Hi,
I've a very strange problem. I've bought this phone 2 days ago from amazon warehouse deal (used like new). When i turned on the phone for the first time, after the configuration, i saw the android pie notification and i started to download it. Because of low battery level i postponed the update. After the update has disappeared and now my phone still with android oreo 8.0 and february security patches.
I've tried to:
reset the phone and configurate it with and without sim
reboot in safe mode and check for updates
hard and soft reset
I don't really know what i can do... its fantastic phone and i don't want to return it to amazon.
Someone can help me?
Maybe you can hard reset again... And try another google account ,... Clear the carrier service data storage, search streng connection and just wait it

Hi all,
same problem.
I turned on, for the first time, my new TA-1055 on 29 November.
I never had/saw the notification for any update and the phone is still saying to be up-to-date with Android 8.0.0, patch to Feb 2018.
I contacted the Nokia support using the "Nokia mobile Care" app. After some useless attempts, the operator asked me the Build Number and he/she said that there is a sort of delay with updates for such build...
So I googled and found some Italian users which had the same problem on May and October (I apologize, I'm new on xda-developers and the system does not allow me to post links).
If I understand correctly they received the update after few days.
Please let me know if you have news, I'll do the same with you.
Thank you.
OTA arrived: my smartphone is currently downloading Android 9 Pie (V3.22C).

It was the September update; updated further two times and it's now up-to-date with the November update.

Hi,
So I was wondering if this is normal, because I seriously doubt it. I'm considering just buying a new phone because so many random small problems have popped up with this P9. If it helps, it is the EVA-L19C20B150. I have checked for updates via the settings app, as well as the hicare app, and it just says the current version is up to date or that there are no updates. I have also tried updating via the SD card, and it said it was successful, but nothing happened, the version didn't change. I have also factory reset my phone. Any ideas? If not, I guess I'm looking at buying the latest Pixel or iPhone next month.
Thanks!
Just swap over my Sim from EE to O2 after reading something on reddit, then checked for updates and by magic there it is May Security Update 2.22A
I originally side-loaded 8.1 few days ago but was still on the April security with no update.
Now i have a feeling EE got some agreement in place with Nokia & other Android vendors over updates if using an EE sim you basically wait like the contract phones for updates, if this being the case then it goodbye EE and move back to Three.
What your thoughts on this?

I have the same problem with EE. But I am still on 8.0 and Feb security patch. BTW how did you update to 8.1, I tried via VPN as suggested by Nokia support but it didn't work.

Head here reg your phone and download the downgrade from Android P which is 8.1.
https://www.nokia.com/en_int/phones/developer
Now easiest way to install it without using ADB is to put it on the phone storage & install from SD in the recovery menu, you might get some error's after it's installed but don't worry about these 8.1 will be fully and error free on your phone, then you need another sim other than EE then you receive the May update or you could try another sim first and see if the 8.1 with may patch shows up.
Edit
also forgot to mention on 8.1 you can enable wifi calling on EE something you cant do on 8.0.

I can confirm also. After swapping Sim, I've got v2.22A
I installed the 8.1 ROM (via ADB) on my TA-1055 last week. Just swapped out my EE SIM for a Three SIM and the May security update was available. I then switched back to the EE SIM and it disappeared. Switched back to Three again and have now upgraded successfully.
Edit: I just realised that EE are now selling the Nokia 7 Plus, so I guess they're blocking / delaying updates until they've completed their own testing.
I'm on ID (Carphone Warehouse's network) and they too are blocking the update.

Could this be the reason for delay?
Do they have to add something to the firmware to enable it?
I am on Three in Ireland and I do not have any option in settings for WIFI calling.
I'm on Plusnet Mobile which piggy backs on EE and have seen no updates since I purchased my phone on release day......
Took my SIM out yesterday, replaced with on old O2 one and rebooted - hey presto 3 updates downloaded over wifi and installed. Everything now working with my Plusnet SIM on 8.1 June security
I'm BT sim and no update. I removed sim, factory reset and got 2 updates via wifi with May security. Put in BT sim and a few days later got the June security upate.
Don't understand that as the carrier should have no influence on updates on this phone as they come direct from Google because this is an Android One phone. I can understand if the phone is from EE (I.e. on contract) as I have an LG G6 contract phone which has had no updates from Nougat and only 1 security update in Jan .

same experience here
1055 uk. plusnet network SIM . bought phone via John Lewis. EE app was instaled on phone
changed to not working SIM fro freedompop and 3 upates immediately. including june security patch
So what happens when you put the EE sim back in and EE finally issue the update?
Just got a system update notice for 9.1 on my sim-free P20 Pro (using EE sim). Downloaded and installed and now it boots up with the 3 logo and no sign of 9.1 additions like vlog or assistant on power button press etc.
Checked system updates and it says up to date but EMUI shows as 9.0 and build as 9.0.0.168, Android Version 9, and changelog says 9.1
Anyone got any idea what's happened?
Cheers
Mine is working perfectly excepting one thing: It randomly vibrates when I am using it on silent. No notification pops up, nothing.

Were either of your phones 2nd hand/not completely brand new and unused? As they lock to first sim for network auth'd updates.
Once you got that splash screen as far as im aware its there for good unless you unlock/rebrand maybe

Nope O2 brand new
Brand new SIM free from Affordable Mobiles.
Well, if a 3 sim wasn't the first to go in either handset I'd be getting onto huawei as something has gone wrong when the update has identified your handsets and now they've been branded 3

Never managed to get a reply from Huawei, but today I got a firmware update notice that actually rolled back the firmware, and now it's downloading 9.1
Still had the 3 boot logo, but I can live with that if it actually updates to 9.1!
I made a downgrade from android 10 to 9 and now I am wondering if I should go back to Android 10 as I found out there is an updaate that came out one month ago according to xpericheck.com , have any of you tried it yet? what should I do? is the issue with the voice notes on whatsapp finally solved? Is this one just a security pach update? thanks.
Hi until only the security patch noticed 1 Aug ,There's some improvement in connection. Maybe something else.
I have the ATT Us variant. It has been stuck in 8.1 for a couple of years. It has been having some serious overheating issues for the past few months and so I wanted to get it upgraded to 10. It also has many other issues with the OS and I am hoping this will resolve it. I turned off updates when I got the phone because at the time I preferred 8.1 over 9.
Anyway, I cannot figure out how to get the updates to work again. I turned auto update back on a week ago. I am on wifi because I am in central Mexico for a while.
When I installed and tried Smart Switch, it said the phone was fully updated which is not true. I have it on the very first ATT update of 8.1.
I do not want to reinstall/factory reset the phone right now, so a fix that allows it to just update would be wonderful.
SM-N960U is the model.
Anyone have any ideas as to how to unstick this?
