Alarm when phone is off - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

Hy, is there any possibilities for alarm to go on when the phone is off. Or is this disabled on Android One?

On Pocophone works. It even asks you 1min before the alarm turns on if you are already awake.

It's a feature from some devices, unfortunately in Android stock/Android one is not available.

Sry thats not right...
I don't know exactly but the Nokia 7+ or the BQ Aquaris X2 Pro for example has that feature...and both are Android One devices...

I have the similar problem after flashing Lineage OS.
Maybe you can try ForceDoze, an app which can get your phone into Doze right after being locked.
However, sometimes the battery consumption gets abnormally high even ForceDoze is applied.

AOD to turn off in pocked

Do you think this will be implented? Also pocket mode isn't availible. How come? We could save tons of battery consumption if AOD just would turn off when the phone is covered. Also any suggestions of a temporary solution to this would be welcome.

My Mi 9 AOD turns off by itself when put in dark places. It turns on again after light comes. So when its in pocket, it should turn off too. I am using rom miui global beta 9.4.26
As described in the aod description too. Although its not instantly turn off like samsung phone, it still useful for saving battery..

10.2.27.0 EEA ROM withdrawn?

After several days of reading posts that 10.2.27.0 EEA was available, I finally tried to upgrade just now.
Checked on the phone. No update available.
Went to official ROM depository en.miui.com. The latest they have is still 10.2.26 EEA.
Ended up doing the download at miblog.co. But when I installed it failed at validation saying this is beta and I need a beta authorized Xiaomi account to be able to install it.
... So did they rollback the ROM distribution?
My guess is that with the major problems during the latest Mi 9 SE update they stopped all roll outs until they have figured out the problem. Also for other Mi9 devices.
I flashed the update via TWRP and its not so good to use. Have some connection problems with it. Hopefully they fix the issues soon and deliver it new.
I am positively surprised about the .27 update. It fixed all my battery standby drain issues. Got a much better runtime now, 2 days when fully charged
Thank God i didnt install the update. The update appeared like week ago and then suddenly disappeared. I was waiting for some reviews, because my phone is running great on .26 update, although there are still some minor bugs.
I have exactly opposite experience to the Dada124's. 10.2.26.0 was very gentle to the battery, while 10.2.27.0 drains it like crazy. Yesterday it went down from 68 % to 18 % in 3 hours - 1hour watching video, 1hour surfing web and 1hour listening to an audiobook. No wonder they pulled it. Hope they fix it with next update, because this is beyond ridiculous.
I don't have battery issue with .27
Bluetooth volume is now synced with my earbuds, there is direct control.
My alarm still don't show up on the lockscreen in the morning, it's annoying to unlock the phone to deactivate it. Am I the only one with this problem ?!?

I have only good things to say about the .27 update. Slightly better battery life, pocket mode (yay!), better volume handling with different Bluetooth devices (no too lows or too highs) more devices turning up as aptX or better codecs instead of the basic SBC.

I cannot make it turn on if the upper part of the screen is covered. No need to turn off pocket mode. I tested the pocket mode very intensively and at no time however much I try or tap the whole screen or the fingerprint reader will it go to the lock screen anymore!

No you're not. I thinks it's a bug in the clock app. Workaround ist to schedule the DND mode to end in the same Minute Like your Alarm is ringing.
I have .27 on two Mi 9s, and both are experiencing problems:
- Battery drain
- Connection problems, both 4g/LTE and Wi-Fi
- Pocket mode, if exists, is enabled by default, because there is no switch on/off.
- Multiple issues with Android Auto
At least they fixed the AI button - it does pull Google voice assistant directly now.

Thanks. No obvious difference to 27 yet
I updated to 10.2.28, no issue.
Except how can we confirm pocket mode? As someone said above, there is no on/off options. Is it enabled by default?

Cover the upper part of the screen with one hand and tap the fingerprint scanner fast for some time. Does this make the lock screen show then pocket mode doesn't work for you. It's on by default. It works well for me.

Redmi 9 - Long Vibrate at Power On

Normally when I power on my Redmi 9, I hold the power button down for a few seconds, there's then a very short vibration and the phone starts up. Today however, I got a long continuous vibration (maybe 10-15 seconds) instead of the brief one, after which the phone started up successfully. I've tried powering off and on a few times since, and most of the time got the usual brief vibration, but did get one further reoccurence of the long vibration.
Does anybody know what (if anything) that long vibration signifies?
In case it's relevant, a few days ago I did install the 2021-06-01 security update. It looks as if Android 11 was also installed at the same time as I now have:
MIUI version MIUI Global 12.0.1 Stable 12.0.1.0 (RJCEUXM)
Android version 11 RP1A.200720.011
Security Update 2021-06-01
Thanks

Thanks. Has it been happening a long while for you, or has it only started recently?
I can't help wondering if the recent security and/or Android 11 updates might be the cause.

Don't bother, I've just tried it and it didn't fix the problem.
For the moment I'll just have to leave it permanently switched on, and use 'Reboot' (which doesn't have the vibration) rather than 'Power off' should I need to.

I'm on 12.0.2.0rjceuxm and nova launcher works fine. First time selecting it though it does make the screen bug out eg. flashes bright and dark continuously until I lock the screen.
12.5.1
Charging while powered off.. works just fine
Yes..when its powered off and boots it does vibrate, but really short
Cheers
Well having finally received 12.5, the problem does (so far) seem to have been fixed.
UPDATE: It appears I spoke too soon. After several days of working OK the long vibration issue has returned.

I figured it out. If the phone is on silent mode and you have start up sounds enabled in the system settings, then you will get the long vibration on start up. When the phone is set to ring, only a very brief vibration but then you get the start up sound.
hey guys , just don't hold the power button more than 4-5 secs
if you hold it more than 4-5 secs it will get long vibrate , just press it for like 3 secs

I've always assumed that the whole point of the vibration is to indicate that you've held the power button down long enough to start the phone. So you should hold it down and then release as soon as the vibration starts. Is that not correct?
