Ok guys need someone to guide me here. A friend of mine has a Note 9 from Verizon. The imei shows as 15 zeroes!. He was messing with the phone and factory binary to flash from verizon U to U1 to TMB rom, wish he accomplished but now the imei its all zeros, searching online found hardware boxes and things like that that will help you repair the imei but octupus box witch its the one we were looking at dosnt support imei repair of note 9
Then we found the software used by imeigurus that actually have a section for verizon phones that states : cert write IGST method
I think that by having a certification file for note 9 we can write the file using this program and get a new imei , buuuuuut , I found something about cert files not supporting CPID phones witch its the case of the Note 9, so at this point have no idea how to get new imei , any help will be appreciated , phone's out of waranty !

Your "friend" should be able to get the IMEI from their Verizon account information, or, perhaps, on the box that it came with.
Please don't go to the laundry list of excuses that your "friend" has as to why they cannot get the IMEI.
If Verizon cannot help, contact Samsung.
Also, there may be other ways to retrieve the IMEI, use the search function here @ XDA. If there's a legitimate way to retrieve the original IMEI, it'll be here somewhere @ XDA.
Changing the IMEI is frowned upon here & at every other reputable site.
Sent from my SM-N960U using XDA Labs
From what I understand, flashing the old "U" firmware might restore the IMEI number.
This phone is about 3 - 4 months old, since most warranties last at least a year this is a bit short to say it's out of warranty.

check the back of the phone...
This kind of discussion about changing imei is not allowed on XDA Forums. If you have a backup file you can use search button on XDA to restore it, if dont, you have to contact your mobile company.

Hey, i messed up my efs files awhile back when froyo was first getting leaked onto I9000 and flashed to my samsung captivate. So i have the generic fake samsung EMEI code of 004999010640000 so that i can use the AT&T network. I never made any back up of efs files and i recently tried to restore my emei using the two methods in android development but still no luck getting my original IMEI. I need get a warranty exchange through samsung due to search button randomly engages on its own and am worried that samsung will see that the EMEI code is different and try to void my warranty since it would be evidence that i messed with the software. I have my original box so i know my original IMEI code so is there a way to manually enter my code or any other way to restore my EMEI. Or do u think samsung would even notice anything with the android software?
Fix IMEI
OP, ODIN3 One-Click Master Clear will get it all back 4 U. I just posted on another thread about this same issue. I went through hell trying anything I could find, was ready to go to AT&T for a swap out. I gave ODIN3 One-Click Master Clear a try and it did it for me. So give this a try, you'll kiss your phone after You done
Just flashed back to stock and turn in your phone. Don't think the warranty dept are gonna be that anal for the exchange.
If they have questions on the IMEI number, tell them all you did was the kies update to JH7.
You shouldn't have any problems. It's been done before
edit: Btw, make sure you have JH7 installed
People assume that the rep at at&t has any clue what they are looking at.
Put a sticky note that says "phone" on it before you pack it up so the AT&T people will know what it is.
lol ok ill be sure to do that when i exchange it. But ill be dealing with samsung warranty on this one. I tried AT&T when my imei got messed up the first time, and i needed an network unlock code to use my captivate that didnt exsist and they wouldnt exchange me phones cause i was past 30 day return by 2 weeks, assholes.
If i do the master clear with odin will all the at&t network settings be erased and have to input them manually? Hopefully i can find the settings online if thats the case. A smart phone with no network is an expensive paper weight, lol.
Are you not able to get on the ATT network with the generic IMEI number? I have the generic IMEI number running on my phone now with it ending 40000 and I'm having no trouble getting on the the ATT network.
Edit: I do have a backup of my efs with the correct IMEI number too, just lazy sometimes on restoring the original efs. Just make sure your product code is correct and you should be able to update through kies to get back to JH7.
Hi everybody, my brother gave a gift i9305 from UK, I'm living in Turkey and I dont want to pay any taxes to the goverment, and i want to copy my old phone's imei to the i9305 ( If citizens bought device out of Turkey, we have to pay taxes for IMEI register and have to proof with my passport)
I have I9305 EVR. I did NV Backup from EFS pro and software did it successfuly but when i tried to connect the phone again via qualcomm tools ı get error, "SPC was rejected by the phone". (SPC 000000)
Is it possible to delete/change SPC code by EFSpro after NV backup
On the otherhand when i untick "sent spc", Efspro can connect and read from phone ( gives "Error SPC not found" but when i click ok software continue reading) out of ESN and MEID.
ESN and MEID is null, but IMEI is correct.
Is it possible to fix or learn SPC code. I installed supersu busybox,,I9305 Cwm Recovery, Stock kernel and Stock rom
Also i tried other softwares such as VDS, QPST, CMDA workshop even UNICMDA and MLS,,,not working, not working...
Do you have any opinion for this situation? Today will be my forth sleepless night.
By the way i restored from NVbackups but problem not solved,I'm wondering Is it possible to restore backups correctly while SPC code not working ?
Is it possible to change SPC code by manufacturer / dealer from internet, there is no sim inside phone but Wi-fi connection available and i used google play from this phone.
Thank you for your answers, solutions.
Copying IMEI between phones is illegal and a forbidden subject on XDA.

