How is 20mp rear camera even possible with SDM660? - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

I was reading about the MI A2's cpu and I've found that it supports dual camera up to 16mp and at the same time this phone has 20mp rear camera. Is that possible due to the pixel binning?

dual 16 = 32
20 + 12 = 32

This is wrong hypothesis. If max sum of 32mp was supported by the CPU, then how Samsung Galaxy A8 Star(with sdm660) has a rear dual camera (16+24=40)

This says 25MP https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-660-mobile-platform.
I think it's 12 and the binned 5 which both are under 16. It's also currently only used for portrait mode only. So we will see if future versions will support this for normal pics

Up to 25 camera and up to 16 for the second one, so Max is 25+16, Galaxy A8 star is 24+16, and A2 is 20+12

P9 plus camera aperture

P9p has twin camera which is with f2.2 each. Is the f2.2 x 2 = f1.8? Because I Wonder why the camera aperture is even smaller than mate 8 (f2.0).

Redmi Note 7 vs Samsung Galaxy M20

Here are the points of difference between the two phones. Let me know if I missed any.
1. Processor
Redmi Note 7 has better processor.
2. Display
Redmi Note 7 comes with IPS LCD panel which is better than TFT LCD panel found on the Samsung Galaxy M20.
3. Camera
For rear camera, Redmi Note 7 has resolution of 12 megapixels whereas Samsung Galaxy M20 comes with 13 megapixels. Though Redmi Note 7 has better aperture of 1.8 than Samsung Galaxy M20's 1.9.
For selfie camera, Redmi Note 7 has better resolution of 13 megapixels than Samsung Galaxy M20's 8 megapixels.
4. Memory
Redmi Note 7 offers more RAM options than Samsung Galaxy M20. Redmi Note 7 comes with 3GB, 4GB and 6GB ram variants whereas Samsung Galaxy M20 comes with 3GB and 4GB variants only.
You can read all other differences here.
I have also created a video on YouTube.
https://youtu.be/1XyPN4yn9Vs
I think Samsung have their own IPS like branding panel which is PLS (Plane Line Switching) .
FYI: IPS is also based on the TFT technology
Most people focuses on the fact that the camera is not 48MP but they seem to forget that the sensor is 1/2" inches, which is bigger than most smartphones.
1/2" sensor, 1.6 pixel size, that's GREAT hardware.

Exynos S10 8K video recording?

I was wondering if some devs started working on this since the Exynos 9820 officially supports 8K video recording. The phone is limited to 4K since it would cause inconsistencies with the Snapdragon variant. Does anybody have any news about this hack?
Unless 8k is supported by the sensor, you aren't recording in 8k. Doesn't matter what the chip supports. You can't record in 8k with a 4k camera
I remember that a simillar discussion was at the S4 forums 5 years back. It turned out that the camera was perfectly capable but the SoC lacked support.
8k is 33.2 megapixels (7680x4320). The main camera on the S10 phones is 12 megapixels. You're not getting anything close to 8k no matter what a developer tries to do.
Yup, camera does absolutely not have the resolution for that. At best, you'll oversample your 4k video to 8k, won't have more details and your video files will be a lot bigger.

The S20 lineup has HARDWARE support but the S10 lineup does not. The S20 and S20+ use the 64 MP telephoto camera to shoot 8K. The S20 Ultra uses it's 108 MP main camera to shoot 8K. The top count in the S10 lineup is 16MP. The CPU in the S10 is capable of 8K shooting but there isn't a camera with sufficient MP count on board.

thats resonable however 8k isnt something to panic about with tons of space and the giant display you gonna need i think is s10 is still a full package imo

Samsung Galaxy S10 plus

The Galaxy S10 Plus is Samsung's new 'everything device' for 2019, disturbing the equivalence of the last barely any ages of handsets. Its 6.4-inch screen is so huge it uproots the front camera, while its triple-focal point back camera can take ultra-wide photographs. Concealed advantages like an in-screen unique mark sensor and Wireless PowerShare offer a lot of clever highlights – simply know Samsung is requesting a ton of cash, as well.
Why you should purchase like me Samsung Galaxy S10 in addition to is this more prominent than Samsung Galaxy S9 in addition to?
The new highlights presented in the Galaxy Note 10 territory may have made the S10 territory feel somewhat obsolete, yet that won't be the situation for any longer. On September 23, Samsung will be porting some of the Note 10's best new highlights to the Galaxy S10 plus territory, including AR Doodle, Live Focus Video, the refreshed Samsung Dex work area mode, and that's only the tip of the iceberg.
First of all, I’ll give you key features on Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus
6.4’’ inches Dynamic Amoled punch hole full view display and 93.2% screen to body ratio.
There has superior chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon SDM855 7nm chipset
Octa-core 2.73Ghz *2 clockwise speed.
Internal storage can get in 128GB / 8GB RAM, 512GB / 8GB RAM, 1TB / 12GB RAM
Selfie camera 10 MP, (wide), Dual Pixel PDAF
8 MP, (wide), depth sensor
Main Camera 12 MP, f/1.5-2.4, 26mm (wide), 1/2.55", 1.4µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS
12 MP, f/2.4, 52mm (telephoto), 1/3.6", 1.0µm, AF, OIS, 2x optical zoom
16 MP, f/2.2, 12mm (ultrawide), 1.0µm, Super Steady video
AKG Dolby Atmos sound
Li-ion 4100 MAh battery with 15W fast charging
I got more compatibility with s10 plus except for S10
The S10 territory's as of now fit camera is certainly getting the greatest lift, with included highlights from the Note 10 including the Live Focus Video that foggy spots foundations around a subject, and the fiendish AR Doodle that gives you a chance to draw on faces in enlarged reality — but at the same time it's getting a Night Mode for the forward-looking camera, upgraded video adjustment, and the Note 10's video editorial manager.

There are reviews already, like this one:
I'm definitely interested in buying the Global Version since it seems it'll work a little better with T-Mobile USA. Hopefully it goes on sale soon. My OnePlus 7 Pro has served me well but it's time for an upgrade

I've considered it, but stuck between waiting for the Global variant and having everything work easily, and impulse buying the China version having to flash Xiaomi.eu and losing band 66 coverage. Also worried about having to deal with a janky China Rom while I wait 15 days to unlock the bootloader

I pulled the trigger on one from trading shenzen after reading that folks were using the Mi 10 Ultra China model on ATT last year with no problems. This has basically the same band support. I can always flash xiaomi.eu if I need to. can't wait to get the phone now.

Nice... Let's share our first impressions here.
I would order one from Trading Shenzen right now .
Only problem is that i dont know if i have to pay VAT or other customs fees when importing it . And the main doubt i got is regarding the network bands , 4G and 5G ones . Will this phone work in UK and european countries ? Thanks in advance , waiting a reply from someone who used Trading Shenzen before regarding VAT or extra customs fees .
Do i risk having no signal if i use it in Europe 4G or 5G ?
On the (Dutch) Tweakers forum in regards to ordering the Mi 11, someone stated:
Tip: select Global Priority as a shipping method, you pay a fraction more for the shipping, but you are guaranteed no extra bill for any import duties.
So I hope that will work as well for us with the Ultra, as global priority was selected automatic.
