Lags & Freezes on Note 9 after updating to Android Pie - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hello guys, i did hard reset n then installed Samsung Official Note 9 Android pie update via odin. After 2-3 days of usage i get lags n freezes here n there. Like sometimes home & back button lags, wakeup lockscreen delays. It takes some time screen to wake up. Overall mobile usage becomes very slow & laggy. And then when i restart my phone everything becomes to normal. Is anybody else facing this issue after updating to Pie

I've noticed an occasional delay on screen wake up since Pie update. Just enough of it to make me notice it. No other issues.

After updating to Pie, the only issue I'm having is with the browser. When I go into the browser and try to search something, it freezes. The only fix is to close the tab and open a new tab. It only happens with the first search. It's very frustrating and I'm not sure how to fix it.

Looks like i solved the problem.
I removed and added my exchange account and now everything seems fine.

Yesterday i updated my SGS yo Android 2.2 and after doing that the phone is so slow i can hardly use it.
My phone hasn't been problematically slow on 2.1, small lags here and there but over all performing good. Examples of the issues are the alarm app hanging and eventually crashing upon setting an alarm, LauncherPro crashing after unlocking.
When typing something in to Google or any other web page it takes forever for the keyboard to appear. Opening the email app also takes very long and sometimes crashes.
The crashing applies to all software that is slow, now and then it crashes. Before the update i hardly ever experienced crashing, now it happens 10 times + a day.
The phone is not rooted and i haven't done anything but use the official update through kies.
I'm running Juice Defender and Advanced Task Manager.
Any feedback is appreciated.

[Q] Stock 2.3.3 issues [other than battery problems]

Note: I just blogged about it and planning on posting on few Googler's twitter to see if we can get some attention to fix these issues, if they already haven't started looking in to these! If you are interested, please visit "Is the latest Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3) OTA update for Nexus One buggy? "and share your experience with Android 2.3.3 on your NexusOne's the Android team can get a bigger picture of these issues! More the merrier!
By now, I have reset to factory default couple of times but still after about 50hrs of usage my Nexus One starts acting freaky! Performance slows down, launching apps gives me black screen, lock screen freezes until I receive a call and not answer it and finally forcing me to reboot the phone.
Is anyone else aware of these issues or experiencing these issues?
I've had a few, repeated issues since upgrading to Gingerbread:
The stock messaging application will sometimes crash after sending a text message. The message gets sent, but the program closes out and returns me to the home screen. When I try to get back into the app, it animates like it is opening, animates like its closing and then gives me an error message about it not responding. I have found the only way to get rid of this is to reboot the phone.
Occasionally, all of the items - icons, widgets, etc - will disappear from the home screen. All I can see is my background image (just a plain JPEG, nothing animated) and cant get anything else to happen. I've tried to give it a few minutes (coming from Windows Mobile, I've learned to be patient) but it never came back. As expected, only a full reboot of the phone fixed the problem.
I've been having strange WiFi and data connection problems. Sometimes when connecting to WiFi it takes several minutes to establish a working connection; however most times it is pretty instant. The data connection will sometimes completely drop out and not come back on its own - even in areas with known good signal (I'm on AT&T, insert jokes here). Again, the best solution I've found is a full reboot.
I have heard some reports from friends that they have experienced issues with Exchange support after the upgrade, but I haven't seen it personally. Other than those above issues (which are very annoying) Gingerbread is has been OK. As I like to tell everyone, I'm sure glad my phone makes a cool TV of animation but can't seem to want to send text messages... Thanks Google?

You are right, I've been having those home screen issues as well, though my wifi connectivity seems to be fine so far.

I can confirm Gingerbread on my N1 facing similar problem. Riddled with bugs such as battery drain, Wifi, Exchange Server, Date format on Notification Bar, Awake forever, just to name a few.
REverted back to 2.2.2 More stable amid less 'cheeky' in term of UI.
Also had force close issues with launcher and other programs getting a black screen after about 2 days without a reboot. Got tired of it and went back to Froyo
I've had trackball notification issues. First it stopped working entirely. After a restore it now only blinks notifications if the screen is off. Once the screen is turned on (even if the phone isn't unlocked) it stops. If the screen is on when the notification is recieved nothing happens.
I'm experiencing battery drain that i believe is associated with maps and location services (the alogcat shows it checking in all the time!).
I've had the launcher become unresponsive to touch. You can use the trackball to navigate, its slow, and once you're inside an app it works fine. Need to restart.
I've had the blank keyboard show up and need to restart.
I'm probably going to switch back to 2.2.2 tonight...
Wow! The issue seems to have touched a lot of NexusOne's. I just blogged about it and planning on posting on few Googler's twitter to see if we can get some attention to fix these issues, if they already haven't started looking in to these! I have also been affected by the "black screen" problem after about 48 hours uptime. Returning to the home screen shows just the wallpaper and no icons. Pressing the "Home" button worked for a while to bring back the icons, but eventually most apps started showing some black screens and I had to reboot to fix the problem. I'm sticking with Gingerbread 2.3.3 for now, but it is disturbing after the multi-week uptimes I was getting under FroYo 2.2.2.

