Hey guys ive been looking around a lot. i'm new to the emui side of android and its recovery etc. So if I were to flash a treble rom, how would i go about going back to stock emui? I've seen many people talking about bricking their device so I decided to play it safe, please go easy on me.
I read that as long as you have stock recovery, you can go back to EMUI. but what is the process? and also, can i flash twrp when using a rom; and when I want to go back to EMUI flash stock recovery?
Thanks in advance guys.

Okay. So, I've just acquired a Galaxy Tab off eBay. It's on it's way to me, so I thought I'd burn up a few cycles and go download some goods for flashing as soon as I get it.
The setup: ROM version is Gingerbread. Assume Stock ROM. Model is P1000 (Unlocked GSM).
The question is this. I am completely confused as to what I need to do, and I'd like someone to point me in the right direction. With other devices, I would just root, install custom recovery and voila. Non-stock device. Does this same rule apply with the Galaxy Tab, or is it a new ball game?
Basically, what is the easiest way of getting a custom ROM onto my Galaxy Tab? Do I need to use ODIN and co? Or can I do it all via recovery? Is there any n00b guides that explain installing your first ROM?
I don't want to jump through hurdles that I could have avoided. So, that's why I'm asking you for help. Put me out of my confusion, get a +1 thanks in return. Sounds good, no?
Thanks again. Your help is appreciated.
good day sir.
basically is the same with otherdevices,
root it, install clockworkmod, download and install roms
you will need to flash via odin first because stock rom of gtp1000 have limited options in the recovery mode.
after that, all flashings can be done vie clockworkmod recevery... for your convenience search for these ff. keywords:
overcome kernel
overcome rom
zergrush
cm9 rom
humberos.
no need for thanks buton, i just want to ask you to refrain posting posts in the development forums if you think your post will not contribute to the development, too many assholes there beating each other up and flooding the forum of bullshits.
thanks.
Alright, thanks for the explanation, I appreciate it! Seems to be making sense now...
So, basically, with any ROM I flash, I must use ODIN to flash the kernel? Or will the ROM take care of that? I heard the kernel is mixed in with the recovery system, so I'm a little unsure as to what the go is.
no u just need o flash a kernel with clockworkmod recovery and all succeding flashings be it rom, kernel or anything else canbe done using clockworkmod recovery. of course there are exceptions if the developer specifically requires u to flash via odin
You should follow the Overcome Guide for your first flash, it is comprehensive and easy peasy, lemon squeezy
There are some pics missing in the linked page, I have a cached copy from google that you can refer to also.

Make back up or the original or current rom
I would like to flash my tab with a custom rom, but I also want to be able to revert or go back to the original rom. My question is how you back up your current or original rom so you could restore it back to its original condition? CMIIW but Titanium back up only back up the apps and stuffs but not the rom, or is it?

Please do not hijack my thread. You should make another thread for that - and that's what CWM is used for - making backups!
Hi there!
First of all, yes, I'm completely new to modding Android phones. Not so new to modding in general though, which makes me question why I made such a nooby mistake... but alas, I now have to ask what many might think to be a nooby question in order to fix said mistake.
Just as the title said, I accidentally installed CWM before flashing my phone, and am now unable to launch into Recovery Mode. I know that there's a way to get it revert it to stock recovery, but as far as I've been able to tell, there's no way to do that without going into the Recovery menu in the first place. Does anybody have an idea what I can do?
My phone can still launch to the firmware (stock firmware, but am planning on installing Cyanogenmod 11), so for now I'm alright but considering the OTHER problems I'm having with the stock firmware, I'd really like a way to get back to my installation ASAP. If I can't, I'll get to my problems with the stock FW later...

We continue in the other thread
So I have been looking around in the Development forum and there are so many ROM options out there now. I have been on CM 12 nightlies for so long now I am out of the loop on stock builds and all. I am looking to just go back to a completely stock build (with root). Can anyone point me in the right direction for the files I need?
I have a Google Store bought N6 and I am currently on Verizons network.
Thanks!
EDIT: I would also like to be on the latest (and greatest) build.

sure.. https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en
the only way back to stock isnt by flashing roms via twrp, its by flashing a factory image. on top of that, this is a basic element that you HAVE TO learn before ever rooting your phone.

Okay... I guess that makes sense, and to obtain root I would simply flash the SuperSU.zip from Recovery after I have completed the factory image restore? Do I need to re-flash Recovery?

after, you would need to flash twrp recovery, then flash supersu from twrp. so yes.
but, if you really dont have to, dont relock your bootloader

Right, no re-lock, so, I have, 1) Flash Factory Image 2) Flash TWRP 3) Flash SuperSU = Back to Stock (Rooted). Got it, thanks again.
What SImms said
We have a lot of people in panic state over trying to relock their bootloader, and to further emphasize what Simms said, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RELOCK BOOTLOADER, there are specific procedures to do that but locking it just isn't necessary
Hi. Sometime ago I installed a custom ROM, but I want to go to stock, preferably the latest. I honestly do not understand what EMUI is or how I can recover. I tried it once and got in a bootloop. Could someone sketch out the path for me to take? I have no problems finding the required files or topics but really need the general steps for this process.
Many thanks.

Search on P9 ROMs section for HWOTA7
Or older/simpler HWOTA - you will find instructions in Magic Rainbow v4 (also P9 ROMs section) - MR v3/v4 had clear instructuns how to go back to stock, applicable also to other P9 Nougat custom ROMs
Of course assuming that you don't want to go from Chinese Oreo back to Nougat - then the procedure is different but it is also clearly described in the corresponding HWOTA7 thread OP instructuns
