I am facing a strange problem on my V40 (Indian variant).
It has no issues in connecting to my car's head-unit automatically (after the initial pairing), however, once i get out of my car (Bluetooth still on) and then plug-in my earphones (headset which came with the box), it thinks i am connected to a call and shows the "in-call" volume controls whenever i try to adjust volume. Also, the sound is very distorted at lower levels (<10%) and toggling the quad-dac option does not have an effect..
This persists even if i switch off blue tooth on my phone.
Only if i do a restart, the phone again recognizes the earphones properly (and quad-dac works again).
Tried this with various headsets (earphones with mic) and result is same; also tried clearing cache/doing a factory reset but the problem still persists. Note that it doesn't happen when I plug-in a earphone/headset without mic (it works properly as expected); but the issue is when we plug-in an earphone with mic.
Are any of you facing a similar issue, i googled but could not find a resolution. :crying:

I have my Diamond paired to my car stereo for handsfree and audio playback. When I start the car I see the stereo connect to the phone and then about 2 seconds later the stereo switches to the bluetooth input and then 4-5 seconds later switches back to the radio or my ipod. During that 4-5 seconds I hear nothing.
Last week I installed one of DonSolari's ROMs and my phone stopped doing this, I didn't like the ROM so I switched it to a different one and the problem returned.
I think it is being caused by the phone making a sound when it pairs to the stereo. Any other noise made by the phone causes the same thing to happen, you never hear the noise presumably because it has already stopped by the time the input is active.
The ROM I'm using has sense 2.5 so I don't have access to the standard windows sounds screen, does anyone know the name of the .exe for this screen or another way of disabling this sound.
Hi, my O2X suddenly started having audio problems while I was unplugging/pugging in my headphones.
Audio is distorted while headphones are plugged in, and the headphone symbol now has a mic attached. This leads me to think that it's a problem with the jack. But I can't see why that would suddenly happen.
I've tried other headphones, to no avail. The audio is ok without headphones. Tried updating to a recent cm.
Attached a screenshot of the headphone symbol with the mic.
Please help me!
Update:
I tried connecting a microphone, and it does record correctly.
But audio is still distorted while connecting a regular headset. I've tried cleaning out the jack, to no avail.
Is there a way to force the phone to think that I've not connected a mic?
Hi,
I have a strange problem with an i9000 i got second hand.
The phone would not go to headset mode with normal headphones (without mic).
It would sometimes go to headset mode with headphones that have a mic (usually after making a call), but would go in and out of headset mode, stopping music and video playback.
When i start a call i would hear through the phone speaker for about 2 seconds and then it would go to headset mode (meaning silence). Then if i connect stereo headphones i can hear the other person, but the phone would freeze. if i connect a headset (with mic) then everything is ok (audio through headset).
What i have ALREADY tried:
Performed a software cleanup (as well as formatted the internal SD and tried a lot of ROMS and kernels).
Replaced the headphone jack.
Cleaned the contacts where the headphone jack replacement connects on the board.
Still the same problem.
I have no warranty on the phone.
Any ideas?
No one?
Please help, my phone is unusable.
Hmm i'm not sure but I think it's a hardware problem.
I think so too, but i have already replaced the headphone jack.
Could it be on the board itself?
Is there an app or a mod i can use to force headset/speaker mode?
I've never heard of such an app, so I don't know if there's one.

Anyone have those headset and tried to connect to our phone. Im facing problem cause after connecting that headset phone volume goes down. Connecting other headsets do not make problems and connecting NuForce NE-600x to other phones also do not make any problem. Only z3c and NuForce NE-600x makes problem. Solution? Same problem?
Hello,
Did you try to change Headphone type under Setting>Sound>Audio Setting>Headphones
or changing ClearAudio+
Also could you explain more about "after connecting that headset phone volume goes down" do you mean the voice in headset is Low
if so i think that normal since Smartphone lower the voice to lower the harm of high volume, if not please clarify thanks.
No. It seems like after connecting headset the button of volume down is beeing continously pushed.
Weird problem, no "media" related sounds. Alarm, calls, ringtone work perfectly
Hello, for some reason in the last couple of days i can hear no media related sound.
What's weird though is that i can hear normally call sounds, phone ringing and alarm.
The issue started while on the latest version of MIUI. I thought this was related with operating system so I installed Pixel Experience 10 (through complete wipe out, even internal storage). The problem persists there as well.
After looking around, it looks like people had similar issue when the phone mistakenly thought headphones were connected. As it turns out, this is not the case with me. (see 2nd post)
Edit #2:
It looks like it's indeed the "earphone mode" thats causing the problem. Using the aerphone mode off app I managed to get media sound playing again. The problem now is that as soon as i close the app, earphone phone turns back on. Any ideas for permanent fix are welcome.
Thanks
looking around, it looks like the phone might somehow got stuck in like "headphones connected" mode.
I've never connected in the past with any kind of headphones, but i got the charging port changed.
In any case i've tried connecting and disconnecting with Bluetooth headphones but didn't solve the problem.
I will see if i can get my hands on any type-c ones and try again.
Edit: i see there is an option to select the audio output device, and the phone is the only choice, so the headphones mode wasn't the problem
