Double tap to wake DT2W

Hi,
Is there anyway to enable\add the DT2W feature?
Thank you.

Unfortunately i think that is permanently removed from the stock rom. I have tried to search through Quick Shortcut Maker, but no success.

might need a custom kernel to implement this..

Not only this, but compared to Mate 8 we also don't have network speed indicator, no Autostart permission settings, no Gorilla glass, no Quick charger out of the box? Why we don't have these features? 550€ for useless Leica stamp on the back of the phone... [emoji23] [emoji23]

Anyway I don't miss the dt2w future as the fingerprint reader is enough convenient

Still sucks that we don't have tap to wake, this option needs to be there - end of story. And I hope they include it with an update like they did with mate8.
The flip case/fp sensor does a good job though. Almost never miss dt2w.

yes, did not work for me L-09 EMUI 4.1

Quick Settings in Settings App

Is there a way to turn off the Quick Settings at the top of the Settings app?

Exactly, what are you referring to? The gear shaped button at top right in the drop down notification panel, or the quick settings tiles, or what?

Can you post a screenshot?
My Note 5 on MM had it but my Note 8 on N doesn't.

At the top of the SETTINGS menu. See attached screenshot.

That doesn't look like stock...

Your settings look absolutely different from my settings, what model is yours? Looks like a different phone!

That is a Note 8, model number SM-N950U (Verizon).
If you hit the 3 menu button in the top right corner, select "Standard List". I bet your all's phone is on "Simplified List" for the settings menu.

I know that option from earlier phones, but on my unbranded N950U1 the 3 dots are not available in settings...

I didn't have them until I had to do a factory reset last weekend.

I never had the 3 dot for changing the style, I Did 2 factory resets for some unrelated issues with an app, but nothing changed

Ok, I can live without it - not looking forward to factory reset ?

Probably has a clone.

Must be a Verizon thing. My N950F (XEF unbranded) doesn't look like that & neither do my parents' N950U (TMO). Verizon is always trying to make their apps/features different from the rest.
Again, my TMO Note 5 on Marshmallow had quick settings like that but there was no way to turn it completely off.

Well if I have a clone Verizon screwed up. I got it at a Verizon store new in the box.

See attached screen shot of my About Phone section. I'm on 7.1.1 with 1/1/18 security patch.

Yup, it's a Verizon thing......
I changed the following line to VZW & sure enough it looked liked the OP's menu.
<CscFeature_Setting_ConfigOpMenuStructure>TMB</CscFeature_Setting_ConfigOpMenuStructure>
So if you're rooted change the line above to a CSC code other than VZW (but when I changed it to VZW it also changed my data indicator icon back to stock international even though I have it set to LTE).

Might be a good idea to edit your screenshot. Everyone knows your phone number now! Not good for the spam bots!

Thanks, didn't think about that. It probably wouldn't matter though since it is my business phone. I get a million spam bot calls a day. I figured out today someone is using my number to call others as spam.

Phantom notification

On Pie and November update sideloaded. Using Nova launcher
Have started getting phantom notifications. The phone vibrated, lock screen lights up but nothing there.
Have done a reset as always do after update.
Any ideas?

WiFi lost connection on second, phone track and send you notification but nothing appears...

Also noticed this today. Did you enabled Ambient Display -> New notifications -> Periodically?

That was it. Periodical notifications in ambient display. Crazy

You sideload an update that Nokia pulled out because have serious problems so expect this kind of behaviour!

"This kind of behaviour".....the type of behaviour standard in Pie you mean? It's not a bug just a stupid place to put the settings.
And as for the serious problem! How was it serious where the latest update is 1:1 identical to the one I sideloaded and some people got as standard??????

Ask Nokia then, i only got the service update, so something is going on there. They have pulled the update because problems, now they are sending it again wich have no sense at all and now they are sending also another update only with security update. I don't know. Happy anyway that is not a bug!

I've stopped trying to work out what they are doing. Shame really as it's a good phone. Unless they sort this update stupidity this will be my last Nokia.

