Hi, I purchased an international equinox Note 9 on eBay and I'm using with my T-Mobile sim, however, some apps like Samsung pay and Samsung gear do not work and Samsung pay only shows in Thai language (I think) with no way to change it to English. Is there another firmware I can flash without rooting it that would fix this so it can work better here in the US? Thanks

Unfortunately Samsung Pay is dependent on the device's origin. You won't be able to use Samsung Pay in the US with your N960F as Samsung Pay on that device requires a EU Credit Card to be registered. Installing the US OS onto it will possibly brick it.

Yes do not flash Snapdragon firmwares onto Exynos devices (or vice versa), ever...Odin likely won't let you do it anyways, but if it did you would definitely have a brick. You can change to U.S. CSC on Exynos only if rooted, but that would trip Knox and kill Samsung Pay forever anyways...

Where did you get it from on eBAy? I think of buying one.
Also, Thai firmware will work with Baml visa. I am from Thailand, and I am using sS Pay with BaML everyday
I bought my Exynos Note 9 from nevermsrp on eBay. These phones originated from Singapore where I think Samsung Pay works in the states. I'll set it up when I'm at the office and let you guys know.

Hi thanks for your replies, yes same here nevermsrp on ebay. I'm thinking I will go the rooting way, Google pay should work plus here in the US there are other features not working without root like wifi calling or VoLTE, and I believe the warranty is not valid here anyways.

Same, purchased a Note 9 Exynos from ebay (Asian version) and was trying to figure out how to make Samsung Pay work, tried registering my card through that built in Asian Samsung Pay app and it worked, did you try adding the card? Mine worked and only miss out on the rewards because I do get points with every purchase but they would work in Asia.
I didn't really try because it was all in another language and I couldn't find a way to change it to English. Do you get wifi calling? I also have a gear S3 watch that I was planning to use for Samsung pay and rewards but for some reason the app is not able to find it, I guess it's expecting to find the asian version.

I was able to register my phone with Samsung Pay and add US Credit Card issued by Bank of America. I read on Reddit that you do lose out on Samsung rewards when you use the Exnyos model in the US.

I'm on T-Mobile but I don't have Wifi calling nor Volte, I saw a thread here where you can enable it using this:
http://tekhd.com/detonator/#tmodetonator
I don't feel like rooting my phone, and since I only make phone calls when it need be (10 a month tops) non of those features are must for me. If you were to root you'd trip Knox and give up Pay, not sure if it can be undone.

Yeah same here, accumulated points through Samsung Pay would only be good to use in the country the phone was purchased. I can live with that though.

Hello,
I bough an S3 to change my OneX and i`m still not sure what i bought.
It is deffenetly from Korea, but i cannot find if it is a i9305 aside from checking the RAM and it seams to be a 2GB phone.
The recovery mode is in Korean (Vol down + middle Button + Power)... Can i change that?
Other info about the phone
Model Number: SHV-E210L (i cannot read Korean to figure out what this is, but at least it leads to the Samsung Site)
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband: E210LKLLK5/E210LKLLK7
Build Number: JZO54K.E210LKLJLL7
I`m in Europe -> Romania so i`m guessing i would be better off with a local Radio. Can you advice on one?
Also there are some weird factors:

Is that an built in antenna on the photo????,
if so that is fake
Definetly a Knockoff

Lol!
That looks like its an attenna,
*Fake stamp*
How much did you pay for this knock off if i can ask so?
I hope they did not scam you lol..
Xewl do a little research.. i found this
http://www.zdnet.com/localize-handset-design-content-to-be-competitive-7000006309/
It seams that in Korea the Antenna is a local consumer need
It's NOT a knockoff! It's the domestic Korean version of the Galaxy S3 ... the model number SHV-E210L is for the LG U+ provider. The antenna is included on all the Korean versions of the S3 because it is used to watch TV in Korea over the T-DMB network. Most smartphones in Korean have this antenna.
AGAIN this is NOT a knockoff but whether a domestic Korean version of the S3... and actually better than the I9305!

Oh nice,
Never heard about that tho
I did saw alot of knock offs with sich attennas thats why i made the link instantly ^^

Not to be rude but I wouldn't necessarily say better than the I9305 as that would entirely depend on what you intend to do with it. For example, I doubt you'll get LTE reception in europe with it, nor T-DMB. And is the custom rom scene big for it?
Fun fact, turns out swedes on Tele2 can partially get LTE on the SHV-E210K (not L), our carrier uses the 900mhz band in rural areas and 2600mhz in cities (or vice versa, not completely sure).
You hit the i on the head... there is no support for the i9305... so i`m thinking of selling again..i want CM

I agree with the LTE and T-DMB and the lack of custom support as being the downsides but the reason why I say it is better than the I9305 is simply because of the long-term support from Samsung. With it you will get official updates first and for a longer time than the I9305. But the LTE bands on the Korean version are quite different...so that is a major problem.

