So, I got this with the "Android One" or whatever that is. I was looking for this phone to have the MIUI 9/10 to it. However, I have the phone with Android 8 instead... UGH!
1) Is there a way to NOT root the phone and get the MIUI?
or
2) Is there a way to get dual Pokemon Go to play at the same time.
Don't have the phone yet, but maybe you could do that with Island (on xda) or apps like Parallel Space on Play Store.

Don't know what Island is. I'll check it soon.
Parallel Space doesn't let me play both sessions at the same time, for one. 2, the other session of Pokemon Go, it doesn't let me log in to my other Google username where my other Go is attached to. So, Parallel Space is out of the option for me.
Better use island by oasis feng (the one who make greenify). It's utilizing android for work and working best since (doesn't take much space, don't affect performance and ram tho)

In essence does the same thing as Parallel Space but better: it uses the built in Android for Work system, so it's more stable and reliable.
You can both clone app or have a seperate space to have some apps you don't want them in your normal space. You can also use greenify to make sure cloned apps are hibernated and don't use resources if that's what you want.
AFAIK you can run both apps (normal and cloned) at the same time.

im not sure if this is a repost but check out this app...it has over 300 free flash games you can download. For some reason google banned this app from the marketplace so you have to go download it from their website, google kongregate android.
Well, I've also been playing those games directly from my phone's browser (Miren) and it works!
Works great
Id find out why it was banned before installing it. Just my 2c
It's back on the market now.
Not on market
I run KAOS Froyo 2.2.1 and when I search the market, it is not there.
anyone have the original apk that allows to install flash games to sd card? or that one doesn't work anymore because they updated the app?
Just wait 5minutes, I'll post the original here.
edit:
Okay you can download the original (January 18/v1.0.8) apk from this site:
http://www.getjar.com/mobile/53364/kongregate-arcade-for-samsung-gt-i9000-galaxy-s/?s=phones
It is completely free, and this is the version that got banned from the Android Market.
Google say it is like an AppStore within the Android Market and I agree, but it is an awesomely free one with great titles!
And I still stand behind my reasoning that this "App" or "AppStore" wasn't threatening/damaging the Market in any way ... infact it was doing the exact opposite by bringing more titles to the Android platform (and enticing iOS/WP7 customers).
Why this older version is better than the new one (on the Android Market) is because it has the "offline mode". It automatically downloaded the flash games to your internal/SD card ... thus you don't need to constantly waste your time, money and internet allowance on re-downloading it again and again.
The new one sucks because it has no "offline mode" instead it tries to save the games to your browsers cache. I've noticed from experience once you have about a dozen or more games cached, the performance of the Android browser becomes slower. In fact, it pretty much overloaded mine, and the froyo system "fixed" the problem by clearing it automatically; making me lose my previous data and the games. I also think by exhausting the cache, this might cause faster battery drain from your device.
Here's a quick note, try to run as few Apps as possible when trying to play these flash games. This thing will cripple older/slower devices, and will give newer ones a lot of stress. If you do not close all the Apps, that's fine it might run a little slower, but make sure you definitely close down any internet browsers or Apps that use/stress the Flash 10.1 resources. Also, you can control which directory the games will be downloaded to (either to internal or to SDcard), so choose depending on your personal space needs. (I'm using a Galaxy S I9000 with stock froyo)
If you download from another source and want to test if its the original (superior) version, you can do so by:
Downloading/Opening/Playing any game (eg Ink Ball). Then exited the app and disable any internet connections (switch on Flight mode). Re-open the App. Try playing the same game (eg Ink Ball) ... if it enters/resumes (congrats you have the original version) otherwise it will come with a note about getting an internet connection.
Go GameStop for making this available again!