You are right. It makes no sense what they do with the updates. Being late, I can understand that, but having 3 different versions of updates for the same phone is crazy (it is kind of the same thing of what they do with the phones versioning numbers: 7, 7+, 7.1, 7x and now 8 which is actually 8.1 - mad)
Anyway it looks like their focus is on releasing more phones than optimize the released ones. I think in the 2 years they were banned from releasing phones after the transfer from Microsoft, they developed the phones and they are releasing them now every 2nd month.

Something that baffles me is that the media such as android authority and others keep praising the company and recommending them as superb phones. That bit is true but nobody seems to be picking up that it's not really Android One without regular updates.

That is s great idea!
I think we all feel a little bit cheated. Thinking at it though, it is only the Pixels and Essential phone (don't think OnePlus has it) that have November security patch.
And the phone is a very good one (hardware at least).
This is it. All steam is out.

Sprint Pie update disabled simultaneous voice and data

Prior to the Pie update on Sprint I had the capability using simultaneous voice and data. The Pie update disabled that. Is it possible to flash the previous baseband? And does anyone have it? I need the capability to work. It would be greatly appreciated.

It wasn't active on Sprint's Note 9 back in Oreo, there was a "loophole" that allowed you to enable "calling plus". Sprint decommissioned calling plus back in September and the Note 9 Pie update closed off the hack so someone needs to either find another no-root method or we'll have to wait for Sprint to enable VOLTE.
The Note 9 is still capable of talk'n'surf. You can see it in action when you flip on wifi calling, make a wifi call, and turn off wifi while still in the call. It hands the call off to the LTE connection and you're able to talk'n'surf.
I'm surprised that VOLTE hasn't been enabled on the Note 9 yet since Sprint has it running on iPhones and Galaxy S phones. I'm sure they'll flip it on but the wait is annoying.

No lie my note 9 could share surf the web and share internet connection while in call as long as it was outgoing. It stopped working after the Pie update. So I downgraded to Oreo but the capability wasn't there which makes me think that the baseband software was changed. So if I can flash to a previous baseband (if possible) that should do the trick. I wasn't able to do call waiting but I'm willing to make that tradeoff. Does anyone know if it's possible to downgrade the baseband software?

I guess nobody heard me lol. Are there any sprint users who recovered VOLTE by downgrading to Oreo? If so what steps did you take? Any help greatly appreciated.

Just found this, and I have your answer. Using Odin, you can flash back to Oreo for your carrier. I did this to recover my voice and data, using Shortcut Master to enable it. Pie broke that little exploit, so until Sprint either pulls the heads out of their rear and joins the modern era, or someone figures out the same exploit for Pie, I'm sticking to Oreo.

Yeah I finally got it to work. And who says planned obsolescence doesn't exist. Smh

Besides Android PIE being a total piece of garbage, about a year ago, Google/Android had hired a bunch of iOS Developers.
Maybe that's why Android PIE Looks, Feels, and Acts kind of like the iPhone.
Nobody is really talking about this fact. WHY?!

I talked about it once. I mentioned how the latest android is becoming more like iOS in its functionality or lack of. Not only is Google android becoming more like iOS it's also taking more and more information from its users data wise and location wise. I can see myself someday going back to iOS due to the fact Google is starting to take the pi$$.

Yep that's my opinion also. But like I mentioned earlier if Google starts infringing more and more on what I am able to disable or enable on my device then I'd have to start thinking about moving away from the scum that they are becoming.

Deciding whether to return

I just got this device yesterday with the Global rom. It seems like there are no real customizations for it. For instance, how do I change the navigation bar at the bottom? Is there anyway to have it go away when I'm in an app or web browsing? It cuts off a chunk of viewable screen space on this phone.
Also, is there no tap the screen to wake functionality?

Fng will work. Just give permission with adb and it's good to go.

Well, the American version is very limited, the Chinese version is the most complete, and has all that you mention, gesture navigation and many more functions

The CN version has update http://ui.nubia.cn/rom/detail/64 , the America version I don't know, I have the 3s with CN version with google apps, so I bought it on AliExpress, I can't update via OTA, so I need help to update...
