I've been considering purchasing a bike, though I do not know much about them. The little bit that I do know is just how to ride them from my dirty bike days 10 years ago. I know street bike are a complete different beast, I'm looking for something I can learn, including the mechanics off them. And was told when I get an endorsement that I cannot legally ride anything bigger than what I tested on, so I may want to find something of decent size to avoid headaches later.
found this, guy wants 1500 for it, but was just browsing ads, and am not set on getting anything yet.

Raleigh Burner with yellow mag wheels. My favourite bike...25 years ago.
Check on ebay
Most common recommendation I get is a cbr600
Check Honda (HMSI) bikes. About bike's mechanics I don't it is different to learn
I'd recommend taking an MSF course if you haven't rode for a while.
Personally I wouldn't suggest getting a SuperSport first. A 600rr might be a little much for a new rider, or a rider returning to bikes again.. seeing as they put out more than 100hp it could easily put you on your ass quickly if you make a mistake
I'm not saying 'omg don't get one cuz you'll die!11' - just that if you're confident in yourself and your riding skills then do whatever feels right.
Since you also wanna know the mechanics and everything getting a streetfighter (same type as the craigslist listing you posted) is probably what you'd want to aim for - fairings will be off, easier to access parts, make modifications, etc.
just my .02
I guess I want to share this. Monday, Aug 29, 2011, some jackass wouldn't let me in their lane in a bumper to bumper traffic near an exit. My blinkers was on forever, but no response. I was trying to move over the right to exit. I noticed he had his blinkers and started moving towards the same ramp I wanted to get to finally, which would give me an opening, but he kept stalling and not moving even though he had an opening himself. I think he was deliberately messing with me.
My windows was closed as I had the AC on, but all of a sudden I heard a thud and saw something hit the front passenger side of my car near the side mirror. It was just a glimpse, so I didn't know what it was. All I know was it had some mass to it, and it looked tan in color. I looked back and saw the jackass who wouldn't let me in all this time rolled down his window flipping the finger and yelling ****!
What, the idiot didn't think anyone have cameras these days? And in dead traffic, it was easier to snap his license plate.
There isn't much damage to the car. Might have a nick on my paint but then again it could have been there before.
State police just too busy to help. They keep saying they will come by my local police station, but never shows up even after I waited over 2 hours.
I basically gave up. It's really frustrating to report anything, so I can see why a lot of things go unreported.
I still have the photo, but it frustrates me that I can't do anything about it. Those online sites that promises to look up license plates look shady, so not worth even trying them out.
Grrrr!
Don't you "guys" have SMS services and stuff to look up things like this? If i want to check a license plate i can send a text with REGNR <license number> to 2282.
Don't know how it works in the states though.

We don't, unfortunately. Only the authorities would have this ability. There are websites that says they can, but they all look shady. From what I've Google'd, it looks like a plate # does nothing unless you report to the police or know someone who's a cop.
I tried reporting to the police, but just getting the run-around. It really is frustrating.
I see i see. Well, not much you can do then.
So United has a horrible Lost and found system. I called them less then 30 minutes after walking off the plane. I wanted someone to walk to my seat and physically grab it. Since i was near the rear of the plane and the last one out of my row im pretty sure no other passenger would of grabbed it. All they could do is basically tell me to report it on the website and i "might" get a call. The thing is I know and have talked to a few flight attendants and it seems like a lot of the time there co-workers hide the stuff and keep it for themself. So instead of united actually doing a physical check it is pretty much as good as gone at this point. I really have no faith i will get it back. It was a flawless N7 16gb too!. Doubt I will buy a new one to replace it even though i really loved the device, I just have too much other things going on to afford it atm. So if I dont get a call/email in the next few days, it was nice being a part of these forums and loved the vibe here.
That sucks. Hope you able to get it back. Good luck!
This reminds me when I lost my old GBA case on a plane. It had so many good games in there, and the GBA itself. I still had my SP case though, that had the SP and games as well, so I didn't lose everything.
I miss you Nightmare in Dreamland.
Anyway, sorry to hear about losing your Nexus.
omg that is so sad. i almost cried reading your post.. I would hate to loose mine right now . It will come in handy starting next week. Wed i have to have a bicep tendon surgery..
boohooo
i so hope they do the honest thing and get it back to you
Get a case or sleeve that you can tether to your bag, belt, etc. Also, Case Logic LNE07 comes in red so it's hard to visually miss it.

