I can't find any mention of waterproofing, may be it's not?

It does not have any certification for splash resistance, or water resistance as far as I'm aware, including IP68

Is it waterproof?

Just to make sure, my model number is sm-r382. I was wondering if it's waterproof?
No its water resistant only.

IP67 is resistant to splashing and at most a shower. I wouldn't swim with it on. I don't even shower with it on.

IP67 means it protected dust and water immersion of up to 1 meter (about 3.3 feet) for up to 30 minutes.

[Q] Water Resistance?

Does anyone know if the Nexus 6 has an IP rating like the Sony Z3?
On the promo video they show it in a tank, Motorola's site shows water resistance as well. I would assume that if it can be dropped in a tank, the water resistance is at least on par with the Sony Z2?

Its supposedly the same as the Moto X. Water resistance through a nano coating. Not meant to be submerged, but can survive the occasional puddle/toilet plunge...

That's what I assumed as well, but did you happen to see the image on the link I provided? They show it in a tank and also show someone swimming with it.
It's the same water resistant coating found on the current Moto X. It'll protect the phone from splashes, and perhaps a quick accidental dip into the tub, but don't expect to swim with it like a Z2 or Z3.
Barely realized I got ninja'd

I saw it. Not saying it wouldn't survive that. But I'm sure they'll have a more detailed explanation as to how long it can

If you look at their graphic of the phone in the fishtank, at the top of the "forehead" of the phone, it says SAMSUNG.
What forum am I in again?
Do you guys think it will do fine in rain?
As someone who happens to play Ingress, I prefer not having to sandwich-bag my phone every time there is a drizzle.

Yes rain s/b fine, there are You Tubes somewhere that show a guy dunking his Moto X in a glass and it survives.
The Nexus 6, like previous Motorola phones, will be water resistant. This means that it can survive (small) spills and it will probably be safe to use out in (light) rain. I wouldn't try submerging this phone or using it in the shower though. Lol

don't think so !
Just as an update, the other night i tried the customer service chat with Motorola to see if they could elaborate on the "Water Resistant - Yes" spec.... if they had an idea what the resistance rating was. Was told that at this time, they have no information as to what the resistance rating is, and to check the site periodically for any updates. Doesn't really help much... but figured i'd mention it.

Waterproof case for the N6?

Anyone know of a waterproof case for the N6? Something similar to a lifeproof case, perhaps? I know its water resistant, but looking for waterproof.
I believe the Nexus 6 is IP67 rated - 1 meter submersion in water for 30 minutes with no damaging ingress of water.

It's not it's only splash resistant like the moto x due to the nano coating
So this isn't scientific or from the manufacturer, but some guys did an IP67 test and the Moto X passed. The moto website only says "water resistant" which is horribly ambiguous. The Nexus 6 has the same water resistant tech.
[can't post link]
I'm an electronics engineer, and a few of our products are "IP67" rated. A lot of times the manufacturer will not state or guarantee the IP67 rating because some devices will inevitably get water damage and then customers get pissed because they think waterproof means water invincible.
I would bet the Nexus 6 will pass the IP67 test every time - provided the device is new and the seals aren't damaged and you haven't dropped it too much.

Interesting. I watched a Motox review that showed the opposite--phone stopped working after a couple minutes in a kitchen sink.
My theory could very well be wrong. Search "submersion test" at androidpit.com.
Everyone should tweet lifeproof to let them know there is a demand. The nuud would be awesome for this device.
One of the YouTube videos I watched on the nexus 6 had it submerged in a bath tub and it worked fine.

nexus 6 lifeproof case
What about sending an email to lifeproof for a nexus 6 case from the nüüd series? Would that help?
The nexus is not nearly popular enough for lifeproof to make a case. They only do iphones, galaxy s series, and the droid turbo. They only did the turbo as part of a deal with Verizon because Verizon is most likely their largest customer.
What are you planning?
Looks good enough for me.

I have a couple of these. I hate em lol.
I use my phone in the rain snow and water fell on it here and there no issues. What are you gonna go take photos of Atlantis? Lol
I'm looking for a case myself. This spring I will be riding ATV's in the dirt/mud/water etc, and want to fully protect my phone. Sure, I could drop a sim in my S4 and grab a lifeproof for that but would prefer to bring my normal phone with me.
My ultimate goal is to handle-bar mount it, paired with a go-pro.

Yeah I was thinking similarly for my Mountain Bike.
I just want to use mine in the shower in the morning, but scared the steam and water will still get in despite the nano coating

Even IP67 certified stuff could get water damage if you accidentally put the device right in the stream of water

Don't do this. The heated water/steam will damage it without a good case designed for water proof.

Mate S - waterproof / water resistant?

I read that Mate S is water resistant, but I wonder which model - chinese only (with ForceTouch) or any available?

I has a water resistant coating, but you cannot take it under water.
And how this water resistant coating works actually? Can it protect audio jack, micro-USB, speaker or microphones against raindrops?

What does IP65/68 mean?

I guess the title is quite straightforward. The gsmarena and the box itself show "IP65/68" and it confuses me a bit. Is it 65 or 68 or something else?
It means it has both certificates: IP65 and IP68.

But 68 has the 65's characteristics already included, why bother pointing it out?
Could be that they went first for the IP65, then tried 68. I can't find official information.

Neither can I. I just want to find out to what extent is my phone officially waterproof.
It's officially ip68. I've dipped mine in water a couple of times. No damage.

No it doesn't.
IP6x is dust protected.
IPX5 is protected against low power spray.
IPX8 is protected against immersion.
You can be priced against immersion but not spray, or protected against spray and not immersion. The system doesn't mean you are protected against everything that has a smaller number.

Yes, water sprayed into a Port for example can damage it do to higher pressures exerted on the Port then static immersion.