I did something really stupid and ended up with a bad flash on my NOTE 9 - the result is that I no onger have an IMEI number on my phone - no data at all - no mobile data.
I know what my IMEI Number is from my GOOGLE account - but I don't know how I can fix my phone to get the IMEI number back into the phone.
Any suggestions are grealy appreciated.
I did a google search which had a few suggested ways using the dialer - but when I attempt to do that, nothing happens - I don't get any result from the dialer codes online.
Your help is greatly appreciated
Find the latest software for your phone and install it with Odin. Or emergency software recovery with Smart Switch.

For the benefit of others (to hopefully not make a similar misstep) what did you do to create this issue? Flash a ROM from another region, carrier, etc.? I understand if you prefer not to share... thanks for the consideration.

There was a rom in the Custom Roms section that looked like it was meant for our phones - I think it was the WETA ROM - I didn't read the oP very carefully - totally my fault - it was not intended for the N960F - (but that was not really that clear when I first read the OP - or at least I lverlooked it. i will be much more careful next time. - it damn near bricked my phone.
I tried flashing full firmware in ODIN to fix it -no good - the flashes failed. - I tried restoring Nandroids - they restored fine but IMEI was still missing.
The fix I found eventually was to flash the DEV BASE Firmware that was recently added to the Roms section - flashing that fixed my issues and I am now back and working properly. I tried more fixes than I can count - and all of them failed - I was close to thinking I might have to buy a new phone. Dr Ketan suggested I flash the Dev Base sortware and he was absolultely correct. It worked.

Glad to know you're good to go... i just received my Dual Sim Note 9 today and got it setup to work with ATT using an ATT CSC and used it for 20 minutes. Popped my T-Mobile SIM in the phone and blam! got an invalid SIM card message followed by a SIM network PIN blocked. Enter SIM network PUK message. Got PUK unlock codes from ATT and T-Mobile and they did not work. off to do more research....

I was able to get around the PUK code through a master reset. Go figure.
There's a thread in the forums that talks about copying your carrier's CSC to your phone and then making the necessary changes to four files in the /efs/imei folder. It's not hard, but you got to be very careful. Instructions are in the thread mentioned above. I have LTE/HD Voice access during phone calls, but I have not been able to get Wi-Fi calling to work because the IMS service FC's when launching.
I suspect it may have something to do with using a dual-sim phone. I have both my AT&T and T-Mobile SIM in the phone, and I'm loving using one phone for business and personal calls. I also have Google Voice and I can use that for Wifi calling if necessary. As a final note, to get access to AT&T enhanced services on a non AT&T phone, you have to use an IMEI number from an AT&T phone that supports its enhanced services. In my case I've been using the IMEI number from my three-year-old Samsung S6 active. I called support told rep that I was using my S6 active while waiting on a new phone and they associated the IMEI number with my cell number.

I have an IMEI number from a Note 9 that was an aTT Phone - I had purchased the snapdragon varient at Best buy and then returned it when I got the N960F . I copied the IMEI number before I turned it in - I suppose I could use that. Can you offer a link to the thread you are referring to?
thanks for the tip my friend.

Could you please provide a link to this dev base firmware? Did you need to have twrp and root before installing the dev base?

you do need to have TWRP installed in order to flash
hope that helps
still need help

Hello
I recently lost my s10 and now got my hands on a new one (exact same model)
I thought i was smart and restored a TWRP backup from the lost phone on the new one
I guess the mistake was that there was also the efs partition included in the backup
The rom (newest beyond) works without problems but the sim card is not recognized and baseband and IMEI both show unknown
so i flashed the original samsung firmware with odin but even then i have baseband and IMEI unknown
Did i just screw my new s10 or does anyone have an idea?
any help much appreciated
Anyone has an idea what I could try?
Or did I really kill my phone for good
My guess is that you may have wiped out the new phone specifics, such as IMEI and other things. I'm not sure if you can recover that in some way, or if you need to just find a way to get your old IMEI back. I would probably try to restore my old IMEI if I can (see if you can identify the old one from your carrier's website or something, for example).

