I´m coming from the Oneplus 3 and there was an option to show the network speed in the status bar.
Does anyone know if there is any option like this on the S10?
I tryed "QuickStar" from Good Lock but can´t find it.

If your csc has that feature enabled by default, you can activate it the status bar options (in notification settings). But if not, you will have to change csc (hard but safe) or root and mod your actual csc features (less hard but risky)

If you don't mind an app Internet Speed Meter works. Puts a notification with your network speed.

I liked it enough to pay for pro.

Forgive me if this is a novice question but I have looked forever with no luck.
Is there any way without root to have network speed indicator on status bar but NOT permanently on notification pulldown?
I find that every app I use, there's an annoying notification you cannot swipe away when really I just want it at the top. Thanks!

Man, thanks for reminding me to this app.
Also used it back in the days.

I wonder what cool tool has built in that allows it to override permanent notification seeing as you do not need root to use it?

Yes, I read about that and its very sad...
I think that its better if we change the csc because now you don't need root for that.
E.g. I have the Note 9 without root (knox 0x0) and my original csc is XME (without special options) but I needed the "call recorder" and I changed the csc code to THL (without root) and now I have the option. But it would be excellent if we can found all the especial option in one only CSC code, like call recorder, speed network in status bar, screen recorder, camera shutter sound option, Volte, etc...
I would like to know if there are a csc will all the features enable...or the majoritie.

Hi all!
Since I bought my new SXZ I've noticed that in my status bar doesn't appear the NFC and the headset icons when I'm using it. Is it normal? Anyone have this issue?
Thank you!!
(Sorry for my bad english)
There are other owners of a SXZ that no have NFC and headset icons in the status bar so maybe is a software error but I saw screenshots where you can see these icons. Is there a way to have these icons?
Thanks.
Hmm I'm using an Bluetooth headset with NFC and I'm only seeing the Bluetooth icon, not really bothering me.
Soon you will have 20 icons and you will wish that you had less:silly:
Thank you "Dsteppa", and you are right, there are a lot of icons in my SXZ but I want to hide some that the Sony's device shows and show some that it doesn't show.
If someone wants the NFC icon (show or hide) you can edit the "/system/build.prop", and edit the line "ro.nfc.icon.enable=true", true if you want to see it, false if you want hide it. When you edit the build.prop you must reboot the device. You must be root.
Is there a solution for the headset using the jack connector?
Thank you!!

I have the C6603 unbranded, simlock free with .253 firmware. When I went into the build.prop to look for the line with the nfc icon to appear or dissappear, the entire line was missing!
When NFC is enabled, I have the icon in the status bar all the time, but I want to get rid of it because it takes up space. But because that line is missing from my build.prop, I did not change anything or added the line into the file. I'm to afraid it might break things...on another forum, I read that some people had bootloops after changing the parameter (This was although that line was present in the first place!).

There's a button on the side of the phone that does exactly that! It also hides a lot of other stuff...
SF
I hate how cluttered the status bar is on the S6. So I spent some time rearranging and hiding stuff. Still lots of work to be done but I think its worth sharing. Also, if anyone out there could deodex this B I'd be very grateful. I'm stuck on a couple apps...So here's what it looks like right now. Center clock, hid the battery icon, hid the BT, sound and alarm icon. I got rid of the sfinder and quick connect buttons in the pulldown, and the brightness slider. The ONLY "bug" with the current apk is the status clock shows on the lock screen.
If you do decide to check this out, make a backup first! The systemui is deodexed, so you have to delete the 2 odex files in /system/priv-app/systemui/arm64. Then Paste the apk over the old one, set permissions and reboot. Your phone WILL lock up when you paste it. A reboot clears it up.

We'll probably never see AOSP on this phone so might as well make the best with what WS have ??
https://copy.com/pdxsDxZpkxlntnnl
"We'll probably never see AOSP on this phone so might as well make the best with what WS have" - A curious prediction - any hints on why? As far as i know, we have kernel source (as used for TWRP), easy to do root, and an unlocked bootloader. If there is any S6 that can get an AOSP build (unofficial of course), its this one..
Exynos. The S5 variants from over a year ago that have the Exynos still don't have AOSP. Never is probably to definite, but I doubt it'll be anytime soon.
Yeah but how many people did they have working on the Exynos? Most of the world was on Snapdragon. Now they have no choice.
We'll see...
I noticed that the status icons are grey compared to the clock. It didn't look like yours was like that from your screen shot, so I'm wondering if they're supposed to be like that or not.

