Hello there.
I have a Huawei P9 (EVA-L09) with an unlocked bootloader and a custom ROM.
Since a few days I started experiencing something completely weird.
Every time I happen to turn off my phone (often only because the phone had gotten quite warm and I want it to cool down then) I then land in the boot animation and get stuck there. After forcefully rebooting the phone from there (about half of an hour) I held the Volume Up key for three seconds during the warning screen and eRecovery told me about the Data Partition to be badly damaged and it would be recommended to recover it.
There are two ways I can do from here (and also did):
First way is to let it recover using eRecovery, connect to my wireless connection, however the phone always tells me that there was a problem getting the package info for my phone. (Does Huawei stopped supporting the P9 eventually?)
The second way is to run TWRP and reinstall the custom ROM (In my case RROS 5.8.5 for my P9) and to never turn my phone off again. However this isn't always possible to keep it on since it also could happen that I'm not at home and my battery suddenly died.
Installing the stock ROM (or a custom ROM based on a stock ROM) however doesn't work. The stock ROM itself simply won't get installed, neither over the dload method or TWRP or fastboot and a custom ROM based on the stock ROM results in having my phone simply getting a black screen when locking it and then I need to reboot it to use it again.
What can I do? Could it be that my flash memory could be corrupted or something could have happened with one of the partitions of the phone?
Greetings.
EDIT: I managed to install a stock firmware using this link right here.
After the stock firmware was installed, doing a factory reset and wiping the cache every problem I mentioned above this edit vanished.
Hello everyone, i have a Little problem, i'm actually on latest aex mod 8.1 and everytime i try to install a miui based rom (epic and masik) installation is going fine, boot too but i'm stuck with a message telling me that encryption was unsuccessfull a message pop ups to restart phone and perform a Factory reset to solve this issue.i hit the button, phone restart to twrp wipe automatically data i guess (don't really remember) and reboot and again the same message. I've never encrypted my device and twrp dosn't ask me for a password. I've only set a fingerprint with pin code to secure my phone. Still i could restore my aex backup with twrp.
Anyone could explain whats going on?
Édit: same error if i try to install RR 7.1 it tells me that encryption (not decryption) was interrupted and had to reboot to twrp and restore a back up. I'm really confused
I tried installing a couple of custom ROMs in my Mi Max 2. When setting one of these ROMs, I set PIN lock to its screen.
After that, my TWRP is PIN locked as well. I must enter PIN to unlock my TWRP and to access it.
So the question is: How to unset TWRP lock? Is there in TWRP itself a command/option to unset TWRP lock?
(TWRP is official 3.2.3.0, ROM I using is EU Nougat.)

maybe u can try and flash twrp again, see if it resets and removes that PIN. also try other twrp versions to see if that helps.
you set encryption > then the lock is the pin to encryption and that has nothing to do with twrp .. it just trying to decrypt storage to work on it
try using that pin
if it didn't work you can always factory reset from twrp and it will recognize the storage.. provided that nothing valuable on the storage
also if you can boot to the system i had a pretty bizzare bug the can be useful for you
i installed reachability cursor app on xtended rom and force closing the app makes it lose the accessibility permission
after enabling it for the second time freezes the device and then if you force restart with power long press it stops asking for the code in twrp and while booting..
maybe specific to the rom but worth a shot if that's your case

I tried flashing same TWRP again as well as almost dozen of other TWRP versions for Oxygen. Nothing changed, I still must enter PIN password when entering TWRP and the same password when booting into system (from TWRP or from phone turned off).

I must enter same PIN password when booting into TWRP and when booting into system (from a) TWRP, or b) from phone turned off, or c) after resetting the phone when in system).
It is needless to say that phone screen is not locked in any way - by PIN/phrase password or by fingerprint. That leads me to conclusion that something should be (re)set/changed in TWRP itself.
Factory reset in TWRP didnot help. I will try to repeat the trick with xtended ROM and reachability cursor app.
you need perform format data

i wonder what will happen if you set a new pin in the current rom you running and made it ask for it at boot
then removed it?!
Or you may try this https://forum.xda-developers.com/doogee-mix/how-to/fixed-how-to-remove-data-encryption-twrp-t3757595

"...and made it ask for it at boot" - I already tried that. EU ROM has the option to PIN lock the screen, but it hasnot the option to ask a PIN at boot. So with EU ROM, at boot it will ask for same PIN as for the TWRP an after a boot it will ask for screen PIN as set in EU ROM.