When I first installed it (after it was removed from Market), there was around ~320 games available.
I've checked today, and there is 338 games available.
So yes, and I hope they will keep it that way

For those worried about not being able to install big games such as, Nova 3, Asphalt etc, due to the lack of storage.
Look at this application

If it works for you let us know

Wow...good lookin' out! I've been unlocked/ rooted for a while now, but haven't utilized otg since the one thing I would use it for ( huge, rarely used apps/games) couldn't be done. I have a few games that I play (only 2-3 ) but they are over 1Gb. So I only have one installed, because I don't play them enough to warrant them taking the last of my storage. Thanks
I just copy over the game files in sdcard/android/data via samba to my laptop. Delete the game files if i need space and restore if i want the game later. Just waiting for my OTG cable to arrive which will speed things up. Any number of sync apps on the market (foldersync a very good one) to manage it automatically.

Accidentally I stumbled upon the folder gangyun and pref_storekeytool inside.
I scanned the Maze with an antivirus scanner and beautysnap.apk was reported as adware.
I guess beautysnap.apk is part of the system camera?
Unfortunately no app can beautify me, so I would like to delete this app. Is it safe to do it?
TIA

What virus scanner did you use? I've just received my Maze Alpha X. There are some bad things about this phone, I'm a bit disappointed. The worst in my case is that the front camera doesn't work. It's like there's no camera at all.
Yeah unfortunately this phone is loaded with precarious apps, adupsfota for instance disguised as the ota wireless update is full of dodgy adware/spyware and if you look at the permissions your see just how worrying it is, it has permission to access banking apps, android pay, key-logger, microphone, camera the list goes on, I've disabled it several times but it manages to re-enable itself. Beautysnap is also a bad one which I have managed to disable for good, LocationEM2 is another suspect app, Fotaprovider which is also adups related. Basically this phone really needs an alternative kernel/custom rom before it can be safely used but as far as I'm aware there isn't one as yet.
The CPU usage is always very high too which is not a great sign, not good at all, I'm surprised Amazon can sell phones in this state tbh.

Ive used a few but the adware/malware/spyware that the phone has installed as standard on the kernal/rom it's shipped with are installed as system apps with the exception of beautysnap so you need to go through them manually. I used an app called SystemPanel2, it's a great app that gives you a really complete overview of whats running on your phone and what not, it can record system processes, memory, battery and cpu usage over a period of time as well as network stats.

I couldn't be able to find those suspicious apps. I've run a bunch of virus/malwares scanner, nothing reported. I've installed SystemPanel2 and I didn't find the processes you list. I believe our phones run different firmwares. I've got mine from Gear Best.

Under your Wireless Update system app what does it say? On mine for instance is says "com.adups.fota". If your firmware is good/clean then that's a good sign that if I put a fresh stock rom on here it should be fine, I was thinking maybe all the maze alpha firmware's were affected.
My com.adups.fota "seems" to be clean.
For hibernating apps on my rooted Alpha X I use SD Maid Pro.
Under app control you set several things
A) Hibernate the app
B) Disallow start on boot
C) Look up where all the files of the app are located
D) Remove app completely
E) etc

No such thing as clean addups I'm afraid dude.
A newly discovered malicious app is found on China-made mobile devices running the Android OS. This is a baked-in system app used to update the device’s firmware but is found to also steal personal information, among other things. A blog is recently published about this malware by Kryptowire.
Already we have had inquiries on whether we detect Adups or not. The answer to that is I believe we do. You see, the app in question, which goes by the package name of com.adups.fota, has a couple of variants. There is an older version seen around 2014 and a newer version that emerged mid-2016. This older version we detect and have done so since 2014. I can verify that this older version was indeed pre-installed on various Chinese mobile devices bought cheaply on online stores, mainly Amazon. I know this because ever since we started detecting this older version of com.adups.fota, we have received support tickets periodically about why we are detecting a system app that cannot be uninstall—I’ll get to how to address this later.

