Moto G5S+ dead, won't turn on - Moto G5S Plus Questions & Answers

Hello,
I need help. My phone won't turn on.
Last used by my son, he was watching Netflix and drained the battery completely. So I charged the phone using the original charger it came with (turbo charger). It was charging fine and I turned it on (so I can receive notifications).
When I checked the phone after an hour it was off. I tried to turn it on but it won't. I noticed that a tiny light is blinking on the upper left corner of the phone. If I press power, nothing on the screen comes on. Normally when I do that it will show how many percent of the battery is now charged. But the screen is just off. Like dead. Except for the tiny light that blinks when it is plugged in to the charger.
I googled and here are the steps that I have taken:
• used another charger (higher amp) - won't turn on and won't charge except for the tiny light that still blinks
• used another charger (lower amp) - won't turn on and won't charge except for the tiny light that still blinks
• tested original charger and all the chargers and it works for the other phone in the house
• left it to charge several hours using original charger and a separate time charging using the other chargers in the house - won't turn on and won't charge except for the tiny light that still blinks
• left it unused overnight then charged in the morning - still no go
• Pressed power button (also power+volume down) 3 minutes - won't turn on
• Pressed power button (also power+volume down) 3 minutes while plugged in to the charger/pc - won't turn on
• connected the phone to PC - not detected
Right now it is in the freezer because one of the search results I saw said to put it in for 5 minutes and then charge. I am trying almost anything I can find. Warranty is no go because this is a 13 month old phone. :crying:
I need help from anyone here who has suggestions I can try. :crying::crying::crying:

It is not a complete answer as there is a part missing in the next solution but I could get my wifes G5s back to life:

Hello
Thanks for your help although
My phone is now up and running (after 3 days being dead)
What happened was I was ready to follow the link you sent
I connected my phone to laptop then without doing anything else (just plugged in) I finally saw the lightning icon on the screen indicating that it is charging
So I unplugged my phone and charged it using original charger and after leaving it for 3 hours it is now fully charged at 100% I am using it now as I am typing my reply
I am so happy.
The only thing I did before this worked again was I left my phone in the freezer for a few hours lol
Then left it unused whole day
Then tonight I plugged it in the laptop and voila that's what happened

Even better, less fuss!

Hi guys, any chance that someone can provide me a mmcblk0.img file for XT1805?

[Solved] Upgraded to CM7 RC14 (doshaska), now battery will not charge on my Milestone

Edit: thanks to this post, my problem has been solved. Thanks!
So last night I went from stock motorola 2.2 to this wonderful-seeming version of CyanogenMod on my UK milestone - the install went flawlessly, but now I have a problem - my battery is not charging at ALL.
While the phone was on last night after I charged it, it was plugged in, first to my PC and then to the wall socket. In both cases, the battery indicator had a ? (question mark) on it.
I thought it might have been some weirdness with battery calibration so I left it and plugged the phone in from the wall to charge overnight. This morning, my phone was telling me to connect my charger (despite it being plugged in) and on removing the power cable, it died due to no battery power left within 10 minutes.
While plugged in from the wall, the battery indicator comes up but again just contains a ? on it. The little white light next to the power socket never lights up.
If I plug the phone in to my PC via USB then if the handset is OFF, the white light comes on and around 10 mins later it gets enough juice to boot up. The problem is that when the CM7 software starts, the little white light disappears, the phone stops charging despite the cable being present, and it then dies 2 minutes later.
I know the battery is fine because it was perfectly fine before I installed CM7.
Anyone else experienced this problem and/or know how to fix it?
One thing I did manage to do before it died was install a battery calibration app that I found on xda-developers - this told me that the battery was running at 3267 mV - any idea if that's good or bad?
(and yes, I'm using precisely the same cable/charger I was using before I put this version of CM7 on, so I know they are fine - they charge a friend's SGS with no problems)

Try plugging the phone into the wall charger, without the battery. Try and boot it up and let it boot. Once it's booted up, give it a bit and try and put the battery in and leave it to charge.
What happens if you turn off you phone and plug it in a wall charger? If the problem isn't in your battery it will charge fully.
When you phone comes up, try to disable the 1% battery steps in settings. I got a problem with it, and after disabled/enabled it worked fine for me.
Hope this helps.
On plugging it into a wall charger, the phone comes up with its special battery charging screen (i.e. a fullscreen battery level indicator) - no amount of pressing the power button seems to get it to boot properly (with or without the battery).
I'll see if I can get in and get rid of the 1% steps thing later, thanks for the suggestion

Dude, that was PERFECT.
Managed to get enough juice into the thing to get into the menu for a moment and was able to disable the 1% battery steps option - soon as I touch that tickbox, the battery indicator switches from a ? to the charging symbol and the phone starts charging. Thanks a million!
Nop dude, you are welcome

will atrix hd run plugged in but without battery?

