The past few devices from Samsung with SnapDragon have had locked Bootloaders, been this way for the last couple years. I haven't rooted a Samsung device since the Note 4, I believe.
How does $300 sound? ?

Well the crappy usa and Canadian S9 doesnt have root yet almost 6 mos from dropping so highly unlikely the note will get it.
Didnt you do any research before buying bro? Its no secret that the north amercian devices have root issues since the s7.
Well wtf no I didn't know that
how can people still not know the difference between snapdragon and exynos. it's mind boggling
ill give you 50 bucks for it, since you hate it so much already..
That doesn't make since the how can't snapdragon be rooted to smart for ppl? To root or ??

If you want root you have to buy the version with the Exynos chip. We have the Snapdragon variant in north America and it can't be rooted period.

The bootloader is locked, and no one can grt around that now.
They could on the s7 and s8 but even then the root was hacked and had issues.
After that locked down tight and it able to be cracked

@force70 and even when they figure out a hackish way to root a snappy, firmware updates would probably circumvent it.
on the note 8, samfail worked till U3 bootloader and they just decided to abandon the project(after 3 iterations) . so this means someone that wants root and keep device up to date will only be able to do so at the mercy of the people that create the wokarounds. if i remember correctly, samfail from start to finish lasted what, like 6 months? lol
What really sucks is I thought that buying direct from Samsung would get me the Exynos model, but I was sadly mistaken. Apparently the only way to get the exynos model is taking a risk with third party sellers which I couldn't do for something so expensive.

Hey guys I just bought a brand new ATT note and I was wondering if the roms for the international version will work on the USA model. Im doubting they would work seemless but I thought I would ask. There is alot more to choose from over here lol.

its alright with me the international version has a few months head start and with all the commercials over here i bet it will pick up
You can't use any of the GN-7000 stuff on your ATT Note, because they are two different phones for all intents and purposes. They have different processors and therefore different hardware bases.
Anything found here and flashed on ATTN would most probably brick your phone.
Sorry mate.

No need for that, I feel. You have some outstanding devs working their butts off in the ATT Note forum. They'll catch up with us in no time, you'll see.

if you really think thats true then ill stick with it.
It's an absolute certainty the N7000 will have better dev support, but maybe there will be some usable ROM for AT&T with only a couple of months delay if you're lucky

Good evening folks,
I'm thinking about purchasing a Galaxy Note 5 but I want to make sure that I'll be able to root the phone without creating issues. I currently owned a rooted Galaxy Note 4 that I absolutely love because I was able to get rid of all the bloatware. I will like to be able to do the same for Note 5. Can someone please help me with this? I am looking forward for your response. Thanks in advance.

Who is your carrier? The note 5 is "rootable" but it will stop samsung pay from working for forever, and depending on the carrier could disable your phone.
I will be using T-mobile. I dont really care about samsung pay. I dont think I'll ever use it. How do I root the phone?
There are a lot of methods of rooting the phone but I would like to know which one is the easiest way to do it. Thats pretty much the only thing thats holding me back from buying the phone.

If your interested in t-mobile rooting go to t-mobile section. It's extremely easy. I've rooted in minutes. There are only 2 kernels available but work extremely well.

Nope.. Not yet.
So this would be bought at a local BestBuy in the US. SM-710 model. I've never owned a Samsung device. Where do I start? Can I root the firmware that's in the box? Should I upgrade to MM now or wait?
Thanks all, tried searching and there seem to be a lot of S2 model numbers out there....
Yes...

I didn't even know there was a 713. Is that easily obtainable in the US? I see it has a better CPU but a slightly worse GPU? I will game on this , so maybe I'd still want the 710?
Also, it is only $299 for the 710 8" right now.

Better be lucky you didn't have a Tab Pro 8.4 like me, which was released on KitKat, and to this day is still on KitKat
I did not see anything here, but it might be a bit early. I am curious if anyone has tried it yet? :cyclops:
I'm wondering what's the deal also. You would think we would have had root 24 hours after that video.

Still can't disable SELinux which prevents writing to system. We're a long ways off from a useful root.
So I'm holding on to a Att 64gb s6 for nothing... ?

Even if we ever do get root, it's not likely we'll ever see much development, as all the devs have likely moved on to new hardware long ago.
If you want a root able phone, buy something unlocked that's dev friendly (one plus, nexus, moto z line maybe, zte axon7 maybe). Anything att Branded from here on out will likely be locked down.

Hello i dont have p20 pro yet but i am willing to buy it and i wwnt to ask some questions.
1.do i need to unlock the bootloader to root the p20 pro?only root and twrp not flash custom rom.
2. I heard the huawei shut down the Unlocking bootloader process and find some guides that asking for money. Can i do it free?
Thanks
Yes you need to unlock the bootloader to root and flash and no there is no free solution. Buy a Galaxy S9 if you can find it at the same price as it is way better than the P20 Pro.

Yeah, buy an s9 and lose warranty and many features by permanently breaking knox once you root it
It sucks that there is no free solution atm, but I am sure there will be one soon.

just search in guide and news subforum here, a lot of people shared the link already,
some got it from funkyhuawei, some from ebay, some from somewhere else,
price ranging from 20-40 bucks,
either its worth or not is up to you and the depth of your wallet, lol,
but all i can say is, unlocked bootloader is crucial for me,
will never buy a phone which not unlockable, and, rootable
