I was looking for the option to turn it on today but did not find it in the Battery section which is where it was on every Youtube video I saw. However I downloaded Antutu and got 310k score. I guess they removed the option to turn it on or off and left if on by default. The score I saw online were around 303k with pre production models.
hmmm...... keeping an eye on this thread with interest. great post.
I have seen that setting but I don't remember where.
I'm looking for it right now.
I'll let you know where to find it once I find it again.
But I know that it is there.
PS: Found it. For me, it's in settings> battery.
My device is from Vodafone Germany.
This coming with new firmware, I have no video effects I thinks this coming soon

I don't think that it's turned on by default.
It's not supposed to operate in that mode at all, let alone all the time.
Remember, it was only added because Huawei was caught cheating.

If its not turned on how do you think Im getting 310k in antutu. Mate 20 Pro in Youtube gets around 303k with performance mode ON. Otherwise it gets around 280k.
I've received mine unlocked from the Carphonewarehouse. I too don't have the option and have scored 303500 on Antutu with my battery at 65%
I have build 113 and can turn performance mode on. I also have the video AI effects and other stuff. As stated above, there is a new firmware coming any day now .

I'm actually wondering if this is what they are accused of with cheating. That is, that AI is recognising and putting the device into Performance Mode automatically when it recognises a benchmark test happening?

Do you have a pre-release phone? I have a feeling the ones they are shipping were manufactured and boxed before 113 was ready and most will not see that version and be updated to 122 that is being talked about.
This is mine score

Here you go, I made a quick video for Antutu X Benchmark between both devices ( Snap and Exynos )
Lets guess which device ( which CPU ) on left and right while watching this clip and then you have your answer.
Video was captured with an iphone 5 ( YEAH I know, Samsung is gonna be p*ssed LOL ).
Enjoy!
That answers my question somewhat, so the 5422 has a slight edge on the first benchmark, yet lost the second ,making it 1 to 1, but the s801 finished the test first on both testes.

Interesting... in Barcelona Samsung announced that the 5422 will support Heterogeneous Multi Processing allowing all 8 cores to run if necessary. The Note 3 Neo's 5260 can run all 6, so the S5 5422 may need an update, or benchmark tools need it, what do you think, @AndreiLux?

I got a chance to played with it for half a day but its damn hot while running bench. not so sure if it ran with all eight cores at once. Gotta check again 2mo. But imo, the Exynos is very smooth. But the camera on Exynos version is not so good. Dont know why Even i took a few shots and compare with the LG G2, the G2 beats it with much better quality

Right now honestly HMP seems a bit far-fetched. Most app developers don't even use more than 1 thread for their apps. Waste of battery imo.

The point of HMP is load balancing between the cores. It still has advantages even in low threaded apps. The cores are powered off when not doing anything.

It depends on nothing specifically. If load is sufficiently high and threaded it'll use all 8.
I think Antutu is finishing the tests slower than the Snapdragon because it's dispatching twice the threads and doing twice the work, it would score higher if it actually didn't do that.
And no I'm not getting it, the S5 will be outdated in a few months.

Depends on the thermal throttling settings between the two, Samsung changed the limits several times on both versions of the S4 so expect the same to happen here.

So, I recently downloaded Android Oreo.
I did a factory reset and took screenshots of my battery activity today. I only had 2.5 hours of screen time (I keep my brightness at about 15% - 20%) and I barely used my phone while in my office.
I would like to keep Android System from running in the background, but when I turn it off, I find it back on following a phone restart...?
I have also found that none of my cache cleaners work anymore. Why is that?
Does this battery life look bad? I used to get better battery life.
2.5 hours with 50% left. Seems average.
I agree, about average. I haven't ran Oreo much, not more than a couple of days at a time & I don't have any screenshots but for me Oreo is worse in performance. Well statistically, with real world use I can't tell much of a difference.
So far I still like Nougat. I know I'm stating the obvious but everyone's usage & SOT will be different so some may say your stats are good, others may say not so good.
This is a typical weekday for me on Nougat. But I'm running a custom kernel & custom rom, no bloat & not a huge amount of apps installed. Display brightness 40% on average, display always set to max res. I First pair is today.
Now you got me curious, I should go back to Oreo & test. EDIT: Ok, I'm going back to Oreo right after this edit. I'll see how it does tomorrow.
Since Oreo update, I chose my word specifically , instead of upgrade. It appears standby idle battery is slightly improved.