How much lag is too much?

I'm curious if anyone else is finding the phone a bit too laggy, or if it's just my setup. I tap an icon or a soft key and there's a 1-2 second delay while the phone thinks about it. I move the phone away from my face when finishing a call and the screen takes 2-3 seconds to reactivate so I can actually tap end to end the call. Is this normal in your experience?
I seem to recall there was not this much lag when I first got the phone, but the odd thing is that I haven't really installed any more apps. I do use Nova, but I don't have any social apps running in the background or GPS enabled or bluetooth enabled. Just WiFi and 3G. I also turned off nearly all the Google services.

I have quite the opposite opinion of yours. My phone flies

The phone is fast for me as well, even recent apps have no delay (there was LAG when GravityBox was installed).
However, I notice the phone call issue you having, selecting the contact and press call, takes 1-2 seconds to get through (no visible UI lag) and after finishing the call, it takes the same amount of time while the CallUI goes away.

The "after the call" thing you mentioned isn't a bug. It's there so you can "Call back".

no lag here, phone flies. have been stock from day one, it's been four months now. recent apps, transitions, opening and closing apps = all fast. there is the noted lag when starting the camera from the shutter button, and not consistently responsive Tap2Wake, but once the screen is lit up and i'm doing things, i'm happy.
re: finishing a call. just got off the phone a little while ago, and didn't notice any slow behaviour -- certainly nothing like a 2-3 second delay to come on.
OK, so I guess I might have a problem. The weird thing is that sometimes there's a lag launching an app and other times there's not. Must be something running in the background messing with it, not that I normally have much running.
The phone call thing is really annoying though, and has become worse since the firmware update. Often I will have to push the button to get the screen to light up when I want to end a call. It's like the proximity sensor just refuses to do its thing. Guess I'll wait for Lollipop to see if that changes anything.

[Question] EuphoriaOS 1.1 Freezing/Restarting/UI Unresponsive

Hi. I tried to post in the EuphoriaOS thread, but I don't have enough posts to say something in the development section.
My Nexus 6 is currently using the latest official EuphoriaOS 1.1 and everything has been great up until about a month ago.
This happens sporadically. My phone will start to freeze in the middle of doing anything.
Ex1. I'm listening to Spotify and my music will freeze every 10 seconds or so. Instead of being like a normal skip, it picks up exactly where it left off.
Ex2. I push the power button to wake my phone, but nothing happens for ~3 seconds. Pushing it again will bring up my lockscreen, but my lockscreen is totally unresponsive, so I can't unlock my phone. I can use the power button to turn the screen back off. Then I will wake it again like normal, and It unlocks just fine.
Ex3. My UI in general becomes sluggish and at times completely unresponsive.
Ex4. My phone will just restart randomly. It has done it numerous times each in different applications. I haven't been able to pinpoint a cause.
I enjoy using Euphoria and do not want to update to any Marshmallow ROMs because I have everything the way I like it. My battery is great and Marshmallow currently doesn't have Xposed.
I haven't really installed anything new since before these issues started. They just happened out of the blue.
This stuff happens maybe every couple days at totally random times.
Could anyone help me in trying to fix the issues I'm having?

Nokia 8 Sudden Restart occurred Randomly

To all Nokia 8 users, have you ever had any issues that sometimes your Nokia 8 starts to freeze seconds and then restart by itself? It doesn't happen once but multiple times. It happens sometimes when you are trying to do something like playing game or opening Google play app. However, since booting to OS and if you leave it be until like many hours later, it won't go sudden restart. Only when you do activities, will it suddenly restart.
Why is this happening? The ROM and app are the same as it be and didn't happen long ago. It only happens like two days ago.
I hope users of Nokia 8 experts have solution to this issue. Thank you
EDITED: I found out the real cause. Although this is hypothesis, it seems GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES is the culprit. I noticed it just force closes and then whenever I launched any apps that have something to do with play services, it just goes into bootloop.
Can anyone confirm this?

