Hello!
I know that there were a lot said about battery problems in 4.1.2 android, but i still haven't found any solution on my problem. My Note was bought with GB 2.3.6 and had an awesome battery, but after i updated it to JB 4.1.2 (via Kies), suddenly battery life is catastrophic. I have everything off (bluetooth, wi-fi, gps), my screen brightness is on minimum, i use my phone on GSM band (not 4g), i also disabled some of unused apps, etc...everything said was also my practice on previous version 2.3.6 and phone battery lasts up to 4 days, but now, it drains off in 17hrs and I barely use my phone!
If I check battery stats, it shows that screen is the major consumer of battery and it seems like it is on all the time, although the phone screen is physically off most of the time. It means something causing my phone being awake all the time instead of being off.
Any ideas how to fix this??

4 days? really? think that is unheard of. Either how, it should last longer than 17 hours.
Try going back to factory settings, perhaps theres something running thats divided by zero :silly: .
If you feel adventurous you can also choose to root & try a custom rom. Though thats your responsibility and choice entirely.

Yup 4 days, not kiddin...4 days of average use.
I forgot to mention that i already did the factory reset and i also wipe the cache partition in recovery menu... I disabled practically everything, and i use things when i need, nothing is set on auto, sync or anything. Last night I didn't touch the phone for about 9 hrs and battery consumption was around 1% which is ok, but it's draining everytime i turn on the screen like 5% in 10mins. BBS shows that well known GTALK_ASYNC_CONN as a battery eater. Is it possible to kill this annoying thing on un-rooted phone???
I love the phone, but actual use doesn't drain the battery quickly, but standby does. I use avast battery saver, and it doesn't help. Over 20 minutes I lost 2 percent, or 1 percent every 45 minutes. It's annoying how quickly it drains. I have the unlocked edition with 6.0 for two days now, and battery life hasn't improved. Ive wiped the cache and have done a reset, but to no avail. Should I root and go to a different ROM, or try something else? thanks.
What kind of apps do you have installed? Have you gone into the battery details to see what's using the battery? I have had CM 13 and like it, but can't really tell much difference between it and stock besides having much better control and customization, things that I find it hard to live without (granted, I only had stock 6 for a few hours).

AH this is my other account, but i have instagram and snapchat being the only auto refresh apps, and snapchat only loads when i open it so it doesnt sync when its on standby, and ive reinstalled instagram. Without it, nothing changes. So im at a loss as to changing roms or sticking with stock
Have you looked at the 'Battery' section in settings to see what it says about per-app usage? It lists the apps by how much each one has used, and gives useful information about how long each one has been active, how many times it has woken the phone, etc..... Not sure about stock, but in CM13 it even estimates how many mAh each one has used. I would try to figure out what exactly is using the battery before switching to a custom rom (unless you're wanting to switch anyway), because there's a chance that if it's a specific app that's causing the drain it will still do it on a custom rom. I would also get rid of any battery or system managers, savers, optimizers etc... I'm not saying that none of them ever work, but obviously they're not working for you, and could be part of the problem.
I don't lose any more than 5 percent overnight on CM13. There are only 3 issues [that I am aware of] that you may have going from stock to Cyanogenmod: Moto voice doesn't work (OK Google does), Android Pay probably won't work, and if you use Google Cardboard you'll have to change the dpi settings in display options, which is no big deal. The one thing that I miss from stock is Moto voice and being able to wake the phone with my customized hot phrase. Other than that everything 'just works' and is smooth, stable and super fast. And gets an update almost every day.
Rooted Note 8/FD 64gb with exposed installed.
Fully charged. From 100 to 90 took only 25 minutes using phone normally with wifi.
And also it charges too late. From 33 to 63 took 45 minutes.
And also scrolling chrome faces lag also playing simple games like "Dune"
Is all of this normal?
Anyone else facing this problem?
I know the warranty is void, but garanty too?
Anyone know a fix?
+ I used smart switch and sent all of my note 4 apps and data to this phone.
and let me add that I played it in game mode so its expected not to lag.
It even lags much more when I start recording...
Restoring is known to cause some issues, I manually installed everything and all has been fine

