hey, i recently fell in love with this widget but now, upon installing a new ROM, i am unable to find it in the market, has it been removed? and, if so, can someone post the apk so i can install it please?
thankyou in advance
Yantrio
It doesn't show up for me when I search for 'twidget', but if I search for 'twitter' it is there.
i am still unable to see this in the market, can anyone pull the apk?
I think it's spelled "Twidgit" and the full program name is "Twidgit Lite (Twitter Widget)"
I liked this app but it force closed on me waaay to much to use.
Maybe a dumb question, but I haven't seen a thread dedicated to this, but....
I'm tired of missing apps in the market. How do you side load apps? IS everyone using "Sideload Wonder Machine" from Android Central?
And where do you download the apk files from. Androidzoom only emails you a link to the Market which then can't find the app, SlideME has only half the market apps, same with Handango and Pocketgear. And Phandroid just simply sucks.
Do apps that require a GPS fix simply not install on our G Tabs? That would eliminate A LOT of freakin apps in one shot.
Can anyone offer a little help?
Specifically, I can't find Sunmoon, Living in the sun, Heavens Above, and Predisat. These are all sun and moon phase apps and a few satelite tracking apps. I know, silly and geeky, but I get a kick out of watching the International Space Station fly by at 2am.
Thanks, and thanks for not laughing too hard.

I have a Droid X phone and most apps show for me in the Market. I usually download them on my phone and then using Root Explorer I find the apk or zip file in the app/data folder and copy them over to my DropBox folder (all on the phone).
Then I use Dropbox on my gTab to save them to a directory on my gTab and simply install them that way.
You should really look into getting a DropBox account (free).
Here are the files you were looking for. I've attached them since they are FREE so I hopefully won't be violating any rules. If I am someone please let me know.
Oh my god you are the greatest, for explaining it, and for posting the links for me. Very cool of you.

This is the same procedure I use.
Really cool to post them for him!
I thought it was a great question, one that I was wondering the answer to as well. If you don't own an Android phone (yet), then is there a quick tutorial on getting the files onto the gtab? Also, Is it legit to post apk files ready for download? I see it done quite often. If so I wouldn't mind seeing a dedicated thread for new apps people find with the file posted ready for download. The Notion Ink apk's were downloadable straight to the gtab which was great.

I think it depends on the apps. I believe if they are free versions then it is okay.

Here's a quick and dirty Google search for APK files.
Warning, some may be older and out of date, but with this, there's always something new to play around with. LOL

One way is go to USER CP (top bar on forum screen) and edit your signature to add devices or whatever else you want to say in the signature box. May be another way, not sure.

Thanks, I never saw that USER CP before. I've looked over at my profile settings over and over.

sjmoreno - I want to thank you so much.
I could find it everywhere but I could not find the apk to side load. No matter what build [TNT or Vegan] it would not find it in the market or whether in AppBrain it would not let me download it directly to my gtablet
Thanks again! - Awesome!

SuperBowl Apps
Now that we have the Android Market it seems to make it even harder for those who don't have an alternative android device to load apps as it states they are not for my device.
Anyone have the Super Bowl XLV app to sideload for the gtablet?

I have loads of apk files I was able to find, but I don't know what the phrase (above) simply install them that way, means. Do I double click on it? Once I have an apk file on my gtablet, what do I do with it to simply install it?
Help appreciated.
Bob
And yes, I'm new to this.

Once it's on your gTab you simply select it in any file explorer you're using and it will launch the installer and begin installation for you.
Does anybody know where I can get the break.com apk? I can't find it anywhere and it won't load from the market on the Xoom. I figured I'd give a shot to see what it looked like.

Yep, it actually works really well on xoom. I have compatibility mode disabled in spare parts so I'm not sure if that's why. It is a bit annoying that it won't stay in landscape the whole time between browsing and watching videos. I had to pull the apk from my droid. Eh, anyway here you go: http://www.multiupload.com/H29RWS6IMI
I googled this forum, but, maybe I'm missing something, or, simply, there is not yet a thread about it?
Can you suggest me a car dashboard /launcher app to use? :highfive: TY
EDIT: I finally installed Car Home from Google Inc. > http://blog.brianmoses.net/2012/10/manually-installing-googles-car-home-app.html. But I'm still open to suggestions.
Hi folks. Just got a New Kindle Fire HD (The kid won it) It says 4th generation 7 inch Fire HD/ In settings there is no Device info menu. I was able to unlock the developer mode. When I click on update version it says is 4.1.1 (Latest) Can't figure out much more than this about the device. The serial number is also not helpful. Is it possible to root this and/or install TWRP/CWM?

