No. You have to unlock the bootloader. The instructions are in the g6 section. They are also on Motorola's website. Did you not search at all?

yeah i saw this method!
But I considered it complex and I was afraid to brick my phone... In the old days it was easier (install and run).
Thanks anyway!
Im looking for root because need enable frontal LED diode (works when battery is dead) to "light" when receiving notifications

None of those old one click methods work anymore dude. You got to do it the old-fashioned way unlock your bootloader with fastboot and Flash TWRP Then use TWRP to flash no verity boot.img and magisk. That's it easy peasy.
Root is in the boot image now.

[Q]A bit of help please :D

Hi, I bought a moto x recently and I really don't know what is the best option to mod my phone. I have android 4.4.2 and standard moto x from Claro, and I'd like to mainly root. I'm not really interested on unlock BL, but aparently in 4.4.2 it is needed to unlock BL. I have read some guides here but I don't get it. What I shall do ? Thanks guys.
Without an unlocked bootloader, this is your only root option on 4.4.2...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2771623
And its only root. Write protection is still enabled, meaning anything you do is undone when you reboot or power off and on.
So it has a lot of limits. I don't think you can write to the system either.
Not ideal.
Yes, I was wondering on downgrading my phone, what about that ?

You will BRICK it if you try. Its well documented here. You can not downgrade safely - even with an unlocked bootloader.

[Q] Rooting options for Moto X Europen version Android version 4.4.4

Hello
I recently bought a Moto X (European version) and I would like to have the Xposed framework on it. To do that I need to have root access as I understand it. To gain root access I need to unlock the bootloader, or do I? I have read a couple of threads where an unlocked bootloader wasn't needed to root the phone, there was apparently some sort of exploit to forgo that. I'm wondering if that is possible with the Android 4.4.4 and European version combo?
I appreciate your time and help!
Best regards
ArticHood
Yes you need an unlocked bootloader to Root 4.4.4.
See the one stop shop for Root in the general section, right near the top. ?

With 4.4.2, the vulnerability/exploit used to disable write protection on the 2013 X was patched and no longer works.
With 4.4.4, the vulnerability/exploit used to root phones with a locked bootloader has been patched.
With 4.4.4, the only way to root and disable write protection is to unlock the bootloader.
Link to Moto X unlocked bootloader?

Moto X 2nd Generation Bootloader unlock

Hey there, I've been searching for hours but can't seem to find the method to unlock the bootloader of Motorola MOTO X (XT1097) 2nd gen (AT&T) running android version 5.1.1
Update: I managed to root (temporarily) with kingroo v 8.4.1. To do so all you have to do is factory restore moto x and then without activating Google ID do following
1) try root with king root which will fail, no need to panic.
2) clear cache of King root and then run it again.
Voila you've achieved temporary root permissions.

Try motorola bootloader unlock site which is probably not possible but worth a try, else search sunshine bootloader thread support moto x 2014..
I've tried that already, in vain. Kingroot and sunshine thingy seems to works. Too bad it is not free :crying: I wish it was free.
You can check the status in fastboot

Bootloader is locked I've checked. But that's not the problem here, now the problem is sunshine, it's not free to use

UNLOCK works... and root.

In case anyone is wondering, the unlock process went smoothly. Usual Motorola process, and the usual "orange" warning screen on bootup.
As for root -- see the X4 root thread
Magisk devs are still working on this device... be patient
I've never had a Moto android phone- what is the usual process? I know that you need to send them info from the bootloader, and they email you an unlock code. Can you re-lock/unlock at will now or does every unlock require a new code?
I have never relocked a Moto phone, but would think the code stays the same as it is device-specific.
The process is just that... Go to the moto unlock site, get your code and unlock via fastboot -- the email from Moto contains the code and step by step instructions if you need them.

When U get a fresh locked phone the status code is 0 and is locked and official... when u unlock it's bootloader the status codes change from 0 to 3 and when u relock it the status code is 2.. u can't permanently lock it (some legends say we need to change mobo)
no u can use the unlock code which u received by email plenty of time's....that's your permanent unlock code but if u do the same process ie goto moto bootloader page and blabla.. then the code which u received again can be used plenty of time's and the 2nd code will become your perm code and the 1st code won't work again!!

As for root -- without custom recovery, Magisk was the best bet. But is unable to properly patch boot.img. The good news is that I was able to modify and flash a different boot.img, test it, and then return to stock boot.img (on both A and B partitions) without any trouble. Theoretically, Magisk Beta build is supporting Pixel type A/B partitioning, so perhaps there is hope...

I am no developer but work as a computer network engineer by day (Cisco). This new "slotted" partition scheme is different. Once we are are able to side-load TWRP "temporarily" we should be good. I have a retail version (-1) from best buy sitting new in box downstairs. If there is anything you need from that specfiic unmodified device let me know. I have not unlocked boot loader yet as I see no reason too unless root privileges can be guaranteed; which i know from my last 3 hours of reading you're working your a.s.s off with lol.

Problem with root on RMX1931

I decided to root my Realme X2 PRO with Magisk. I unlocked the bootloader, and at that time the fingerprint sensor still worked, but since I have flash magisk, it is no longer usable, is it normal?
Thank You
now I removed the root and it doesn't work anymore ... Version RMX1931EX_11_C.26

It doesn't work cuz you have unlocked bootloader.
on first page there are so many threads with bricked phones so you have to be really brave to try lock it.
