Recently I notice my phone can no longer check for updates. Nothing happens when I press "Download updates manually"
I have been using Cricket since day one and I recently inserted a Verizon sim card into the phone to find the owner of a lost phone I found. The phone restarted after the SIM swaps, but I did not notice the check update stopped working until recently. Was there anything in the SIM swap that might have messed up the internal check update path? is there anyway to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
It is a very, very bad idea to insert uknown sims in your device, for many reasons, you just encountered one of them…

The note 8 auto updates itself for that sim card you are using. Well it did on my unlocked t mobile note 8. I switched a Sprint sim card and the phone configured itself to a Sprint branded phone.

It seems it somehow broke the checking piece... When I used smart switch to update it to the latest security patch, it was pulling AIO (Cricket), so that mean the phone's under Cricket and not Verizon...
I don't want to do a wipe to see if it'll fix it, but might worth a shot.

So I lost all info on my SIM card. No MEID, carrier info, phone number...everything. I kept getting a "no Sim card" "cannot connect to LTE". So I started messing around in my phone pushed buttons I shouldn't have and now I'm forced to do the one thing I don't ever do...ask you guys for help. I have been able to answer every question I've had by searching posts. Not this time. Can I pull the info for my sim card from a previous backup of my phone? If so, where would I find it and how and where would I place it in my phone to restore what I am missing?

Is it a sprint HTC one? If so, and your phone is running besides the SIM no detecting, I'd call into sprint and see if reprovisioning on their end would help...the SIM is strictly for the lye connection, it may have failed which if it did I believe you'd have to get a new one from sprint and have it linked to your account/phone in their system...I had similar situation except my issue was that a different SIM was linked to my account/phone which caused me to not have lte data til sprint changed to the CCID (a tech support rep will know what to do, it's a pain but it can be done) that was currently in my phone. Hope that helps. Let me know if that got ya somewhere.

Yes it is a sprint HTC One. I am going in tomorrow for a new SIM. I wonder if being rooted will be an issue? Guess we'll find out. I'll let you know if that fixed the issue.

New SIM card is in. My phone still will not connect. I am going to remove root flash back to stock and see what happens then...any suggestions? I was getting a process error (not responding) when I was trying to activate the phone.

im using my SGN4 in a brazilian carrier, and everything was working perfectly till from nowhere the phone lost connection from network.
I was unable to make phone calls , but strangely my 4g connection was on i could browse on the web normally. How this is possible? I popped out the sim card and tried in another phone, it worked normally. I also tried another carrier on SGN4, i was ok too. Anyone have an idea what is going on?
factory reset, problem persists, i have data connection, but cant make phone calls.
Is the phone unlocked. Yes I have to ask.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Yes it is as I told I was using it with my Brazilian SIM card
Is their anyway to check if it still unlocked. I know some people said when they unlocked it was a temp unlock. Did you check APN to make sure they set right for that carrier
BAD ASS NOTE 4
hey guys, im back to this post because the problem persists.
Here is the scenario:
I bought the phone from a Swappa Seller. Phone is t-mobile branded and was in the box, Brand new.
http://swappa.com/listing/ZPB505/view
Brand New Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910T White ( UNLOCKED) 32GB
Phone is brand new in its original box. The phone has never been used. All Accessories are still sealed in plastic - The phone model is SM-N910T. This is a great deal on a BRAND new - NEVER USED phone!
This phone is guaranteed to work with AT&T. There is no regional lock whatsoever

Can anybody tell me why a T-mobile unlocked phone won't work with T-mobile?
I used the phone on my carrier and it was flawless. Everything was fine till suddenly i lost phone signal. It always show "NO SERVICE" message now, but strangely I still have 4G Connection. I can use the phone to navigate, not to make phone calls.
So I swapped carriers, and the phone was working ok, phone calls, data connection.... then the thing happened again: no service, but i have 4g LTE connection.
Inserted a third sim card, from another carrier. Phone is fine, workin as it should! But this is not my main sim card and i would like it very much to work with ANY carrier. Do you guys have any idea what the problem is? Factory reset did not work at all. For the others sim cards, it recognize the network for a second and then "no service". How can i have data connection if there is "no service"?
Im really desperate because i payed a lot for this note 4... Maybe if i root the phone and flash another ROM?
help please!
Is that possible that previous owner reported is lost and now imei is blocked? Your carrier may participate in that program.