They always have a choice - i think it is giong to depend on the direction Samsung takes in the future with the note 5 and beyond - if they continue to use Exynos exclusively for new phones - and they make those phones compelling - then we have a greater liklihod that will happen, IMO.
I hope so - even though I mostly use Touchwiz - I like the variety that having AOSP roms offers. I am still stuck in the world of not wanting to lose the Samsung Camera when I flash AOSP roms - and because you do lose samsung camera on AOSP I typically haven't flashed AOSP very often - it would be so cool if the camera could be ported - but I doubt it ever will be...
I probably won't end up staying with AOSP but I test everything.
I'm already working with @chenxiaolong to get his dual-boot patcher apk to work on the S6 Edge. I believe we have support just no roms to test yet

No need to install an app to do this unless you just like tapping. Once you're rooted, you can edit your /system/csc/feature.xml file. (I use ES File Explorer -- you have to enable its root functionality after installing. Copied the file out to PC to do the edit using a good editor -- especially NOT Windows Notepad because it will mangle the CR/LF stuff -- then push the file back across. Make a backup of the original .xml file first!!!
Find this line and set the value in between the XML tags to be EMPTY (nothing there), like this:
Code:
<CscFeature_Wifi_ConfigWifiNotificationStyle></CscFeature_Wifi_ConfigWifiNotificationStyle>
Confirmed with my new AT&T S6 a few minutes ago -- "Wi-Fi Connected" banner is history.

You can do this by modifying the build.prop, need root, if you use vzw you will only get the att on the lock screen, but your lock screen audible notifications no longer work and the auto lock screen is disabled, if you use tmobile you will get sfinder and quick connect. ATT is not different than euc, both behave the same. your best bet is using vzw but keep in mind what I listed above. Also you can use LTE icons if you want by changing a line in feature.xml

That hides it on the home screen and apps but not on the lock screen. Can I leave it blank to do that?
Without xposed there is no way to fully customize it the way you want the currently there is only a beta version for arm64 which is boot looping and not ready for prime time. I don't think it will matter if you leave it blank unfortunately, I have not tried that but you are welcome to give it a shot and report back.

Not having root on my S6 Active is becoming agonizing
So they are introducing mandatory emergency alerts here in Canada...testing started this week and didn't go so well, but then today I suddenly received a real alert. It's obviously very loud (which is expected), but I was surprised it made a sound at all because my phone was on vibrate at the time. I was in the office when it happened, and the alarm actually caused a bit of a fuss as people thought it was a fire alarm at first.
I understand the importance of these alerts, but does this mean from now on a loud alarm may sound day or night, with no control over it whatsoever? Today's alert involved a case in a town 16 hours away...it makes no sense.
I know we can't opt out of these alerts, but is there really no way to only show notifications or make these alerts vibrate instead? The options for these alerts in my messaging app are greyed out. Is this something we can change with root? Worst case, I figured it would be fine on Do Not Disturb, but since it makes a sound with vibration I'm no longer so sure that Do Not Disturb mode would actually have any effect...
I have an N950FD with Bell Mobility Canada, unrooted on latest stock Oreo firmware with XSG/XSG/XSG CSC.
Screenshot of my messaging settings...

You can try systen ui tunner, it gives you some more control over notifications, on a per app basis, although it is little tricky with samsung devices, inside the app is a brief explanation about it
I'm not sure how to change it with root or if it is even possible. I do know that the settings change based on CSC so if you ever get around to changing your CSC that might do the trick for you.
With T-Mobile USA CSC none of my Emergency Alerts settings are greyed out. I can choose which alerts to get & if I want to mute them. Since I can mute them (yeah that sound alert is very annoying & overkill in my opinion) I just leave all my alerts on. The only alert I can't disable is Presidential alerts which I have never received one anyway. I forget how the settings looked when I was stock XEU though.
I to received this bs alert ( Canada ) and and looking for a work around. Hopefully someone can identify the procedure to completely remove this pile of crap. It doesn't even work correctly ffs. Just pisses me off

I think you're right and it's once again related to CSC. Lol, first the missing Gif keyboard, and now this
I searched a little and found a few articles from today... One said the alert should be silent if the phone is on vibrate, and the other article (below) said we should be able to edit the same messaging settings that are greyed out for me.