United Airlines is the worst. From the most cramped planes with the worst seats in the industry, to the worst customer service there is. I used to fly Continental exclusively, but since the merger, no more. Good luck.
Any chance you had Lookout or some other tracking service installed? Sucks man. My wife is a flight attendant and she has turned in several Kindle's and what-not in, so perhaps there is a chance. Best of luck!

yes i have lookout installed.
You never know, I found someone's kindle on a Southwest flight and took it right up to the counter. They said they had already hear from the passenger and knew whose it was. Messing with other people's gadgets is bad mojo.

Can you tell if it's still at the airport? If yes, that is a very good sign that it's probably been turned in (and someone turned it on and connected to wifi...but lets hope that was in an effort to identify you for good reasons). If it pops up online anywhere outside of the airport...it's pretty much gone. Hopefully you changed all your passwords to all your accounts too...notified any credit cards you have tied to any of those accounts, etc.

it wasnt able to locate it which leads me to believe it wasnt turned on and connected to wifi. I had google wallet active on there but no credit card tied to it, just the $10 that came free.

If you bought it with a credit card you might have some buyer protection like, replacement for stolen or broken items. I buy everything with American express, I have a 90 day window in which they will replace if lost, stolen, broken, etc.... Plus they extend any warranty an additional year...
Visa has something like this on a few of the cards...

you need to input your passcode anyway, unless you have it stored in your tablet for someone to find out
I am really surprised that Google doesn't have an easy way to register our devices. Every Android device has numbers associated with it that can't be changed. The MAC addresses for both the WiFi and Bluetooth interfaces are unique, so every device that has either of these radios could be identified. It should be part of the OS that these tablets can't install any software if the registered owner reports it lost or stolen. If the device has cameras, a picture should be taken when it's connected to the internet. These pictures could be retrieved when a valid case number or subpoena is provided. At least a warning should appear on the tablet saying it has been reported lost or stolen. Make it a pain to use a misappropriated tablet.
Yes, I know there are programs out there that do this for you, but they are easily circumvented by doing a full factory reset of the device. Come on Google! Take a bite out of crime!

Someone on another thread said that somebody sold them a Nexus 7 that was apparently known to Google as stolen, and I guess Play access was disabled or something, I don't know the exact details though...
An app is only easily removed if it is loaded as a user app. If it is am system app a standard reset went be enough. On the other hand maybe they will be smart enough to take it further.

A very similar thing happened to me on a BA flight inbound to heathrow years ago. On that occasion i left a case containing some sennheiser noise cancelling headphones and an ipod nano in the seat pocket. I realized just a short distance from the gate and went back but they wouldn't let me back on. They never found for me either. I was eventually told that "I think someone has add it mate".

I have my devices set to take front and rear photos on evey boot and on multiple incorrect passcodes which are uploaded staight to dropbox and google plus. They also text each other with gps coordinates on every boot. Again, this is only useful if the thief doesn't factory reset or flash a new rom.
I wonder if devs could implement a passcode for cwm et al to secure the flashing process?

goto play.google.com and install plan B remotely, youll be able to track it once it's online, as long as it's still tied to your google account

This was discussed before but i think they said they couldn't because it could lock you out of your device
Slate on a plane!!
Sorry, just had too
I read on Google's help pages that they can remotely lock a device so might be worth calling them. If someone can't use it they might put it back in lost property or something.
Last week I went to the DMV to get a new drivers license. In the process I needed to get my index finger printed. The technician tried and tried using some kind of an optical scanning device but failed to get an acceptable image. He mentioned that he's seen the same problem with others my age (late 60s) and blamed it on losing collagen. Seemed strange to me as I'd never heard of such a thing.
So I decided to do some research and found this (in a Scientific American article):
"...the elasticity of skin decreases with age, so a lot of senior citizens have prints that are difficult to capture. The ridges get thicker; the height between the top of the ridge and the bottom of the furrow gets narrow, so there's less prominence."
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/lose-your-fingerprints/
While I now understand, figuring out my problem doesn't solve it.
I haven't looked in a while--did anyone ever locate the fountain of youth?
Just another cruel joke to make getting old suck even more.
It also might be caused by doing dishes alot.
Sometimes if you do the dished so much the scanner cant read it even the scanner for making a passport may not be able to
Thought this might help me with my missing password and correct fingerprint files, but no.
However, I have this to say you're proably better off without the stupid scanner
Yeah man, the scanner BLOWS.
Simple - as - that!
Mine packed up after unlocking and updating firmware - backup password doesn't work either. Actually, I think it's probably less annoying to not be able to access it, then to access it. Seriously, if it doesn't work 99.99% of the time it's bloody annoying. All these people saying yeah but it works every 8 or 9 out of ten... WTF? Seriously, if I had to double press my laptop or car every tenth time I'd take it back to the manufacturer.
Welcome to the new and more expensive samsung - NOT. I'm done with you after this latest phone. It'll be a Xiao mi or a one plus 2 for me. Almost looking forward to having this one stolen or broken so I can justify the change to my wife...

