The "my EE" app and Magisk hide - Magisk

Hi guys.
I have installed Magisk on my Xiaomi Mi6 and everything is OK, but...
The Magisk hide working fine with every app like a Google pay or my bank app, but is only one app which recognise root on the phone still. Its My EE, the app for managing the mobile provider EE account.
Any idea what happened?

Mine works absolutely fine with it being hidden by Magisk Hide. I have the option to unlock using fingerprints
Have you tried wiping it's data in case its remembered you had root?

Same for me, it was working fine until this morning. I tried clearing the My EE app data but still the same.

Same here. Working fine until the 1st feb, then all of a sudden the myee app is unhappy with my OS status.

If you hide magisk manger in magisk settings you should be able to log in.

Many thanks. That seems to have done the trick. I did.not realise that MM had that functionality. Thanks for your time!

I only discovered it this morning too

Nexus 6 - Large apps killing NFC...?

Hi all,
I have a strange issue with my Nexus 6. For background I am using 64GB model, sim unlocked, stock, not rooted, not OEM unlocked, v5.0.1.
I recently purchased the Nexus 6, restored my account and apps to it. So far so good. Next time I started up the phone, I noticed NFC had stopped working. Checking the Settings menu it had completely disappeared along with "Tap and Pay". I know they were there before but they had gone. I went back to the retailers who happily swapped it for another.
Nexus 6 #2 - EXACTLY the same thing happened. I could then only presume an app was somehow causing it. After uninstalling/installing loads of apps I finally figured it out - any "large" app being installed seems to kill NFC on reboot. I don't know exactly how "large" it needs to be but the offending apps are all over 1GB. Any one (I have three such apps) of those installed and NFC goes. Uninstall it, reboot and it's available again.
I can replicate it everytime and on two different devices. Can anyone else confirm/deny/test the above and advise? If it was a bug I would have thought there would be other reports but then >1GB apps are fairly unusual. I can also confirm it DOESN'T happen on my (unrooted, stock) Nexus 5 running v5.0.1.
Any thoughts or ideas greatlly appreciated
TIA!
Am I really he only person suffering from this on two different phones?

I have the CW 64 and i have a lot of games installed.
Some close to 4GB and my NFC works great, I pay with google wallet a lot.
My google play music is 15GB with the downloaded music from all access.
My guess is that one of your apps (possibly pre lollipop with no update ) are causing this.

Top man, you solved it! I was working on the assumption that a user installed app couldn't interfere with a system service like this!
I used an Application Permission app to see which of my apps had access to NFC, and there were a couple of old ones that I don't even use any more. Uninstalled them, restarted the phone and all working perfectly now

Which apps specifically??
---------- Post added at 01:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:11 AM ----------
I've only gone and fixed it!
IO don't know how or why, or which of these steps are unnecessary, but I will post EVERY step that I took, and the reason behind taking these steps was for the purpose of fixing secure fast unlock which seemed to be broken based on location, and I was attempting to fix it via bluetooth secure unlock, in the hope that fixing it via bluetooth would fix it via location too, and at the same time i was trying to figure out what was wrong with the NFC...
Settings, accessibility, turn all off (i had previously had pushbullet on, turn off_
install F secure app permissions, filter NFC, open every app that has NFC permissions
settings, security, smart lock, input pattern, trusted devices, add a newly paired bluetooth device (i used my laptop).
lock phone, unlock phone, to ensure that smart lock is working.
switch bluetooth off, lock, unlock to ensure that trusted location smart lock is working
settings, "more", turn aeroplane mode on. turn aeroplane mode off.
phone switched off, switched back on, askwd for pattern unlock before boot, upon boot NFC and android beam settings are restored in the "more" settings menu.
Please try it and confirm whether or not this is a valid fix

P20 pro Google pay doesn't work nothing happens

Hello
I did see a similar thread but I don't think it answers my issue. Basically nfc works to pair headphones etc. But when I try to use Google pay nothing happens when j touch the phone to a terminal. No sounds no vibrations. I installed Google play services beta, re installed Google pay and still nothing. My phone model is : CLT-L09 and this is in regards to the UK region with a UK card. Everything is installed properly.
Thank you
i know nfc payments work as i've used it numerous times, but you must have phone unlocked to make the payment
Thank you
I have tried with the phone unlocked - nothing happened still I am afraid. The phone does not even respond when touching a terminal.
I just tried using it with something else NFC as well and it worked just fine again - really curious why this is happening haha

No, no root. Safety net passes. Play store safety checked - it's funny, it just doesn't do anything when I put it to the terminal. Doesn't react at all. Everything else nfc works.

