Nothing you can do until the phone gets rooted.
Yeah, that's what I figured after about an hour of searching around for a solution. Thanks for the confirmation though. I'd rather keep Samsung Pay if it comes down to it, but it's not like I even have a choice at this point with no root in sight at the moment...
I hate that WiFi notification with a passion

Even now that it is rooted, without xposed I haven't figured out a simple way to do this.

No need to install an app to do this unless you just like tapping. Once you're rooted, you can edit your /system/csc/feature.xml file. (I use ES File Explorer -- you have to enable its root functionality after installing. Copied the file out to PC to do the edit using a good editor -- especially NOT Windows Notepad because it will mangle the CR/LF stuff -- then push the file back across. Make a backup of the original .xml file first!!!
Find this line and set the value in between the XML tags to be EMPTY (nothing there), like this:
Code:
<CscFeature_Wifi_ConfigWifiNotificationStyle></CscFeature_Wifi_ConfigWifiNotificationStyle>
Confirmed with my new AT&T S6 a few minutes ago -- "Wi-Fi Connected" banner is history.

You can do this by modifying the build.prop, need root, if you use vzw you will only get the att on the lock screen, but your lock screen audible notifications no longer work and the auto lock screen is disabled, if you use tmobile you will get sfinder and quick connect. ATT is not different than euc, both behave the same. your best bet is using vzw but keep in mind what I listed above. Also you can use LTE icons if you want by changing a line in feature.xml

That hides it on the home screen and apps but not on the lock screen. Can I leave it blank to do that?
Without xposed there is no way to fully customize it the way you want the currently there is only a beta version for arm64 which is boot looping and not ready for prime time. I don't think it will matter if you leave it blank unfortunately, I have not tried that but you are welcome to give it a shot and report back.

I threw together a simple app to change the Carrier Name in the status bar/lockscreen to whatever you want since my alot of people seem to ask how to change it. Feel free to use it. Tested on Incredible and Eris. Dev's feel free to thow it your roms if you want. No ads and free just a simple tool to change the text. Thanks to the great Eris community.
Currently only works for AOSP roms such as cyanogenmod.
V1.3
While trouble shooting some radio issues on a rom I realized there's no need to reboot the phone to apply the new carrier name. I only needed to cycle the radio so I changed the app to toggle airplane mode on and then back off after you input your text so the change should take place immediately. This should make it a little easier to test and try different things or just change it more often.
I also added some shortcut buttons at the bottom to quickly add the text for the ", < and > signs so you don't have to type it all out. Only tested this with cm7 but should still work with any rom's it worked with before. Again thanks to Psiphon for pointing these symbol fixes out.
http://www.multiupload.com/RO6RZUUL16
V1.2
Fix for phones that don't already have an eri.xml file there
Added version number to bottom of screen so people can be sure what version they are running.
http://www.androidphiles.com/files/get/DYIPFG2fur/ccname1.2.apk
V1.1
Fixed force closes when using symbols.
You can now use symbols except for double quotes. Apostrophe (single quote) seems to work fine.
Some usefull info if you want to use quotes....
Psiphon said:
You can use special characters like the quotation marks and greater/less than signs by using entity references (either using an entity name or number):
" (quotation mark) use "
< (less than sign) use either < or <
> (greater than sign) use either > or >
I hope this helps!

Added Toast popup to let you know the name has been set.
If reboot button does not reboot phone just reboot the phone manually
http://www.androidphiles.com/files/get/w5A-P2p_tx/ccname1.1.apk
This app does one thing. It takes the input text you type and creates and eri.xml file and puts it in data/ folder on your phone. Then you can reboot for change to take effect. You can uninstall the app after you change it if you want or you can leave it on there(it's pretty small) in case you like to switch it every now and then. If you flash a new rom you will have to rerun the app.

The color is tied in with other parts of the framework. Changing that would change other things as well so it would be more well suited to have that decided by a theme app or settings and not this.

