If i switch my phone from english to dutch , the "bokeh" mode changes to "staande modus" . for the rest it functions exactly the same .
So "Bokeh" = "Staande modus".
Except for the weird/wrong translation into dutch you are good.
I have 91.9.1160.53 on my phone .
Thank you so much for your message.
Funny. The Polish translation is also f *cked up. "Bokeh" = "Orientacja pionowa" (which means vertical orientation).
Bokeh mode isn't great on the phone though. If you enable Depth and just use Auto or Pro, you'll get a lot better pictures, and also be able to manually adjust the focus after the image is captured, instead of having the weird artificial looking focus point that Bokeh mode offers.
After the update ,finaly i have bokeh modus ?
Have a Nice weekend
When I switch bokeh mode on the front camera, video feed in viewfinder becomes very slow. Do you have the same issue?

I noticed that the Camera always takes HDR photos l, when the Camera app uses the default 'Photo' mode. I alwqys have to switch to 'Pro' when i don't want to use HDR.
You can clearly see the difference, when taking Photos of landscapes with clouds.
There is no way to turn it off, but why?
Did someone also noticed this behavior?

You can take non hdr photos. Just take focus at the darker point and it won't use hdr to take a picture.
So why is there a special hdr mode, when it takes hdr pictures by default? I don't get it

i agree its a bad move on Huawei's part.
The HDR effect is too strong on a normal photo.
i think of it as:
Pro = no hdr
Normal Photo = hdr enabled to some extent depending on the dynamic range of the photo ( i.e. if its all a similar brightness then the HDR is very minimal - but if there are very dark and very lights areas it will be a bigger effect )
HDR mode = hyper-real HDR mode

Sure
I find the HDR function excellent and have no reason to ever turn it off. But you're right. For those who want it off, they should provide a no HDR option. The dedicated HDR mode under the 'more' tab should be rebranded as HDR Plus of something.
Yes, I have master AI disabled and I still get to keep the HDR function without the silly suggestions. I really like that.
Hi Everyone,
These days phones with bokeh or portrait mode doesn't zoom in the picture but when we enable Nokia camera in bokeh mode, it zooms in as compared to regular mode. Anyway to disable the zoom in bokeh mode in Nokia camera?

I think it's just how the live bokeh works. The phone uses the telephoto lens as the main camera capturing images, and the normal lens as secondary camera capturing depth. Correct me if I'm wrong
Can somebody explain the difference between taking a picture in the standard "Photo" or "Pro" mode with Depth turned on vs. taking a picture in Bokeh mode? Is there and advantage of one over the other. Also, does capturing Depth have any effect for editing the RAW files in Lightroom? The camera processes pictures much faster with Depth turned OFF. So what I'd like to know is if there is any point in capturing Depth for regular everyday pictures (scenery, random family pics, etc.) in Photo or Pro mode vs. using Bokeh mode when I want that background blur effect.
I am rather confused by this too. According to the manual Bokeh is if you know you will want to change the focus area after taking the shot and Depth mode is for creating "a sense of depth and perspective". I suspect the depth images contain a lot more information than the Bokeh ones so will give you the potential for more impressive results. I just took test images in both modes of the same scene and actually the Bokeh image was the larger file (11MB versus 6.9MB), but I believe the depth mode data may be heavily compressed.
I have this phone and i am verry happy with this phone.i buy the phone on 15 march
But when i start the phone the first time there was a update.after the update i start the camera but i bever Find the bokeh modus on the camera app.is this function gone after the update ? Sorry my englisch is ferry bad .
Hi, you have to go into the camera app and select Bokeh mode from the list of modes about a quarter of the way up from the bottom (left to Pro). Depth mode is different and is activated from within the camera in Pro mode from the options at the top. Its the item to the right of the "hamburger". Hope that helps!
Thank you ferry much.
I have camera app 91.9.1160.53
And i still cant find bokeh .
I found a newer version of the app and try to install it.
IT was version 91.9.1170.61
When i open the app i can see bokeh.
Butt the app crashes when i choose bokeh.
I removed the update.
Do you Nokia 9 users have the same camera app version ?
Greetings
look at the camera settings and select mode management. Maybe it is switched off there?
I have the same version as you and I see it
If the camera app crashes, you should charge the battery. It's a known bug.
Oke thanks ,gonna try IT out
This is how mode management looks like

