I'm getting really annoyed with my phone for one simple reason. When I leave it turned on and plug it in, I get this annoying black/blue/purple screensaver type thing that moves about the screen. It lights up my room when I'm trying to sleep, keeps me awake, thus annoys me. Does anyone know of a way to turn it off?
Sorry I tried to look around in Q&A and couldn't find a threat on this topic, unless I'm using the wrong keywords, which is very possible. If there's already an answer on a thread for it, please link me or just reply with it here. Thanks!
EDIT: I might've answered my own question but I need to test it out. I went to SETTINGS>DISPLAY>SCREEN SAVER and turned it off. If this doesn't work, I'll post back. I'm a bit puzzled as to why I'd need a screen saver once I plug it in and press the power button once to put it to sleep.

Okay i was out in the rain the other day and my Diamond was in my pocket.
Ever since my power button has stopped working. I guess my phone got wet somehow...
Now i always get the " Power will be turned off and you may lose data if you have not saved them. Do you want to continue?"
It just keeps popping up every minute or so it and wont bloody go away.
My power button wont turn the phone off/on or even lock my phone. So I'm guessing it's dead.
I'm guessing there is a part in the phone I can replace to fix this. Can one of you gurus point me in the right direction on which part I would need to buy?
I'm from the UK..
Thank you in advance.
Little bit of an update. My battery died last night. So I put it on charge when I woke up.
I obviously had to use the power button to turn it on. And for some strange reason it worked!
But It wont allow me to lock my phone when it's turned on. And i also get the same issue with the message popping up as I posted above. Could anyone help
anybody know what part i would need to fix this?
(moved from wrong forum to right one!)
Here's a silly question,
How do I tell if the N1 is off? Without turning it on?
There have been several times where I've turned it off for the night (force of habit), and later couldn't remember whether or not I had in fact turned it off...
Of course hitting the power button only turns it on if it was in fact off... meaning that I have to wait a whole boot cycle before shutting it down again.
From the thread in the other forum:
Hitting the volume keys doesn't seem to do anything when the phone is sleeping, i.e. it doesn't wake the screen up.
I like the idea of the trackball on wake thing except that it will probably wake the phone up a lot when it's in my back pocket.
any other tips?

Trackballwake is the only way i can think. I used it on Cyanogenmod, and i didnt seem to have a problem constantly waking the phone in my pocket. Give it a shot, if it does cause a nuisance, back to square one.
Hello every one i have some trouble going on with my G1 do to that it cut off on me and never turn back on since; even dough I try to Reset it by pressing home+power button

Does your computer make the sound or does your phone make the sound? I may be wrong, but the phone must be on for either to make sound, so maybe it's a screen issue?
Welcome to XDA-Developers.com. I hope you enjoy your stay.
That said, please do not post non-development threads in the development subforum. Any questions should be posted in the Q&A subforum. For that reason, I have moved this thread.

yeah the computer makes the sound but the phone never turns on not even the key pad only when i removed the battery what i am going to try is to charge it all night to see if it's that thank you for all your help every one oh i forgot to mention that when it on the charger no light turns on on the phone to indicate that it's charging either
Hello everyone, this problem happened randomly yesterday. So the power button doesn't work at all when it worked fine before, and the LED charging light is now always green and always on. Also, when I remove the battery and put it back in, the phone automatically turns on! So, does anyone know what the heck is going on here? I don't think it's a ROM problem since i've been using my current ROM for the longest time (Kang-o-rama with CM6). If anyone has any clue or hints, please share! I'd like my N1 to work again Thanks!
That is definitely your power button that died on you...I've read you can turn the phone on by charging and taking out the battery then putting it back, I guess it works for you.
Maybe you could try another ROM/kernel to see if the battery led issue gets fixed...can you turn the screen off with the power button or what?
Nope, I can't use the power button at all. Can't turn off the screen, haha, so I have to wait until it times out.
Well then, there's your problem
I highly suggest you use a sleep widget for the sake of your battery and you probably are using trackball wake anyways I guess ^^
sigh, all right. so what do you think i can do to at least get rid of the constant green light?
Actually, I can't find that sleep widget you were talking about. Can you show me one on the market or somewhere? Thanks!
I use one called Lockscreenwidget. You can find a version that has simply changed the icon here: Link. I changed the icon to suit my own purposes (You can see in the screen shot thread) but if you'd like one made using your own icon gimme a buzz, it's easy enough to change.
Okay, have read, right across the net, and unfortunately the more I read, the more muddled I have become, so utmost apologies in advance, as I know this has been asked on numerous occasions, but I can't for the life of me, interpret the information correctly. Basically I bought a used nexus one, with the all famous dead power button. After struggling to wake it using the battery pull technique, I eventually managed to get it going. It came with cynogenmod 7.2.0-passion, already installed. Now I thought there was a way to start the phone, after its been powered off, by pressing other buttons like volume up or down, and I went in cynogenmod settings, hit input and ticked volume rocker awake, but this won't turn on my device when it's off. So not sure if it's possible at all to use some hack to turn on the phone with other buttons other than the dead power battery, because the pull battery technique, is not very reliable. Thanks in advance.

Hey dude, I feel your pain as I had a similar experience last week. But unfortunately, there is no way you can start your phone unless you get your button fixed. The only other way is to do the rather unpredictable battery trick.
The volume wake and trackball settings are there only to awake your phone and not to turn it on.

Cheers buddy, will just eBay it, then.