I'm asking this because my phone spent whole night in some strange looking juice. In the morning when I switched ii on there was a msg about cooling down and since then it never started again.
So after one week I opened it and cleaned each possible part (there was a lot of dry greenish liquid everywhere).
When I put back all together again nothing worked - the green led was off - power button did nothing (only battery inside, no charger)
When I plugged the charger the green light was on but again nothing worked. Power and volume down buttons ddid nothing - only the led blinked once and than stayed continously lit.
I'm 90% sure that battery is dead because when I check voltage on that sticking ribbon one of 4 connection points shows nothing.
So I removed the battery and plugged the charger - and again nothing worked - only the green light was on.
so please somebody tell me that it should be that way I mean atrix hd will not run when plugged in but without battery - so I will still have some hope that only battery is kaput)
thank you in advance.
Why do you switch it on after its been in juice?
well that's a good question
didn't I mention there was a party that night? - well I just did swich it (without too much thinking)
i took my atrix hd apart and removed the battery. my green ligh comes on when the battery is out as well. however, it will not power up. so my question is the same as the op is there any way to test the phone to be sure it is the battery and not the phone? im willing to buy another battery if i know for sure.
thanks!

[Q] Daily lock up while charging

Hello,
I am currently using an ATT branded 64 GB HTC One. The Phone is locked and stock except for a few play applications I've downloaded
Nearly every day that I connect the phone to the charger for an extended period of time I will come back to it and it will be frozen, the notification LED will be solid just like its charging normally but the screen will not wake, when the phone is disconnected from the charger the LED stays solid red as if it was still plugged in. At this point I will hold the power button until the phone powers off (or at least seems to, the screen backlight is not on and the LED goes black) and then hold the power button again and it will boot. The more serious problem I've been running in to is after powering down the phone down sometimes it will not power back on again regardless of how long I hold the power button for (I haven't gone over 1:30 of holding the button often but I have tried it). The phone seems dead for either a few minutes or a few hours. Here are some other observations I've made...
- I've had the phone "lock up" on 3 different chargers, HTC bundled charger, generic USB, and the one bundled with my Nexus 4.
- I've thought maybe the phone isn't charging while I am away and when the phone will not wake up maybe it is completely dead so I've hooked it up for about ~15-60 minutes and tried powering the phone up on the above 3 chargers, a Lumia 920 charger, car charger, and charging off computers USB port. None of these seem to have any affect on waking the phone up.
- The time between powering off and when it will power back on seems to be getting longer? I am currently with the dead One, it died about 12 hours ago before bed, tried to power it on last night and again this morning after leaving it on the charger. The closest to powering on that I got was the screen flashed white for a millisecond. Tried to power it back on many times this morning and no go.
- The phone hasn't frozen away from home, but I've only charge it from USB from my PC at work.
Right now I am leaning toward contacting ATT to see if I can arrange an exchange, I'm out of ideas at this point.

Battery not charging even though phone recognises charger

I have a C6003 running 4.4 Stock with an unlocked BL and am rooted. The phone screen is cracked at the top third (not smashed, just 2 long cracks) and that third of the screen does not receive touch input, but still displays. Anyway, the phone is currently out of battery, when I try to power it on, I get either a flash of the Sony logo then 3 blinks of the red LED or just straight to the LED, which is normal. I plug it in to charge (tried several USB cable / wall plug combos, up to 2.1A etc.) and the red LED glows solid as it should. Even hours later it still will not power on and gives me the blinking LEDs...It was charging for a total of at least 7 hours and is still not turning on. I have had several battery issues recently but this is the most serious. I am sending my phone in for repair under insurance for the screen but need to back it up first! Any help is appreciated.
EDIT: Quick edit to add the fact that this same issue occurred yesterday as well but it eventually powered on with 15% battery, I used it and it would not charge and so that is why it is run down again. Even when powered on it would not charge, the LED did light and it charged for 5 seconds each time the cable was inserted, but after the 5 the LED would stop and it would stop charging. The phone knew the cable was there though as when it was inserted Stamina mode was disabled (as it should) even though it was not charging?

Xperia Z1 charging very very slowly...

Hello.
I bought xperia Z1 yesterday (I got it with around 22% of battery). Firstly when I got home phone was at 18% and for 1.5 it charged to 25%. I was confused with a message "21 hours remaining to get fully charged" and when I went into phone information, I saw that battery could last 3 days. Nevertheless, I went out clubbing with 25% and returned home with around 15%. I thought you need to format the battery (as I did with my previous phones) so I was using it until phone turned off completely. Phone was put to charge at 4 a.m. into a power socket using original charger which I've got with the phone and when I woke up at 11 a.m. it was not charged. It couldn't even get turned on. It displayed nothing but red light.
Then I pressed volume up + switch on/off button, it vibrated 3 times then I put it into computer to get a USB charge. Now after an hour, phone has charged up to only 6% of battery but I'm glad I can see something (meaning, it shows how much it is charged - I couldn't see anything after I woke up and disconnected it from a socket).
I searched the internet and couldn't find any solution. I see people charging their Z1's within 3 hours max and mine hasn't charged with 8 hours spent plugged in a socket. What also worries me is that it charges really slowly, a lot slower than it should be.
I'd be thankful if anyone can help me.

Are you charging it with the original cable and charger? Try another charger.
Yes, I'm charging with original adapter and original usb cable.
I solved the problem. Problem was the original usb cable. It's perfect looking but god knows what's happening inside, it could be a factory error - it's not supplementing enough current from adapter to phone.
I solved the problem by using original adapter and usb cable from my htc wildfire s. Now it's charging as it should, it'll be full within 2 hours or so (phone is turned on now and I'm making calls so it's under stress).