I didn't get an FC when I used a "*" (the 'dot' or symbol for a bullet list) symbol but after rebooting, I had a flashing triangle (roaming) in the status bar and instead of reading "VZW*Rules The Air", it said "Roaming Indicator Flashing"
I changed it to "VZW RulesTheAir" or similar, rebooted, and all's well now. Not sure if it's related to the above FC issue or not. I don't know what version I'm running either.
I did have version 1.0. Will update to 1.1

I think your issue was if there was no eri.xml file then it wasn't writing to it so I had it create a blank eri.xml and then write the text to it. Try out v1.2 http://www.androidphiles.com/files/get/DYIPFG2fur/ccname1.2.apk

You must have still had 1.0 cause I tried VZW*Rules The Air with 1.1 and it worked fine. The roaming indicator flashing means that the xml didn't have the right format which was the issue with using symbols in v1.0

Can I use this to change what carrier I'm on?
is this app simply putting a UI to the process of creating/editing the eri.xml file, or is it accomplishing something different than flashing ChangeToVZW and doing this manually?
a few days before this thread was started, i flashed the ChangeToVZW.zip and edited the resulting eri.xml file to customize the text to my liking, however when i switch to airplane mode or i am somewhere without coverage, the text changes to display "(No Service)". does this app do anything to change the text shown when you have no service? is the eri.xml file that is created identical to the one that ChangeToVZW creates? this is a very minor complaint as the time i spend in Airplane mode or areas of no coverage are very very small, but still something that bothers me
Using this app, in airplane mode, mine says "(No Service)". In that sense, it doesn't override the function 100% like you want.
Hi,
Could someone please direct me to a source of how to create or where to download a Notification pulldown mod on which there is no carrier and narrower bar for the power widgets?

i just changed my carrier label and moved it to the right, i also got rid of the clear button.
in the systemUI.apk if you decompile in the status_bar_Expanded.xml you can change the front size to 0 to get rid of the carrier label
Or, if you want to change it to something else, then you need to decompile framework-res.apk and edit the eri.xml located in res > xml > eri.xml.

I think I found the necessary parameters to do that. PM me where to send the test version. I probably wont be able to send it over right away, i am still out of my house
Edit: NVM, I can't seem to do that under SDK, probably requires the framework handling or overriding with NDK. I can disable keyboard pop up within the apps I create, but once the app is not in focus, keyboard respond the same as if nothing happened.
Even if I make it a service, there is no available features for me to disable keyboard globally.
I can, however, use a Broadcast event onreceive to see if the phone is "charging"(or docked, whichever is handled by Atrix on CM7) and prompt the user if they want to switch keyboard to something like this. So, this is one way if the dock is detected, ask if the user want to switch keyboard? But I can't get the permissions to pass the onReceive properly... I am too noob
Another possibility, but this is going to be hard unless CM7 team jumps in, add the docking listener to the default keyboard itself, therefore, if the keyboard itself sees the phone is "docked", dont bother showing up for text edit text fields
I wonder if the Sound Switch can't be handled by the event of pluggin in the cable insted of an app or a widget.
plug in the cable -> start script *sound over hdmi*
plug out the cable -> start scrout *sound over speaker*

That's strange that those are grayed out like that. Even with them unchecked I still get the pop-up on my phone though.

Me too - super irritating.
Has anyone found a way to disable the guard options?
Roaming guard fix
Hello.
I am not a developer but I have a solution to roaming guards if you have root. I am a very tech savvy person and usually modify all my phone's on my on.
Here we go and I am not responsible for anything that could go wrong. Don't worry this is fairly simple computer programming.
1. Make sure you have root.
2. Download SQLite editor from the play store.
3. Open SQLite editor and go to the root of your phone.
4. Open data/data/com.android.providers.settings
5. Open Setting.db and select secure.
6. Scroll down to line 117 and highlight data_roaming_guards_blocked and hit the pencil to edit.
7. Change wording to data_roaming_guards_allowed and save.
8. Scroll to line 122 and highlight voice_roaming_guard_blocked and hit pencil to edit.
9. Change wording to voice_roaming_guard_allowed and save.
10. There is no need to reboot just go directly to settings, mobile data and roaming guards. You should be able to select and deselect.
I hope this works for you and if it does let's put it out there. Lots of people have this problem and it took me several days to figure this out

I am rooted, so I paid for the SQLite application and tried your suggestion. My lines numbers were slightly different, but I found the entries and made the modifications. It allowed me to disable the options! I am not currently in a roaming area, as I was over the weekend, so I cannot currently ensure it disables the prompts. However, the options are now clickable...and now unchecked for me! Thank you!
Thanks
Thanks for the reply. Let me know if you have any problems.