I don't have this problem but you can try to clear the cache and data of play services in application setting.

Did that. Didn't work. Only by freezing this Google play services, does the Bootloop stop happening. The consequences are the any app that uses Google play services like YouTube will not run well.
Also, I tried installing Gapps using TWRP flashing via zip. But that doesn't solve the problem. Why.....
I've came from a Nexus 5x and a Nexus 6p and the word bootloop gives me goosebumps
Does your phone reboot when you open the stock camera ?

No. Never open Stock camera. Just any apps that have something to do with google play services.
Do you use sd card? because i have the same problem here
I got not only the same issue but also the problem with sounds after update to Pie. And i realize when i put my phone in the charger, issues stop; when i put it out issues happen again and again...

I got the same problem. When my phone's battery drops to 60% or lower it restarts whenever I spend some time surfing the net or opening up the stock camera, with the addition of removing my fingerprint scan every time it restarts that way. However, these issues immediately stop when I plug my phone to its charger. I thought the security update fixed these but sadly it didn't.
I have the exact same issue.
I got my Nokia 8 (ta-1012) one month ago and it occurred about 10 times.
It occurs frequently when I'm using the UI too much, for example, lower volume and hiring it too fast, touching many UI elements and swapping quickly between apps etc..
It freezes for like 10seconds and it restarts quickly, that is, just the UI.
I'm on Oreo BTW. Can anyone confirm having that issue on nougat ?
This happens with me..on camera and games

I solved my problem, i brought my phone to Nokia care center and they replaced my battery with the new one. Thats battery problem, thats all.
May I ask what was the cost of battery?
I just downgraded to Nougat 7.1.1 and for now, the issue of restarting is gone !
Please confirm that if someone is on Nougat.
Even i have the same problem for my nokia 8. Is there any solution to rectify it.

I was on Pie, from where I downgraded to Oreo the problem persisted, then I downgraded to Nougat and the issue is the same, I play a game or video it starts to stutter, even if the video is streaming online or downloaded and being played from memory/rom. I initially thought it was software issue but it seems that I was wrong, I wasted too many hours and bandwidth just downgrading. Now the issue is that I have voided my warranty by unlocking the bootloader, what are my options? as someone said they have gotten the battery replaced. How much does it costs? I am 100% convinced that its battery related issue as when I plug my phone in the charger then all goes fine.
Using Nokia 8 (TA-1004)
My phone started having the same trouble a couple of months ago, it all started with the camera app. Now things are so bad that as sOon as I enter security pin and the home screen appears, the phone restaerts...and it keeps happening until I plug in the charger. This happens even when the battery is 95%. Can't even touch it!!!
I was so excited to get this phone, although everyone told me not to... but I was in love with it... and "Grief is the Price we pay for Love", right?
How could the battery get so weak with average use in just 9-10 months? And how could so many users start experiencing the same problem all at once?
Any help shall be appreciated!
To be sure about your battery , First put your mobile on safe mode for 7 days and notice if restart will happen again or not? also notice battey consumption and charging rapidly mode.-
I was having same problem for last few months , when I put my nokia 8 on safe mode (Restart while pressing down volume button) ,the Restarting problem did not happen even once for 7 days, So I discovered that it is software problem that cause system to hang and restart and consume battery.. Then I discover that " many months ago on android Oreo" I was making changes in Devoloper mode To stop and prevent application from running in background , This was nice on oreo but on Android Pie it cause conflect and system hang with some application that refuse to stop causing system restart.. All problem had gone after allowing application to work again in background normally .. Till now for about one month no single restart >> Also , Rapidly charging mode working nice but unfournatly battery consumption Still high.
I have the same problem with Nokia 8 . Sudden restart and issue with sound at times. Anyone knows the reason, and the fix for it would be appreciated

i have the same problem and after having knowledege about it,i came to a point that this is a software issue as it contains bugs. .
I have the same problem too .
I noticed it a couple of months ago but It could've start long before and I just didn't noticed it.
With Oreo I'm quite sure it never happened.
Reboots randomly once a day (more or less) it happened just 10 min. ago,the phone was on the desk close to me so I had the opportunity to observe it "live"...it was in standby and no app was apparently running .
Quite strange anyway,I'm pretty sure it's a software issue;the battery seems still in health (no unmotivated drain).
Nothing dramatically serious anyway, just strange...there must be a way to fix it...

Following your advice,I just tried changing at the voice" app/backgroud processes" in Developer mode from "standard" to " allow max 4 processes";I don't know what's intended for "standard" value but something should change...let's see and x fingers