Maybe they do not use this type of alert system in UAE (XSG CSC), and so they disable the toggles (and the default 'make a sound' doesn't matter). Just a thought, but that would explain why I have an unmutable siren here...and why no one else in my office does, lol. Thanks again

At least I'm not the only one who was annoyed . What Note 8 model do you have? Did it make a sound (and if so, were you on vibrate or silent)?

I have a Huawei p10 I can disable individual alerts, but cant disable emergency alerts complete service. I got the original test alert it was loud and annoying. I unchecked everything but still got an amber alert cancellation notification only for an area no where near me with no audio. I did not receive the initial amber alert. These are my available settings.
Quick update: I decided to flash the latest Oreo firmware (Puerto Rico) from SamFirm. I used CP, AP, BL, and CSC with the latest Odin version. Everything went well and my CSC changed (gif keyboard working!), but the messages settings for emergency alerts remained the same... I then tried flashing XEF, but ended right back at my original XSG/XSG/XSG (due it being a to multi-csc which includes XSG, I assume). Back to square one for now, but when I have more time I'll try a few other firmwares/csc until I find one that works...or just end up rooting it...
I have the T-mo note 8 and can not find these settings, exactly how did you get to them?

I'm not sure how to change it with root or if it is even possible. I do know that the settings change based on CSC so if you ever get around to changing your CSC that might do the trick for you.
With T-Mobile USA CSC none of my Emergency Alerts settings are greyed out. I can choose which alerts to get & if I want to mute them. Since I can mute them (yeah that sound alert is very annoying & overkill in my opinion) I just leave all my alerts on. The only alert I can't disable is Presidential alerts which I have never received one anyway. I forget how the settings looked when I was stock XEU though.

They are in the settings menu for the messaging app. Open the app, tap on the three dots in the top-right of your screen, tap on settings, then tap on notifications.

I'm on vzw.
I don't know why, but Google just avoid adding NFC switch to top menu to fast turn on and off. I have NFC widget, but it's third party app that's just a shortcut to settings menu, not the actual switch. Any help?
If you have root you will add nfc toggle to quick setting over macrodroid
There is a toggle for NFC in quick settings. Just pull down quick settings twice, then edit on the left and you'll see it. Press and hold it to move it to the top 6 if you like.
Without root you can run an Automate flow to add a NFC tile: https://llamalab.com/automate/community/flows/35435

No, there isn't anything like that in my Pixel 5. I've checked it even now, wondering if I miss it first time, but unfortunately there is no such shortcut in that menu.

How to open/execute the downloaded file?
You would need to install the Automate app through the Play Store. You will find a "Community" button in the side menu. There you can search for "NFC tile" for instance.
Quick Settings - Apps on Google Play
Fully exploit the potential of quick settings
play.google.com
Add custom Quick Settings tiles for pretty much everything.
Open app -> System (no root) -> NFC -> Enable tile
Pull down notification bar x2 to open quick settings. Tap the pencil icon on the bottom left.
Find the tile you just enabled and drag it to the top.

The phone is on latest OTA and completely stock. Also, I don't use any customization app.
If rooted try a custom ROM. First thing I need to do is actually turn NFC off.
Are you rooted?
I've tried 4 ROMs and all are amazing with different features depending on what you're looking for.
I believe stock though also has this setting.
And Playstore has many Apps to mess with.

That's really strange, but I don't have such tile in my customisation options...

Here's my two screens of all options I got (no third party apps). As you can see, there is no NFC toggle tile.

Hey are you rooted?
I just tried it myself with the app. The first tap took me to the settings while asking for superuser permissions, and after I granted SU, the second tap onwards toggled the actual NFC.
So I think the direct NFC toggling (via this app) requires root.
Shortcutter is a nice little so supported by a wonderful Dev.
