady said the black s7 edge has been pull from there site and they cabt even order them. So there isnt anything they can do if i want the black model.
So calling samsung now. Hopefully all will work out and they give me the phone i want.
If not then idk. Probably leave samsung all together, even tho ive been with them since the s2
---------- Post added at 10:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:31 AM ----------
Just got off the phone with them.
They set it up for someone from there company. To meet me. (sounds weird)
But got transfer from over sea to the US. The US lady said that they will contact my via phone. Setup a meet in the area. They will inspect the phone to verify all information.
Then i will be giving the BLACK tmobile s7 edge.
They will then pay for any acc i bring.
After that i will have to contact tmobile and let them know i did the exchange via samsung. (guess so tmobile can still charge me, i dont know ill have to see on that part).
They did say they will refund the difference and a small amount for all the trouble. Which i am guessing is the $100 that you get in store.
Has anyone gotten a refund for anything other than screen protector or case? I'm wondering about the Gear VR and the Samsung wireless charger we bought.

both of those items are not specific to the NOte 7 so you probably wont be getting a refund especially from what I have been reading. Plus its not like you cant use it with the other Samsung products out there.

We bought them because Samsung sold us a device that would work with them. Now we don't have anything that will work with them. It's financial harm to us caused by their recall. We shouldn't have to keep devices we paid for that are useless to us or take a loss by trying to resell as used. We were told by the Samsung rep that we'd be reimbursed, but it's not clear if he was correct.

I completely understand what you're trying to do but understand either one of those items are not specific to the Note 7 it's not like they won't work with other Samsung products. That may be what they tell you, I have come across other people with the same situation that have been told because they can be used with other Samsung products that there was no refund available for them. Don't hurt to try though good luck

I like to know, did they pay you back the tax they charged on the phone and accessories?
I sent my phone back to samsung direct in their "fire proof box". The customer service rep told me to put all accessories I bought for the Note7 in the box. If I had no receipt I would get market value for them. It was just the items I bought from ebay. I called yesterday to check the status since it has been 15 days now since they received it and she confirmed they have my phone and check will be mailed by end of the week. My phone was bought through Tmobile installment plan and was removed from my account without me turning the phone in so I am attempting to double dip for their inconvience. I have a V20 and hate it.

I'd appreciate it if you'd confirm that you get reimbursed for anything other than a screen protector and case.
Those two items I was told will be reimbursed at market value of $25 for case and $10 for protector.
I've got the V20 also. It's not as nice as the N7, but at least it's rooted and I can run Google Assistant. I'd really like to use the Gear VR, but that seems impossible.

Still no check here
We just got the fireproof boxes. We sent an email listing the items we proposed to return (exactly according to the reps instructions by phone), but haven't heard anything yet. We're planning to wait until they confirm what we can return and the refund amount.
I just received 2 emails from Samsung that my ticket was approved and I will receive my check for $924.49 in 2 to 3 days by UPS. No tracking number though.
thats good.
i am still waiting on my s7 edge to come.
They gave me a tracking number a few days ago but still havent updated pass billing.
There suppose to be sending me a s7 edge and taking back my note 7. I dont know how they are going to do the price different or tmobile EIP.
I guess i will see.
The only thing that i can see that isnt right, right now is the ups billing is for 1.0lb Which isnt the right weight if they are suppose to send a return box and new phone.
Well i guess we will see what happens. This has been a long long process.
Well today I received my check 8 days after the 169 samsung email
I still have my note 7. if I return it, will they refund the money I paid so far to T-Mobile? I preordered it.