Settings, Device Connection, NFC, Default Payment App? Should say Google Pay
Other than that, clear the data and try again. Leave the Play beta program, go back to normal google services (uninstall updates). Factory reset as last resort. Don't know otherwise i'm afraid!

Yes, it's google pay. Uninstalled/Reinstalled. I just tried a wipe cache partition - but have no terminal to test it.
Should I factory reset, do you have a good backup/restore app suggestion so that I won't go through the hassle of removing bloat/adding my apps again?
Tons of thanks for the help.

I've always used Titanium Backup, but it needs root, most if not all of the similar apps do. Think Google Play does back up stuff for you automatically, but I've never really used it. Otherwise you can backup/restore via HiSuite on your PC, takes ages, but does work. I'd reset as last resort though, uninstall updates & clear data etc for all the google apps first...just in case!
Tried factory reset, still nothing
I had similar issue with the Barclaycard app and had to go through and disable all the power management settings for the app. Now it works fine.
Would also be worth trying to make a payment when the app is open.
Haven't tried Google Pay yet

THanks for that tip.
I tried that - still nothing
I would like to report my problem solved !
Someone suggested I ask Vodafone UK to give me a new sim card, and that the solution worked for him when facing the same problem.
I was very skeptical as to why or how a new SIM would allow payment services to work, but hey. It did? I was able to use Google Pay right after installing my new simcard.
In case anyone in the UK has this issue and they are using an old style NFC sim card, replacing it with a new non-NFC one may solve this issue. Thanks !
still have the same issue i cant seem to add my card anymore t set up but on my razer phone 2 its fine

EMUI 10 / Android 10, problem with Google Pay

Anyone else experienced problem with Google Pay after update?
It worked extremely well for me up until the update, then all of the sudden it doesn't work any more.
I checked the settings inside Google Pay, but all seems well. Card is registered and everything.
When holding my phone up to the terminal there is no reaction from the phone at all.
What can I do to fix this?
I have exactly the same, but with my normal banking app. It can also do payments via NFC, but when I hold it up to a terminal nothing happens like you said.
I'm now factory resetting my phone to see if that helps, I'll let you know!

Nope... Unfortunately not. Maybe I'll just downgrade to Android 9 and wait until a new patch for Android 10 comes out where they fix this.
No problems here, working as before

What firmware version are you on?
I've downgraded to Android 9.1 and the mobile payment is working perfectly again, so it's definitely an issue with Android 10. So if you really want to use it, you can downgrade for now. Otherwise just wait for the next Android update and hope that it gets fixed.
Same here in France, Google Pay says Phone moved too fast.
Can pay with one other bank's app, but not the other one's. (both Georgian banks)
They did warn in changelog that some banking apps are not working due to their compatibility issues with Android 10, though

True, that changed the way apps can use your IMEI and this was the way most banking apps verified your phone. But my banking app should be compatible with Android 10 and it is working for some people but not for others.

