Whenever I restart my phone, it says phone starting along with showing an Android P logo.
I factory reset my phone once and the issue went away when I set the phone up as completely brand new.
When I factory reset the phone again with restoring my phone from the Samsung Cloud, the same error message appeared. What should I do to fix it?

If it happens again after a restore then its likely something you have backed up causing it

Even after the first initial setup, it kept doing it. I tried a Dalvik wipe, a bunch of factory data resets, and rebooting in safe mode. I think it could be something with logging into an account too. I tried two factory data resets w/o logging into my Google or Samsung accounts. They were pretty smooth with restarts. I may have to restore less info from my iPhone to the S10e?
I have about 12k texts between now and 2017 that I restored. Plus about 141 apps. But I think it may be a first party app since it's an issue that occurred in safe mode?
thats normal
mine does the same and so are all the ones i saw reviewed online
mine takes a few seconds in normal reboot but when i updated the OS it took like 5min to disapear

Weird, I thought it was corrupt data. It doesn't happen on my dad's Note 9 w/ Pie on it. What I do find weird is that the Android P logo appears and mentions the device was updated in the notification/status bar.

Usually the little pie icon in the status bar means it's finishing up an update. Is there still data that may not be fully transfering for some reason and maybe something got stuck trying?
Mine does the same thing. I think it's because some data didn't restore properly while restoring

According to the data transfer process, it says that my Google and Samsung accounts fully restored. I think the data I am using may be corrupt given that I had a lot of apps from iOS transferring over to the S10e. I'll download my apps manually this time. Just waiting for 12k messages to transfer over from Samsung Cloud into my S10e.

I was on the XDA app before so i didn't see your picture but yes that phone is starting message is normal. All my Pie devices have done it. Also the P icon in the status bar is a systemUI icon saying you won't receive notifications until you unlock it.

Just got done with Samsung Support. They say it's normal on the S10, but the Note 9 doesn't have that.

I am filling in the info for him but he told me today that as of the update he gets freezing, only half the apps and info loads, can't see any of his text and he has done about 5 battery pulls already. Prior to the update everything was smooth sailing, he is not rooted and when he got the update he left the phone alone to do it's thing the entire time.

I agree with danifunker. Just back his user data (pics, music, etc.) up to external-sd if it isn't already there. You can try backing his user apps up with Titanium Backup, but YMMV with that. You're reintroducing variables back into the flash.
I have also seen quite a few cases where selecting the backup/restore phone with Google during the initial setup after a major OS update has caused issues as well. This happened on quite a few employee phones here where I work during a previous upgrade. So much that it's our standard policy to not select them after a major upgrade. If a data wipe doesn't solve it, a full system restore and unselecting those options during setup is another (destructive) alternative.
Good luck amigo. Keep us posted. :highfive:
Hi all,
first time poster so please direct me to the right area if I missed this topic being discussed.
Have had a G2 since December. Recently it updated and the clock/weather widget, the Gmail app, and the clear ram widget have all stopped working. Even the lock screen does not show the time anymore.
The phone is not rooted or anything, just a personal use phone.
Tried resetting it and loading into safe mode but it did not fix it.
How can I fix this so my phone functions as normal?
Thanks
So you're actually saying you did a factory data reset?
You had to relogin to your account and reinstall all of your apps?

Alright duder.
Whatever apps are crashing just go to settings/apps/gmail or whatever app and clear data then reboot when you've cleared them all.
Just sounds like a bad update.
Anybody else having these problems? 2nd day to have it and it would freeze up and bootloop. At one point it was off for 2-3 hours and I couldn't get to fastboot. Finally I got it to factory reset twice and its doing fine for now. Unfortunately I'm on shift for 24 hours or I'd make Verizon give me a new one.

Could it be some app that you installed? Haven't had any problems myself with it.
Have you switched from dalvik to art?
I've had zero issues with bootloops so far.
Haven't switched to art and I doubt any nonroot app would cause bootloops. Who knows.