I did a factory reset and installed no apps.
Just used 4g a little, but still see how fast is draining...
Do you have any other idea?
I think You should flash stock firmware with Odin and leave it on Your phone for a couple of days and see if Your battery gets better.
Also, You should expect around 4 to 6:30hr SOT on Note8. That's the SOT I get and it's usually with low/medium usage.
And on my Xiaomi phone I get 10-12hr SOT with pretty high usage.
Samsung phones don't have the best battery life but I guess it's enough for most people + You can use quick charge.
So, do these things:
Flash stock firmware with Odin.
Use Your phone for like 3-4 days(OS will optimise itself to Your usage).
Take screenshots of how much SOT You get every day and see if it improves during these 3 days.
Tell us about Your results and then we will be able to tell You if Your phone is normal or needs repair .
I know that xposed v88 was bad for n8 regards battery drian.
I have installed v89 xposed.
And it looks much better than older versions.
I know it sounds stupid, but have you checked for viruses?
battery drainage and data consumption are sometimes signs that you have unwanted software or apps installed on your phone.
Do the following steps and see if it works:
1. Boot your phone into Safe Mode.
2. Search for the virus (For this, go to Settings > Application Manager and tap the Downloaded apps section. In most cases, the virus is a third-party app, so look at what you’ve downloaded over there and see if there’s anything suspicious. Notice that your phone may have other types of malicious software but technically these are not viruses.)
3. Uninstall any suspicious app that you can't identify
4. Remove the Device Administrator Status of the virused app
The guide can be found here: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/how-to-tell-if-your-phone-has-a-virus/
Let me know if you can identify anything suspicious.

I get around 9.5 to 10 hours sot. I took following measures.
1. format phone using recovery.
2. perform graphic test. It will re-install your update.
3.reboot your phone.
4. Setup your phone fresh Do not recover any apps from your google account. Manually install from play store or take a backup of apk's on your memory card/pc.
5. Enter your google account only after entire phne setup is complete.
6. Install all your apps.
7. Setup your apps under Adaptive battery as per requirement.
8. Disable adaptive brightness.
After setting up your phone, messages and other stuff force stop and disable google and google play store(wipe data and cache of both apps). This may seem controversial but it seems Google apps are causing some issues. You can activate them on need basis.
Your battery will drain faster for a week as Adaptive battery learns your battery usage. Post one week it will perform as a charm. Also recalibrate your battery from 15-100% 1-2 times, it might help.
I would also like to point that I am not using Nokia's quick charge but rather Sony's normal charger. It charges a bit slow by also keeps my device cool.
I can confirm this as for the last cycle my Sot was 9hrs 40 mins(90%to 15%) and for previous to last cycle it was around 7 hrs 43 mins(this was when I deactivated google apps and play store at 53%). Sorry I forgot to take screenshot to prove it. Refer screenshot below. I started video loop at 53%. At this time my Sot was 4.5 hrs.
I am sure you would have tried every word in the dictionary to get you battery performing good, there's no harm in trying this one too. But, it's your call.
I am not saying that you should try it. This is what worked for me and I am sharing it with you.
My entire test was with 90% Volte and 10% wifi(I exhausted my data pack).
P.S: I have deactivated all the fancy stuff like glance, wake up on pick etc. Brightness at 35%. I am using dark theme for app drawer and wallpapers.
Hope this works for you.
My only gripe is how to reduce battery standby time. It seems rooting would be the only option.

As I said in my previous post, I tried all the possible solutions to get a good battery. This was part of the last thing I tried and I got a pretty decent Sot. Hence I am sharing it.
The graphics setup may work for some, it may not for some... but for sure it won't brick your device. So no harm trying it.
Completely charging and draining the battery twice fixed my problems. I get good battery life on Pie.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience and giving me your help..I will consider this option
Try disabling adaptative battery and checking that it is dosable because it likes to activate itself.

This is exactly which I tried for the past two weeks and am getting mixed results altogether.
Medium usage 6h 30min SOT with 42 hour standby
Roughly 2 days since i charged and it has been connected mostly on wifi. That is a good mix.
Flat out if i use it from 100% then it will/may last even 9-10 hours SOT