10.0.0.168. "normal" update. Not a member of the beta or anything, just normal OTA. Working exactly as on Android 9. Also tested/used with different cards/institutes in google pay. Working like a charm
Same problem here, Google Pay worked perfectly in 9.1. Now, with 10.0.0.173 there's no response when near terminal. No error messages anywhere. NFC works fine, e.g. ReadID to read the NFC chip in my passport.
The same here, but I have a mate 20 pro. After the update to Android 10 I can no longer pay with Google pay.
From Germany
Updated yesterday and works fine for me in UK
So i better stop an update i am asked to update to 173 and stay on my 168 It is working for sure on 168 for me. Used it quite often
I solved the problem on my P30 Pro. I was using a "twin SIM" card from Ice (service provider). When I switched sim cards to my main SIM, Google pay works as before. The twin SIM worked fine with Android 9. I think the problem is that the twin SIM does not have the real phone number, but some long code that the phone system somehow recognizes, but causes issues in some scenarios e.g. iMessage on iPhone which cannot verify it. That's why I had the twin SIM in my P30 Pro.
EDIT: The iMessage problem is caused by the fact that only the main SIM receives "class 0" or flash SMSs, used for iMessage's verification.
I'm having the issue with my UK region VOG-L29 that's running .173. I rarely use Google pay, so I'm not sure if it was working before the upgrade. Google Pay works fine on my Fossil Wear OS watch that's tethered to the phone. NFC also seems to work fine when connecting my camera to the phone.
Have also the problem of nfc payments (with gpay and postfinance app) not working after updating to Android 10. Full reset didn't help currently on version 10.0. 0.173 and still not working.
Huawei support doesn't know anything about this and said I should wait for app updates and/or emui update.not very helpful...
Uninstalling gpay and deleting the cards linked to it and setup everything from scratch didn't help either. Nfc hardware seems to work as I can trigger my bt connection with my nfc enabled headset.
Hopefully Huawei sorts this out quickly as it is very annoying since I used nfc payment almost every day on emui 9.1
Any solution for this problem? I also used the ohone to pay and the point is that it is a big inconvenience that there is no solution
Waiting for Huawei to fix the damn bug in their next update (hopefully). Downgrading or resetting and so on is a pain when the affected phone is your daily driver.
Been using GPay already multiple times with 10.0.173.
No problems here in germany.
Regards
Same here!
Updated yesterday to EMUI 10 and realized today that I could'nt pay at the terminal. Bad situation without credit cards
Seems like NFC does not work at all. When I try to read my credit cards with NFC Tools, there is no reaction from phone as before.

Halifax uk banking

Hi is anyone using the halifax uk banking app by any chance. Has it stopped working for you. Was working fine for a whole year and suddenly I just get sorry app launch failed. Even tho it works fine the first setup after that never works again..

Banking NCF stopped working with MIUI 12.0.3

I updated from 12.0.2 to 12.0.3 of MIUI recently and I now cannot pay by NFC with my banking app. My banking app doesn't use Google Pay and I don't have or want Google Pay so I can't try that.
I have checked that "Use HCE" wallet is set. Is there anythign I can do to get things working again?
Does no one have any suggestions on this at all?
@ludditefornow can you elaborate a bit what do you mean by "cannot pay by NFC" - what exactly happens when you place your phone near the terminal: is there any reaction (message) from the banking app or no reaction at all? Did you try to pay with the banking app open? Did you try disabling and re-enabling contactless payments in your banking app? In MIUI settings just below the option where you select "Use HCE" there's another option to select application for contactless payments - maybe the upgrade reset it to "Google Pay"?
I also have MIUI Global 12.0.3 (upgraded from 11.something) but didn't try paying by phone yet.
Thanks for the response. I have always paid with the banking app open. And have never had an issue.
Since 12.0.30 I have had two reactions from the 'pay wave' NFC payment terminals. Either they state that they can't read and throw up an error. or simply do nothing.
I have tried to disable and reenable contactless payments and no difference.
I have confirmed that Google Pay is not the default and that my banking app is. I have also confirmed that my banking app has NFC permissions.
I really have no idea. But I appreciate your reply.
For me (Global version) it's still working fine.
Never used my phone for contactless payments, so can't give specific advice, but a couple of simple questions to help troubleshoot.
Does NFC work at all? Can you communicate with other phones, e.g. can you send a photo to another phone using Nearby Share (or whatever name NFC sharing might be called on MIUI, if it's not the same)
How did you update MIUI? OTA or manually? If manually, did you flash the correct ROM? Because Indian MIUI versions don't have NFC functionality, as the physical device is missing on Indian phones.

Thanks,
three different NFC checking apps return positive to NFC and HCE. There is no Android Beam and as far as I recall there never has been.
Updates always OTA. And the current ROM is global as is my phone.
I've completely uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and then added the card again. I will check it today and see the result.
Thanks for the assistance all.
Yesterday I paid successfully with my phone (as I mentioned - MIUI Global 12.0.3 upgraded from 11.something).
Interesting outcome (for me anyway).
After removing the credit card from the app and then deleting the app, I then reinstalled the app and added the card. This led to the NFC HCE function again working.
Another symptom that appeared at the same time on the update was that I could turn on airplane mode at the icon on the pull down draw on the home screen. I couldn't turn off the airplane mode in the same way. To turn off airplane mode I needed to do so with the slider in settings.
After HCE function started working again, my airplane mode on / off functionality came back as well.
I am just writing this here in case someone at sometime gets something similar and may have another option to try to repair it.
