I just saw that we can get pie, however I don't see my software version being mentioned. I'm on att and my build number ends in rd7. Can anyone clear this up for me?

Pie is not out for the US phones yet, you'll have to wait some more time. But if you want to try the beta pie firmware look under the note 8 guide forums and for SM-N950U/U1/W beta pie... but since it should becoming in a week or so just wait.
Atm pie is only available for the international models SM-N950F (exynos soc).

Is it going to matter if I'm still on bootloader 4?

No!
Just remember once you go to bootloader 5 NO going back to bootloader 4.
Flashing the pie firmware will automatically bring your bootloader to version 5.

Hello all.
I just received an "unlocked" Sprint Note 8 cellphone N950U and Im a little confused.
I used to had a Note 4 that i flashed with a U firmware that removed all the bloatware, is this avaible for the Note 8?
Why arent custom roms or a stable root (magisk) avaible for this cellphone?
Had a lot of time retired from Samsung side (OnePlus guy here) but was stolen during a car accident that i had this weekend.
Thanks a lot and dont forget your safety belt while driving!

EDIT: Never mind... wrong link if you want to root the phone. This is your only option to root on snapdragon. I would suggest you read through that thread.

Note 8 is locked bootloader ....there will be no twrp for it until it's unlocked ....which probably won't ever happen .. root is available but not once it's updated past bootloader v3 ...it's the only phone I have had that I didn't root ....I have flashed the Oreo roms and the unlocked versions .... But there aren't any custom roms ...

Oreo has not been OFFICIALLY released for the Note8. There has been some leaked builds, but none for the unlocked U1 firmware. So if you want Oreo, you'll have to go with carrier firmware.

Now, seriously, all of your questions have been answered in detail, and in guides, here on XDA. I highly encourage you to use the search bar and do some research of your own.

No, we need to wait for the U1 update to be released witch has typically been the last to be released. I believe these are the U versions being referred to here. Also everything new on Sammobile is the U so far. It shouldn't much longer for us.

I'm using it on project fi and no December update yet either.
I also have U1 version.
Note 960U 8\512 US Spectrum nothing since November 1, 2018.
I may not update until my Bixby Button and Navbar App's are updated!

Have not receives any updates since November update too on Sprint using unlocked model. It seems either Sprint or unlocked version always receives the updates last in the US.

Got mine today too. I thought it was Android Pie because it was being moved up for January, but damn it was moved back again.

I ended up using the firmware.science to update to pie. That bumped me up to December update automatically on pie. I also get to keep the Unlocked firmware without any bloatware and the rom is rocksolid stable.

After reading from users how the pie update takes away functionality and is full of bugs, I'm fine with them delaying the rollout.

Looking to see if anyone on T-mobile has Android Pie 9.0 yet, the official download. That, or does anyone know when it'll come?

Nope. Probably within the next month I hope.
In the US, officially not yet. I think Verizon was the first one to update the Note 8 to Android 8... I'm not sure how quickly T-MOBILE updated their phones

Just for reference, the Note 8 on T-Mobile didn't get a stable build until May '18 (April '18 version got pulled, buggy).
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-36189
Since the Pie update isn't even on T-Mo's radar yet,I'm guessing we're looking at an equally long wait:

Nope. No bootloader update yet for the note 9 so you are safe to downgrade back to Oreo or even over to u1 firmware if you'd like.

I have N950UZKAXAA (USA Unlocked, carrier free) but about 8 months ago, i flashed the carrier version of Oreo with the hope that it supports AT&T wifi calling, but it was still blocklisted, so i moved on to Sprint. It gets monthly security patches up until February 1 (currently on N950USQS5CSA1).
I want to flash back the carrier free firmware, as i think it got Android Pie. Is it possible to flash Android Pie or Oreo again? If so, what version is good to flash?
Thanks
I think I can follow this below firmware ?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-sm-n950u-u1-t3685884
Oreo
N950U1UEU3CRC1
with "Odin3_v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD" ??
The guide says : Note - If you are flashing Unlocked Firmware from Carrier Firmware you must use Prince Comsy Odin otherwise, use regular Odin.
But no prince comsy for Oreo !!!

The Z builds are all bets builds. If you're still on a beta build of Pie, you'll need to flash to an official release. I sold my Note 8, so I'm not sure what the current build number is.
