Hi, when i'm searching for a certain contact United, every single contact in my 1700 person list is coming up because they're all located in the United States. how do i restrict the search to only name and company name fields?

I have put country codes in all my contacts (local and international).
When I get a call from any local number, it won't show the name, just the number without the country code. (i.e. the number will not be matched to my contacts)
If I get a call from an international number, the phone will show the name and the number.
If I remove the country code from my local numbers, it is matched to the contact.
Am I doing something wrong?
Is there a solution to this problem?

After trying to attend a movie last night and having my phone vibrate the snot out of my pocket i have a question regarding the name display feature of the SGS.
Now i know my provider supports it as when i am recieving a call it displays the name if it is not in the contacts list. But what i am wondering is if it stores that name somewhere. Its kind of pointless to have the feature when 50% of its use is none functional.
If the SGS doesn't store the number is there a hack or a app that can be applied to store these missed call names? TIA!
that is a very good question.
i know in Fido/Rogers we have to paid extra for that display name feature (even when not in your address book)
i can almost bet it doesn't store the name displayed, as if you look at the phone log, it will only display the phone number without the name

The feature is included in my plan. I was actually quite shocked that it doesn't store the name. Just the number. There has to be some mod to store the name as well. The information is captured by the device when the call is incoming so it has to be able to be grabbed by some other app.
I'll like that, i wonder if any Dev have created an App for that
So... Im getting calls from random 1800 numbers. After googling them, i found it its from rogers. To whom i asked when purchasing the phone to keep me off the telemarketing calls list.
I want to play a simple prank. Any time they call, i want to redirect the number to their own toll free support line. So my question is, how do i set a specific number to redirect to another number of my choice?
Thanks
I don't think its apt for this question to belong here.
I have Nite 5 SM-N9208 Dual Sim and all my contacts from google account
Whenever I receive an incoming call, half the time the the caller ID doesn't work and only numbers are shown.
plz some one can help me to fix it
I had this issue with my dual SIM note 4.
I don't know the reason for the inconsistency but I suspect it's the carrier's settings on different cell towers (might be wrong)...anyway, you just have to save the number in the different formats under the same contact.
e.g. john doe -
1) 555-5555
2) (3 digit country code)-555-5555
3) +1-(3 digit country code)-555-5555
Strange that dual SIMs aren't 'intelligent' enough to recognize that they are all the same phone number.
This problem seems to be as old as Android itself.
A little searching and it looks like the problem lies in the number matching required in the different ROM's
Contacts are stored within Contacts Provider. One of the attribute for contact is a "min_match"
attribute which stores a part of the whole number (from right to left) that has to be used when matching Caller ID to
contact. The length of the min_match attribute is defined in the telephony framework.
It is good practice to keep the MIN_MATCH length to max 7 (typically it takes 6 numbers from the right
+ 1 number from local prefix - for our example above min_match would be: 2xxxyyy
However, some official ROMs have the MIN_MATCH constant too high making it impossible to match
numbers stored in local format to full caller ID received from operator. (It was 11 in my case!!!)
(+421 902 xxx yyy != 0902 xxx yyy)

Most of the solutions require root which i don't have right now, leaving the only solution to have 2 phone No entries for each of my contacts.
Hoping someone can come up with something a little more slick!
All while using the Mix in the USA on AT&T I have found that that certain Apps like Outlook or Blackberry HUB App ( Which Includes Calendar ,etc) have a problem when setting a calendar invite with Time Zone setting.
Just to explain:
a) While traveling with the phone time settings on automatic from network. The time is aligned with the local time no issue
b) Now you create a calendar invite for an event let's say in a different USA time zone. The apps work by getting the phone OS settings ( time, current location, etc) and when you create the invite all the receivers will see the right times for their zones
c) This does not occur. The calendar invite on the phone shows the current time zone info but the receivers see a different time zone in some cases things that do not match even USA time zone
d) When researching this I found that the Locale Setting impacts the App's. The Mix does not have a USA locale and leaving it on China or Mexico will give the same issue
The same locale issue seems to be the culprit for the whole MMS issue for the phone
Not having both of these creates a conflict on the Xiaomi Mix that other International phones don't have . Huawei, ZTE, Vivo, LeEco, Asus, etc.
Overall I think we need a way to insert USA as a region or locale so the phone and carrier can play nice at the APN settings but also the App's that are using the locale and time zone to make "decisions"
