That's a no dawg.
Once you update to 8.0 Oreo, there is no going back to 7.1.1 Nougat. You are stuck on that. There are threads in the forum where users have gotten it working.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say, I did this operation dozens of times before on my SM-N950F, and it always worked very well. So why now do I always have fails when I use Odin? I don't like Oreo, battery life is just crappy. Is there really no way to go back??

You cannot downgrade the ROM to a lower bootloader. For instance with luckyfate he has bootloader 5, which is the newest. The bootloader number is in the firmware 5CRG9, which is the first number in that. And Nougat was on bootloader 3. So if your bootloader is still on 3 you can downgrade to Nougat, but if you are on 4 or 5 there is no way you can get back to Nougat, maybe with rooting but I'm not sure about that. That's why on certain updates it gives a warning that if you update you can't go back to previous versions of the software. I hope this helps.

revert back to 7.1.1 nogut

Downgrade to android Oreo

i just upgraded my note 9 SM-N960F from dutch 8.1.0 to German 9.0 pie via Odin . and to be honest im so disappointing with this UI and the whole update i was wondering if is it still possible to downgrade back to Oreo again ???
thanks alot
I think that it should be possible with Odin but honestly I never done it before so don't know. By the way, is the black mode feature implemented it this version of Pie in the toggles or in settings ?
Because I read someware that the initial version of this black mode or night mode or however it's called is not fully implemented like the final version should be.
toggles and settings both of them in night mode , but its not stable i have the feeling its slower my phone down some unknows issus
First try clear cache in recovery mode maybe can resolve. also try to update apps with play store or with galaxy apps because some apps must need an update to the pie version.. After that if all is worthless, maybe a factory reset will resolve Sometimes corrupted data may do this after an update specially after a big OS change like this.

Hey let me know if you succeed, as I’m thinking of downgrading as well. ONE UI PIE-9 isn’t all it’s made out to be Oreo 8.1 rocks!

Please try now it's fixed sorry about that!!
These are all the firmware’s i found for your country as there are 2 provider for you country Thailand.. (SEE PIC) i got a feeling you will be on (THL) i could be wrong man I’m not 100% sure.. i hope someone answers you as i am kind of guessing, I don’t want to mess up your NOTE-9 for you!
i heard somewhere flashing wrong firmware, can make you lose OEM LOCK!! Why not try this launch SAMFIRM.EXE and input firmware from pic or try this first launch SAMFIRM.EXE and select auto to see if it picks up the firmware you need to download Oero 8.1!!
I have never used ODIN before and wanted to know if I need to be rooted to be able to downgrade from Pie to last Oreo firmware?
Also if doing so will cause a factory reset and will I loose the data.
Thanks.

Will that affect Knox and Secure Folder feature in anyway?
If not, then this seems to be the Samsung approved official method of flashing firmware. Is that so?
Thanks

No Knox will stay 0x0 as your flashing official firmware.. Root and Roms trip Knox and secure folder S,Health etc. So you can flash away regular firmware without any issues!

I'm hoping someone can further clarify the steps needed to downgrade to Oreo. I have the 96OU unlocked US version and I upgraded using the modded Odin method for US Snapdragon versions in the Guides section. I do not like the carrier bloat that was added to my phone and would like to revert back to 8.1. I went to SamMobile and looked up my firmware which I believe is N96OU1UEU1ARL1, my actual model is SMN96OU1ZKFX. I have downloaded Odin3 v3.13.1. I originally used Odin3 v3.13.1 3B patchedD to upgrade. Do I run Odin (non-patched) then input the BL, AP, CP and CSC files from the extracted 1ARL1 file and select Auto reboot and F.Reset Time only, not re-partition? Can I use the patched version of Odin if I want?
I have been looking for a step by step tutorial for this but just can't find one.

If you're back on the latest stock T-Mobile firmware (8.1) ,T-Mobile US hasn't pushed it (9.0) out yet. (guessing you're on T-Mo US,going by your info)

Hey Venom, ever since upgraded to pie via an update file from XDA, my software update screen says this and I never get OTA updates. I always have to flash each rom manually thru Odin.
Any ideas why my phone can't update via OTA anymore? I have not tried factory resetting or anything. I have however flashed several firmwares via Odin with no change.

Same thing happened to me. not sure if i got a bad download or what but i grabbed a fresh copy (of n960U1, the unlocked rom without carrier bloat) and i was able to receive OTA updates again.
@Venom0642 i have a question, why are incremental updates only say 200-1000mb over OTA, but when flashing they are always the full 4-5gb ROM files?

Hi,
I have had an issue with my Note 9 with the firmware from November right before this. I prefer Oreo to Pie so I wanted to update. The AT&T N960USQS1ARL2 files I have downloaded do not includ the home_cmc file and I do not want to reinstall apps and data. Please advise how I can get the home_cmc file.

Pie is not out for the US phones yet, you'll have to wait some more time. But if you want to try the beta pie firmware look under the note 8 guide forums and for SM-N950U/U1/W beta pie... but since it should becoming in a week or so just wait.
Atm pie is only available for the international models SM-N950F (exynos soc).

No!
Just remember once you go to bootloader 5 NO going back to bootloader 4.
Flashing the pie firmware will automatically bring your bootloader to version 5.

Ahh sorry mate missed your post. The cqrrier specific threads here on s8 and up are pretty much dead. Yeah the safestrap and junk is all here on xda. Cf technicly is made for us yes. But because we have a locked bl it wont work. But if we where say to unlock it tomorrow yes cf auto would work perfectly in therory..if you search xda and s8 no verizon youll be taken. Screw it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8
The s8 is not like past devices. All U.S. models are identicle so any 950u thread can or will apply to you as well. Xda has a wonderful search bar at the top of each page and it actually works really good once you get to know it.
I'm coming late to the party so to speak.
I finally got a S8 (Verizon) but have yet to move over to it.
My current phone is an S7 (Verizon) and via this website I was able to use a "non-customized" firmware ROM files along with odin3.12 to flash my S7. I did that so that I could use the "moblie hotspot" feature and give wifi to my laptop as I have unlimited data on my phone.
My S7 is "stuck" on Android 7, July 1, 2017 security patch, G930UUES4QG1 which I have been fine with not getting any verizon updates so long as I can use the "moblie hotspot".
Are you saying that with the S8 it is **NOT** possible to do what I did with the S7?
Here is the info on my S8
Model: SM-G950U
Carrier: Verizon
Android Version: 8.0.0
Baseband: G950USQS5CSB1
Kernel: 4.4.78

Question about Note 8 - N950UZKAXAA - firmware update back to unlocked/carrier free

I have N950UZKAXAA (USA Unlocked, carrier free) but about 8 months ago, i flashed the carrier version of Oreo with the hope that it supports AT&T wifi calling, but it was still blocklisted, so i moved on to Sprint. It gets monthly security patches up until February 1 (currently on N950USQS5CSA1).
I want to flash back the carrier free firmware, as i think it got Android Pie. Is it possible to flash Android Pie or Oreo again? If so, what version is good to flash?
Thanks
I think I can follow this below firmware ?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-sm-n950u-u1-t3685884
Oreo
N950U1UEU3CRC1
with "Odin3_v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD" ??
The guide says : Note - If you are flashing Unlocked Firmware from Carrier Firmware you must use Prince Comsy Odin otherwise, use regular Odin.
But no prince comsy for Oreo !!!

The Z builds are all bets builds. If you're still on a beta build of Pie, you'll need to flash to an official release. I sold my Note 8, so I'm not sure what the current build number is.