You mean draining battery completely to 0 % ?
Hello, I had p30pro and was perfectly satisfied with it but from curiousity changed it for oneplus 7 pro and then galaxy note 10+, wasn't satisfied with those devices because of worse battery life than p30pro, I had 8-10h screen on time with p30pro and ~5h with one plus 7 pro and galaxy note 10+. (gsmarena endurance rating is not correct, p30pro according to them has 100h endurance rating and galaxy note10+ has 107h, so I expected battery life to be pretty much the same but its far from that )
because of magnificent battery life on p30pro i changed back to p30pro, but this is second unit I got and battery life is not like on the first one. first one was 1 year old 8/128, current one is 8/256 3 months old and I have like 5-6 hours screen on time with new one which does not satisfy me, battery life is primary reason i got back on p30pro.
usage is the same, same applications installed as far as i am aware
I have screenshot from first p30pro with 8hours screen on time and 25% battery left, it was so great that I had to save it  and battery life was contant like that
Other pictures attached is from current device, 3h31min screen on time with 38% battery left, so by the time it drops to 25% like screenshot from first p30pro it would be like 4h30min screen on time, big difference. battery life is constant like that
any tips, solutions, suggestions, thoughts?
-i did wipe the cache in recovery
-i tried dark mode
-no app seem to be draining the battery
solutions that i am thinking about:
-wait for 10.1 update for my device and see if there is any changes
-sell this one and get third p30pro (really dont want to do that, I will lose money and time and would be furious if i dont get good battery like on first device )
-factory reset (really dont want to do that, I will lose half a day again customizing and installing everything)
is integrated battery info correct, could there be something /an app that drains the battery but is not showing correctly in battery usage?
FAULTY UNIT?
There must be somethnig draining battery , either delete one by one apk and see if it improved, then you will know which apk was trouble, or hard reset and manually reinstall all apks, do not use backup as faulty apk will do same harm.
Second phone was new or second hand? If second hand you should do hard reset first.., tip for future..
one thing I noticed on screenshot from first device is that I was using only one sim card back then, I turned off second one now and will see if battery improves, altough in Screen On Time thread I see people have 8-10 screen on time regularly with two mobile signals.
"there must be something draining the battery..." can there be anything like that but not showing in battery usage correctly? because everyhing in battery usage seems fine.
both phones was second hand and I did reset them, but from menu, dont know if there is any difference in reseting from recovery?
1. EMUI 10.1 have same battery in some cases may be worse battery than EMU 10
2. Why sell phone if this one is good just need find what eat battery
3. Factory reset thats in many cases fix drain problem but if you wont do that why you not do backup first than make factory reset
Solution
1. Try put all apps in sleep mode settings ---> battery ---> startup apps (there enable sleep mode on all apps only leave apps from where you want get notifications)
2. Dark mode i recommend you use it any time its not save your battery too much but it can help to save battery
3. Use Huawei optimizer app to clean junks and optimize phone
4. Disable synchronizatios
5. Disable GPS, NFC, Bluetooth if you not use it (if you use any navigation than just use GPS when you not need it)
6. I see your Google Chrome use too much battery use instead Kiwi Browser
7. Same about Instagram use light version of instagram or try InstaMod app its better for me
8. Your screen display use 24+ % battery try lower light i have set on AUTO BRIGHTNESS (Tips in settings display set lower resolution)
9. Cell standby try disable mobile data when you not need and btw try put sim in another slot
10. Disable or Uninstall all apps from Google i have disabled Google Movies, Google Music, Google Drive and mayn other apps just disable all apps which you not use
11. I see you are on stock launcher you can try Nova Launcher or Evie Launcher or Microsoft Launcher....(Tips Evie Launcher is one of the lighweight launcher and build for performance/battery i now use Microsoft Launcher which is same as Evie but with little more functions
If you need any info just ask
so I disabled second sim card yesterday and this is result I have now, much better! 1h16min screen on time with 86% battery, which corresponds with about 8h screen on time :good:
can't believe another sim card has so much impact on battery life. my signal is full!
in next few days I will try only 3g or 2g enabled instead of 4g for second sim card to see if that makes a difference.
5 hours & 40% still left, always using data connection. Mainly browsing and watching videos.
VOG_L29D EMUI 10.1.0.126, firmware updated using hisuite proxy
But also any other firmware version was giving the. Same SOT

Yes brightness is always automatic (indoor and outdoor) , i rarely use wifi,
Usage, facebook, YouTube and emailing, and some light gaming.
Also I'm using two sim cards but disabled 4g on the first sim card wich i use in calls and left the data line 4g.

I think I found your cause of drain. Go to settings, apps, apps, on the top right click on show system apps, then check for hms core. Click that, then on the top right you will se a gear. Click on the gear and carefully untick everything that has to do with data sharing, analytics etc. Check your battery again and let me know mate ??