I was very excited to install this update that released today, but after installing it, I can't sign in to my phone. When it boots up, it flashes the homescreen wallpaper, not the lockscreen wallpaper for a second or two then the screen turns black. If I hold the power button I can view the power settings (reboot, silent, airplane mode, shut down) and also if I double press the power button, which my camera shortcut, it opens the camera. Aside from these actions, I can't do anything.
My method to installing this rom was this:
Download the rom from xiaomi.eu website
use the built in updater where I select a rom on my phone and it automatically boots to recovery for me (I'm using TWRP)
Let it do its thing, and boot up, then when it boots the errors occur.
I tried wiping cache and dalvik, but no change.
Did I miss something? Is there something I should have done differently when updating my phone? Is there a special procedure in upgrading Android versions? (1.1.2.0 is first Android Pie version on my phone)
Thank you very much.
Edit 1: I have flashed a second time, this time flashing cache, dalvik, and data. I was able to get into MIUI and set up my device, but after I rebooted the phone for a separate reason, I am experiencing the same errors as before.
Edit 2: Not 100% sure because I switched ROMs, but I probably could have gotten it working by wiping /system as well.
Hello, same thing here.

Yep same here. I tried it again, wiping data partition and same issue. Can't downgrade because rollback protection too. I guess I'll try out Pixel Experience??

Hey, by the way, what launcher are you using? This seems to be a problem with just the lock screen so maybe there is a weird interaction happening between the launcher and the lock screen. I was using Rootless Pixel Launcher.
Edit: one more question: did you do the same thing as me where I first flashed without formatting data, then you flashed a second time, that time formatting the data? I'm thinking it could also be just because we flashed it incorrectly the first time, future flashes are gonna be messed up.
Where's the download I can find only 10.1.1.0

Try this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/remove-lockscreen-recovery-t3530008
You must have a valid custom recovery
Edit : the recovery method won't work... It's a problem with the rom. Just switch to another version....

You can downgrade from Pie to Oreo with EU rom and TWRP, the phone boot up normaly but some processes say stop working.
I had same problem yesterday. I recommend wipe system before reinstalling Oreo rom and waiting a fixed Pie rom

This stable ver has many problems. It's hasnt stable yet. Even when you could turn the screen on, if you use the 3 buttons as default, everything is normal, but if you use fullscreen gestures and reboot your phone, you will stuck in black screen again. Many friends and me have the same black screen problems. So my advice is you should stay where you are waiting for a real "stable" ver.
For all who want to use FSG in version 10.1.2.0 I would recommend the following workaround:
a) Startup freshly installed system
b) Select navigation bar as preferred method and finish setting up the phone
c) Download Magisk v18.0
d) Reboot into TWRP and flash Magisk v18.0 zip
e) Reboot to system
f) Download the free application "Fluid Navigation Gestures" and setup the same Gestures as in Stock mi8
g)Optional: In Fluid NG, choose "Hide Navigation Bar"
It doesn't have the exact same feeling as stock but is pretty close and I think it's valid as a meantime workaround.
Hello, it's my first post on this forum so sorry If I made this thread in the wrong place.
I have been trying to install PE 12 (plus edition) using official PE site (https://download.pixelexperience.org/lava).
After many attempts to do so, I ended up installing different TWRP recovery images and wiping everything from my phone.
Then I've tried installing official recovery image from site and I've installed ROM by adb sideload and it worked.
First boot wasn't a problem, but from start phone would sometimes crash when attempting to turn it on (or, attempting to unlock lock screen. I can write my PIN, but then rebooting happens). When it wouldn't crash (it's not happening every time) everything would be working as long as I don't turn it off. I don't know what is causing that behaviour.
Would reinstallation help or is it hardware problem (not enough RAM etc.), or lack of swap partition?
PS: Updating every app on phone doesn't help, as well as removing lock screen (no PIN etc.).
Update: I have installed different ROM from sourceforge dedicated to my phone version (galahad). It is android 11. Works 100% fine.
