Artificial intelligence - camera - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

why do not we have AI on Android One?

The phone has AI, but for portrait mode only. The 'normal mode' will be available in the future.
"*Smart lens selection is available for Portait mode only. Support will be added for typical photo mode in a future update."

At MIUI already has. :/

It's been months, Android Pie has arrived and we still do not have Artificial intelligence on camera

sad :/

[Q] HDR+ mode in Google Camera

Hi,
I'm currently trying to decide between the Nexus 6 (too big!!!) and the Moto X (2014). One of the deciding factors is the camera. I love the HDR+ mode the Nexus 5 offers and that is going to get even better with Android 5. Sadly, I haven't seen any other device yet, that activates this option in Google Camera.
The Galaxy S4 GPE offers HDR, but without the "+". It still takes great shots though,
So, if you insstall Google Camera on the New Moto X, what kind of HDR mode do you get, and how well does it work?
Thanks!
installing the Google Camera on your Moto X unfortunately only gives you the standard HDR mode and not HDR+ like in the nexus devices.
What does the + do/add?

Here's a quote from phone arena
"Nexus 5 smartphone. The handset features the so-called HDR+ mode – a smarter HDR mode that can be used for capturing*"vivid photos by day and sharper photos by night".*When enabled, it can improve not only scenes containing both bright and dark sections, but also low-light images and shots with moving objects in them. Again, the software takes a rapid burst of photos and uses advanced algorithms to increase the signal-to-noise ratio of the combined image. If movement is detected, HDR+ takes only the sharpest single shot for that area, thus reducing motion blur."
Sounds cool.

S10e Portrait Mode

Has anyone tried out the software based "Portrait Mode" on the S10e yet? I was disappointed to read that Samsung included the wide angle camera as the second camera on the back of this smaller model, but apparently it still has a simulated AI power portrait mode option. I've looked online, but I don't see any sites comparing its portraits verses the regular S10. Are they comparable?
I'm spoiled by GCam, and the stock portrait mode for S10 is just not as accurate on the blur, and the colors are just crappy.

Depth vs. Bokeh Mode

Can somebody explain the difference between taking a picture in the standard "Photo" or "Pro" mode with Depth turned on vs. taking a picture in Bokeh mode? Is there and advantage of one over the other. Also, does capturing Depth have any effect for editing the RAW files in Lightroom? The camera processes pictures much faster with Depth turned OFF. So what I'd like to know is if there is any point in capturing Depth for regular everyday pictures (scenery, random family pics, etc.) in Photo or Pro mode vs. using Bokeh mode when I want that background blur effect.
I am rather confused by this too. According to the manual Bokeh is if you know you will want to change the focus area after taking the shot and Depth mode is for creating "a sense of depth and perspective". I suspect the depth images contain a lot more information than the Bokeh ones so will give you the potential for more impressive results. I just took test images in both modes of the same scene and actually the Bokeh image was the larger file (11MB versus 6.9MB), but I believe the depth mode data may be heavily compressed.
I have this phone and i am verry happy with this phone.i buy the phone on 15 march
But when i start the phone the first time there was a update.after the update i start the camera but i bever Find the bokeh modus on the camera app.is this function gone after the update ? Sorry my englisch is ferry bad .
Hi, you have to go into the camera app and select Bokeh mode from the list of modes about a quarter of the way up from the bottom (left to Pro). Depth mode is different and is activated from within the camera in Pro mode from the options at the top. Its the item to the right of the "hamburger". Hope that helps!
Thank you ferry much.
I have camera app 91.9.1160.53
And i still cant find bokeh .
I found a newer version of the app and try to install it.
IT was version 91.9.1170.61
When i open the app i can see bokeh.
Butt the app crashes when i choose bokeh.
I removed the update.
Do you Nokia 9 users have the same camera app version ?
Greetings
look at the camera settings and select mode management. Maybe it is switched off there?
I have the same version as you and I see it
If the camera app crashes, you should charge the battery. It's a known bug.
Oke thanks ,gonna try IT out
This is how mode management looks like

The difference is that Bokeh Mode puts the fake bokeh into the RAW file and you cant undo it anymore, right?
The biggest difference is... Don't use Bokeh, just enable Depth and set your focus manually. Bokeh is basically just a quick point-and-shoot version that tries to identify the target. Manual depth editing allows full control over it after the picture is taken. Just use the Depth editing.

This , just use Depth, works much better.
Bokeh mode on Nokia 9 is horrendous most of the time, it blurs some parts and leaves other parts unblurred (seems like the help Google provided did NOT include machine learning blurring lol).

No bokeh modus

I have a problem with bokeh I have my Nokia 9 and I am very happy with it. I just don't have bokeh mode in the camera app. I have the February patch. I have the camera app 91.9.1160.53 But no bokeh mode. Is there someone with the same problem

If i switch my phone from english to dutch , the "bokeh" mode changes to "staande modus" . for the rest it functions exactly the same .
So "Bokeh" = "Staande modus".
Except for the weird/wrong translation into dutch you are good.
I have 91.9.1160.53 on my phone .
Thank you so much for your message.
Funny. The Polish translation is also f *cked up. "Bokeh" = "Orientacja pionowa" (which means vertical orientation).
Bokeh mode isn't great on the phone though. If you enable Depth and just use Auto or Pro, you'll get a lot better pictures, and also be able to manually adjust the focus after the image is captured, instead of having the weird artificial looking focus point that Bokeh mode offers.
After the update ,finaly i have bokeh modus ?
Have a Nice weekend
When I switch bokeh mode on the front camera, video feed in viewfinder becomes very slow. Do you have the same issue?

Question Impossible to use flashlight with ultra wide camera

Why It is impossible to turn on the flashlight during usage of ultra wide camera?

1. The wide-angle camera uses multi-frame technology that combines multiples shots to get the best picture. However, flash light only allows single-frame shot. Therefore, flash light is disabled by default for these cameras to allow multi-frame shots with better effects. This is an official explanation by oppo for similar behaviour on their phones. Must be similar for Samsung. OnePlus does this too.
2. Wide angle cameras are usually meant for landscape photography where the subject is beyond the range of a phone flash, and flash usually introduces refraction artefacts from suspended particles in air.
3. When used for near object photography, wide angle also doubles as the macro camera, which doesn't play well with flash at close range. Once again, it probably has to do with multi frame capture and composite image processing which won't play well with only single frame photo that flash allows for.

It has to do more with reach than it does with multi frame technology since every camera (not just the ultra wide) uses multi frame tech. Cameras uses multiple frames to increase dynamic range (HDR) and reduce noise. Both are less necessary when flash is used. The problem is weak phone flashes don't have the ability to provide even lighting across the ultra wide angle, even in a smaller room. It's disabled at the API level so even third party apps won't have the option to turn on flash with the ultra wide.

I think that's a better explanation than the one I posted above