No issues so far here
none here
Had one this morning. Phone froze during a phone call, and then got stuck at the boot screen before the animation. Rebooted it by holding the volume and power button and it's worked since.
No problems here, have played games for several hours straight with no issues and have been playing with it all day.
Mine was solid for about 4 hours and its starting back up again. Maybe I have a lemon.

sounds like a defective unit or something.
i'd do a wipe, dont install any apps, see if it works fine or not. if it does, probably an app issiue. if you are getting problems even after the reset, its the phone.
Same issue here. Kept randomly rebooting, but only occasionally. Did a few factory resets, installing only essential apps each time thinking it was one of my apps that didn't play nice with Turbo (even though they played just fine with my Razr Maxx and Galaxy S5) to no avail. Last night, did a factory reset, didn't install any apps (nor did I update any of the pre-installed ones) and this morning, endless bootloop. I can't get it to stop. I'm really starting to hate this startup sound. LOL!
My phone locks up occasionally. Always restarts itself. I'm not sure what has been causing my phone to lock up but I haven't been able to pinpoint an action that is specifically creating the issue.
Sent from my XT1254
So I couldn't figure out a way to just power it down (all the usual button combinations just kept rebooting it, which then continued the bootloop) so I just figured I'd let it bootloop until the battery ran out. After about 3 hours of bootlooping, it just finally booted. I didn't touch anything. Weird. Maybe it's like a 4 year old temper tantrum, just let them get it out of their system and all will be better in a couple hours. Hahaha!
I have a phone that it's going this as well. I can get into recovery and reset but that didn't work. If I try to wipe cache the phone reboots and freezes which seems abnormal. I never had a phone reboot after wiping cache. I loaded the phone into fastboot and using RSD Lite I flashed the original software into the phone to no help. I did notice though that in the fastboot option that my baseband is blank. Might just be a bad device.? Does anyone know where I can find stock firmware 21.44 (that has the VoLTE option)?

With four turbos there seems to be more of a user error than system. you either disabled a needed apk, installed an apk that doesn't play nice, or you took an ota and havent completed an FDR. Its recommended and has been posted on here multiple times throughout this site/forum that always, always do a FDR with an update.

I'm not running any additional apks at this point and haven't since the second replacement device. Apparently, I just have good luck with this phone, that I now despise, and wish I could get rid of. I followed all the disable guides for what was safe, and I'm not sure what an FDR is, but if you tell me I'll give it a shot. Last replacement came updated as well. At this point this current model doesn't even receive phone calls, because it just doesn't work correctly.

OK, so I have done that with each of the devices. Unfortunately, I just have horrible issues/luck with this phone.
DOK2 all stock firmware here.
Got my phone back in december. My phone has been chugging alone fine until yesterday. not sure what happened but the lock screen takes minutes to come back. I tried doing a factory reset via software and when I did that the phone was still sluggish. Tried a stock recovery reset, and afterwards when i tried signing into my account and connecting to wifi at the initial setup the phone just rebooted back to the start screen again which i thought was real odd. It's currently restoring apps from the app store right now and it intermittently reboots itself while doing stuff. all while it's completely stuttering if i try to use it...
Is my phone starting to have internal memory failure? no SD card in the phone at the moment.
Should I try reflashing the DOK2 firmware via odin and then doing a reset again? Is that even possible with all the restrictions?
used it for about 30 minutes on my way to work and then it rebooted on me with the following error :
ddi: mmc_read failed
Check this thread for a workaround. I use an app to keep my phone from going into deep sleep.

Wouldn't hurt to reflash stock. Google usually restores apps when you check box at first boot for backup and restore. I'm wondering if you installed an app that doesn't agree with your phone... if so, you may continue seeing this issue so long as app is installed.

