The battery usage jumps between 45 and 65% randomly within seconds. Two screen shots attached.
Also gsam shows its using more than the usual for me battery usage? Any ideas before uninstalling updates and reinstalling? Thanks.

Might be something that have failed like a sync with Samsung Cloud or a site that keep sending notifications ?
For me, at least, browsers in general take by far the most of battery consumption. Maybe just the nature of the beast. I didn't measure but not such a big jump as on yours.
I disabled and installed Samsung Internet Beta and it seems ok now . Using the same extensions as well.

Hey mate. Actually this is something I've noticed with practically every app I have installed, they all show different percentages depending on how I navigate to that particular screen.
No idea what's causing it though haha.

I guess it's a different measure on both screens one is % of total apps and the other is usage since fully charged. Mine are showing the same. See my screenshots for comparison.

Yes True! It does jump up and down. And settles at the one that is on the second screen. Must be a software bug.

Yeah it's definitely glitching out because it seems completely random. It's not a big problem but hopefully it gets fixed with our first big update whenever that will be.

Without a doubt. Before 4.2, my screen on time topped out at 5 hours. Now I can pull 6 hours.
Sounds off. No change at all in 4 hours? Can't be correct.

I noticed the longer battery life also. When a lot of stuff is running sometimes I will use the ES Taskmanager Kill app and when I did that there is more free memory than before and even when a lot of apps are being used there is more free memory than before also.
HOLY. Definitely inaccurate. I notice a small increase in battery life, but nothing that big. I get like 30 minutes extra.

It's not strange on a devices with such a big battery to last 4 hours on 100%. Notice how the screen is rarely on?

That's what I was thinking. But since I bought the device, it hasn't done this. This is either a bug or battery life is extremely increased!
On 4.1.2 my battery drops 1% in 16 minutes of the same usage. This is definitely way beyond!
Still monitoring it.
Might as well play a few games to see what happens.
There is definetely a bug with battery readings.. It is likely drop more than normal , once it drops to %99.
Ok. I did a bit of NFS and it brought my battery down to 95%. Now to see if it'll drop normally.
...

I think your battery stats are jammed, I'm not seeing anything like that at best 30 - 40 minutes of extra battery, which is still nice. If your right your device is drawing power from the air around it

I would say, post the SCREEN ON TIME, as well as the STAND BY TIME ... Both are important.
Also, some bits of info how did you use the device and general settings (auto-brightness, GPS on/off, WiFi? 3G?) ...
Otherwise, it won't matter ... I can have 6-7 hours screen on time on my GNex for doing nothing ...
Push this thread! We need the answers with screenshots from the ones who already got a final device! This is much better then all the reviews.

Yeah something wrong there.. that's about 1/3 of what my GNex does, and common wisdom is the battery life on that is poor.

Yeah the Wi-Fi bar on my Nexus 4 is solid across the entire history graph as well. Now I don't remember what that's supposed to look like. Having WiFi turn off when the screen is off is worst for the battery. The phone will just switch to 3G when it needs data.
Sorry op but this will not get anyone anywhere.
You need to set up rules. Screen on time can be determined by MANY, MANY factors
First of all it would be good to make a screenshot of the battery inventory. For instance
Out of 100% how much % was dedicated to the browser or what else other program
I would really reocmmend downloading gsam battery stats and making a screenshot within the app. It lists a lot of things,
I bet you this phone can do 8 hours of screen on time if not longer, how? Just leave the screen open the whole time and do nothing. So while one might get 8 hours and the other 2 - we will never know under what circumstances thus this thread being useless.
Right now we only have a screenshot of the phone's screen on time ONLY. Useless. I've experienced that telephone calls drain more battery than the screen itself or uses up to at least as much.
really? i barely used the phone. everyone is turned off except wifi and i did not even use the the browser. this can't be real. only that much time and it's almost halfway dead and i barely used it. i know there have been battery threads before but man... how can it be this horrible. btw juice defender don't do crap, i've had it for the today and yesterday, was crap so i uninstalled. had brightness are low as i can without making me squint.

I've had relatively poor battery life as well... I went 12 hours with a recharge from 10 to 50% again before it completely drained...
I'm not impressed with the battery on this phone but everything else has been great.
... I'm starting to think I'll have to make my own Qi Charger for pant pockets... embed it in your pocket so whenever the phone is there it's charging. I'm seriously considering trying this to see if it's possible... if so, i'm doing it for sure. Or a carrying case with an extra battery and a Qi Charger... or a Qi charger dock for the car... you get the idea. Wireless charging shouldn't be the fix for poor battery life, but it definitely could help it.

Task managers mess around with Android's memory management and it is fairly well known that they usually end up draining more battery than they save. Try getting rid of it.
Also other people are reporting that the battery life gets better after a few days of using. Is yours really new? Im not sure how true that is btw.
Probably a combination of that task killer and a wake lock.

Install Franco's kernel. Battery life has been outstanding (1 Gmail account sync, 1 Exchange account sync, maybe 30 minutes of calls and 100+ texts a day; I have location services & Google Now enabled as well). I average 3+ hours screen on time and I normally end the day around 30% ...
I would stay away from task managers ... it's not that I know what's going on more than you or anyone else, but well established and respected kernel developers recommend against it. If these guys don't know then I honestly don't know who else does ...

Yep...20-30 minutes won't tell the tale. I'd also recommend Brightness Toggle widget...allows a few extra steps (16 total, IIRC) of brightness control over stock, to fine tune screen brightness, often another culprit.

Hello guys!
I have battery drain problems and I can't find the reason if it's causing it an app or just bad radio signal. Overnight my phone loses about 5-6% with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Data, location switched off in about 6 hours of sleep. Same drain had it with airplane mode enabled in some occasions.
A detail I want to report, is that I have closed background data for all of my apps, except those apps I want to have notifications, such as Viber, Telegram, Gmail, Google, Calendar, Tapatalk, YouTube etc. Closing background data it's a method I use (right or wrong) to all of my previous phones and I thought it would be helpful with battery drain issues.
I'm on Android 11 but same thing happened with Α10 too. I use 90Hz refresh rate, no motion sense at all. No Root or unlocked bootloader. Radio signal ranges about -87dBm to -90dBm and I uninstalled all of my apps to find the problem. What could it be;

Installed BBS with ADB commands to unlock battery stats etc, cause I haven't root.
Here some screenshots. I'll send some more the next few days.

It would be better to save a dump and post it in the BBS thread. There are a lot of people who have been analyzing dumps for years there. Make sure to make it for at least 6 hours with less than 1 minute screen on time.
I would strongly advise against using Servicely and Naptime. They are not needed on newish phones and OSs and can cause more harm than good.
Btw, it sounds like you're getting less than 1%/hr idle drain, which isn't that bad.

Instructions are in the OP of that thread.
Basically have your phone charged to around 90% or so (can be less but don't charge it to 100%), unplug and immediately turn off your screen. Don't use the phone for 6 hours (so best to do it overnight). After at least 6 hours turn your screen on and go into BBS and save a dump file (it's under the share icon and will be saved in Internal storage>Android/data/com.asksven.betterbatterystats/files/download). Or if easier you can share it to a place where you can retrieve it. Then post that dump file in the thread.
