Hello,
So I just order this phone without reading about the poor quality of updates and january and february bootloops. The phone will arrive with 8.1, is it safe to update ? Is it worth to keep or should I stay phoneless(an old nokia that I have might be working) ? I can't cancel the order because the money will be keept for about 30 days(banks this days..).. Even returning it is the same, so I will be stuck with it from monday as I need a new phone asap.
In short, should I install a custom rom, keep the stock 8.1 or risk it and update it? As far as I know it is the global version.
Thanks in advance !
cancel the order and get a nokia if you can if no then stay on 8.1 its better than pie in many ways

Thanks, I will wait till the 28th, if the march update isn't here and fixes it I will use an old nokia, to get my money back I will have to wait 30 days .. shouldn't have ordered without looking up on xda first, this is my own doing .

It was pulled do to 4G issues as far as I know, but I am a single sim user so I don't mind that bug as it affects dual sim only. Google should pull them out of Android one imo.

I talked with a rep from LG today. Here is what she said in reference to future updates for the Thrill....
"michelle: As far as I can tell you according to what I have here, they are working on those updates. But, there's no ETA, or any information yet. They only state that they are working on it."
So maybe they will give us updates? Any opinions? I am stuck in a contract until April with this phone and I am hating it. I don't want to void the warranty in case I can get it replaced with something else but I can't stand the GB update. I constantly have 8-9 system apps running that can't be killed and it overworks the processor causing overheating issues...my phone gets HOT!
root and install Prometheus. I'm in the same boat, stuck till April. I hated my phone. Went through warranty exchanges in hopes that they would give me a different phone. Probably could have gotten something different had I pushed hard enough with Customer Service but the truth is now I'm loving my phone, rooted with Prometheus installed. Now I'm playing Final Fantasy 3 in 3D. In fact come April I'll be getting 2 iPhone 5's for my wife and dad and I'll stick with this till I find something else I might want.
P.S. even my previous phone was rooted and had custom rom. I simply restored it stock when I did the exchange. Root and Rom couldn't be easier. Check it out.

It might actually start looking up for Motorola seeing as how Google bought them.
Prometheus?

Rom
I thought I'd share this. It's from Asus customer support.
After consulting related department in TW, up till now, they still have no schedule for next update but they do have the plan to update it.
We will transfer customers' wishes to them for further development.

I will .. after my warranties goes out... be using custom ROMs for sure (I was happy to see that someone builded/ported AOKP). But I am bit disappointed from Asus and their lack of communications on that matter.

at least you got a tablet mine has been in asus repair centre 2 months now. they had it more than i have.
Never buying asus again.
bought in nov resetting and other random issues update didn`t fix sent away. 1 month comes back now it`s worse. send it back sd card issue keeps remounting every 30 secs send back. they deny they can replicate issue even with vid i sent them. (apparently they were being kind and didn`t charge me labor fee for looking at tablet to find no fault.)
Got tablet back tried 4 diff sd cards diff sizes format all same issue recorded. whole thing sent back now they admit issue and will fix (1 month to get that far).
however the reset issue and garbled screen also recorded is not replicate-able. ..... 3 weeks latter they still have it and can never answer my question about wtf is going on and refuse to just swap it over with a new one.
so i have had tablet about 3 months they had it 5 months mind my french but fu ck ing useless service. it will be out of warranty before i use the damn thing.
what annoys me the most is this was bought specifically for on the go as i run my business remotely and am an avid bike user so carting around a crazy heavy laptop annoys the **** out of me.
Anyway lesson learnt don`t buy asus because if you get a **** one it will never get back to you working.

Hi, I just bought a moto x 2014 in Brazil (not locked to any carriers), and went to update, but it says no updates are available. I read everywhere that lollipop has been out for moto x 2nd gen for a while now. am I missing something? thanks

Not all variants of the Moto X 2014 have received Lollipop update. For instance, my XT1093 has not gotten it yet. XT1095 (pure edition) and maybe some others have gotten the update already.
You'll get it, just wait till it rolls out to you. You aren't missing out on much, believe me.

well actually android lollipop is the thing i need the most in a smartphone. multi-user is the reason I bought this phone right now, I have a band and I use instagram / twitter / facebook / all things that doesn't have multi-user support like google apps, so the only way I can manage everything is with android lollipop.
I had a galaxy s4 with cyanogen lollipop, but phone just fried so I went to the store and bought the best phone I could pay that had guaranteed lollipop upgrade, and when i got home bam, no upgrade. that's a bummer.