I too did some digging and so far as I can tell no one has figured out how to root these new ones. Do not try any of the older generation hacks I'm not sure if the exploit was fixed in this bootloader or if it still exists but if you mess it up you might have a shiny paperweight.

Any progress on rooting 2014 model?
I have just got one of these new 2014 models and would be interested to see if anyone manages to root them although so far using ES File Explorer and a change of the app security settings I have managed to install my own apk backups ok at least!
I'm glad i'm not the only one needing root for my 4th gen. It's my first kindle; thought I was getting a 3rd gen, Officemax gave me the 4th gen at the $80 price tag... I just need access to Google Play/Services and AdAway.
I haven't found any apps I need that aren't in the Amazon store but for those you can't find then install ES File Explorer then grab the app file from a networked PC or even just copy the app to your Kindle and install it. Not used AdAdawy but looks like there is a link to the APK here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190753 so you should be able to install that easy?
I can install the application, but for it to function properly AdAway requires Superuser access
Ah ok. Just followed this to get Gmail & YouTube installed: http://www.gizmag.com/how-to-install-google-apps-kindle-fire-hd-hdx/30736/
Wow - thanks for that!! Now I can at least get google play on here.
Now we wait for root. I just hope there's enough interest for someone to take the time and do it.
Just an update - tried to install Google play via that method, and the play app isn't able to connect to the google server.
Might be something small, but I've run through the instructions exactly 3x.
Seems like root is required. Hopefully won't be too long of a wait
You guys are all in the wrong forum. The forum you are looking for is the "Fire HD 6 & 7" forum. Amazon decided to drop the Kindle name from the 4th generations. That is pretty much the only main difference (aside from all the exploits being patched) between the 2nd and 4th generations. The 3rd generation Fires (the HDXs) are way more powerful that both the 2nd generation and the 4th.
Those files from that blog post worked fine for me to allow Gmail, Play Music, Chrome and YouTube to be installed from the apk files also linked in that post and all are working fine on my Kindle Fire HD 2014 except the rare YouTube user error.

I ran through it a couple more times, and cannot get the play store to load properly. Gmail worked fine, but the play store won't connect, and gives the bank screen/tap to reload button.
Rooting
Yep, so far as I can tell it's not possible to root these and it may never be. They've locked the bootloader up. It would have to be some sort of exploit on the bootloader to crack these open. That being said you can, as other's have posted, install anything that DOESN'T require root, APK's. The reason that the store won't load is that it requires root to run, unfortunately. So no Play store, though you can install other Google/Play apps that aren't on the Amazon store. Also if you're that crafty you can grab the APK from another device and manually install it on the Fire.
I'm disappointed because all the stuff I read was apparently for the very early versions (1st Gen) that it was much easier to root. Newer ones will be much harder, though not impossible.
I only want another Launcher to work properly. They install fine but everytime I hit the home button I need to choose the default again. Very annoying.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I have a 4th gen Fire HD 7 and have installed Go Launcher, which works fine but, like you, whenever I hit the home button I have to choose the default again. I have searched for hours and hours trying to finding a solution but haven't got anywhere
Does anyone know whether it can be done? Thanks
Fingers crossed...

Hi
Thanks for the reply - appreciate it.
Have just tried Twisted Home but still doesn't work - even though according to that app, it is set as default.
For some reason, the tick box that appears in all previous versions of the Fire (saying you want to use this app everytime - i.e set the default) - just doesn't come up.
There must be a way to do it? SO frustrating
Thanks
Again, you guys are all in the wrong section. I advise you visit the forums for the "Fire HD" (Amazon dropped the Kindle name) instead, as someone might actually be able to help you there.