You don't even have an I9305, there is no community support for your phone. The I9305 on the other hand, is - like I said in the other thread - basically an N7105 with a smaller screen, meaning we do have support in the sense that everything that is happening to that device will eventually be mirrored to our device.

what do you mean i don't have an i9305?! do you mean to say that i have an i9300??
I read that the 2GB versions of the i9300 are i9305 according to GSM Arena for ex.
Could you clarify?! does this mean i can flash CM?
No, neither, you said yourself that you have an SHV-E210L... This is a phone designed for the Korean market.
It's similar to the I9305 in that it has an exynos 4412 processor, 2gb ram and LTE (note: modem will likely be different). But the board will be wired differently, if you are interested in CyanogenMod I would definitely sell it.
oh so it has an entirely different code.
So i can't even flash i9305 ROMs, right?
nothing.. it is rooted already but i did not flash any recovery
You can use this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alxdroiddev.gs3identity
to detect if the phone is a fake or not. This app will tell you.
it's legit.. but from the looks of it ... i won't be able to flash anything on this ... since there is no way of knowing if it will stick or brick my phone :|
The easiest way to know for sure is to check if it has samsung features like camera with Best Shot and etc, Palm Skype, Direct Call, Multiwindows

I just picked up my galaxy s6 active, but I plan to use it with tmobile. From what I saw, it takes band 4 lte, which is tmo, so all I would need are the apn settings and I should be good to go.

Can you unlock if it's under contract or on payment plan? If so let me know where, thanks!
You can unlock any GSM phone regardless of if it is under any contract or not.
There are plenty of online services that give you unlock codes based on your imei
Tried one on eBay, came back as "this device is active on another user's account" which apparently means it's under contract. Bought phone on swappa so must've been an upgrade.
BTW, this is exactly how I did it. Still waiting on my unlock code though.

Holy crap! You got a $700 brand new phone on CL for $450? Wonder why the person didn't return phone for refund instead since it's only been out since last Friday officially? Was seller an at&t employee or something?

So how would you be getting future firmware updates? Would you be able to get it OTA when AT&T release it for the S6 Active, or do you need to wait for it to be uploaded somewhere so you can download and install?

Unlocked using Verizon and it's enabled for me.
Probably there are a lot of people who do not have the same problem as i do. By just saying that you are ok you understand that you are giving me no help at all, right?
is that option only available on unlocked versions?
I think xbmoyx comment is certainly helpful as it indicates that unlocked Note 8 does support the feature.
My unlocked Note also supports it, using TMO as provider in the US.
I think there is no spam phone register in Europe/Greece yet, so the service is not being provided to you and that is the reason why it is greyed out.
Mine is grayed out but it is on. I am with t mobile.
It works on my unlocked phone here in the UK. I think the option is region specific.
--
Definitely sounds region-specific...like my old Galaxy S7 from Sprint that hid/restricted access to the APN settings menu. My S7 was sim-unlocked and I wasn't on Sprint anyways, so I was able to flash an unbranded version of their firmware which lifted those restrictions and provided normal access again to those features. Sounds similar to your case OP.
My phone had that working with hydra rom, when I installed 8 ported rom it no longer works, it also is greyed out in off position
got my unbranded/unlocked on amazon uk as well and it is also greyed out, I've no sim card in it at the moment though, maybe it depends if the actual service is available from your provider
You first have to go to advanced features, enable it there
You can also try downloading the latest software for the carrier you are using it on (from Sammobile or wherever), and then flash the Home_CSC file only.
That's how i got all my carrier features (and caller ID/Spam Protection) back.

If your phone was purchased through Verizon it's the 950U and the feature is disabled because they want you to use their pre installed caller id app instead. You will need to flash the latest 950U1 firmware for the feature everyone is talking about. Keep in mind if you flash this you will loose all the Verizon bloatware such as VVM and what not and your phone will be reset. Also the link I provided is the latest firmware as of today but I think another update is coming soon.

Will you be more specific? Where in advanced feathers should I change something and what exactly?
I mean I use S9 with U1 firmware, but still this Caller ID and spam protection feature is greyed out. I had it also in my unlocked S7 before with different operators I had been with. Also, I am sure it's not a matter of operator since my friend used the same phone with same operator, but had this not greyed out.
Guys, this issue will be Service provider related. I have two S10, same Model Number (SM-G973F/DS), same Software latest version (G973FXXUFHVE1), working on same network (Vodafone, Spain) so unlocked. One has Caller ID and spam protection ON but you cannot turn off, other is the opposite. Switched OFF and you cannot turn off.
But the Service provider software versions are different (CSC code):
Protectoin ON: .....AMO/AMO,AMO/AMO (Spain)
Protection OFF: .....BTU/BTU,BTU/BTU (Great Britain)
Maybe that's the key... i'm going to try to change BTU version to AMO on my second phone and keep you updated.
Guide how to change the Service provider (CSC code):
All Galaxy Z Fold 2's have the Snapdragon chipset. So I was wondering if we can flash global firmware (F916B) on a North American (F916U) phone. Can anyone test it out? If we can do that, then we should be able to root the North American variant.
I've asked a few people about this and I've gotten mixed responses. So I was wondering if anyone can test it out. I haven't received my Z Fold 2 yet so I can't test.

Not possible right now, odin regardless of hardware will not allow cross flashing of different model numbers. It will fail everytime
I haven't even seen anyone try using the modified odin on the note 20 ultra yet let alone the more expensive fold.

U and U1 were the the same device. Similar to how the carrier variants of the fold can be flashed to unlocked firmware.
I imagine there's something different though that makes it so we can't flash the firmware from the international and vice versa.
Not quite sure but I thought there were really only 2 versions with the only difference being the amount of storage...
The US Unlocked version don't have the eSIM activated... I'm just hoping a software update will activate the eSIM like the EU one's.
This person has a US Unlocked model and was asked which SIM did he want to use but as far as i know, only the East has gotten the Sept update to enable esim

They've been claiming an update since day 1, still not here. I do believe it's coming though since it's an advertised feature and included in the spec; they pretty much have to cough it up sooner or later.

A "pre-sales" chat with Samsung proves they're advertising this device as eSIM capable, and stating it will be enabled in an update. So it seems we're getting mixed responses (maybe depending on whether or not we've already bought the device?) All I know is that the hardware supports it and their representatives say it is supported and will be enabled, even if that's only to make a sale...

This is the note 20 ultra thread but should get you started in the right direction.
Hey guys, first of, I want to thank you for reading the post.
So I've recently bought a new S21 Ultra from Korea, on the seller's page it was stated that it's unlocked. The issue I had when I received the phone is that it starts up with the carriers (SKT(Korea Telecomm)) splash screen, and what this means is that when I entered in. I was forced to install all of SKT apps. And I can't disable them or anything. And when I put in my local sim card to test it, I could call people and it was technically working fine. But when I was using mobile data. It only activates 3G/LTE, although my sim is 4G+ and I've been using it with my all phone all the time. I've also come to noticed that there is a SKT connection thing in my setting, and I noticed that my local sim card is actually classified as a overseas sim card. So it's as if the phone is thinking I'm mobile data roaming all the time. I need help with this, is there anyway to get rid of it? I've got a screen shot to explain what's happening.

I think so as well. Man....
No.. what are you talking bout? You didn’t buy it from Samsung? you’re phone is unlocked! How else are you able to make calls?? You would have no service and your phone would give a SIM card error if it was locked. You need to change your APN settings according to your carriers. Thats it you’ll have full speed internet after you change your APN settings, to your US carriers APN, it’s currently on the Korean carriers that’s why it’s showing as overseas. Google APN settings for your carrier.
Your splash screen will always show the Korean carrier cuz it’s their device originally, if you want to change it you have to root it first. Dudes splash says Samsung cuz his is factory unlocked, it never was locked to any carrier. He bought it from Samsung directly which is why there’s no carrier stuff anywhere.
Yo OP if someone says something weird you don’t have to agree with them, you should ask them to clarify instead, that way you can correct them if they’re wrong which in this case you missed, they pointed you in the wrong direction, which certainly didn’t help you. To an outsider like myself you both seem crazy, obviously y’all have no idea what y’all talkin bout and I know it didn’t get resolved cuz the only way is my solution.
Do you reside in Korea, if not why aquire the Korean variant? If you add up all the different S21 Models then factor in all the different Service Provider's it's over one-hundred different variants. That's pretty much on Samsung, no other device manufacturer has anywhere near this many variants, it's absolutely absurd! Anytime you install firmware that doesn't match your device’s Primary CSC you should expect conflicts. If there's any comfort in the fact that thousands if not millions of users are in the same boat as you. If you need full Call Feature Compatibility it's always best to aquire your Service Provider's device. A bit of research goes a long ways when it comes to Samsung's numerous offerings.
You have to change the APN to which ever carriers APN you are using... that simple.
If you don't know how to do so. Let me know
As this post is 10 month old, I guess the issue is already solved long ago...