All I can say is you'll get it soon, so sit tight.
I was actually expecting a way to force upgrade since it's been out for a while, and I'm not very patient, not good with waiting for something that has not a defined time to get done you know? been waiting forever to get it on my s4, and it never came, had to do a manual install. My phones don't usually last longer than a year or two, so I can't afford to wait another six months for it unfortunately

It won't be six months. You're looking at a few weeks, max. You could look into side loading or flashing a ROM, though I'm not sure what is compatible with your model and what isn't.
I found an OTA download wich supposedly would force update my phone to download the official release, let's give it a shot

I think you're misinterpreting what you found. If it's the actual OTA zip, the file itself will update your phone to the official release... that's called sideloading. Nothing can force your phone to download the OTA if it's not already available. That's entirely up to Motorola or your carrier. And if it is available, you'd be able to get it by checking for it in settings. Post the link to what you found and I'll check it out.
I personally have no issues with it, never encountered the memory leak issue. I was a bit peeved at first they removed the silent mode but once I worked out how to use the priorities for alerts I was fine. Now I just wish they'd roll out lollipop for my Samsung Tab S.
Just turned up as an OTA on mine & has been installed. Can't say I've noticed anything much difference in the phone so far.

I'm just curious as to which build Google is pushing via OTA. Thanks!
There seems to be some slight speed up of the phone but that might be my imagination. Be interested to see if the battery life has increased as promised under this update. Also if they've squashed the last of the restarts it was still getting, though less so since the last update.
@Super Chimp
Can I ask where did you buy yours from? Mine is bought from CPW and no OTA yet

64GB from CPW. Is yours a 32GB model perhaps?
@Super Chimp
Thank you for by your reply . Sadly mine is a 64 GB version bought from CPW as well (beginning of Jan ). So weird that Apple manages to update everyone on the same day but Google can't do that with one phone model

Google allways rolls out in waves to prevent issues to arise for all users, no telling when a OTA will hit what region/country/serial number/Imei.
I have a 64gb version nexus 6 build no LRX22C . I have the update available but it's been waiting to download for over an hour.

Mine said that for ages & then just to changed to requesting for me to download & install, no intermediary stage if you know what I mean.
I am on 5.0 can't even get any update to 5.0.1!! Anyone in the same conditions? I am expecting not to receive the 5.1 update straight away but 5.0.1 has been out for some time and still haven't got it (I bought the n6 two days ago)
I got the message last night, and went through the motions of downloading and installing.
However, my phone is rooted (though otherwise stock) and when it rebooted, it did so into recovery (TWRP). After rebooting, I'm still on 5.0.1 and the 410.4Mb download is nowhere to be seen on the phone. I've again got the "System update available" message today, but I don't want to go round the same loop again.
Anybody know how to get a rooted phone to 5.1?

Hi.
It's a shame Oreo has been cancelled for the p9 and it's derivatives. It's got me wondering if I should move my p9 plus on or keep it. A pixel xl is tempting.
What about you?
I never sell my phones. I will stick with my P9+ one more year then i will see what device i will buy.
EDIT:
It looks like we getting Oreo after all. Too many fake news going around, just sit still in the boat and wait.
Oreo is going to be pushed out 10am everyday from 9 - 15 July!

I've got oreo on p9 plus al10. im in the UK and had my handset imported and its been loved and looked after not a single mark on it. now that it has oreo i am thinking of selling it, need to give it more thought!

I've got a branded vodaphone handset so I won't be getting the O update anytime soon if ever.
is anyone received oreo update for P9 Plus?? is there a guarantee that a Asia Pacific version will receive that update???

I've been using oreo now for week or more and honestly its working fine, if not alittle more smoothly. no frame drops in the animations, fluid home page transitions, call recording works flawless.. notifications are grouped better than before, camera is still the same as it was before and i really only use the document scan. not an issue for me so far. the setting menu changed its layout which took me a few days to get used to but everything else is the same as android N. the update is welcome one for me as i am going to sell my phone on. :good:
