I'm on stable Emui 9.0
And I've been having an issue about low ram availability
If I have even 4-7 apps open my available ram drops to 1gb or less, and it's never above 2gb... As well as some of my apps keep restarting even during the multitasking.
Is there any way to fix this ram management issue?

It's a bug with emui 9. There's no solution as such.
Some people say switching to 720p resolution and managing apps under battery settings helps

It makes no difference. No amount of fiddling with settings does anything to tame the aggressive memory management.

Ideally they should but you never know when or if they will do so.
I suffered the aggressive memory management, which only started when the phone updated to Android pie, I already had my phone set up with battery optimization opt outs, locking apps so they would not close, worked wonderfully on Android 8....... Thankfully for me, my mobile phone contract was due for renewal, so I got a OnePlus 6t and sent the honor play back for a full refund.... I'm glad I did, the oneplus 6t works perfectly and performs wonderfully, just like my Honor play did..... Until the Android Pie update...... I'm shocked they still have not at least sent out some kind of hot fix patch.....
I tried lowering the resolution etc, it does not fix the problem.

Is this happening to all the honor play devices, or only certain peoples phones, because the units reviewed on YouTube didn't seem to have any bug
But the problem only begun when the new update in January was released....

The problem came with android pie, it was fine on Oreo. Most reviews were done on oreo. Also most reviewers use the device for only a week before the review so they probably don't notice the issue.

Many people complain same with Honor 10 4gb variant, so it is definately EMUI9.
Update
I just got the latest update that came out "9.0.0.184"
I was hoping the ram problem would be fixed but I'm pretty it wasn't changed at all... Still getting around only 1.2-1.4gb of ram available... And some apps like reddit keep reloading
While my old honor 7x on oreo has 2-2.3gb available even with multiple apps open.
Periodically restarting the phone seems to temporarily increase the ram but for only near half an hour.
(when I restart the phone the ram shows 2.xxgb but then suddenly updates and shows 1.3 or 1.4gb) is that a display issue or is that much ram being used when the phone is rebooted.
Hello everyone, I noticed the same problems since the update Pie. After restarting the phone, there is 2 gigabytes available but after a short day, the ram used by the system in options dev and current service rises up to 2.5, 3 gigabytes used by the system.
The only solution I found was to restart the phone.
I tried to see what was happening, without result.
I did not have this problem with the Oreo version
This is really an issue in Honor Play 4GB Android Pie. Even my Google Play Store tends to disappear sometimes. I hope Huawei includes a fix in the next patch.
You are naive. This smartphone is already dead for Huawei.
Update 9.0.0.0.184 is the end of technical support for this model.

I think the nf6 is an older build
The build number ended "NF8" on June 18th ( 4.4.2_0016). It's now "NFB" June 30th (4.4.2_18) The kernel also changed.
Well now that I'm rooted gonna wait on some roms before flashing an OTA that might lose root.

Perhaps it is via OTA. Via Kies it was 2GB.
What Is kies and where do I find it?
The OTA said it was for "platform and stability" improvements. Maybe they tweaked the TouchWiz, that some owners say, was causing some stutter/lag.
My 8.4 Just updated and its Build Number is ending in ANF9. Seems as though the performance has picked up a lot, no longer any lag when swiping left to the quick briefing page and calender page. It actually feels really nice right now. Good Job Sammy!
Also looks like RAM has been optimized quite a bit. with all default apps running im sitting at 1.3G free space. I never checked really until now, but hey whens the last time you used a samsung device and had more than 5-600MB of RAM free by default anyways lol!
No update on mine yet (BTU). Still on NF7. Least I have something to look forward too. Am hoping they tweak the battery to last longer with normal useage.
Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk
Can anyone, who download the 2GB file from KIES , screenshot their system info? I want to see if it differs from mine. Thank you..
I got the update today, I can confirm that touchwiz performance does seem improved. It also seemed to greatly improved my wifi, I am now able to stream full blue ray HD wireless with little to no hiccups.
Beyond that general system performance seems about the same and benchmarks have not changed.
Definitely a good update, not sure if I hosed myself in terms of root though.
Well considering the fact we have no idea when anyone will ever cook off a rom for us I went ahead and ran the update. Can't really notice any difference but then again I wasn't running TouchWiz anyway. Of course now I no longer have root.
Wondering if we need a brand new root with this update?

Yeah I hadn't rooted yet, but will want to eventually.
Definitely seems to be mostly around touchwiz, curious if others see the wifi streaming improvement. Before the update I needed bump plex down to 12mbit and bsplayer wouldn't stream anything smooth, now I have plex running at 20mbit and bsplayer can play compatible videos directly even full blue ray h.264 videos.
I can also confirm that memory usage in default state is considerably lower, though not sure that's of much import given how android allocates memory.
Was hoping the floating multi window for the pro would show up, but no luck
There may be something to the improved WiFi speeds and streaming. I notice that YouTube videos load pretty much instantaneously and stream without hiccup. Dunno, maybe placebo effect but does seem quite good.
Update: Confirmed improved streaming. Cranked up Star Trek Into Darkness on Netflix. It started much faster than previously and full HD quality resolved in about half the time. Pleased.

Just reflash the original cf auto root.
Update to the latest version via Kies. Lost root but the previous root method still work for the 10.5.
Touchwiz is so much better I've abandoned go launcher and gone back to touchwiz, my scrolling widgets are much faster in touchwiz than go launcher now.
Glad to hear root still works. I'll be rooting as soon as I'm past my 45 day return period
Just go to HiCare and apply for update. Downloading now

This morning. FIG-LX1, Italy, was in beta program.
Since EMUI 9.1 (FIG-LX1 in Italy) I have noticed:
- less RAM available in daily use (first around 1.7-1.8 on average, now around 1-1.3)
- the only wifi I use is at home, but now Wi-Fi + does not automatically turn off wifi when I leave home and don't wake it up when I come back (yes with EMUI 8)
- the Facebook app does not hide notifications in the notifications section (at the moment it seems so, but when the app is reopened there are still all of them)

you definitely must wipe cache at least, or reset the phone, since obviously you have some kind of conflicts in software; update is very ok

only thing i noticed - the weather app - has some mix of old icons and new (?) cartoonish icons in the city list - looks like its been made in word art - 94 edition - i really dk why they cant give the stock weather app more love?!!!!

For me
1) qr code in camera app is way faster
2) camera doesnt heat up the phone now
3) gaming also runs cooler
4) animations are better
5) expect an sot of 1h more than you got with april update.
Looking for more changes ..

I think samsung is doing a great job ,
I was about to trade off my s21 ultra with mi 11 ultra , but this update has stopped me doing so.
I can't wait until my phone recieve the update.
This is so promising that samsung still fixing and adding new features every month.
I would say a 10% better everything even though it might be a placebo. All running smooth. Used the camera a lot today for pics and videos. Youtube, browsing and etc, and now 3:33 SOT and battery at 46%. I guess that may be a tad better than before. Camera seems better too somehow.

I think they are moving towards apple kind of ecosystem and software.
And if they can do that , i am not leaving samsung for as long as they maintain that .
They still need to work on animations , accidental touches, and 60-120 hz management in some apps

wise advice. I only use one time to install PHE before change CSC, then always wait for OTA
OKay, will wait it out then. Last month I received the update on April 9th; so this time I presume it will be similarly timed.
I'm able to achieve 10hours Sot (48 hours cycle) on this release, prior to that the sot was in the 8/9 hours. I mostly use browser, youtube, youtube music and ocasional gaming (Wild Rift)
On Vodafone model in UK so I expect it will be a couple of weeks before I get this but it sounds like it makes what is already one of the best phones money can buy even better.

If you can see the new cpu performance setting on device care (with the option: maximum, instead of just: balanced and high), so you officially got the features of OneUI 3.1.1 (like international users).
They're screwing you up, this update is all about installing spyware and ****, that's why they didn't even think about changing the description.
^ wow! that's the most morose take i've ever seen for a fw update
Doesn't seem to have the cpu performance setting, it still just shows adapative and enhanced processing options only....

Oh okay, I don't have three options but I had that once in time in my older S20 Ultra but disappeared later with newer SW.

Guess Samsung will add it again with the newer update, always based on 3.1 but with some features taken from 3.1.1.

I'm curious about those 3 power options affecting the overall performance of the CPU, could someone run Geekbench5 on all 3? I'd give it some time space in between to cool the phone down for each test. Thanks in advance.