thank you im going to check with my carrier.
* BUMP *
Sorry to revive this old thread, but has anybody figured this out?
I too have data with No Service (no voice) when roaming to the USA from Mexico (Telcel). My Note 4 was purchased on T-Mobile USA (contract free) but got it unlocked by gsmunlockers.
Everything was perfect until I got my Note 4 upgraded to 5.1.1 rooted. I have tried several other ROMS and Basebands with no avail.
Any ideas?
Cheers!
I recently set up a VZW developer edition for my gf and she had been using it without any problems for about 6 days. Today she tells me she got some kind of pop-up message/warning that she can't remember the details of. The phone then rebooted and all service was gone. The phone is basically acting as if there's no SIM inserted now. I tried rebooting multiple times with and without the SIM inserted and still the same thing.
EDIT: OK, so I think the message she saw was just for a SU binary update.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
It could just be a bad SIM card.

Yeah, it's either the SIM or the phone; easier to start with the SIM. I re-activated her old phone and ordered a new SIM priority overnight.
OK so let me start from the beginning.
I Networked unlocked my At&t note 9.
put in a T Mobile sim put the unlock code in and everything went fine.
Today I had a friend that's been having a issue with her sprint s10 dropping calls.
so i put her chip in my note 9 make a test call and got a message about sprint activation. I ignored it shut the phone
off and when i rebooted with my at&t chip im still getting this omadm message from sprint and it tries to activate.
Tried several times downloaded Firmware for my note 9. used odin .
also booted to recovery deleted cache and the other setting to factory reset.
reboot and still get this message.
tried the following
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...move-sprint-omadm-notification-t3636264/page2
still nothing has removed this .rebooted several more times still same thing.
I check in about phone>status under brand says sprint (WTF) and username has some numbers with @hcm.sprintpcs.com
now i also have a update trying to download which also appears to be from sprint .
At this point i need any help i can get please .
I would do a factory reset with your sim inserted

That didn't do anything either but thanks.
Weird. Have you tried letting it "activate" on sprint? I would try that. Then shut down phone, and restart with your sim.

I called samsung there sending me a replacement .
If anyone else has input on a solution, I would like to hear just to have the info. At least you're getting taken care of.

Sounds like your device may not have been unlocked properly...
Download phone.info app and screen shot the csc etc here.
Also put boot up with a t mobile sim and see what happens.

Yeah, Sprint's carrier apps need burned out with fire. In the G-pad their Chameleon was installed as something like com.lge.hiddenmenu, and it's job was using accessibility permissions to knock any menu they didn't want you touching into the background.. Sprint = Hitler.
I have had a Galaxy Note 9 (SMN960U) that is AT&T unlocked for the past couple years. I only used a T-Mobile SIM since I am in a Family Plan and have not been able to update the phone at all since 2018. I've contacted both Samsung support as well as AT&T support and they told me that they would need to lock the phone back to AT&T for the updates to be installed. Is there anyone who has had this issue before and can help me update the phone to Android Pie? I've read some possible solutions is to insert an AT&T SIM into the phone or flash an unlocked firmware version but I'm not familiar with either. Please reply as soon as possible for anyone that can offer assistance.
Instead of writing a long how to, go to YouTube and search flashing firmware with Odin

Do you know by any chance if inserting an AT&T SIM will allow me to update the phone then reinsert my T-Mobile SIM?
I can't speak for AT&T, but I can say that the inverse works. I had an unlocked Note9 that I moved from T-Mobile to AT&T, and could no longer receive updates. I inserted an active T-Mobile SIM, rebooted, and was immediately able to update. It had to be an active T-Mobile SIM, or the switch wouldn't work. I just did it right now, so could work for you. It's a lot easier than trying to flash firmware.

Do you have any idea if ordering a prepaid AT&T SIM and activating it would also help receive the updates on the phone?

I would assume it would work if that SIM has service, both of the SIMs I used were prepaid. You'll know if it recognized the SIM, as after the reboot it'll show the AT&T splash on startup. If it doesn't, then the current state of the AT&T SIM won't work. That happened to me, I first tried a T-Mobile SIM whose service had lapsed.
If you do update, just make sure to keep going through the update process repeatedly. You have to install an update, let it reboot, and check for updates each time. You can't just jump directly to the latest version, which I think is part of the problem.