* SKIP THIS TO GET TO PROJECT *
I have a bunch of old phones and tablets, that my kids have destroyed in one way or another, that i want to put together to build something new with. I have no idea if anyone has done something like this before or if its even possible. I have little to no experience in this field, but i have been learning more and more each day. If i posted this in the wrong place or if this group doesn't really like or cover this type of thing, i am also sorry for kinda just kicked in the front door, acting like a drunk asshole, and just started blurting out a bunch of nonsense. Anyway.... The Raspberry Pi is what got me thinking about this kinda project in the first place. i dont have anything i really need one for, im not a developer or programmer, i dont build drones or bots. i just thought i would start with this and see where it goes. I just started using Linux, and getting used to how it runs. i know this will make me seem stupid and probably make a few chuckle , but i went balls deep and made a live partitioned Kali Linux USB. Yep im that guy, no experience but buys the most expensive, and non-noob practical, for pros only edition and gets in way over his head. So yea, I've been playing with that( definitely not *trying* to crack my neighbors WIFI) trying to learn about Pen testing, and getting a feel for linux. So there is the basic feel for the skills i dont have.
* PROJECT, INFO, QUESTIONS, HELP *
I have a few different things that i was wanting to try and build. Like i said above i have a bunch of parts. i will start with a list ideas and then ill list parts. Just a little note i dont have very much money so i cant go out and buy very many extra things to build with. i know this sounds worse and worse but it'll be fun for me and maybe pose a challenge for some of you plus i will get a ton of learning in
* god that sounded bad *
Here we finally go:
An iPhone that runs Kali Linux without a carrier and SIM card. Possible use would be a pocket PEN tool, that still could call and text. First big problem is getting past the no SIM activation screen.
A home controller.
Car music player/ down-loader/ streamer/ gps unit. i have a few phones with broken screens that could be integrated straight into my car or truck and stay there.
Something like a Rasp Pi or arduino. I think it would be fun to try and put one together from scratch, not sure if it even possible with what i have.
A store tracker bugger? Ok so you probably know that stores like to turn on your blue-tooth or contact your phone without your consent or even knowing, well maybe something that doesn't have a screen that just chills in my pocket with my phone and stops or fires back at them. Again not sure if its possible or even a good idea but it crossed my mind.
White hat/ Black hat: Maybe something fun or something really fun. No clue where you guys stand on this but in todays world the only way to "get ahead" is to cross that line. Look at the people running our country, its ****ing scary!!!!! Open to any ideas!!!!! if you have had enough and are leaving, thanks for making it this far!!! IF you plan on continuing, your a bad MOFO!!!
Parts and things that i have:
iphone 5s: No SIM card or little tray that sides that SIM into the phone. Other than that it works good.
Samsung galaxy s3: Everything works, battery life is shot and is extremely annoying
Samsung galaxy s4: Digitizer is broken. Other than that it works great.
ZTE: 830 at&t phone from walmart. everything works plastic screen is cracked
Lg: L16C everything works but i took it apart and it is running with no cover on it.
Hp laptop: Not sure year or anything its in pieces, it was not working before it was taken apart because of a virus.
2x Nextbooks: they are 3 years old and dont turn on. one of them is in pieces and the other is complete.
That pretty much covers it. there might be a few more things i cant think of but nothing major. Well, what do you think? is there the possibility to make something? I think by now your know way more about me than you could have ever wanted, your eyes probably hurt, and you most likely have to pee, so ill hurry, Thanks for your time and for the work you have already put into helping me. I only ask that you just keep this in the back of your head and if something comes to mind, send me a reply. If you hated this and are sick of me, my horrible grammer, bad storytelling and everything else, feel free to tell me when you also have an idea to add.
THANK YOU