The difference is that Bokeh Mode puts the fake bokeh into the RAW file and you cant undo it anymore, right?
The biggest difference is... Don't use Bokeh, just enable Depth and set your focus manually. Bokeh is basically just a quick point-and-shoot version that tries to identify the target. Manual depth editing allows full control over it after the picture is taken. Just use the Depth editing.

This , just use Depth, works much better.
Bokeh mode on Nokia 9 is horrendous most of the time, it blurs some parts and leaves other parts unblurred (seems like the help Google provided did NOT include machine learning blurring lol).

I never saw such a bad quality on P20 Pro. If you really want to take 40mpx photos, you should use Pro mode anyway, and change the focus area to wide to capture a detailed photo, otherwise by default(in any mode) the focus point is in the center, looking for a person/object. But even with default it should be a lot more clear. Be sure to update your phone using HiSuite for PC and reset the camera app. Best pictures are at 10mpx because it captures more light and they are downsampled from 40mpx. Also,at 40mpx it only uses the 40mpx RGB camera. Use photo mode for normal pictures, night mode for low light if you don't enable master AI,and Pro mode for more control. Be sure to understand all the settings, especially focus modes. Your picture was in a low light environment, you should have sticked to 10mpx,or Pro mode(but at 40mpx some settings are not there because like I said,it does not use all the cameras)

HiSuite say im using newest official update clt-l29 9.0.0236 (C432E5R1P9)(official version)
i made hard reset and roll back to 8.0 and didint help , also cleared cache/app date
can someone put photo from p20 pro in similar conditions ?
The 40MPix mode is amazing if you want to a) capture most of details and b) if you want to play with photo in Snapseed or PSe for example. I use is because it doesn't do HDR, that CAN be too aggressive when 10mpix is enabled. Can you share this photo somewhere else, because zippy share is overflow with advertisment.
Jpeg from raw
For example - jpeg made from raw in pro mode, edited in lightroom mobile.
EDIT: ooops, xda scrambled quality...
Btw I do not see a problem in your photo. If you zoom 100% of course, the photo will not be sharp nor pleasant to see, but 40MPixs can surely be printed for example on A2 and look gorgeous (in fact, everything >12MPix will). The point is, you took picture against the sun, that means it had to deal with huge amount of direct sunlight, that's probably the reason the grass and mud is so... well... not sharp. It's partly simple optics and party too agressive postprocessing.
Ive tried multiple GCAM port from, BSG, Shamim, LMC, Arnova etc... Some of them crashed instantly, some of them made it up to video mode and seemed to work just fine with the video mode. But couldn't sustain in photo mode.
Only working version i found is quite old BSG 8.1 but that also seemed pretty laggy, is there anyone who uses gcam for this specific model!
Video moder working model: SGCAM 8.4 V43
I will truly be grateful to you for your assist.
Install AGC8.4.300_V9.5.apk .. now long tap on cam icon (the yellow one) .. then open settings .. and copy these settings as you see
Disable the settings as I show them to have very smooth viewfinder
I prefer not to use the automatic AWB, with the settings I wrote to you, you should be able to take excellent photos both with the automatic AWB (coldest photos) and without the automatic AWB (photos with more natural colors)
Only the main camera works, the night mode does not work, the videos also work at 4k 60fps (also in slowmo)

you should try it yourself, it depends on the situations, I find a more accurate and natural hdr in backlit situations that are not easy
I find more marked details (sharpness)
if set as I wrote, I don't experience lag, crash or anything else