I also found out you can leave the name the same "_blocked", and then you only have to delete the value "domestic,international" from both entries. You have to restart the phone, but then that tells the system there is nothing to block. I have since went back and left the name entries as they were at default, but removed the values so they are blank.
Again, I appreciate your post as it was extremely helpful!

I often work in a building where my phone ends up roaming, which is fine with me, except that I keep getting the stupid data roaming warning. I can't seem to disable it, because the options are check and greyed out in the data roaming guard menu.
how can i enable these options so i can uncheck them??

Please see your original thread about Roaming Guards being locked. I have posted a fix for the issue. I am trying to get enough post to be able to make a new thread in the developers section.
Thanks
Roaming guard fix
See Roaming guard fix at the bottom of page 1.
I have the same issue as above, the options are greyed out. I have pulled the settings.db file, but the lines mentioned above are not present. This is Lollipop 5.1.1 on Boost Mobile. I'm attaching the settings.db file which has been exported to csv then converted to xls for attachment purposes (csv attachments aren't allowed?). I would be grateful for any help deciphering this to determine which lines to edit or possibly just flipping the 1/0 switch to enable the options to turn roaming guard on/off. Thanks.
Anyone with experience with these databases? Thanks.
Ok, I can't recommend trying to edit the database on Boost Mobile's LG G Stylo Lollipop 5.1.1. At least not with asqlite manager. I did earlier today, I edited line 124 rguard_domestic_data which was set to 1 or on. I changed it to 0 or off, the phone immediately rebooted and went into a boot loop. I'm not sure if the app changed the permissions of the database or if that particular option just shouldn't be changed, but I had to factory reset and set everything back up from scratch. I was able to get to recovery where I cleared cache, then wiped data and reset. The phone is operational now and I did not have to root it again, but it was quite a pain setting everything back up again as I had quite a few customizations. Perhaps there's a better app for the job or a way to edit and restore the original permissions?
I´m coming from the Oneplus 3 and there was an option to show the network speed in the status bar.
Does anyone know if there is any option like this on the S10?
I tryed "QuickStar" from Good Lock but can´t find it.

If your csc has that feature enabled by default, you can activate it the status bar options (in notification settings). But if not, you will have to change csc (hard but safe) or root and mod your actual csc features (less hard but risky)
I´ve got the following options there:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",

}
I changed my CSC from VD2/VD2,VD2/VD2 to BTU/BTU,BTU/VD2
because DBT doesn´t work.
If you don't mind an app Internet Speed Meter works. Puts a notification with your network speed.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.internet.speed.meter.lite&hl=en_US
I liked it enough to pay for pro.

Thanks for your suggestion. WIll try this one out
Forgive me if this is a novice question but I have looked forever with no luck.
Is there any way without root to have network speed indicator on status bar but NOT permanently on notification pulldown?
I find that every app I use, there's an annoying notification you cannot swipe away when really I just want it at the top. Thanks!

That's exactly what I was looking for.
But when doing this, the status bar icon is also gone.

Before rooting, I was using an app "cool tool" which has a lot of features and was able to disable its permanent notification

Man, thanks for reminding me to this app.
Also used it back in the days.
Am using it now again.:good:
I wonder what cool tool has built in that allows it to override permanent notification seeing as you do not need root to use it?

If you have root you can add the code line in the file other.xml
Code:
<CscFeature_Setting_SupportRealTimeNetworkSpeed>TRUE</CscFeature_Setting_SupportRealTimeNetworkSpeed>

Yes, I read about that and its very sad...
I think that its better if we change the csc because now you don't need root for that.
E.g. I have the Note 9 without root (knox 0x0) and my original csc is XME (without special options) but I needed the "call recorder" and I changed the csc code to THL (without root) and now I have the option. But it would be excellent if we can found all the especial option in one only CSC code, like call recorder, speed network in status bar, screen recorder, camera shutter sound option, Volte, etc...
I would like to know if there are a csc will all the features enable...or the majoritie.
