Hi,
I'm using rooted dotOS (Android 7.1.2) along with venom kernel. I'm having issues with the proximity sensor in my phone, the screen goes blank during as soon as I place a call and doesn't allow me to do anything until the call is disconnected. I went to call settings to see if there's an option to turn it off but there was none. I also tried disabling it with 'Sensor disabler' xposed module but it didn't work.
Is there any other way to turn it off? Thanks in advance.

Hi -
My screen was not getting on after making the call so I wanted to check the service menu. I typed *#*#7378423#*#* and accessed the calibration menu and selected Proximity sensor menu.
It showed Autoscreen Brightness On and Proximity Switch OFF. I switched Autoscreen Brightness off (other wise the calibrate option is grayed out) and tried to calibrate the proximity sensor. I got the error -99 and the message that it cannot be done.
1. How do I switch on the Proximity sensor on
2. Will the calibrate option work if the phone is factory reset (there is a message which says - Pls factory reset the phone before calibrating).
Thanks in advance.
I'm tired of this bug too, got first one replaced (yellow tint, black screen + backlight on, proximity sensor) but I still have this sensor bugged, I have to stop the "power button ends call" option because of that!

I found that the switch gets turned on when I place my finger near the Proximity Sensor :silly:
But the screen still does not dim when answering the call nor does it come on again once the call is finished..
my touchscreen got cracked and i had to install a new screen assembly and probably the new screen has some problem with proximity sensor or while installing the proximity sensor got covered by the adhesive finally the proximity sensor shows up as always ON. i want to disable this completely. so how do i do this in z1. iam using the new kitkat build. the gsm.proximity.enable=false in build.prop isnt working. hardware disabler app dosent scan anything in / directory. and ive tried using xprivacy to block phone app from accessing the sensors it wont work either..as soon as i make a call the screen goes off the only way to get my screen on is when the other caller hangs up and the call has completely ended.
someone help me plz
Well, after an accident, my Nexus 6 was dropped to the ground.
And because of that, there were some cracks on the screen.
It is still functioning and usable, but the proximity sensor is no longer working.
The spot in the screen where the proximity sensor is located, it is badly cracked/scratched.
Because of this, during phone call, the screen goes blank and there is no way I can turn it back on.
Sometimes, I need to do something during phone call, like pressing the keypad button.
Is there any solution or workaround to this via software / app? Because I don't want to spend any money replacing the screen.
Probably 3rd party dialer app which can disable the proximity sensore?
Or toggle the screen on / off using volume button ...
Or any other way ...
Thank you.

Install XPOSED FRAMEWORK -> Install module Sensor Disabler [Disables proximity] and reboot

Hello guys, I am using Resurrection remix 6.1 (Android Oreo 8.1) ROM on my Redmi 4a,
Unfortunately my display was broken and I had to replace it with another display, the service center guy missed the proximity rubber while installing the display and now my display shows always near (0cm) value on my proximity sensor.
So when I make a call screen automatically turns off and can't be turned on until next person puts an end to the call, I am unable to put calls on speaker, unable to merge calls and even unable to look for contact while call is ongoing.
In earlier version of Android 6.0 and less there was an option to disable proximity sensor in call settings, but Oreo and even nougat also don't have option to disable proximity sensor.
I have searched on internet and was unable to look for an option to disable proximity sensor, there is an app called sensor disable but it need xposed installed, and I am not sure if Rolex support xposed as xposed is in beta condition for 8.1 roms, my device is however rooted with magisk manager.
Any suggestions, guides, instructions or solutions will be appreciated..
Try to the Xposed module Sensor Disabler. It might take some reboots and after every reboot you have to disable the sensor again (or force a different value)
hi guys, i noticed that my phone's "lift to check" and "double tap to wake" aren't working sometimes, and the screen went black when i make a call. therefor i downloaded sensor test app and figure out those are caused by proximity sensor stopped working occasionally, especially when i take it out from my pocket, i had to restart my phone to make it works again.
i searched over the internet and tried all the ways but still no luck. Action taken included boot to safe mode, clear the cache of phone app/ google framework/ google services, android ambient and etc... and i also reset the app preference, download sensor calibration app, factory reset, yet, the problem still appear. i have used my phone for more than a year, and this issue was just suddenly poped out recently.
appreciated if anyone here could provide a solution. Thanks