So here's a typical weekday stat for me from today on Oreo. Took a hit in battery performance. But that's only 1 day of testing so not a fair comparison to my Nougat stat. Although I'm not a benchmark freak, benchmark results are pretty much the same if I use the appropiate kernel versions from the same dev.
Still not a fan of O although there are a few cool features, going back to N until all the compatibilites get worked out (getting closer though).

People will usually say, so I'll say it before, a clean install with a major change like N to O is usually recommended and I agree as most of the time it can take care of issues like this. But a clean install did not make a difference for me. Glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Ah, that don't do me any good, I'm not the type to upgrade every year, not much of an upgrade anyway or worth it IMO. I'll wait for the Note 10, I think very good things will come for number 10. Hopefully a new custom kernel will fix it but until then, back to Nougat for me.
It seems to me since upgrading to O. My battery life seems poor. Dont know what they changed. O performs better on the pixel 2. Maybe I'm missing something. Who really knows.

Wow! I was eagerly expecting the oreo OTA, I even put a thread about oreo OTA experiences/opinions, but its a huge mixed bag, some say oreo improves fluency, other that have screen tint, batt drain, that no significant apparent changes, others that is snappier, etc, I have not rooted or pushed oreo firms, as I want to be very careful, because my 950F performs really very, very good, I am at a loss as of what to do when the OTA pops in my device, I am even considering to block it via bk

It has the above mentioned however unless you're rooted you still can't turn off swap storage so performance compared to other devices is still not as good.
If you're rooted then you'll see relatively decent performance.
Non rooted, it's awful.
Mine works as expected, with a score of 282000 in atuntu v8

Benchmarks mean very little mate, you should know that..
Compare how this runs the dolphin emulator: swap storage off compared to on, it's a night and day difference..
Zelda drops 10fps easily and more in dense areas..
Even the OS is smoother, no lag between Google feed and the homepage on lawn chair..
I wish it wasn't true but it is.
Hey guys!
How is all your battery life?
Mine is currently going pretty bad..
My phone is like 11 months old now and my battery life has gone from 48+ hours to like 13 max now..
I dont use my phone that much but the battery has become terrible if I think about how it was!
Is there any warranty on batteries?
I'm also on the same boat, since the last update. I don't know if it has something to do with it. Let's wait for emui 9.1 it appears to be very good on the mate 20 pro in terms of battery.
You can replace your battery for free if you warranty

I don't know what the problem is. I deleted Facebook and Chrome because Facebook drains pretty hard but that's not the problem I guess..

You have to consider outside temperatures aswell. It is summer in the end, if you spent time outside a lot than it is normal for battery to drain faster since it is so hot outside.

My P20 Pro's battery varies from day to day mainly depending if i'm on Wifi or not.
Do you guys leave all your apps open or close them when you are done?
Only reason I ask is Twitter and Snapchat seem to constantly run in the background if I leave them open.
Many apps stay open in the background, the most obvious being the social media and messenger apps. No backgrond=no notifications.
Haven't bothered to clean memory since I've had phones with more than 1gb of ram. The P20 Pro, in particular also has a big battery and almost always lasts me a day, so no worries. Charges really fast too
1) Ever since 1.15US update, the performance is 94% of other Snapdragon 855 phones. In two benchmarks I tried - Antutu, 3Dmark. This is a consistent result from multiple users and the benchmark compare stats.
2) The bluetooth volume keeps resetting to default (low) every time the phone is connected to the BT device, automatically. Why doesn't the phone remember the bt volume setting?

Probably not. They still have to sell these things until the 855+ one comes out. It's more than likely a mistake done purely to the NA/global version. No reports on the more updated Chinese version.