Did a factory reset and cleared cache, reflashed stock DOK2 from sammobile website using odin, cleared cache. things were going a little bit better at first but now just stuttering all over the place and randomly rebooting still. I only have very few apps downloaded, including facebook updates, instagram, all the samsung and google crap that forces updates...
Also want to add that booting into recovery takes a very long time, longer than i've ever noticed it taking... 7 min+ sometimes it will say "installing system updates" with the android guy chugging along, other times it will just have the android guy chugging....
Is there anything else I can try? Is there something I can test to verify that it's a hardware issue and not a software problem, like a flash memory checker?
This phone is out of warranty, and knox has been tripped so I have very limited options here. Would the Tmobile store let me do an exchange for a fee?

Sprint user here. I thought it might be a carrier issue, but it would seem It's at least Tmo & Sprint
Can't seem to find any complaints on the Verizon/ATT forums but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Well, fool me once.... Having spent $800 on a phone that broke in just over a year, hell would have to freeze over before I give Samsung any money again.
Hey so my father's phone just kinda bricked itself one morning. We don't know how or why. But he did tell me he installed the newest software update a few days ago, meaning he got OneUI 5.0.
If it matters, this is a german version of the S20FE, unfortunately im unaware if he has the Samsung CPU or Snapdragon CPU version.
I'm tasked with getting the data off the phone, but unfortunately i can not boot into android. The phone either freezes at the "Samsung Secured by Knox" logo or bootloops at that logo. When charging it does not show battery percentage, only the lightning symbol.
I can easily access the downloading mode, but recovery mode is very hard to get to, usually because of the bootloop, takes me around 10 to 30 minutes to get into.
Wiping Cache partition does not work, "repair apps" results in the bootloop
The logs always end displaying 3 times the same error: unable to set property "ro.boottime.init.mount.cache" to "1": error code: 0x18
Does anyone have an idea on how to get all the files off of it? I heard you can use Odin to flash it without losing data but also heard that it doesnt work since OneUI 3.1, and since OneUI 5.0 is very fresh i don't think anyone ever tried flashing it without data loss.
Unless you can boot it into safe mode you're boned.
If he really needs the data... take it to a data recovery specialist. Rates are around $800 for advanced recovery services, it may be less.
Otherwise see if a factory reset fixes it. Always redundantly and regularly backup critical data to avoid complete data lose.

Maybe it's a lesson he needs to learn the hard way. Androids rarely crash and burn but it does happen. Messing with the firmware is always a risk. One reason why I never do OTA updates/upgrades.
Data is fragile... not redundantly backing it up is an open invitation for trouble. A drop, water exposure, a near lighting strike, a hardware failure, malware, etc can destroy the data if that's the sole copy of it. Really it's only a matter of time until it happens. He needs to take a more vested interest in the device... or suffer the consequences.
Maybe someone here can help you but hands on by a specialist maybe the only viable shot there is at recovering the data now.
I have been able to unbrick Samsung devices in the past. I have posted what I did on this website.

Update, he sais he has his files on google drive. Now i tried to reinstall android using Odin3, i installed OneUI 4 with android 12, the farthest that i got was now a charging indicator showing percentage and the samsung android bootlogo after the bootloader logo. but then it crashes. OneUI 5 android 13 makes it bootloop again. The last thing i might do is just root the device

Well that's good... if it works.
You try the last version it was running on before it went to hell? If was me I use the earliest version available. I would not root it as dad will likely get in trouble for sure... and lose some core features forever.
First thing I would have tried is a factory reset. Anytime you flash firmware you're taking a risk; there's zero risk to clearing the user data partition.

The data is already gone, it was backed up by Google Drive and my dad got the data on his older phone now. The earliest version i can install after an OneUI 4 update is OneUI 4 android 12, which i have already tried, any older than that results in a Fail because the device refuses to flash OneUI 3 or older.
It does boot android *sometimes* with OneUI 4 Android 12. but never to the "Welcome" screen. OneUI 5 Android 13 causes it to reboot nonstop again (like originally). I am planning on downloading different versions of OneUI 4 android 12 for this device and see if it ever boots fully.
Allthough this seems like a software defect, im starting to doubt the battery itself, because when it was charging it only showed 5% after an entire night on the charger.