I was wondering that too about my preorder money. I wonder how people got their note7 off eip without turining them in. I wonder if it's because they switched to using another phone.
I'd also love to see a discussion started on the best deals, and ways to stack offers.
anyway, here's the deal Samsung is offering, if you owned a Note 7, and signed into a Samsung account on it, using your old email address you'll get a special "fan appreciation" offer.
(They will want you to trade in a phone still)
https://promos.samsungpromotions.com/note7loyalty/Mobile
another thing for Note 7 users, if you still have your Note 7, (as I do) you can still return your Note 7 for full price, plus a discount insensitive towards your next Samsung phone.
https://pages.samsung.com/us/note7/recall/index.jsp
(if anyone knows how this works with phones bought from 3rd party vendors like Clove or eBay, please share your experience)

Duplicate thread.
Already a thread about this made days ago in the News and discussion forum....
what's the link to that other thread?
I clicked on that loyalty link, they didn't required my proof of purchase on note7. maybe they already have my info when I returned note7 on the recall. I bought my note7 on swappa. com kinda like eBay.
I just ordered att note8 for 573$ total with taxes and shipping included. I trade in my old freedompop iphone5 for 200 off. former note7 user get another 225 off.
If you used the same email on that link that you used when you bought and or returned your Note 7, they will already have your info. That being said, they are giving $425 and I did not see a place to return the Note 7 for the $425 although in another thread someone said if you call Samsung you can get them to allow you to return the Note 7 if you still have it.
Australia are thinking about honoring the discount. I called them the other day to ask and they rang back to confirm my details and said there would be an announcement soon. Hopefully they will finally give back to the Aussies who were burned (literally) by the Note7 debacle. But im not holding my breath if anything it will be a token effort.
Samsung is a friggin joke - the exchange and recall was a catastrophe in Germany (I had to wait until end of December to get my money back) and they offer 0 benefits for Note 7 owners. Nothing, nada.
I find this behaviour seriously terrible, not only did the consumers in the US get a goodie for their trouble with the Note 7 (we got NONE - yet I had to drive to the post office several times and had to take time off from work to get the damn thing picked up, twice).
I am not sure if I will buy a Note 8 again from this crappy company, not after many of us here got shafted without a any kind of appreciation or sorry from their side.

Same in the UK. Not many made it to Europe so I would have thought it would be a great way for cheap good will. But alas nothing.
Yeh, thats what I would have done, but Samsung values US customers a lot higher than European customers.
Well as I thought Samsung in Australia have only offered a token refund of $250 but only to people who purchased directly through Samsung. Aparently I dont qualify because I bought it from a carrier (Telstra) AND TELSTRA are completely ignoring their customers and are offering NOTHING to replace the handset when previously they were giving an inferior S7 for them. Im not happy at all with Telstra they are being SCUM about it.
Anyone have a link to the preorder gifts to register your phone?
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
Download the Shop Samsung app in the Samsung store and hit the Promotions link on the left side menu. From the Note 8 of course.
Ugh. I'm not activating it till tomorrow. I tried using my note 3 but it wouldn't work.

Kind of unrelated but when I went to that Samsung app it showed an option to purchase a s8 plus for 11.99 total price. I tried to do it but then it popped up to 899. Luckily I took a screen shot, wonder if I can press this and get a second phone for $12 ?

I registered for the camera gift yesterday evening. It shipped this evening and I should have it on Monday per FedEx tracking, woot!
You need to do it from your Note 8 even though the web site says you can do it via the web. It would just link me to the Samsung app. Once I opened that it recognized my Note 8 and asked me the basic questions and then I made my choice. I took a picture of the receipt and within an hour I got the "Congratulations" email. They are supposed to ship around 9/25 based on what the Samsung app said.

If you order direct from Samsung everything comes together. If you order from a carrier, you have to send in documentation before they ship the gifts to you.

Note sure what to say. I could understand that if Samsung was shipping early and the free items came with it but I don't believe Samsung is shipping yet. The only carrier I know for sure has shipped is VZW and since this is a an offer direct from Samsung, not sure how anyone in the US would have received their gifts yet.

I'm with Sprint and got mine Tuesday around noon. Went to Best buy for a case and they had to go in the back to bring them out, so I got a case and screen protector. The girl who sold me them looked all "butt-hurt" because her Note8 wasn't coming till Wednesday or Thursday. Ordered my 360 camera and it was processed and shipped on Thursday, should be here Saturday or Monday. And I got $200 off the phone too! Battery life is AMAZING and the Gearvr that shipped with the S8+ works great too...phone stays cool and zero lag

Do you have any photos to prove it? Usually a credit card company can fight if you have a good proof.
I'm going through this right now. And, I had a defective Note 8 that I returned. Here it is almost 2 months later and I still haven't been credited for the Note 8 I returned and I'm out a perfectly good Note 5 that I traded in expecting to receive $350-$425 in trade-in. Completely annoyed and will never ... NEVER purchase anything from the Samsung site again. I've been in a tit-for-tat email war with "Ecommerce (Samsung Office of The President)" and am still fighting them today!! This green bar showed up on day 3 of my Note 8. The same day that I sent off my Note 5.

