Just received a Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 8 from sprint. Have not turned it on yet. How can I bypass hands free activation, use package disabler pro (Samsung) 15.0 to stop system updates, find out the current firmware version and if required bootloader version, SamFail and root. Would this be possible?

Well, I figured removing the SIM would get me in to determine firmware and bootloader versions.
Android 7.1.1
N950USQU2BQJB
Stopped automatic system updates in system updates and in developer options.
Not activating yet. Powered off and continuing research.

Staying on N950USQU2BQJB Android 7.1.1. This https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-s7-edge/how-to/hotspot-bypass-nougat-ok-t3563446 is still working. Also Samsung Package Disabler is working.

My Nexus 6 received 7.0 update notification and I would like to wait for 7.1 to upgrade together. But yesterday the 7.0 notification suddenly gone, I've manually check the update but the system said my phone already get the latest update. Then I've checked the version of my Nexus 6, it is MOB31H, I don't remember whether I have the November update. Now I have few questions and hope someone can help me.
1. Why the 7.0 update notification suddenly gone?
2. I've checked the Full OTA images, the Nov update contains MMB31C and MOB31K, If I would like to manually apply the update, which one should I use? (My Nexus 6 is international version XT1103)
3. If i manually apply the the Full OTA Images on Nov update by adb sideload, will all the data being erased and need to re-config and reinstall all apps?
Thanks so much in advance for your help.
1. Unknown
2. Your device model doesn't matter as the OTA zips work on both, but based on the model number you gave, you have a US device. The international unit is XT1100. Use the version with the code ending in "K" if wanting Android 6.x. Android 7.x uses codes starting with "N".
3. Flashing an OTA zip will not cause loss of data.

Thanks so much for your help, I think I mis-type the model, XT1100 international should be correct.
I've just sideloaded the version MOB31K successfully and will wait for the 7.1 fix on the speaker phone echo problem before upgrade to 7.1.
Please don't mind to ask one more question, i guess the MMB31C and MOB31K is for US and International model respectively. On version Nougat, no different on XT1103 and XT1100, one version for both model?
Thanks so much again for your help.
Or you could sideload NBD91X, which is Nougat without the speakerphone problem.
@mega23mac: MMB31C is for CDMA devices in the US, if I recall correctly. As @dahawthorne points out, you could install a 7.0 OTA, but if you don't need the speakerphone, the 7.1 OTA works just fine. Google should have it patched for next month's security update.
I got a nice used Note 8 for a good price (AT&T variant running 8.0.0) that I'm using on wifi only since it's not activated and I have no plans to do so (since the Note 9 is due next month).
I downloaded the July security updates from APK Mirror, but it says app not installed when I try to install them. Is it possible to get it installed through an apk?

Download thru sammobile, install it with odin
You should still be able to receive OS updates via OTA despite the fact that your device is not activated and has no SIM card in it. As OS updates for mobile devices aren't dependent on those.
Hey guys.
I bought my phone from AT&T retail shop in the US last year. But unfortunately I had to move back to my home country. Ever since the August 2019 Security Patch, I have yet to get any update. The AT&T website indicates that my phone is due to get an update in December 2019 but I have yet to get it.
Is there a way I can resolve this. Whenever I check for updates, it indicates that my phone is up to date. This happens also when I use Smart Switch application.
Samsung S10, Snapdragon 855
Model: G973U
Baseband Version: G973USQS2ASGK
Thanks in advance.
August? You are like 4 or 5 updates behind! Android 10 is out for the S10 now. You're probably going to have to flash the latest firmware using the patched version of Odin floating around the forum here.

Unfortunately since August. But thank you for this insight..I have been searching for days on what I should do. Though I would like to know when I do flash using Odin, will I start getting updates or do I need to update manually every time.
Also if there is any other way of solving this problem without having to flash my phone I am willing to give it a shot.
Flash whenever you want, but it will reset your phone unless CSC_home is used. You might get updates after flashing with Odin as long as your SIM card matches the firmware (i.e. T-mobile firmware and SIM), but then again you might be stuck using Odin to update every time.
Hi everyone,
I bought a Note 9 a few days ago and its rooted. It has got Android 9 One UI 1.0
I wanted to update the software but it has no software update option.
So I thought maybe I can download the latest software on it through odin.
It is N950F model. On settings, it has the following baseband version: N960FXXU2ZRLR
SE for Android status is showing the following: Enforcing SEPF_SM_N960F_P03_Dr.KetanROM
And bootloader is showing something like this: N960NKSU3CSG3
Now I'm really confused that which firmware should I download?
Can anyone help?
I would recommend that you download and install android 10 to your Note 9.

Use 'samsung phone info' in playstore. Check which csc the phone originally. Download that csc's firmware and flash.
By right any firmware should do but who knows.
Same

I believe for rooted devices, you need to install the OS update manually

once rooted you will lose knox protection, secure folder Samsung health and yes oem updates. even if you flash official again you may receive oem updates but some oem features may not function again. so u might have two options here. one is to re flash via odin the official firmware and use the phone without some features as i mentioned above! also now that our beloved note 9 got the final 2.1 major firmware update it is highly unlikely to get anymore upgrades such as oneui 2.5 but will continue to receive monthly security updates! then the second option is we have some great devs like dr.ketan, AlexisXDA, etc with highly customized roms and many workarounds to get features like S-health and secure folder working and they do keep upgrading the roms and we might even expect to get oneui 2.5 features from them which is excellent. i too am still on stock rom not even rooted but will start having fun flashing roms after my warranty expires for sure! cheers
P.S - use henklbr s frija to download official firmware easily and fast..... https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...icial-stock-fw-update-odin-thread-xx-t3825204

Last week I bought the Galaxy A90 5G (SM-A9080, China version), and immediately searched for ways of Magisk installation.
Indeed there are multiple articles from Google showning the methods. I tried most of them and regretfully all failed.
Even I followed the instruction from this forum, however, I still failed.
This is because of my current model? Because the current version of Magisk is not updated enough? Because of the mechanism of Samsung's Android 9 OS?
I also got the Galaxy Note8 running Android 9, and the way of Magisk installation on Android 8 and previous ones does not work on Android 9.
I do need Root/Magisk due to my requirement, but there is likely a huge barrier preventing me from the Root.
Thus, there is no possible solution?

I own a A908B (German Version) and I'm on Android 10 running Magisk on Stock OS. This is the tutorial i followed and it works. Since there is no Custom Recovery yet the only thing we can do right now is patch the AP-Image of every single update we get... And be prepared to backup everything you have because it's going tor require a full data wipe
Thanks for your advice.
Last night I upgraded my SM-A9080 to Android 10 and managed to get the phone rooted via Odin3.