I know the original imei, it's printed on the phone but how could i flash that to my phone? Seems to be impossible
There are ways, but they are not allowed to be discussed here on XDA. I've seen Youtube videos that cover it as well.
Hi, im kinda desperate cause i really dont know what to do , here is my issue:
I bought a second hand s20fe i didnt know but its rooted and i want to remove it
The problem is that i tried booting it to download mode removing the root and trying to flash a original samsung stock firmware from odin, but it keep getting a error. Well i realized that the phone original model is SM G780G
And that the software that it had , was the SM G780F
So i downloaded a software for the G780F and apparently it worked with odin
But i want the original G780G software... what can i do?

I'm pretty sure your problem is:
you want to install a system with wrong binary.
Go into download mode and see what binary you have.
After you are sure which binary has downloaded the system you need and that's it.
if you have binary 3
upgrade to binary 3
If you can show a photo of what binary you have to observe.

I would like to tell you the full problem tho if you are so kind to give me a hand. I bought the s20fe second hand and it was rooted with a patched imei (the box and the software imei didnt match), i checked both imei and they are not blocked , so the phone isnt stolen. But here is the thing, the model in the box says 780G, and this software is 780F, the soft and the imei doesnt match. I tried rooting and unrooting, but now i dont have signal and i still have the same imei and software version, i would like to switch to the original imei cause im sure im able to use it , as well i would like to install the proper software version.

the equipment is not G780G.
1.G780G goes up to binary 4
2.G781B arrives
up to binary 5
3.G781U /U1 /V / N / W . go up to binary A(10)
4.G780F reaches binary A(10)
your equipment is a G780F and not a G780G. You can never load a system from another team, only from your variant.
Download an example system:
G780FXXUAFWB6
Currently there is the binary B(11).
luck.
unfortunately
it was advisable to leave it as it was when buying it.
if everything worked fine, there was no need to update.
just leave it with the system that was already installed.
since to change the imei, chimeratools, z3x is used. etc
They are paid applications and experience is required for it.
I used the z3x, that's why I'm telling you.
I dont understand, cause the model is in the back of the phone...

It didnt worked fine tho, i had a very low signal, now that i made a mess of course i would love to be back, but i dont know how to install a signal patch and i doubt that samsung would help me if im out of warranty, so i basically lost half of my saves on a phone that i can barely use now... what a luck

Personally, it is impossible to install an exynos system on a snapdragon.
It's like putting the engine from one car to another, just like that.
the cover says one thing, your phone another.
the caps are interchangeable.
Those can be put from an s20 fe exynos to a snapdragon.
check well.
personally you have a G780F.
try not to upload to binary B(11)
you will have to pay to solve the problem.
install software that it had initially, if the system was binary 9, it will be impossible.

the interchangeable cap make sense and also solve the imei trouble, i will choose to believe in your experience. But logically, then the email should be the one that is on the software right? and not in the cap? i already installed that version you told me, but how can i restore the signal? i just need to restore that and i will be able to sleep cause ive been awake almost 10 hours trying to figure out this mess
I really don't know if you can fix it.
I think your equipment was only rooted. The signal always worked.
I never touched the imei of your equipment.
It may even be that you are presenting a software error. once going to binary B. you will not be able to return to binary A.
if the problem does not recover without any update. It could be a problem with the internal antennas.
that they are disconnected.
I realized the problem, the case was switched indeed. And the original imei was changed because it was blocked. Since i update to the most recent binary and there is no chance to downgrade that, i wont be able to use sim cards anymore or at least until there is a new versión for patching the signal. I dont know which program the technicians use so i dont know if im ever going to recover the phone. An awful purchase and a even better movement from my part trying to update the android and removing the root. Im just disappointed, i hope this thread helps someone to not make the same mistakes...
At this point i dont even mind to pay for a signal patch, but there isnt a update for the system they use to do it. If someone knows anything about it, would be pretty helpful.
I understand what you're saying:
As a technician I understand.
Always before making changes, you have to know what we are getting into.
If you already knew that the imei was repaired and patched, for nothing in the world to update.
as advice, do not upgrade to binary B
stay in binary A.
The solution will come out, it always comes out for computers with an unlockable bootloader.
stay on february patch one ui 5.1 with binary A.
The rest are security updates.
Before listening to me, check that the system does not contain bugs.
in the best of cases, repair and sell, buy a G780G or G781B
luck.