I want to know if theirs a firmware for the Maze Alpha and the Alpha X without addups baked in, I hope so because it's a great phone otherwise.
Good Day.
I would like to clarify that I do not know how to create ROMs and I do not know how to write codes(anymore) but since our devices are aging, would be it great to send our Xperia SP off with a bang with an Android GO edition-like ROM? our devices cant handle newer apps and processes anymore but at least I think the Go edition ROM can still make our phones as usable as daily drivers either on Android Q or Pie.
please consider. thank you.
As far as i may concerned, LOW RAM optimisations are already implemented in the codebase for current active ROMs for Huashan. And, to the best of my knowledge, which i may be wrong, these optimisations are derived from Android GO itself. I vaguely remember that at one time this is a main topic said by Adrian the master himself.
Huashan is no longer capable to run modern apps that somewhat uses heavy resources (which i myself don't understand why Instagram needed such a computing power). Unfortunately neither do current Go phones. That is why PWA is a thing to all Go devices. I.e. Maps Go, Twitter Lite, etc.
Of course this is not an objection to your proposal. Just thinking of dropping my thoughts here
Android Oreo and Pie just doesn't cut it well for this phone.
Instead of shoving newer android versions down this phones throat expecting miracles. We should go back to one of Lollipop or marshmallow ROMs and realise how much lag free and usable it is. They're still pretty modern looking and does the job well.

Free yourself from Google and then you'll see how smooth current ROMs are.
Not to mention that they offer battery times like 7-12 days.

I don't use gapps on LOS 15.1. Knowing that they crap the phone out.
LOS 15.1 is good, we get latest security updates, better UI etc.. but hangs and stutters more with apps and multitasking.

I don't agree with that, KaBombaBoom. I ran Oreo for a long time and recently upgraded to Pie. The phone is still surprisingly fast until some hungry app gobbles up all RAM and it starts running on swap.
That's what doesn't cut well for any phone in the long run, those apps that keep growing bigger and bigger and requiring more RAM though mostly or no new functionality is added.
Google Play Services itself is heavy, not to mention other google apps such as their mail, I open it from the browser these days. I'd love to get away without GApps but retaining the deep sleep wake that push notifications provide.

How is your experience with that emcom? Does your phone wakes up from deep sleep when you get IM?
That's the main reason I never tried android without GApps. That and the fact that all drivers are mostly proprietary anyways, so why bother

Of course it wakes up. I've been using it as my daily driver with WhatsApp for some time last year, and it was perfect. There was just one problem which I could not resolve : message backups. I mean, it was working perfectly when I made backups on the SD card, but if I wanted to have them somewhere in the cloud, the only option was the Google Drive - which is not working without Google services.
Btw. it's possible to use One Drive instead of Google Drive (eg. for photos backup in the cloud, but not WhatsApp - if you have maybe Office 365 subscription.
And it's possible to have anything else running without Google - contacts, messaging, even a lot of applications indicating they need Google on the phone - they are working without Google anyway. Thet's except for paid apps, of course.
I'm thinking of moving across to the dual SIM Sony Xperia I Mk II.
I've been using various OEMs that have dual apps as standard but seeing as Sony devices are pretty much stock are there any reliable apps other than the usual suspects like Parallel Space that don't hog up system resources and drain the battery?
I have had a good look around the Play Store but can't seem to find a reliable app that will run dual apps such as WhatsApp.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as I don't want to spend a lot of money for a phone that I can't run two SIM cards on as I'm using my current mobile device as my personal and business phone.
Thanks in advance
I had the same issue. Coming from a Samsung Phone, I got really used to the secure folder and dual app functionality. I found an app called Island (by Oasis Feng) which pretty much uses the built in Android Work profile system to create dual apps. It does exactly that: lets you choose the apps you'd like to create another copy of and treats it just like it's own installation. I don't think it uses any battery or anything like that. I don't use it often but when I have needed it I had no issues or anything. It should be more than enough for what you need.

Thanks Davis I appreciate the response. I heard about Island apparently it's one of the better ones out there in terms of bringing dual app functionality and with you stating that you haven't had any issues using it is a step in the right direction. Will give it a go if I decide to get the Xperia in the end.

Hi. if its only for Whats app purposes.. What i usually do is Install Business Whatsapp and Regular Whatsapp. This doesnt need any additional app and works amazingly fine.
Just setup business whatsapp for ur business (it actually is very useful for business) .. u can even set it for ur personal number.. It doesnt matter tbh.
Hope u get the idea. thanks.