My stupid self thought since all we place in the box is the phone and label outside they might not have the right phone matched to the account so I only took a picture of the esn. Also I heard if I dispute the charge they will blacklist my note 8. So annoying !

Great phone, suck ass service... They should not sell direct. They should alone focus on making products.
Coincidental that as soon as I received notification that my 'post had been quoted' I also received an email from Samsung

Good Morning xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thank you for contacting Samsung. I would like to inform you, your case is currently under review at this time. The screenshot provided and the trade-in transaction will need to be further reviewed by corporate, once an update becomes available you will be notified via email. I apologize for the delay and inconvenience this matter has caused during this process. Thank you so much for your patience with Samsung, have a wonderful day.

Office of the President- Samsung Direct
Frustrating to say the least. I have 12 emails all requesting that I be patient and that my case is under review. [email protected]$& that noise!! I'm at the point where whatever they provide will not be enough. Meanwhile, I'm now paying interest on a purchase that was returned somewhere at the end of Oct beginning of Nov.
Also, early in these email chains, I was asked to provide evidence that my Note 5 did not have a cracked screen. I took picture prior to sending.
When I supplied the picture to them, I asked for them to provide me a picture of the cracked screen. I got nothing for that request.

I did a dispute. I am sure it's going to be a battle. I am just going to keep pushing them. The more they piss me off the more I am thinking of changing over to a pixel or HTC next time around.
I just picked up my Note 9 today, as I pre-ordered from Best Buy. After installing Fortnite I get to the screen where you indicate if you already have an account. I do on Xbox, so after logging in... I get the screen to sign up for the waiting list.
I thought Note 9 pre-orders were exempt from the waiting list? Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If what the OP says is true, then it does seems a bit misleading about being able to play Fornite after acquiring the Note 9. I have not yet attempted to play Fornite, but prior to this thread I also thought one is able to play it right out of the box!

They didn't say if you pre order you get to play first they said that the note 9 was the first phone to get it. It's only available on the Note 9 for the first 30 days. No where was it ever mentioned that by pre ordering or buying a note night you would have immediate access
Works on my note 9. I got it on Tuesday from samsung and downloaded it from samsung apps which directed me to epic. I already had an account for ps4 so i used the same one. I didnt get a waiting list message i also didnt pick the fornite free gift. I opted for the headphones.
I've been playing since it came out on my Note8 and when I got my Note9 just logged in via Google and I'm able to play. My issue is I can't adjust video settings but it is what it is.
I made a video about how to get the Galaxy skin and the 15k V-Bucks:
Anyone with a recent Samsung device should be able to download Fortnite from the Galaxy apps store. And I think anyone with a Note can get the Galaxy skin, but only the pre-orders should get the 15k V-Bucks.
When I initially installed Fortnite there were no video settings to adjust, but there was an update on the 24th that fixed that.

If you watched the "Unpacked event" Tim Sweeney basically said beta were available for certain galaxy devices including the note 9 at the time of the event, with no time of expiration mentioned. Afterwards, exclusivity to a particular skin for note 9 buyers was mentioned. However, If a buyer is to pair those pieces of information with Samsung consistently mentioning Fornite and Note 9 in the same breath. Yes many people will leave with it in mind that fornite is or will be playable on the note 9 after acquired purchase! .........by the way, I setup my fornite account thru my N9 and was able to play right away.
It works fine for me. What I did, though, on the 10th was download it and sign up with my Note 8. I was able to download and install the app and play it on the Note 8. Works fine on the 9 now. Not sure why you get a waiting list.

Well yes I see, my reply assumed the OP meant "playable" rather than "exempt" from waiting list, which I may stand corrected there.
